Dee MacDonald Rights delightful stories with truly relatable characters. This novel made me smile from start to finish. Tess and Orla own a dress shop for plus size women. With Tess's daughter's imminent wedding, she decides it's time to make some changes in her life: lose some weight and find a date to accompany her to the wedding. Tess and Orla join a shady dating service and go on some pretty awful dates. There are some definite struggles when it comes to love and weight loss, but the friends stick by each other.
Once again a heart warming novel from Dee MacDonald that makes you laugh and cry and everything in between

I just adored this book! Tess is a wonderful character. She’s been through quite a lot in her life, but she’s so funny, optimistic and kind.

I loved reading about her online dating experiences, she really met some characters! Her Greek cruise adventure is wonderful, with the descriptions of the locations, the people she meets, and of course, some laughs along the way.

I was amused by the way Tess says that, as a dressmaker, she turns shop-bought clothes inside-out and examines the seams. My granny was a dressmaker and used to do the exact same thing, then complain about the quality and go home and make her own version!

There’s some truly laugh-out-loud moments in this book, but it’s also heartwarming and authentic. It’s great to see Tess develop and to regain her confidence during the course of the novel.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but I’ve already downloaded her others and look forward to reading them.

Uplifting and funny, it’s a true pleasure to read this book. It will leave you with a smile on your face.

Tess and Orla, friend who are in their 60's join a weight loss club and a dating service to meet the perfect guy. The men they meet aren't anything like their profiles on the dating site and hilarity ensues.
This is a great, funny and quick read. Perfect for a day at the beach!

Tess and Orla have been friends for years running a dress shop for larger ladies when they decide to join a weight loss club and over the hill dating agency (an ex's much slimmer partner at an upcoming is a big incentive!) So when they can get a big discount on a Greek cruise they jump at it. The dates that follow definitely do not go to plan but friendships can also be made along the way and who knows what will happen by the time the wedding arrives

A light hearted fun read with some good characters and comedy scenes, good beach read

Tess and Orla are best friends in their early 60's, both single and both looking for a man. They run a clothing shop for the larger lady and the book is about their journey to find love (very rocky, to say the least) and their trip to the Greek islands.

I think the blurb has misrepresented this book because it is not hilarious or feelgood. Orla in particular seems quite catty towards Tess - I would not like my best friend to talk to me the way she does! Then there are the dates through the agency that they go on.....depressing and abusive.

The worst part of it is the message that you are absolutely not attractive to the opposite gender unless you are slim; some of the descriptions of the other slimmers (and their clients at the boutique) were horrendous. This is the complete opposite of body positivity and acceptance and I, for one, was appalled that in this day and age people still have these views. If you are a larger lady and suffering from low self esteem, please don't read this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

I give this book 3 stars because the writing did flow and I liked the part about the cruise. It could have been really wonderful - I love reading about older ladies who break out and start doing more things for themselves etc.

Tess and Orla are women in their 60's who decide to join a weight loss club to better themselves and they join a seniors dating service to meet Mr. Right. Unfortunately, Tess seems to have a talent for meeting Mr. Wrong. The vetted dating profiles are nothing like the real men and Tess finds herself in unbelievable situations. But the right guy must be out there somewhere, right?

This was a quick moving, amusing read. I recommend it for a light beach read.

This was so beautifully written, very engaging characters and amusing storylines to keep you reading.
Two friends who run a dressmaking shop decide to go on a cruise run by the dating site they’ve joined. The dates add a lot of humour and you can’t help but feel for Tess and her disastrous dates.
A wonderful read for those of us of a certain age- giving you a huge reminder that life is for living! I can’t wait to read more by this author and want to add some to my holiday reading to enjoy on the beach.

I'm sorry to say that I really didn't enjoy this story at all. I struggled to connect with the main character and to be honest I found the whole story line absolutely daft. The ending particularly turned me off, I found it too predictable and unbelievable.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC

Quirky story about two women trying to find love and reinvent themselves over the age of 60. An easy read with a likeable main character. The ending was a bit abrupt though.

Just because you are of a certain age does not mean you can't have fun and find love! Inspirational and hysterical this was a fun romp!!!

Orla & Tess have been friends for years. They run a boutique/dressmaking service for the 'larger lady'. Both in their sixties & well padded they lament that they lament that their love lives seem to be a thing of the past. Tess has her daughter's wedding in a few months. She wants to look good with a handsome escort for complete with her ex's younger model. Orla just wants a bit of fun so they both join a dating agency & a slimming club. The club promises a match after six dates or your money back. It also entitles them to a big discount on a Greek Island cruise.

The dates are quite amusing- although one was a bit worrying as it smacked of date rape. I did get tired of the lavish descriptions of the clothes. The presumption that you have to be slim & attached to a dishy man to be happy was rather insulting though. I did like Orla in spite of her outlook but overall this was a bit of a disappointment as I loved 'Kicking the Bucket List'.

Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Bookouture and Netgalley for my unbiased opinion of the book. I love this book! The book revolves around Tess and Orla overweight dressmakers. Tess realizes that standing still is worse than dying. So, she and her coworker join a matchmaking service and take a Mediterranean cruise. Her life will never be the same! The antics and laughter will grab you until the very end!
