Olive, who is forever unlucky, manages to avoid the awful food poisoning that plagues her twin sisters' wedding reception. Her sister convinces her to take the honeymoon to Hawaii on her behalf. The only downside is that Olive's nemesis, Ethan, is tagging along since he also avoided the food poisoning. No worries, as they decide to just avoid each other. Until they can no longer avoid each other and the feelings they both so obviously have for each other.

I love Christina Lauren books because they're fun to read. They always make me laugh out loud, and put a smile on my face. I loved Olive's snark and that she was so matter of fact, take no bull from anyone, especially Ethan. I enjoyed reading about the activities they did while in Hawaii, because they sound like fun and because of their banter.

The whole boss/ex thing was kind of hard to believe because I know Hawaii isn't the largest, but really? It doesn't matter, though, because I still enjoyed the heck out of this book.

If you're into fun banter and some sassy characters then definitely check this one out. It's perfect for the summer.

Loved the story, it was soooo cute. At first, I thought the story was ‘Meh’ but it sucked me in and I could not get enough. I had to know what was going to happen. I had is many laugh out loud moments where my family probably thought I was crazy, lol. This book was definitely my fav hate to love romance to date. Whether Ethan and Olive hated or liked each other, it felt so feel. Their comebacks or wittiness was awesome. I definitely recommend this book to all romance lovers.

The Unhoneymooners was a quick read and a satisfying rom-com. Although the plot didn't feel entirely unique, the story was still fun, romantic, and it gave me a few laughs.

When food poisoning hits an entire wedding reception- including the Bride and Groom- hard and fast, the only two guests left standing and unaffected, are offered the all-inclusive Honeymoon in Hawaii. Sounds amazing, except Ethan and Olive aren't exactly friends.

After arriving in Maui, Ethan and Olive are met with a few obstacles that are not very likely, but are quite convenient for the plot. Their verbal sparring was fun, but the 'enemies-to-lovers' vibe simply didn't ring true for me. They seemed to find joy in the banter, and I never felt that they really disliked each other. The setup for them being "enemies" seemed weak to begin with, and built on a huge- again convenient- misunderstanding.

That aside, Olive and Ethan had great chemistry, and as I mentioned, the banter flowed free between them. They had me smiling and laughing alongside them. It does take a good chunk of the book for them to finally take a romantic leap, but it was worth the wait. I enjoyed their dynamic and I thought they made for a good match.

If you're looking for a fast, laid-back, amusing beach read this summer, consider adding The Unhoneymooners to your list. It's equal parts cute and humorous.

ALL. THE. STARS. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The PERFECT summer beach read! A romantic comedy that will leave you wanting more! A binge worthy book!

Ladies and Gentlemen… Christina Lauren does it again! This is officially my new favourite book by this amazing writing duo. I was fully invested in this story right from the start and I was not able to put this book down. It was the perfect weekend indulgence and it definitely left me wanting more. Cue, book hangover!

This story is so fun, charming and witty while also being heartbreaking and infuriating at times!

I instantly fell in love with Olive & Ethan and all their adventures & misadventures. Their “unhonneymoon” vacation was like taking a fun rollercoaster ride… And they get back home to: So. Much. Drama. So good!!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun escape and feel good book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Overall Rating: 5 stars for the excellent banter alone! I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who likes pretty much any type of romance.
Do I recommend it?: ABSOLUTELY!
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy
Writing: 5 stars, wonderfully written, no faults at all. The characters were rich and their growth during the arc of the story was beautiful. But the banter, people!, I usually don’t enjoy romantic comedies that much, but this had me literally LOL.
Story/Plot: 4.5 stars, while the plot overall has been done before, this just felt fresh. Loved Christina Lauren’s take on it.
Characters: 5 stars just for Olive alone. I loved her, her character development was perfect.
Emotions: 5 stars, no silly drama, but my gosh, the FUN these 2 were together was magic.
Flow/pacing: 5 stars, this book flowed perfectly, from the snark to the banter to the romance.
Steam: 4 stars, while the romance was sweet and sexy at times, the love scenes were fade to black for the most part. The only reason I really noticed it was because I wasn’t expecting that from Christina Lauren.
HEA: Yes
Will I read this author again? : Most definitely. Christina Lauren are pretty much auto-buy authors for me.

Many thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy. This did not affect my rating.

*3/5*

Unlike her twin sister Ami, Olive has never been lucky.
Until everyone at Ami's (mostly won) wedding except her and the grooms brother (whom she despises) get food poisoning.. Ami tries to convince Olive to go on her (won) honeymoon, and when Ethan (nemesis) says he is going to go on it, she decides that he doesn't get to have all the fun.

Olive and Ethan go to beautiful Hawaii and bicker some.. There are some obstacles that cause them to have to pretend to, not even just like each other but love each other.. but they eventually come to have a good time together, then have a really *wink wink nudge nudge* good time together.

Back on the mainland, Olives newly happy life is turned upside down, she loses her job, and is faced with a choice to tell her sister some big, not so happy news.

There is a HEA.

This was my first Christina Lauren book.. but as soon as I saw it was set in Hawaii, I knew I had to read it. I love Hawaii. But unfortunately, Hawaii wasn't really featured as much as I has hoped.
I didn't love Olive or Ethan.. and their bickering was more annoying than cute. And it all turned around way to fast for my liking.
The writing was decent but not amazing. (I think the following phrase was said at least 3 times, "are you decent?" "Am I ever?" Ugh. Cringe. Once, fine. But 3 times?!)
The plot and characters were forgettable.

I don't know if I will be reading anything else by these authors.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren (aka Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billing) is a delightful enemies to lovers story. Olive Torres’s twin sister Ami is marrying Ethan Thomas’s brother Dane and unfortunately the entire wedding party comes down with food poisoning except Olive and Ethan because Olive is allergic to shellfish and Ethan doesn’t do buffets. The all inclusive Hawaiian honeymoon is non refundable so Olive and Ethan reluctantly go on the honeymoon together even though they can’t stand each other or so they think. Excellent banter and a lovely exploration of trust and what it means when you don’t have it in a relationship make for a story that you will not want to put down. I highly recommend this story. The Unhoneymooners is a fun and flirty romantic comedy that just misses the mark of a five star read.

The opening chapters set a fun and lighthearted tone for the novel quickly as readers are introduced to the chronically unlucky Olive in contrast to her twin who is the luckiest person in the world. Olive is fun, clumsy, and quirky. I’m usually not a fan of these types of main characters as I find them endlessly annoying. However, Lauren pushes Olive to the edge of these traits without going over.

Ethan is an underwhelming love interest. He carries the typical traits of a swoon worthy love interest without an interesting or engaging personality. There are moments when something interesting about him shines through, but those are far and few between.

The driving force of the novel is the enemies to lovers romance where they fall in love while on a honeymoon meant for their respective siblings who recently married. The setting and the characters’ interactions are perfect. Their banter is fun and flirty and had me grinning from ear to ear for most of the novel. Unfortunately, this all comes to a halt when they leave the vacation and return to the real world.

Once Olive and Ethan arrive home the realities of their relationship to each other and what it means for everyone around them become an obstacle. These final few chapters were a chore to read and what made me rate the novel four stars instead of five.

Overall, The Unhoneymooners is a fun read that I'd recommend you pick up while on the beach.

Thank you Simon&Schuster Canada and Netgalley for a copy of The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren, available May 14/19.

This was my first by this team of authors but it won’t be my last. The Unhoneymooners was a fun, light hearted romance that would make for perfect summer reading! Find a sunny spot, grab a cocktail and lose yourself in this one for a while!
Olive thinks she is the unlucky one, so she lives her life like nothing ever good will happen to her. I loved that while this was a light, fun book that there were a few topics that were interesting to read about and this was my favourite. It’s very easy to lose yourself in your perception of what your life is like and how other people think of you.

Perfect choice for a light romantic comedy!

Ami the bride has always been the lucky twin.  Winning most everything for her wedding including the honeymoon. Ami's wedding is going great until the speeches.  Her twin Olive is giving her speech when the new groom vomits all over Ami's dress. Unfortunately then almost all the guest except Olive and the grooms brother Ethan are vomiting due to ciguatera, which happens when one eats fish contaminated with certain toxins. Ami then insists that Olive go on the honeymoon she won that was nonrefundable. However the groom also offered it to his brother Ethan. Olive and Ethan aren't excately friends and not thrilled to be taking the trip together.  They end up going and having an amazing trip. Its not until the return that things start going wrong.

This was such a fun refreshing read.  I found myself not wanting to put it down to see what awkward  situation Olive and Ethan would get into next as they were pretending to be on their honeymoon. I loved the way their relationship evolved. The amazing connection they developed was so relateable. Christina Lauren definitely knows how to write an engaging book and i would definitely say its a 4.5🌟

This book was so much fun! If you’re wanting to read a light-hate to love/fake dating romcom then this is the summer read you are looking for. The Unhoneymooners lived up to the high expectations I had going into the book. This book is right up there as one of my favourite Christina Lauren books. I think it’s a really good mix of Josh and Hazel and The Hating Game. I loved the banter and the humour in this book.
.
Olive Torres has always felt unlucky but her twin sister Ami is the complete opposite- she’s lucky in everything. Ami is getting married and has won so many contests her wedding is basically paid for. Part way though the wedding the guests come down with food poisoning due to a virus from the buffet. This virus is sticking around and unfortunately the newlyweds won’t be able to go on their all expense paid honeymoon in Hawaii. Not wanting to waste the trip Ami offers the trip to Olive while the groom has offered the trip to his brother Ethan - Olive’s nemesis ! Unfortunately to take advantage of this free trip Olive and Ethan will have to pose as the newlyweds themselves!
.
.
I really enjoyed Olive and Ethan! I have been reading so many romances that have dual perspectives that it was interesting reading this one just from Olive’s point of view. I kept wanting to know more of what Ethan was thinking!

Whenever I see that Christina Lauren have a new book coming out, it automatically gets added to my list of must-read books. I’ve come to the conclusion that they have some magical ability to always put a smile on my face. Of course, that magical ability is all talent. No matter my mood, their writing is an elixir that never fails to have me laughing out loud.

Can you imagine spending ten days with someone that you don’t get along with? What if those ten days were in Hawaii… and it was free? That certainly sweetens the pot, doesn’t it? This is the situation that Olive Torres finds herself in. After some bad seafood at her twin sister’s wedding reception leaves everyone sick, including the bride and groom, Ami insists that Olive not let the honeymoon go to waste. All she has to do is pretend that she’s Ami and she will get to spend ten luxurious days in paradise. The only problem is that Ethan Thomas, the best man and groom’s brother, is the only other person who wasn’t afflicted by the tainted buffet food, so it makes perfect sense that he accompanies Olive on the honeymoon and pretend that they are the loving newlyweds. It’s not easy to act like newlyweds, though, when they can barely stand being in the same room together. This whole scenario presented some fabulous drama, wit, and interesting situations and interactions.

Olive and Ethan had a long history of disliking each other. Right from the get-go, the tension was in full force with these two. Ethan’s first mistake was giving Olive a judgmental look just because she wanted to chow down on cheese curds at the State Fair. But what I liked about Olive was that she owned her curves and was unapologetic about enjoying food. Yes!

Sharing a suite at a resort meant that they would be spending a lot of time together. The more time they spent together, the more this “couple” realized that they actually enjoyed each other’s company. I liked watching their relationship progress, how they maneuvered around each other and truly got to know each other beyond their own assumptions.

The Unhoneymooners is a fun-filled, fast-paced enemies-to-lovers romance that provided a great deal of witty banter. Olive and Ethan’s back and forth was everything that you would want from an enemies-to-lovers romance. It had all of the hilarity, chemistry, and even a touch of angst to even things out and get the blood pumping. The authors never rushed the romance along, they allowed the characters to circle each other organically, which is something that I always appreciate in a novel.

This book is just another example of why this writing duo is among my list of all-time favorites!

*4.5 Stars

Ohh this book is just so cute.

I was introduced to Christina Lauren just last year, and they quickly became my favourite romance writing duo. I found The Unhoneymooners to be light, fun, and sexy in the best possible way.

When Olive Torres' twin sister gets food poisoning at her wedding, Olive and the groom's brother Ethan go on their honeymoon instead. The problem? Olive thinks Ethan hates her and they definitely do not get along. While I wouldn't go so far as to call them enemies, this so called "enemies-to-lovers" romance definitely worked for me.

First of all, I LOVE that Olive is a curvy girl. She's not afraid to eat cheese curds at a fair, and she is confident in her own skin. While I didn't find her as funny as some of Christina Lauren's other female characters, I really felt like I could relate to her in that even though she's a confident woman, she makes mistakes or things go wrong, and she perseveres. Secondly, I like how the romance developed without the entire focus of the book being on the romance or on sex. While pretending to be on a honeymoon, she and Ethan fell for each other, but they encountered some hilarious and awkward moments along the way.

If you're looking for a funny, sexy summer read, this one is for you!

Part of a large, extended Mexican-American family, Olive Torres truly feels unlucky. Her perfect twin Ami, on the other hand, well, she has all the luck in the world. She even got her wedding for free! When an unexpected problem occurs (no spoilers, but if you are squeamish, don't start the book over a meal) Olive and Ethan, (her new brother-in-law) whom she hates with the passion of a burning sun, and who clearly demonstrates that the feelings are mutual, are thrown together unexpectedly for a vacation in paradise. How are they possibly going to survive this trip without killing each other?

Through a series of awkward encounters, dreamy experiences, and sometimes hilarious mishaps, could it be possible for them to realize that sometimesfirst impressions are wrong, and second chances aren't so bad?

Laugh out loud funny, charming and possibly a bit too relatable at times. This fun read would be perfect for the beach, on a trip, or anytime you need a pick me up.

I am completely blown away and surprised by how much I loved this book! The whole time I was reading it I found myself constantly saying, out loud, how much I enjoyed it. The characters were so wonderful to read about and I really connected with Olive and genuinely wanted the best outcome for her and her story. I loved how unique she was compared to female protagonists in other romance novels and she was HILARIOUS. I laughed out loud so many times while reading from her perspective. I've only read one other Christina Lauren book, but if there is one thing I know about their writing is that they write an amazing male character and Ethan was no exception. From the moment we were introduced to him I loved him, he was quick, witty, and sarcastic which is everything I want in a male lead. The flow between Olive and Ethan was also amazing, even in the beginning when they "hate" each other, it was so hilarious and heartwarming. This book also had the tropes I love most when it comes to romance which is enemies to lovers and fake dating. Both of these tropes felt very realistic with regards to the plot, which I appreciated.

If you want a fun, light-hearted romantic read then this is it. I squealed multiple times throughout and I am not ashamed.

Also, this cover is gorgeous and totally fits with the setting of the book and I will need to purchase a copy when it comes out in May!

Christina Lauren’s latest feels different from the rest but still captures your heart the same way. Olive and Ethan were a riot and I loved watching them get to know each other and make mistakes along the way.

Christina Lauren is back with another fun, and flirty romance I literally did not put down. Lauren’s books are a great escape and so fun to read. I find myself laughing out loud constantly. Her characters are fully formed, and there is a great balance between rom com and conflict. I loved the plot involving Olive’s sister, All in all, a winner. Thanks so much to Simon and Schuster Canada for the egalley!
