"THE END...FOR NOW" OMG what an ending! I NEED book 2, Her Submission ASAP!!!
I loved His Demand. I've read Lisa Renee Jones's books before but none of the ones with Reid and Gabe in them. I have to say that I loved Gabe and Abbie's story! Gabe is an alpha male that knows how to get what he wants no matter if it's business or in bed. He and his brother Reid have just recently kicked their father out of their prestegious law firm and are moving forward. Abbie is a strong independent woman who is trying to get out from under her controlling, lying, cheating and very dangerous exhusband while helping her mother run an animal shelter. Abbie's ex is dangerous and wants the land that the animal shelter is on. for reasons that no really knows, or do they.
From the moment Gabe sees this beautiful red head in his office building and then his office he is drawn to her. Abbie has notiiced Gabe as well. After one kiss Gabe is hooked and will do anything to protect Abbie. Both Gabe and Abbie are hiding something and I'm personally dying to figure out what that is!! Both I think will rock the new relationship they have building.
This story has me hooked and just when I thought I was going to get answers it was the end of the book. It was not what I was expecting to hear.
Overall I would give this 5 wine glasses/stars and I can't wait for more. Bravo Lisa Renee Jones on another great read!

I'd rate this at a 3.5 stars.

This book started out so well, I literally started looking up other books by Lisa Renee Jones, saw that my library didn't carry them and then felt like buying every one. As you can guess, the feeling didn't last.

Premise is simple: Gabe's a crazy rich lawyer and a player (or man slut, if you prefer).
Abby's a lawyer being harassed by her crazy rich ex-husband. Why is he harassing her? The lady's explanations aren't fully honest.
They kiss at a coffeeshop. Don't see each other for days (weeks?) until she comes to his office to hire his brother to resolve a property dispute.

He likes her because she's the first woman who has intrigued him in years. I'm unclear on why she likes him-- maybe because he's handsome, funny and alpha-ish?

The first hundred pages work because you get a clear idea of them and she comes off as strong and interesting. It's also steamy, which makes for a fun read.

Then we dive into the main issue, which is that her ex-husband harasses her by trying to take over a piece of property that her mother uses for her animal shelter.
Then we realize that our lawyer heroine hasn't really worked in years while she helped her mother at the animal shelter.
Then we see Gabe doing useful things to help the heroine, why simultaneously (and justifiably) constantly questioning her on why her ex-husband is so intent on this property. Then we get into the endless tug of war of his asking her questions, her refusing to answer and offering to break up with him, and him telling her she can't and won't break up with him. She's reduced to whiny and not very strong/interesting. He's reduced to...I'm not sure what, but he's operating on a loop of complain-question-bang, repeat.

It's tedious to the extreme by then, and when the book is over, I was over it.

One note: I'm not obsessive about consent in books, i.e.I don't need the male character to ask the heroine at every step if she wants to keep going in the bedroom. But this book skirts a real line. There are multiple times Gabe tells Abby she can say no, she does, and he keeps overriding her, justifying continuing, and talking her into things she doesn't seem into. (Granted, one she does them, she seems plenty into it).

That said, this book is overall very well written, and it's worth it for the first hundred pages.

This is the first of a duet and it definitely leaves you wanting more! Lisa writes such in depth characters that you love them and hate them. She gets you invested and now I want more!

It is no secret that LRJ is one of my favorite authors, shes a auto-buy. So when I was asked to review this gem, I couldn't say no. Like most of her novels, Gabe and Addie are hot-to-trot., their chemistry jumps from the pages! Demand is full of what you want and need in a novel. The hero, is one that goes for what he wants, strong and powerful, but what is shocking is the side of him that Addie brings out. Now onto Addie, who from the start I knew something was off about her, but I couldn't place my finger on it. But in Gabe's presence she cant resist. One kiss and shes under his spell. Though her instincts tell her to run for the hills. Together they are a match.

I can't wait to read book two to find out all the things that the first book makes you question. I kept this short without going into major spoilers.

Thank you to the author, Netgalley and publisher for the ARC in place of a honest review!

So this book was a DNF for me ... I did not feel connected to Abby or Gabe, there was no character development or back story. The first chapter you are dropped into Gabe being in an empty apartment, who goes to a bar sees a girl and then bam 5 seconds later they're going back to his house for crazy amounts of sex and insta love. There is a brief picture of what the rest of the book will hold, Abby is divorced and she needs help, Gabe vows to help her ...and thats where I didn't read further. I don't know if I will ever finish this book, but right now I'm fine with this book on my DNF shelf.

3 <b> Mine </b> Stars

I must say I love love love this author and I have read all of her works and its pretty hit and miss depending on the MC’s role. I didn’t care for the protective service roles of the last series and this series didn’t have too much involvement in it and Gabe was a lawyer. This book gave me serious Deja vu so I am quite unsure If we have been introduced to Abigail and her plot of land before but I swear there was some serious foreshadowing. What broke me down from this book in terms of loving it is actually ( don’t yell at me) the amount of sex that occurs. I love my sex like I love milk in my tea (a ton) but this was crazy insta and just sex all over the damn place. This book takes place I believe over 3-4 days and within one day before the sun has set they have had sex at least 7 days and he has decidedly fallin in love with Abbie and she is his. I understand this isn’t a standalone but there are somewhat in the world moments <spoiler> gabe got himself fixed? , Abbie never loved her husband? Why is Abbie’s mother left alone to run an entire ginormous animal shelter? How did he literally say “I am a playboy I hate love and I hate redheads and decide as he ordered a coffee he was gunna marry a redhead? </spoiler>
Gabe is a typical alpha male and omg if Gabbie could be MORE ANNOYING AND ROADKILL PUSHOVER It would be incredible.

The book ends in a cliffy which is the authors go to.. so please don’t bash her for that!

These two! They’re like titanium porcupines; unbreakable, unbending, and all prickles to guard their soft underbellies. I don’t know whether I want to take Gabe and Abbie and shake some sense into their stubborn skulls or hug them close and try to make everything all right. The chemistry between this couple sends sparks sizzling off the page. Gabe and Abbie are almost too much alike. They’re both stubborn, alpha, Type-A personalities that don’t play well with others And yet their broken places line up perfectly to provide strength and support where the other is the weakest. I’m now highly invested in their story and anxious to see what comes next. I’ll also likely be one-clicking the books that came before this since I haven’t read them yet.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley.

This is the first book in Gabe and Abbie's story “His Demand” Dirtier Duet series. Let me just state this is a standalone and you don't have to read any other books prior to “His Demand”, but damn Ms Jones, now I want to read the prior books from the “Dirty Rich” series!

I've written this review in so many different ways and still I'm having a hard time verbalizing at how great I felt this book is. Even though I have not read the “Dirty Rich” series I feel an emotional connection with Gabe Maxwell, he's the brother of Cat and Reid Maxwell. Like me, Gabe likes to hide behind a quick smile or make people laugh, this helps keep the questions at bay, his dark secrets hidden. Gabe and Abbie both have dark pasts, not yet fully revealed in this book. I can tell you for me, I am on the edge of my seat and can't wait to hear them! This is another book that Ms Jones has written leaving my screaming at the end “NOOOOOOOO!”. So I defiantly will have to read the next book in this series. This book is fast past in my opinion never a dull moment, very suspenseful, with fully developed characters, hot sexy scenes, and so many fur babies. Even though Gabe is a proclaimed playboy and wants nothing and nobody to commit to, the sexy redhead awakens this primal deep need in Gabe, a need to protect, a need to defend. Can two hurt, broken people save eachother? Or will they simply shatter into smaller pieces, no longer capable of ever coming together? These questions I hope will be answered in the second book.

***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.*** Thank you!

Where do I find a Gabe Maxwell?

His Demand is the first book in the series The Dirtier Duet, by Lisa Renee Jones. When I started this book I had no idea that it was a spin-off. Thankfully, the book can be read as a stand-alone series without having to read the previous books. Though after finishing this book, I am seriously considering adding the authors Dirty Rich series to my TBR pile.

His Demand had such a great synopsis and because of that, I had hopes that I would thoroughly enjoy it. Which I did.

The book follows Abigail Tanner and Gabe Maxwell. It starts strong and sexy, and mysterious. The story is told by both Gabes and Abigails point of view, though the author does an amazing job of making each point of view unique and exciting. I love a good cat and mouse chase in a romance, especially when the characters have instant chemistry and nerves of steal like Abigail.

This novel is more than just sex it’s two people learning to trust themselves and each other. Their relationship is a very emotional journey that is heartbreaking in a way that we as the reader can see their issues and know that if they just let each other have what they want, they’ll both be happy.

I absolutely love this book and will be waiting not so patiently for the next one, because cliffhangers are cruel and absolutely necessary.

LRJ is one of the few authors I will give myself over to a duet for, because I know the cliffhanger I am left with will be worth it! This book is so, so good! Gabe and Abbie are amazing together despite what is going on and all the secrets they still have between them. That first meeting, that kiss, that was just it. Gabe was hooked! I love watching this smart, funny, sexy, amazing alpha man, who has clearly been hurt before and who never wanted to be in another relationship again, not want to let Abbie go. And Abbie, well she is in some deep crap at the hands of her ex and is afraid to giver herself completely over to Gabe. He wants nothing more than to fix it all for her. I couldn't get enough! And Gabe with puppies? Sigh.
That ending was crazy! I mean what? I can't wait for the conclusion to their story! I just know it will be everything I hope it will be!

Gabe is a very demanding man who knows what he wants out of life and in this book he wants Abby, a woman randomly met in a bar. She is scarred from her previous marriage to a ruthless billionaire and she is trouble. Gabe is determined to save her from her ex husband. She, on the other hand, is not so very clear. She is hiding something but Gabe is too overshadowed by lust. A story full of twists that ends with a cliffhanger. I’m giving a three star to this story because of Abby’s character. I admit i preferred Gabe rather than Abby. I didn’t like her character, she doesn’t know what she wants. During the entire book she keeps pushing and pulling Gabe and he deserves to be rewarded thanks to his endless patience with her. If the story had been shorter with a little more description of her evil ex husband perhaps it could have been more intriguing.

Okay, so I adore everything this author writes, in fact, I have it on auto order when her books come out, so when His Demand came up for review, I of course jumped at the chance to read another great book! This book has all the mystery, steamy sex, sweet animals and drama you could ask for, but the problem for me is the constant insecurities that these two characters have, especially Abbie. It drove me crazy, and is very unlike this author to write her characters that way, so I’m at odds with this story. I truly dislike characters who are whiny, repetitive, wishy washy, and down right irritating because she either does or doesn’t want the relationship with Gabe. I found myself jumping ahead in this book, and I never do that with this authors book. Doesn’t bother me that it ended on a cliffhanger, her best work does, what I’m hoping is that book two tighens up these two characters, because they can be something pretty special given what direction the next segment appears to be going in.

I liked this book. The plot and twists blended together in the writing well. The little easter eggs left giving clues to the cliffhanger ending were well placed and leave you questioning what you thought you knew about both characters.

Gabe is a typical no strings male lead who falls for Abbie. However, one of my biggest pet peeves about romance stories is when the relationship seems out of character or out of nowhere.... which is exactly what happens between Gabe and Abigail. There doesn't seem to be any lead up to them being in a relationship. Basically Gabe decides after kissing her once he wants to wife her up... what? After being a playboy for forever. That does not make any sense for the way his character was set up. I can see why he would want to protect her from her ex and that he wants to help her in court. But to throw the relationship part of them being more than a sexual liaison is kind of a hard push, at least for me personally. If you are into instant love and relationship, this book is right up your alley.

The cliffhanger would be the only reason I read the second book. Simply because I am curious which one of them (if either of them actually did.. or both of them) did it.

I ummed and ahhed between 3 and 4 stars and in the end went for 3 stars.

Pros - really easy to read and get into. Lots of chemistry between Gabe and Abbie, plenty of believable sparks between them. I liked Abbie's mum and Gabe's family and work colleagues too - I haven't read any other books by this author, but I found each character really well drawn and easy to picture. I enjoyed reading about them and the book flowed really well.

Cons - just too many secrets and hints of Bad Things That Happened In The Past - to both Gabe and Abbie. Just not enough actually revealed in the book, either by the narration or by the characters. And this was the biggest problem with the book, I like a mystery and drip fed reveals but in this case there were just too many hints and not enough revelations. Maybe if I'd read this and the next one together as a duet this wouldn't have been a problem.

I received a free copy of this book from netgalley in return for my honest review.

Abigail is a spitfire. Planting a kiss on a stranger is no easy action. But to make it unforgettable? Hot and steamy sexiness quickly ramps up the intrigue. And as a "self proclaimed prick" Gabe's obsession with finding out who she is is interesting. But secrets have a way of destroying trust and both of these characters hide more than they reveal. Book one of a 2-part duet, this story does have a cliffhanger that will be resolved in Her Submission.

Gabe Maxwell is a very successful lawyer, who along with his brother Reid have just pushed their father out of the family business. Gabe doesn't have time in life for a relationship but when an interesting redhead kisses him in a bar, consider him intrigued.

Abigail "Abbie" Tanner is also a lawyer but her ex-a$$hole of a husband has been trying to make her life hell and she needs the help of Gabe and Reid's firm. When Gabe agrees to help, he goes all out. No one is going to mess with this captivating woman who has stirred something inside of him.

As Gabe tries to fix everything that Abbie's ex is throwing at them, they start to get closer and closer and feelings are getting mixed in and he realizes that he is actually happy. Just when life is starting to look perfect, a bombshell is dropped!

I just love these characters. Gabe is an alpha with a touch of sweetness added in. Abbie is strong and fierce and doesn't like men to run her life but for some reason she feels safe with Gabe. I can't wait until the next book to see where all this leads!

emoji rating scale: 😩🙁😐😀😍
His Demand rating: 😀

Lisa Renee Jones repeatedly casts a spell on me that I just can’t get out of. I spend my whole Saturday not being able to put this book down! LRJ had me falling head over heels — swoon — in love with this suspenseful and delicious romance.

This story follows Gabe *I LOVE a story that revolves around a hot, powerful man* — powerful attorney and forever bachelor — who goes out drinking after Reid and Carrie get married.* *HELL YES CAMEOS* There he runs into Abigail (Abbie) who kisses him in a hallway and sets his life on fire.

*We meet Reid and Carrie in the ‘Dirty Rich’ series which you need to pick up immediately and read if you haven’t already.

Abbie Tanner — ALSO an attorney — is caught up in a situation between her and her millionaire ex-husband that aires on the side of abusive. *This is my opinion as LRJ CLIFFHANGER’S us into waiting to find out more* Abbie wants to keep Gabe five feet away at all times — for his safety — but hot, bad-ass Gabe refuses to back down.

Que the frequent arguments / talks / fights / arguments — you get the drill — between the two of them as they try to mend their broken hearts, protect their families / loved ones and learn to trust again in a relationship. I have never met a character more skittish than Abbie, but I loved the perspective of Gabe, a man who could step up to the challenge, and pushed past Abbie’s relationship boundaries. *and HELLO GIRL, he’s been burned too*

All I have to say; LRJ knows how to WRITE 👏🏻 A 👏🏻 STORY 👏🏻. The friction / chemistry / sexual tension between Abbie and Gabe make me want to cold a shower *but also, happy to switch places anytime Abbie, just LMK*. THAT CLIFFHANGER THOUGH. Why does LRJ have to do us like that?! I need answers to all the things. ALL. THE. THINGS. *still crying into my kindle*

If you’re already an LRJ fan (or if you’re into the hot — if you’re not, get outta here! — sexy man romances) pick up this book! I recommend for a great weekend, get-outta-your-head read.

Warning: this book ends in a cliffhanger. Fortunately, the conclusion to this cliffhanger comes out later in April.

Gabe's brother, Reid, just got married as this book begins. Gabe is feeling kind of lonely and out-of-sorts, and ends up in an upscale bar where he likes to hang out and meet clients. Gabe is a lawyer who knows how to win, and he knows how to be ruthless when needed. Abbie is sitting in the bar at a table alone, and catches Gabe's interest. He follows her to the restroom, where she plants a scorching kiss on him and walks away. Gabe is intrigued, but she is gone before he can find her again. Soon afterward, she shows up at his law firm, looking for Reid. She wants to go after her ex-husband, Kenneth Lincoln, and his business partner, Jean Claude Laurette, because they are going after her and her mother. For some strange reason, they want the land that houses her mother's non-profit animal rescue site. It isn't clear why this piece of property is so desirable, but they are going after it with a vengeance.

Gabe, Reid, and Abbie decide to fight back. Gabe decides early on that he wants more from Abbie than a one-night stand. Abbie is decisive at times, and at other times, she lets fear rule her emotions. This gets a little stale at times, but other than that, the story moves at a fast pace. The motivations of each of the main characters are hazy at times, but become clearer as the story proceeds. There are unanswered questions as the story ends, but the answers will undoubtedly be supplied as this duet concludes. There is tension that builds as we learn more about each of these characters. There are some minor skirmishes on the phone and in person between the main protagonists and the wealthy ex. On the whole, it was a satisfying start to this story. The conclusion promises to supply the answers in a satisfying way, if previous works by this author are any indication!
