Liked this book, but gonna be honest, Stella got on my nerves a bit. Felt her character was a bit thick. Enjoyed the premise of the book, but did not live up to expectation from desription

This was a good book and was very well written. I love a novel that makes me think and ask questions and this certainly did. Just as I thought I knew where the author was taking me I turned an unexpected corner.
I would recommend this book to others.
Thanks to Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for an advance copy of this book.

I love a small town everyone knows everyone story, so I was sold at the 'A tiny island community is stunned by the discovery of a long-buried body' line in the blurb. Come Back For Me had me hooked from the first page. An enjoyable read with a mystery that will keep you guessing as it jumps between past and present. My first Heidi Perks book, and definitely not my last!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Such a thrilling story with its family secrets and close knit communities in small towns. I loved the characters and the way the story brought out their personalities. Quite a page turner and you wouldn't want to put it down till its all over!

Stella, Bonnie and Danny live on Evergreen Island with their parents but have to leave suddenly in the middle of the night, to start a new life on the mainland and destined never to return to the island.
For Stella this is something she has never come to terms with as her happy memories of her childhood pose questions that nobody can give her answers to.
This is a thriller with a difference as there are dark overtones from the beginning which gave me a constant feeling of unease. The writing is superb and the twists and turns even made me gasp out loud a couple of times.
Without giving anything away though I did however feel the ending was a little unrealistic after Stella being so inquisitive and persistent and it just felt a little soft to me.

This is the second Heidi Perks book I've read today, and I loved the way she jumps between the present and the past. It helps set the mood of the book and also aids in building suspense for the plot. I loved the book, and I can't wait to read the next one!

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC, which I have enjoyed reading.
This is the second book by Heidi Perks, Come Back For Me was an emotional rollercoaster and an extremely accomplished and clever psychological thriller.
When a body is found it opens up a history of lies and deceit and children being bought by childless couples. It is only at the end of the book that we know what has happened and what truths will be told.
A very clever second novel. Highly recommended.

When you start reading this you wonder why the title. Why do the family flee in the middle of the night? Is life on the island as wonderful as it is made out to be and who are the goodies to be trusted and who do you fear? One girl seems to be able to create havoc amongst the residents on one small island, do they all share the same secret? Intriguing mystery to be solved, can you get there before all is revealed?

I got into this book really quickly and was gripped by all the many twists and turns and the intriguing and unusual setting. I kept trying to guess what was going on and then being fooled.

In the end, I didn't think the denouement was quite so convincing as most of the novel but, nevertheless, it was an enjoyable read.

Stella left her small island community a long time ago but her world is shaken when a long buried body is found on the island and makes national news. The book flips between the present and 1993, when Stella was a child on the island. I found this book so well written and completely gripping throughout. It is everything a good thriller should be and I can't recommend it highly enough. The characters are well rounded and story is definitely engaging.

Wow - another successful book from Heidi Perks.
Stella and her family live on a small island, Evergreen, there are only a 100 or so residents and everyone knows everyone else’s business. Stella loves the island and the freedom she has to explore with her friend Jill , the treehouse her dad built which both she and her brother Danny spend a lot of time in. Stella, her older sister Bonnie and Danny are all therefore shocked when her parents decide on a very stormy rough night that they are leaving the island for good.
The story is told in both the past, Stella as a child and the present, where she has returned to the island after 25 years as a body has been found just outside what would have been their garden. Who is it, how long has the body been there? Stella has so many questions, but none of the islanders want to talk to her. Will Stella be able to find out why Jill her best friend when she lived on Evergreen, never kept in touch or answered her letters, will she learn whose the body is and how it happens to be buried so near her old home.
The story holds a lot of tension and is well told, good conclusion
4.5 stars

This is my first Heidi Perks book, and after reading this I have quickly went on to buy others. Her writing style draws you straight in, and the twists and turns of this book were unfathomable! Kept me guessing all the way.

I quite enjoyed this. I like how the narrative jumped between past and present but used either the first or third person. It gave a clear distinction between the two.

Stella and Bonnie lived on Evergreen, a remote island with a small population, when they were younger. Their lives were seemingly idyllic until their parents suddenly gathered them together, along with their brother Danny, and fled the island at night during a storm. Stella has always yearned for the island that she adored as a little girl but Bonnie’s experience of was very different and it’s not a place she remembers fondly.

When the news features the story of a body found close to their old home on the island Stella immediately feels inclined to return to find out if it is anyone they knew. On arrival it seems that most people she knew on the island are not very pleased to see her but Stella is determined to find out who has died and what happened to them. But are some secrets best left unknown?

I shall leave things there plot wise as don’t want to give anything away. I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s previous book Now You See Her and Come Back For Me is an equally good read. From the moment Stella sets foot on Evergreen there is an air of suspense and unease which urges you onwards in the need to discover the outcome. It is not fast paced or packed with fear, it is a thoughtful thriller that will be enjoyed by anyone who likes a thriller that has tension bubbling just below the surface. I look forward to reading more by this author and hope we don’t have to wait too long for her next release.

My thanks to #Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of #ComeBackForMe in exchange for an honest review.

I think this was probably one of the best books I have had the privilege of reading this year. It gripped me from the start. Stella, an 11 year old girl devastated having to leave her home on the island of Evergreen with her family, never being given a reason why. 25 years later she hears news that a body had been discovered near the old family home. It was the perfect excuse to return to her beloved Evergreen.
Secrets, lies, abuse, kidnap - this book has it all. It is definitley hard to put down. You feel as though you can relate to the family dynamics and really understand the characters. Well done Heidi for another great piece of fiction.

I love Heidi Perks, her previous book 'Now You see Her' was also gripping. Great summer reads.

Stella grew up thinking she had the perfect life on the perfect Island of Evergreen, just off the Dorset coast. She knew everyone on the small Island where her father was the ferryman, and her memories are of her beautiful house, with a gorgeous view, and spending time with her brother in the treehouse her father built for them. It was also home to Jill, her first and best friend.

25 years later she still has no idea why they left one night in the middle of a huge storm, never to return. Stella’s parents separated shortly after they left, her mother died and her father lives with the vile Olivia and has Alzheimer’s. Her brother Danny has disappeared, and there is only her and her sister Bonnie left. Once she left the Island she didn’t hear from Jill again.

Stella is watching the news when she suddenly sees a picture of her old house, and finds a body has been found right next to the boundary of the house. Stella feels that she has to travel back to Evergreen and find out who the body belongs to, but more importantly to find out why they left in such a hurry 25 years before. Stella returns to find that things have changed considerably, and the people are not all as welcoming as they were.

Sometimes memories are better than reality, and knowing more isn’t always a good thing.

This book is all about family secrets and how they can be kept hidden for years. The story follows one incident that happened on an island years ago and has only just come to light, it follows how this one discovery leads to finding out lots of secrets from the past. Is a very gripping story
