A game of seduction and running from the past will be what ultimately ties them together. Staying together only made them closer but will the lies push them apart? Danielle Rose is definitely a must read!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book for an honest review.

Jezebel Tate is a erotica romance author and she has a stalker that is getting too close and too dangerous. So Jezebel hires for marine James Blakely who beside looked good in a suit, gets hot and heavy with Jezebel. The sex scenes, like the rest stop, bath tub are hot, hot, hot. This book was sexy, suspenseful and a twist the reader didn't see coming. Loved this book and want to read more from this author.

This book draws you in from the first sentence. I could not stop reading because I needed to know what would happen next. Erotic, mysterious, and emotional are the words to cover this book. Jez and Blakely sigh...I LOVE everything about this story! I want more!

Could have been more:
The title on this book was a bit misconceiving; it should have been "Lies we tell ourselves". Both of the main characters blamed themselves for tragedies that had happened to their families and they had closed themselves off and not dealt with the emotional ramifications. We see some evidence of Jezebel working towards this in the epilogue but the majority of the book dealt with the lust and physical attraction between her and her bodyguard. Jezebel was an apt name for her and I wished we could have seen more of a mature relationship develop between these two and not just the hints from the epilogue. I thought the ending was overly dramatic and not fully explained. Perhaps we are supposed to wait for book two? Also Jezebel's physical ailments didn't seem realistic and were overkill for me.
This book was short and only part one. It would have been been more enjoyable had it been fleshed out a bit and combined with the second installment to make a solitary novel. It was told from a single point of view and I missed having James's perspective, which we only got a glimpse of in the epilogue. It ends on a happy-for-now and I don't think I shall be bothering with book two.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading more! James and Jezebel's story is steamy, suspenseful, and has you on the edge of your seat during one particularly intense scene. These two have undeniable, off the charts chemistry the moment they meet even though James tries to fight it. Two souls tortured from an event in their past bond and become everything to each other. Loved this story!

I usually dont like books about security guards and their clients falling in love. I've read a few books with similar plots and they always seemed a bit cheesy to me.

This one wasn't one of those. This is one of those books that feels and reads completely organically. I loved the tension of the backstories, I thought that Jezebel was a very dynamic character and I thought that James was really swoon worthy.

The book read fast, was definitely a page-turner and definitely worth the read.

This was a first read for me by Danielle and I just thought this was just ok. I think the female character Jezebel irked me for majority of this story. Her alpha female characterization just didn't fit right. I liked James though. I just didn't like how quickly things progressed. The ending was a bit of a doozy. I don't think I'll be continuing with the next book.

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Received this book from netgalley as an ARC to share my review after reading. What a great book I have not read anything from this author before, and will now be looking for more of her work. Really enjoyed this book about an author and her hot bodyguard that she has to hire to help her deal with a stalker. Highly suggest reading

I enjoyed how Lies We Keep builds into a mystery from the first chapter, from there it never wavers. Is it possible to crave someone within desperation? Once having one taste, can that ever be enough? Come walk through Jezebel and James’s world and see for yourself.

Jezebel Cox a brilliant author who has a stalker that is making her life crazy. Against everything she wants, she agreed to having a bodyguard. Jezebel likes control in and out of the bedroom, but she is about to meet her match. Jezebel’s story had me gasping, crying at not only at her dilemma, but the strong emotions her character pulled in me.

James Blakely ex military/ bodyguard is an interesting hero, along with protecting people he is also protecting himself. His demons haunt him deep, will he be able to release them? Can he do the job he was hired to do or will he let his heart and passion get in his way? I was so enthralled with James, you can naturally feel his pull, but what held my interest in him was his shock that he could care deeply, even as his past haunts him.

Jezebel and James have huge ghost from their past that have hindered their ability to move on. You as the reader can feel the struggles of them both, but one didn’t get the clarity that I wanted. To me that was a huge part of the story. The supporting characters were in short demand, but a shining star named Tara bestie of Jezebel’s aided in giving Jezebel and James a light side. I liked how Tara let James know where he stood in the group of 3.

Lies We Keep is the first book in the Pieces of Me series by Danielle Rose and what a powerful first book by this author for me too cut my teeth on. This deliciously intense thriller kept me on the edge of my seat and reading cover to cover in one sitting. It was so good I slept with a light on in the hall and checked my windows. *I kid you not, DH laughs* I am hoping in the next book that I perhaps will have questions answered in the next book Truth We Bear. I rate Lies We Keep the highest rating with a Recommended Read but in truth, I feel it deserves a much higher rating.

Rated 5 Stilettos and a Recommended Read by Deb!

Jezebel is a romance novel writer. She loves the long nights to work and days to sleep. She prefers to be alone. Her best friend and literary agent Tara is the only one she lets get close. She has a stalker who is sending her letters and so she needs to hire a bodyguard. Even if she would like to pretend nothing can touch her. She is safe and doesn’t need one. But when James Blakely walks in she is ready to hire him immediately!!! They are a lot a like but can they resist the attraction? Will James be able to protect her or be too distracted? Book given to me by author and I highly recommend.

I have heard quite a bit about this book, so I was thrilled to have received this by the publisher. So a writer, Jezebel, is being stalked. Nasty letters are being sent to her, so Jez decides to hire a bodyguard, except when Jez first meets James Blakely; it’s not protection she is thinking about. These two hit it right off the bat. As things heat up between them, so does the stalker. It becomes a who’s who on who it could be. Then, the past comes back and Jez has to deal with it and her stalker. I am so happy, a second book has already been written including these 2; except now it concerns James’ past. I love this couple and together, they are stronger!

This was my first experience with Danielle Rose. I chose this book at first because the cover caught my attention. The story focuses on James and Jezebel (didn't love the name). Jezebel's need for a bodyguard brings her in contact with James. We don't get a ton of info on James. The next book is his POV, so I'm assuming we will get more there. We just know he is former military recently turned civilian. Jezebel is a famous author with a healthy sexual appetite and no qualms about asking for and going after what she wants. What she wants is James, and the feeling is mutual though he wants to try to keep a professional distance. He doesn't want to get distracted from what he was hired to do, keep Jezebel safe from a dangerous stalker. Jezebel doesn't comprehend the word no, so you can see how this gets interesting. The story moves pretty fast and definitely fulfills it's quota of suspense and sexiness. Jezebel was a bit more brash and "alpha" than I personally prefer, but I think many people will like that she is nowhere near the typical heroine. Their story does have a satisfying ending, and I think it works fine as a standalone even though it leaves you questioning a few things about James. I'm interested to know what the author has in store for this couple in book two.

I received an ARC for honest review from Net Galley.

I don't think the synopsis does this book justice, it makes it sound so basic but it had so many layers to unpeel! So much happened, and while some of it may have been predictable there were still so many twists and turns along the way. Jezebel never realized how much being a writer would put her in the spotlight. She just wanted to remain inconspicuous so she wrote under a pen name and rarely did interviews. Somehow that didn't stop her stalker from finding her, requiring her to hire a bodyguard. Without giving too much away, this is about the instant connection between Jezebel and her bodyguard (Whitney Houston anyone?? ;), overcoming the struggles of their pasts, and the secrets and lies that connected them but could also tear them apart. (oh and there's still the whole stalker situation!). I left this one fully invested in their relationship which is definitely a sign of a great read!

Lies we keep is about a writer who's being stalked, therefore needs to become recluse or hire a bodyguard. She does the later and then the story begins.

Ok, I have a real problem with reckless people in general, I worry too much sometimes and I can't fathom how someone who's in her situation can be like this. Better yet, for most of the book she's just really stupid.

But what really bothered me was the writing. Too much sexual innuendos, too much blushing and frozen momentos, and the description of all the war dobre, outfits, hair dos, make up. I really felt like I was reading a fanfic from the 2010's.

I wish I had liked, but it didn't work for me.
