His life wasn’t exactly how he wanted it with a looming deadline but his family and rugby is what he lived and breathed. Every single breath was dedicated to rugby then it all changed. Finding someone to share his life with so he didn’t lose his families business was difficult. Every woman he encountered didn’t give him the solace his needed. Could he remain strong and not fall for his assistant like his brothers before him? Sean will take everything he has ever known and reevaluate what is really important and give him the strength he so desperately needed. Loved this series!

Dirty Irish is the third book in the Murohy Brothers series and while it's not my favorite of the three books, I still loved the story. Sean needs a date to his brother's wedding, but also needs to find someone to marry because of his father's will. Sean is the last of the three to find a wife.

Leah is new to Ireland and has had bad luck with relationships in the past, determined not to act on her attraction to Sean she tries to play matchmaker for Sean. There's only one problem, she's the perfect match for him.

Watching these two navigate their relationship/friendship was entertaining and I was hooked from the very first page. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen and whether or not they would realize how perfect they would be together. Overall, this was a fantastic story and I can't wait to see what Magan writes next.

I really enjoyed Dirty Irish by Magan Vernon. This is the third installment to a series, which I have not read the previous two books yet, but it definitely stands alone. This story is well written. The characters are wonderful and so is the story. I will be checking out more from Magan for sure.

Thanks Netgalley!

Of the three books, Dirty Irish, was my least favorite. That doesn't mean I didn't like it I just liked it the least. I felt that Leah was petty with a lot of her decisions. She made such a big deal how she's doing what she's doing for her family but yet she wasn't thinking of that whenever Sean was trying to put his family first.

Dirty Irish by Magan Vernon is Book 3 of the Murphy Brothers series. While it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone. I’d only read Book 1 of the series before jumping into this one and had no issues.

This had a lot of potential, however it just fell off its mark. Sexy, great chemistry and endearing characters with the exception of Leah who I abso~didn’t like as the story progressed. She irritated me and was so whiney, cry me a river at times that I ended up rapidly skimming pages. Overall a good read and what didn’t work for me might work well for others.

Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

Mixed feelings on this one. 3.5 stars
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I definitely have mixed feelings about the story. It started out really strong and I was definitely loving Sean's character especially. But then the whining set in. Leah started her own "poor me I’m not good enough for anybody" routine and it put me off really badly.
There were a few other issues like inconsistencies in the story that twice caught me off guard and I had to go back and read to make sure they seriously were inconsistencies.
But the worst I thought is the fact that she convinced him that he needed to give up his dream in order to satisfy her desires and needs. I didn’t find that to be a great compromise. He totally knuckled under to keep her “happy“.
There’s really only one super hot scene in this book the rest is relationship building. The ending was decent I enjoyed that. However, this author uses the word "fecking" so many freaking times I just couldn’t take it anymore. Just use the correct word if you’re going to use it.
Overall good friendship romance but the female character was definitely not a favorite for me.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley to review
This is the story of Sean who loves Rugby and whiskey He also tends to love the female fans as he plays rugby for a living. But the clause in his Da's will will change evrytning if he wants the to save the Murphy's Pub empire. He needs a wife and Leah who has moved to Dublin for a job has vowed to help him find one. Even if that means she has to ignore her annoying litte I will never act on it attracrion to Sean. These two have sparks that will have you swooning and laughing out loud. I loved them and I loved that we got to see what the other brothers and their families were up to. This is a grwat read as were the other two for me. You could probably read this as a standalone but I think it would be better to read the others first as you will know exactly who the brothers and their women are and will love seeing them again.
I have not read the two previous books in this series but I believe it's not necessary because I figured out fairly quickly whom everyone was. I'm a big sports romance fan. This book follows the youngest of the three brothers of the Murphy clan in Ireland where he is a pro rugby player. There wasn't much rugby beyond his traveling for matches and a cute scene where he teaches Leah the rules of the game with her shoes as stand-ins for the player positions. Leah is a fiery Latina American in Ireland hiding/escaping from a failed relationship and clothing boutique business in Chicago.
I'm sad to say, Leah was not easy for me to like. She responsible and helps out her family with tuition money for her sister disguised as rent money. Honestly, I was a bit put off with the constant inner dialog about money and AP class fees. (The tests at the end of the year have a fee of about $100 each and if the sister is that smart she might take eight, ten at the absolute max. I get that she was also helping to save for college but that AP part was like a worm in my brain that yanked me right out of the story. Sorry.). Leah is guy shy after just being burned in a bad way, but it's clear these two have been flirting with each other from the previous books and kept in touch by playing Words with Friends and using its chat feature.
Sean is a cliche Irish athlete, whiskey and women in every city but a stipulation in his Da's will has him scrambling with five months left to find a wife in order to keep the family bar business/corporation. (The two older brothers have found their brides in the previous two books.). Hiring Leah to be his PA and help him find a wife is problematic in that he's got a serious crush on her. She's stellar at organizing his life and being a stand-in for him at company meetings but the dates aren't successful at all.
They can't resist their attraction and a one nighter becomes the new constant inner dialog back and forth. There is some cute friend bonding with Leah and Fallon, her bestie and wife of one of the brothers. There's a big secret, a misunderstanding and hurt feelings. The family are all involved and that's kind of sweet. I enjoyed the epilogue very much and love how it all wrapped up in a nice HEA.
This was a fun, quick read, all while set in Ireland. Sean is a pro rugby player, and, in order to keep the family business, he and his brothers all need to get married. Sean enlists family friend Leah to help him find good, romantic matches. Of course, feelings develop between the two and they must decide if they stay friends or attempt something more. There's also a twist that adds more to this decision. This was a fun read!
I almost forgot how much I loved books set in Dublin, they have this magic that no other book has.
This books was extra especial because it was the end of the Murphy Brothers quest to find a wife, and Sean the rugby player is the last one.
I was kind of surprised that Leah and Sean were the last ones but I'm also glad, because it added to the story.
Sean and Leah met at Fallon and Connor's wedding and while they were both attracted to one another, they didn't act on it, but they kept playing words with friends (I love this part because it's not the cliché "we texted once in a while" 💕) and after another failed attempt to date and eventually marry someone, Sean realizes that Leah is working at one of his pubs! So they chat and flirt but they don't let it get too far and suddenly Sean gets this idea in his head of hiring Leah as his assistant and giving her the job of finding his future wife, Leah agrees mostly because she needs the money and they start this cute friendship where they get to know one another while "planning" dates for Connor.
We obviously know where this is going... After all of these things happen, they go to yet another Murphy wedding and it gest a little (or a lot) complicated from there. I loved how this could have this clichéd way to go, but it actually ends up being a mess for both of our main characters, because that way you could see how they can grow and realize what they really want to do and while I should have expected the twist at the end, I totally didn't, which is one of the reasons I loved the ending so much.
Overall it was a fun and entertaining book, I found myself laughing so much while reading it and I finished it as fast as I could because it was that good.
This is book 3 in the series and features the youngest brother, Sean who is a rugby player. He falls for Leah, his Sister in lws American friend who has to come to stay in Ireland and works at his families pub. He has to get married within the year and so he hires her as his asstistant and to find him a wife. However he has always had the hots for Leah even if she does not reciprocate.
I have really loved this series. Book 1 was the best, book 2 was good too but this one I did not love.. I did not love Leah and in fact I didnt understand why she avoided Sean. Sean is pretty terrific though I did not understand his fascination with Leah.
Dirty Irish by Magan Vernon a five-star read that has the luck of the Irish. This is the third novel in the Murphy Brother series, they each feature a different brother and they all flow into each other, but you could possibly read them as stand-alone but you will want to go back and read them all as each brother seems to be hotter than the last. Sean Murphy is a great man, I haven’t always thought that about him, in the previous stories he popped up and I wasn’t much of a fan, I have since come round and am whole heartedly team Sean now (he may even be the favourite brother, but that could just be the beard). Leah has always been a soft spot for me, her spark and sass just made me chuckle all the way through, I did want to shake her at times, but I also loved her to bits. This story is filled with passion and drama, the writing will make you chuckle and your gut drop, it may even make your eyes shine. But most of all it will make you smile and give you a great story that you would be sad to miss.
I started with book 3 of this series not always the best BUT the author Magan Vernon bring readers up to date quickly in the first few pages of the book. The story moves quickly as does the love hate between The American and The Irish Man. The characters are likable, sweet and human.
The story is very predictable as most romance stories are but it makes it easy to put the book down and return later.
The reason for the 3 stars is because this story is similar to another author I had recent and while it is just a little different I found this one lacking fun that is needed in this type of romance series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Entangled Publishing for the advance copy of Magan Vernon Dirty Irish.
This was my first Magan Vernon read, so I didn't read the previous two books. At times, it was confusing figuring out who was married to who, but I don't think it was that hard to follow along and this could easily be read as a standalone.
Sean's family owns Murphy's Pub, a large chain of pubs that apparently is a billion dollar business. After his dad died, they learned that in order to inherit the pub, each of the three sons had to marry within a year of his death. Sean is the last of the sons to find his future wife and he's feeling the pressure. He's also the only one who doesn't work for the family business in action, only in name. He's a superstar rugby player apparently with high hopes of moving up to a better team.
Leah has just moved to Ireland after her business partner was caught having a relationship with Leah's boyfriend. So she cut her losses and moved to Ireland. She agreed to work as Sean's assistant at Murphy's Pub and help him find a suitable wife and in return, she gets a nice paycheck and a free flat.
Apparently the two had some chemistry in the last book, but in this one, they try to keep things professional, even though they both obviously have the hots for the other. I liked Sean, he was honest with himself on how he felt about Leah, he just didn't want to spook her and tried to keep hands off. Leah liked Sean, but she kept herself from moving forward because of some self-esteem and personal issues. I really didn't get it.
I would have given this a higher rating, but I honestly disliked Leah an awful lot. I tried to like her, I really did, but she was way too stubborn, stuck on the whole clause and really didn't give Sean a chance. It was just incredibly annoying when that back and forth inner dialogue happened most of the book. Then there's the whole secret she's keeping and that's honestly one of my biggest pet peeves and turnoffs in books. I mean at least he found out and she didn't keep it from him for long, but the reasoning behind waiting to tell him her big secret was just too stupid to even give her the benefit of the doubt.
They get their HEA in the end and it's cute to see how far they grew as a couple. For that, I was happy and pleased in how Leah turned out. I don't think I'll go back and read the previous books though, but this one wasn't terrible. I normally like this type of book, I just couldn't like Leah as a heroine.
I love this series! You can’t help but fall a little bit for each of the brothers! Another great story about a few brothers, their girls, and a bar!
This is my first book by Magan Vernon. I enjoyed this story and how the writing flowed. While this was the 3rd book in this series it was a stand-alone and easy to follow without any back story on the characters. I look forward to getting the first two books in this series
Thank you to magan and netgalley for the advanced reading copy!
Love a book with Irish men and Irish accents!!! This is the 3rd and final book in the series. I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest / voluntary review. I admit I have not read the 2nd book but I was not lost. I loved it. This is Sean’s story. He’s the baby and the last Murphy brother that needs to find a wife. He’s a famous rugby player too. He’s had the hots for Leah (Fallon’s best friend) since book 1. They have become friends and play word games on their phones. After being dumped by.his date (who he thought to ask to marry him for the company he is sad and thinking about his life when he thinks he sees Leah. It IS Leah. She’s working in Murphys Pub after breaking up with her boyfriend. He hires her to find him a wife. Leah is very attracted to Sean but doesn’t want to fall for him. Sean can’t seem to give up Rugby for the company. Magan delivers another hot story that is really believable. I loved the back and forth between them and of course I love all the brothers. The HEA was perfect!!! I’m so glad that I stumbled upon this series.
I love a good Irish series! I didn’t read the first two but you don’t have to in order to enjoy this book. It centers on Sean and Leah and their romance. I do feel some things were rushed and not all that realistic but overall I did enjoy it. 3 stars. Thank you to netgalley for the book.
I already liked Sean and Leah from previous books, and now I love them after reading theirs. These two are trying to help their families, while also trying to figure out how to help themselves. Pasts and futures are all they've focused on, but when they choose to focus on the present, it's better than I could've hoped for. I loved this entire series so much and I can't wait to read more from this author!
3 Sometimes Right In Front of Your Face Stars
* * * Spoiler Free
Why is it people who are attracted to each other keep thinking of reasons why not to recognize the writing on the wall? Sometimes people just need to go for it...especially if there is a spark of friendship and chemistry. In Magan Vernon's Dirty Irish, this was the huge quandary which kept me at my wit's end. As part of the Murphy's Brothers series, the basis was a clause in Da's will. All three brothers needed to be wed by the year anniversary of his death and said marriages had to last at least six months. If all of the brothers did not do as directed then the company their father had built would be turned over to the board and sold.
Now, none of these blokes had women to easily marry at the start of this series. But at the start of this third entry, the only brother left to find his woman is Sean, the talented and famous Rugby player. All pressure is on him and it is not sitting well on his shoulders.
For rugby has been his devotion all of these years. As much as he loves his brothers, they were the ones who his Da blessed with smiles and praise. Instead, Sean was told his rugby playing amounted to a hobby and he needed to get with the program and come work in the company's office...tied to a desk.
Sean knows how serious this finding a wife is and wants to find someone he would actually care about. Trouble is, he has never been one to romance anyone and the latest woman he has dated more than a month just flat out turned him down. Sean doesn't have a clue what he is going to do... the only woman he has any type of relationship is living in Chicago and plays a mean Words With Friends.
Leah is that friend Sean plays with...Fallon is her best friend and she now is to married Connor. Leah was at that wedding and when she saw Sean, there were sparks but she knew to stay very far away. Now she is there in Dublin working at one of the Murphy's Pubs as a bartender. It was a gift from Fallon when she heard of the situation Leah was in. Her ex and business partner decided to get busy all over a new shipment of dresses in the boutique Leah owned. Once that happened, everything started to go downhill business-wise. Unfortunately, Leah couldn't keep the doors open and had to close her shop. It had been her dream...Fallon held out the opportunity to come to Dublin, get her head straight, and have a fresh start.
Leah grabbed it and there she was bartending. Sean walks in stunned to see she is there. These two had chemistry with an undercurrent which sizzled. Both knew it but because Leah had shot Sean down before, Sean tried to be cool seeing her there. Conversations happen, acknowledgment of the will and clause, and before you can say Guinness, Sean offers Leah the position of his assistant. He needs to have someone get him organized and arrange dates for him to find an appropriate marriage candidate. With the terms of a flat to live in and a salary which would cover the expense of her sister's education, Leah cannot say no.
Both know they are attracted to each other and it is going to be hard to fight this...But hey, they are strong and will just have to stay focused. No problem...Yeah, Sure...
This is a tale which had its moments. Sean can be a bit dense but overall is the sweeter of the two. There is this pressure on him, the need to marry so the family can keep the business, his love of rugby, how it conflicts with being part of the business, and this out and out want for Leah. He really liked her not just due to chemistry but for more and it showed from the start. Leah had more hang-ups about the situation she was in. Yes, she wanted Sean...crazy attracted but didn't want to give it a possibility of growing. The clause and everything it represented clouded her mind about all of it. Personally, this was my biggest issue because when it was all said and done...She was into him and he into her so if they were just open and forthcoming, it could have been so delightful...
But then it would have been a different story... and this was what our author had in mind...more conflict with the best outcome for the couple. I did do a woo ho when Fallon had a "Talk to Jesus" moment with Leah. It rang extremely true and what a good friend would do. When reading this I also felt as if the "Irish" was authentic and seemed natural. All of these books can be read as stand alone.
