What a fabulous read by new to me author Teri Anne Stanley. You had me at Sexy Cowboy and a scruffy dog, little did I know how much more this story would be. A well penned, intriguing story with relatable characters. I look forward to reading more of this series and by this author.

Big Chance Cowboy is my first read by Teri Ann Stanley, but it definitely won’t be my last! I’m so glad I was introduced to this fabulous author with her easy writing style and flare for incorporating real-life issues with heartfelt and touching emotion. The story is bursting with complex characters, an intense and all too real storyline, and a support cast that adds an engaging substance to this wonderful romance. I look forward to reading the next exciting story in what’s sure to be an addictive series.

Cowboys and dog rescue- I'm in. Adam was a K9 handler in the Army and after a mission gone horribly wrong he is now home on his family ranch. His goal is only to fix it up and sell it, give the money to his sister who is now caring for the man who raised them both their Granddad. Adam isolates himself on the ranch, his case of PTSD is in full bloom and was well written by the author.
When Lizzie returns to Big Chance with a broken heart and no job, back living with her parents bringing along a beast of a dog who got in her car at a gas station and refused to get out. Lizzie's mom doesn't do dogs, so she turns to her friend Emma who is Adam's sister and of course she takes the dog to the ranch. Adam is none too happy. He and Lizzy have history too. So there's a story there.
As the story unfolds, a couple of his team members call and then show up at the ranch. Adam is at a loss for what to do, weighing his guilt and debt he owes these guys yet these things disrupt his long term goals. He's already told Lizzie he plans to sell and leave, she's given him instructions to fix the place up before it's even marketable. Meanwhile a couple more dogs join the group and Adam's instincts kick in.
I think this book had a good plot, the writing at times was a little convoluted but still readable and the characters I enjoyed reading about. The story was focused more on Adam and his development and the romance between he and Lizzie was a little low key through most of the book. It's a good read and I'll definitely read more of the Big Chance ranch books.

Quite frankly, this book had me at dog rescue. Throw in a veteran turned cowboy, second chance romance, small town drama, a little intrigue and you have an emphatic yes from me. I found the writing a little disjointed and the actual romance only lightly delved into (it seemed to be a secondary story to Adam’s emotional development) but the story line and character development kept my attention to the end. The author touches on some serious topics such as PTSD and dog fighting but does so in a perceptive and realistic fashion. Looking forward to reading more about the characters at Big Chance Ranch Rescue.

Loved this book. What’s not to love cowboys and dogs. Great plot and characters. I highly recommend this book. I received an arc from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

This is the first book I read by this author, and now I am hooked.
Adam Collins, a former MP Army Ranger, is back in Big Chance after his last mission. One that not only changed his life, but also that of his unit. He’s now become a hermit and suffers from PTSD.
Lizzie Vanhook has decided to return home jobless, heartbroken and with little self esteem.
A dog not only brings them together, but also gives Adam and his friends a purpose in life.
This was a touching story that at times was heartbreaking, and one in which the author reminds us of the effects war has on the brave men and women who fight for our freedom. Some return with physical injuries, others with psychological and emotional ones. We as a nation, need to help them integrate back to civil life and in this case a way to help might be with support dogs.
This was a well written , engaging story with complex characters you will come to love. The secondary characters were just as interesting and have the potential of having their own story in the future.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Sourcebooks. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I so enjoyed this first book in the series and really look forward to reading the next. Lizzie Vanhook is back in Big Chance, Texas. She has no job and is living with her parents. Stopping to check her tire pressure, she finds a large dog in the backseat, a stray that refuses to leave. Lizzie approaches former military and dog handler Adam Collins to help her with D-Day, the dog. Adam is dealing with PTSD, his guilt over the loss of his K-9 Tank and a mission that went so wrong. His plan is to sell the ranch, make enough money for his sister and grandfather (who has dementia) and then head out of town. That is before he meets Lizzie who turns his life upside down. Such a wonderful story of a man who feels responsible for everyone around him, his former military buddies who show up at the ranch and the dogs that need his care. Danger soon enters his world as a dog fighting ring has been exposed. Can he save the dogs and his future with Lizzie? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

BIG CHANCE COWBOY by Teri Anne Stanley is a fast reading story that was impossible to put down! The story includes returning veterans and puppies. That's all I have to say!

I really liked this story. It had humour, drama, dogs and love. A couple of sensitive and heart breaking subjects were in the plot and they were handled very well. Overall, a very enjoyable book that should spring some followup books that I look forward to reading. *I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Dogs and cowboys, what’s not to enjoy?

This is a fun to read romance. The characters are wonderful and believable.

The storyline is good and easy to follow.

3.5 stars.
A tortured hero, stoically carrying the burden of survivor’s guilt, and a heroine with insecurities feature in “Big Chance Cowboy”, by Teri Anne Stanley.
Exploring the “I’ve loved you for years” trope, “Big Chance Cowboy” is an enjoyable read with likeable characters and a group of dogs that will touch your heart.
Adam, the tortured hero, and Lizzie, the well-rounded heroine, have their second chance at love, while the story introduces what I suppose is a gallery of wounded heroes that will feature in the Big Chance Dog Rescue Series, with serious, painful, realistically depicted injuries and afflictions.
Talbott is the quintessential stoical wounded hero downplaying his injuries, and I can’t wait to read his story; the same for Jake, trying to recover from a debilitating and frustrating traumatic brain injury.

I loved this, dogs, dog loving cowboys and romance all my favorite things wrapped into one. It also touched on some pretty serious topics such as the aftermath of men gone to war and dog fighting in such a way that draws attention to a cause and gives a real glimpse into the effects of each.
The characters were relatable as were the issues they each suffered and I love the town and can’t wait to see how it blossoms in future books.

Big Chance, Texas – Present Day

In his last disastrous foray to find a drug dealing bomb builder in Afghanistan, Adam Collins’s bomb-smelling dog, Tank, exhausted like the rest of the men in the unit, failed at his job. A bomb went off killing Tank and one man. Three others were badly injured, but Adam was uninjured—except for his mind—and blames himself for the failure. Nine months later he is back in Big Chance on his grandfather’s ranch. A ranch where his grandfather had raised dogs, but not horses or cattle. Grandfather suffers from dementia and stays in town with Adam’s sister Emma. Adam is isolated on the ranch that needs many repairs to the buildings, which is good as he hates encountering people. His body and mind, due to overwhelming PTSD, react in terrifying ways. He wants to fix the place up, sell it, give the proceeds to his sister to take care of Grandfather, and seek his greatest desire--to leave everyone and everything behind. The last thing he wants is to encounter the woman who has haunted his dreams for the last twelve years.

With nothing left for her in Houston, Lizzie Vanhook is returning to Big Chance. Lizzie isn’t happy to have lost her job in Houston, but her demeaning former business partner and ex-fiancé had discarded her. She is glad to be rid of him, but he devastated her self-image. Her father has been diagnosed with cancer, and while he has a good prognosis for recovery, right now he needs her help to keep his realty business going. While traveling to Big Chance, a stop at a gas station changes everything for Lizzie. A huge dog climbs in the backseat of her car, and she can’t get it out. Lizzie, finally feeling sorry for the mangy beast, decides to find it a home. Her mother hates having a dog in her house, so hearing her first love, Adam Collins, has returned and lives at his grandfather’s ranch, Lizzie asks him to train the dog she has named D-Day. As with people, Adam wants nothing to do with any dog. He tells Lizzie he’ll instruct her in how to train D-Day.

BIG CHANCE COWBOY is a story full of surprises. The small community is dwindling, and nefarious things are happening. Adam’s wounded army buddies show up needing a place to stay, as do numerous abandoned dogs, plus he fights his must have Lizzie attraction knowing he isn’t good for her. It is a story of second chances, recovery, and rediscovering a future. Readers will enjoy the characters who all show serious weaknesses and great strengths.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I loved it. It had a great cast of characters. They were realistic, damaged and endearing. It had a well developed storyline that flowed seamlessly. It also had numerous loveable dogs. I hope that this is a series and many of the characters get their own story. I would love to read more about the vets and dogs on the ranch and I would love to read Adam's sissters story.

Lizzie has just returned to her hometown of Big Chance, Texas after ending a long-term relationship. She is looking forward to helping her parents, catching up with old friends, and starting a new career.

Adam returned to Big Chance after his tour of duty ended. Soon a few of his former military comrades and a slew of homeless dogs land on his doorstep. Can he turn away from everyone he cares about or will Adam get past his demons and find happiness with Lizzie in Big Chance? Here’s to hoping for more books to come focusing on Adam’s “family.”

A romance that is complete with dogs and damaged, but enduring cowboys. A western romance for those wanting an escapist read with some contemporary issues.

I fell in love with Big Chance Cowboy! I love that everything wasn't in a nice, neat package. There were real life problems and it took team work to address the issues. The only thing I did not like is that it ended. I hope that Teri Anne Stanley makes this a series. I would love to find out what Emma, Jake, Marcus and Zimmerman's futures hold. Regardless, Teri Anne Stanley has a new fan!
