I loved Every Last Breath so I was very excited to read this book. Forced proximity on-the-run? Neurodivergent heroine? Heck yes! It picks up shortly after the first book, and while you could possibly read it as a standalone, I think it works better as part of the series.

After the startling realization that the Grey Box has a mole, the operatives are desperate to identify who’s betrayed them. Gideon has been assigned to investigate Willow, one of the Grey Box’s tech gurus and their prime suspect, but things aren’t adding up. He’s certain she isn’t responsible, but someone is framing her, and the only way to keep her safe is to go on the run and investigate the evidence against her. But keeping his guard up around her is harder than he expected, and it’s not what either of them want. Can they clear Willow’s name before it’s too late?

“Whenever she talked too long, it was evident the motherboard of her brain was wired differently. People called her odd, peculiar. Her sisters preferred the term dweeb.”

I adored Willow. She’s blunt, unafraid to ask for what she wants (Gideon!) or take him to task for not respecting her. She’s on the spectrum, more specifically what used to be called Asperger’s. She has difficulty with social situations – many of her social responses are things she’s learned to end conversations as quickly as possible – and has various stims throughout the book, like touching her pearl necklace or playing with a pen. She also has sensory processing disorder, which mostly manifests in the styles and type of clothing she wears. She can be blunt and direct, but her compassion and kindness shine through. The representation felt respectful to me – being autistic doesn’t define her, it’s just another aspect of who she is – but I wasn’t able to find an ownvoices review to confirm.

“She was refined and had a gift for creating elegant programs. He was rough around the edges and had a knack for terminating threats. They were different breeds.”

Willow has been low-key cyberstalking Gideon for basically forever, even hacking into classified mission files. That could be considered a negative, but for Gideon, who had to hide everything about work from his previous wife, it’s actually a relief. Gideon is, basically, an assassin, who gave up his chance at going pro in football to join the CIA. He’s a widower and still has emotional scars from the marriage. One of the barriers to their relationship is Gideon believing he’s not good enough for Willow. He’s done a lot of, well, not very good things in service to his country, and he can’t help viewing himself as a monster in contrast to Willow’s sweetness. He vastly underestimates Willow, however, as she’s familiar with what he’s done (yes, even the parts she had to hack in to view) and doesn’t judge him for it. Willow doesn’t value herself highly enough and can’t initially understand what he sees in her, either. Willow has feelings for Gideon, but soon understands that she’s only an assignment for Gideon – he’s only interested in finding the mole, not her. Their chemistry is electric from their first kiss and only gets better.

“The point of loving someone isn’t to be made happy by it. The point is to be better because of it. It’s not your job to make me happy—that’s mine.” She’d learned a lot about love watching and listening to her parents. “And I’m happier with you than without you.”

The pacing is excellent, and the romance and thriller plot lines are perfectly interspersed. From dodging the bad guys to trying to find the mole to hiding from the other Grey Box operatives, multiple balls are always up in the air, though they’re mostly all resolved by the end of the book. Besides Willow and Gideon’s POVs, we also get POVs from Sanburn, the director of the Gray Box, and two of the bad guys. While I’m one of those people who thinks too many POVs slow down a thriller, in this case each worked well to further the story and heighten the stakes, as well as giving us tantalizing tidbits about the bad buy’s motives. It’s an intense read that’s hard to put down.

“When he looked at her, he didn’t see a target or a mission. Only an exquisite woman, tender and sweet, ready to open herself. She was giving him the precious gift of her trust—a miracle and a mistake inextricably tangled.
He was a bad man, who did bad things for a living.”

Overall, this book definitely delivers the romance and thrills. This author has easily become my favorite romantic suspense author, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

I received this book from NetGalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Nothing to Fear was a fast paced, exciting romantic suspense. I have no big complaints about the story. It was satisfying. Gideon and Willow were hot, which really boiled down to how much Gideon was in love with her. The hunger Gideon felt for Willow was palpable. Tantalizing. I could feel his ache.

I also enjoy reading romance novels when one of the love interests is on the spectrum, so that made Gideon’s tenderness even sweeter. We need more autistic representation.

Overall, it was a fun and fast read. I’m still not unhappy with the Final Hour series, and I’ll be looking forward to Castle’s story next.

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

You know what, I liked the first book until I got to the end. Then I got annoyed over the cliffhanger.

This can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading the first one too.
It’s intense, it’s entertaining and it’s action. It’s a good book to curl up with on your favorite sofa.

Sweet romance thriller. I liked how Mic's and Willows relationship grew gradually. Willow is autistic and I admired how Much treated her for the most part with love and respect. The action packed scenes where entertaining and the plot interesting. Decent novel.

I liked the suspense and the unique characters in this romance.

There is a mole in the secret, off the grid, government agency the Gray Box. Gideon Stone, Reaper, is one of the handful of operatives who is not under suspicion. He has been assigned to investigate Willow Harper, a cryptologist and computer tech wizard who is one of the suspects. Gideon believes that Willow is innocent, and his opinion is reinforced as he gets closer to her and learns more of her secrets.

When the evidence points directly at Willow, Gideon is convinced that she is being framed. He determines that his task is now to protect her and that they have to get out of the office before she is taken into custody.

Gideon and Willow escape the base under fire. They know they are on the run from their own team of operatives and soon they realize that they must survive professional assassins coming after Willow, and now Gideon too. The pair cling together as they dodge death and try to uncover the identity of the true traitor.

Meanwhile, Gideon is trying to resist his personal interest in Willow. In his mind, she deserves better than a trained killer which is what he is when needed. Willow is enthralled by Gideon and his ability to survive a troubled childhood and a brutal occupation. She would like nothing better than to steal moments with him, even for a limited time. But if she gets her wish will she really be able to step back into a co-worker attitude? And will Gideon be able to turn his back on her?

I really liked the unusual personal issues that Willow has to deal with. This added a special element to the story and her relationship with Gideon. As in the first book, Every Last Breath, the plot is suspenseful, tension-filled and intense. Unfortunately, I felt this book was more focused on the sexual tension and relationship between Willow and Gideon than on the traitor and underlying enemy issues. I don’t mind character chemistry, but I prefer it when that is the second element with the suspense taking priority. I still enjoyed the story but would be a bit more cautious about jumping into the third book. I can recommend this as a strong romantic suspense and a good read for those who enjoy focus on the personal/sexual elements.

Book two picks up where the first book, "Every Last Breath" left off. This book is not a stand alone book and the series needs to be read in order. There is a mole in the Gray Box organization, a secret black ops operation. This time around, we are following Gideon, who is a highly qualified assassin and interrogator. He now has to investigate his lovely co-worker, Willow Harper. Willow is a smart computer analyst/hacker who has Asperger's Syndrome. Although the evidence points to Willow, Gideon knows in his gut she is innocent and goes against his tight-knit team to prove them wrong. There is a lot of action in this mystery thriller that will keep you turning the pages as fast as you can.
Thank you very much to Netgalley and the publisher for the digital advance reading copy.

Someone in his unit, someone they trusted with their lives, had murdered a suspect in custody— here in the ultrasecure facility right under their noses.

The Gray Box is a so deep undercover organization in the US government that even people in the know don't know about it, and they have a mole. The first in the series, Every Last Breath, introduced us to the Gray Box and the men and women working to keep America safe. The idea of a possibility of a mole is talked about there and by the end confirmed, Nothing to Fear is the story of Gideon, known as Reaper, going rogue to protect one of their programmers and hackers, Willow, from being set-up by the mole. You could start the series here but you'd miss out on the foundation of character relationships and the author does such a great job of constructing the plot that I think it is worth it to read the series in order.

When he looked at her, he didn’t see a target or a mission. Only an exquisite woman, tender and sweet, ready to open herself. She was giving him the precious gift of her trust— a miracle and a mistake inextricably tangled.

Nothing to Fear was just about a non-stop action ride that I highly enjoyed. As this is romantic suspense, I do think the romance could have been a bit stronger but if you enjoy action and a strong plot, this is a must read. For me, not completely feeling Gideon's character contributed to the romance not feeling as strong. He's infused with more emotional bearing than the typical alpha males in this sub-genre but the slower reveal of his background kept me from knowing him. At the end there was also a bit too much, “I'm not good enough for her/I'm too damaged” that starts to feel angst for angst sake after reading the majority of the story where the couple has already fallen in love. Our heroine Willow felt more like a complete character and her always feeling like an outcast because of being on the spectrum will tug at some hearts.

The power she had, to have him unraveling with a look.

This is the second book I've read by this author and while I've enjoyed the lead romances, I think where this author really shines is her ability to construct these twisty turn-y, high action plots carried out by main characters you want to fall in love and secondary characters you become wildly impatient to read their books. The concept of a super secret government group isn't new to the romantic suspense world but I do feel this author is top notch at pulling it off. The ending conclusion and wrap-up on some of the mole plot was a little rushed (the main baddie had a background that I would have actually liked explored more) but for the vast majority I was locked into the action and flew through this book.

If you like romantic suspense, I highly recommend this series. The romance does take a backseat at times but you'll find yourself invested in all the characters and the engaging plots. I can't wait for the next in the series.

Another very well written story.

The writing was strong and realistic, the mystery tantalizing and the romance volatile and endearing. For fans of romantic suspense/thrillers, this book will keep you entertained, page after page.

I have read the other book in this series and really enjoyed it and this one is even better. Gideon and Harper caught my attention in the first book and I loved reading their story. One of the great things about this series is the strength of the secondary characters, it leaves you longing for their story too.

Nothing to Fear is an action-packed pageturner. At the start of the book, we learn there is a mole within the gray box. The team has to act quickly to determine who has been working against them. A core group of 6 who had alibis, split up the rest of the team and each decide to investigate one of the others.

Gideon chooses to make Willow his target. He’s been secretly interested in her for a while and doesn’t trust anyone else to handle it correctly.

From there, the story takes off into non-stop action. If this were a movie - I would compare it to summer action blockbusters, lots of stunt people needed, many fight scenes, car chases, helicopters, boats, etc. For me - it was too much action.

I definitely think this is a matter of personal preference - but this wasn’t a favorite for me.

Thank you very much to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance reading copy.

Gideon volunteers to be the one to investigate Willow, the brilliant and beautiful Gray Box programmer analyst. Willow has intrigued him for years and Gideon is convinced that Willow can't be the mole. When Gideon realizes that Willow is being framed, he takes her on the run to keep her safe and to help discover the mole. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is an exciting non-stop romantic suspense book. Gideon has a lot of baggage from his past and from his job that has hindered him in relationships. Willow is a very honest and socially awkward (Asperger) character. It leads to many open and honest conversations between Gideon and Willow, which adds so much to the book. The book does have some steamy moments. I really enjoyed this book due to their relationship as well as the suspense. I love this book so much that I bought a paperback version to share with my family.

Second volume in the Final Hour series if which I recommend to read the books in order (you can find my review for the first volume here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2891550806?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1 ), Nothing to Fear begins directly where we ended in Every Last Breath: the bad guy dying in custody and the agents looking for the mole in the organization. Here we follow Willow, a cryptologist toward whom all the evidences point, fleeing with Gideon who doesn’t believe in her culpability.

Willow is an unusual heroine, meaning she suffers from a disorder on the autistic spectrum. She’s very intelligent but she needs clear bases and routine to function, and she has trouble with social interactions. However she has succeeded in hiding her disorder to most of the organization’s members by imitating some simple actions. However I thought she adapted quite well to he forced changes in her routine, and if it’s said at first that she’s disturbed and nearing a fit, it’s less and less mentioned as the story progresses. Her troubles have her question easily the hero’s words because she doesn’t understand what’s implied and doesn’t know how to interpret his actions, and she takes everything at face value.

Gideon is an interesting hero but he feels guilty for his wife’s death and so unworthy of Willow. As such he blows hot and cold on her for too long, which is especially annoying, but she’ll make him grovel a bit at the end, a fact I always appreciate  On the other side he’s super resistant to pain, he’s wounded in the abdomen, gets staples by the heroine, faces a tropical storm on a boat, and some hours later he’s rolling in the sheets with her with just a wince.

I found the plot as a whole well thought, gripping, and here again the actions are very visual: we feel like we’re really seeing the scene. The bad guys in this volume are more typical than in the first one. Here they act for money and power, and the glimpses in their thoughts don’t give the beginning of a bit of empathy. As for the traitor, I admit I didn’t guess its identity, even if I had a slight suspicion at one time I quickly put it aside, wrongly so. This traitor was well thought and hidden, and the reason for the treason was understandable.

All in all a second volume slightly less good than the first in my opinion but still a good reading time. An author I’ll follow from now on.

Book two of the A Final Hour series doesn’t disappoint. The characters are cleverly crafted and believable. Juno provides enough background details so you know what makes them tick. I like this series and look forward to Juno’s next book.

Final Hour #2, Picking up right where Every Last Breath left off this book would be better read if the first book was read prior to this one. They are separate stories with different protagonists leading the way but the big bad is the same and the past events are mentioned frequently and important. I loved this book! Juno Rushdan is so talented her suspense and action is exceptional, the romance between Gideon and Willow heartbreakingly good, and the book in general was a very satisfying read. From start to finish the books take hold of you and won't let go.

There is a mole in Gray Box, a super secret black ops organization that the higher ups are willing to just whitewash the whole thing and start over; that means kill who they can and discredit everyone else. Gray Box is running out of time to find the mole. Gideon Stone has taken it upon himself to shadow Willow Harper, he knows she's innocent he just needs an excuse to be close to her. But when new evidence is discovered it points right to Willow and there is only one thing Gideon can do to protect her until they find the evidence she needs to prove she's been framed, they run away.

Willow is a high functioning autistic, she's horrible in social situations but she can mimic people's reactions when needed to fit in doesn't mean she understand it she just knows that's what you do. Willow is also a genius when it comes to computers. Willow is confused when Gideon starts talking to her and showing interest in her when he walks her out to her car but is thankful if not a little embarrassed when he's there when her car's breaks fail and she almost dies. Willow is almost certain that now he knows about her autism that Gideon will leave her alone next thing she know Gideon is bolting out of Gray Box with her. Their only hope to find out who was really behind this is to follow the money. Along the way they give into their attraction but Gideon was married once before and she died because of him and no matter how much he's falling in love with Willow he can't do to her what he put his first wife through.

Overall, it's an outstanding book. Juno Rushdan has definitely become one of my must read authors.

After the adrenaline rush that was Every Last Breath, I had to press forward with this riveting and on the edge series with its compelling plot and charismatic characters. There is a mole in the Gray Box organization and they are setting up one of their own to take a hard fall. Another page-turner!
Review

Nothing to Fear is book two in the Final Hour romantic suspense series set against the world of covert, off the books operations and lethal people who struggle hard to find love. Each book presents a new couple and a heightened threat to deal with while working best when read in order.

Gideon and the rest of the Gray Box team are left reeling to know that one of them is a mole and selling out the team that is like a family. Some glaring facts point to it being Willow Harper, the quiet, organized and very gifted crytologist, but Gideon is convinced she’s being set up. She has caught his eye for some time and he is intrigued by her cool, put together demeanor who doesn’t seem to want friends and only wants to do her job. It’s his task to get close and discover if she’s the traitor, but he learns that lines are going to get crossed when this woman pushes him to put something besides the mission first.

Willow knows Gideon has a dark history as an assassin and interrogator- she’s read his file, but she is drawn to him anyway. She can’t believe that a guy like him would even notice a socially inept person like her. Then someone tries to kill her and she finds herself suspected to be a traitor to the job she has loyally worked at. Gideon was always lethal, but she didn’t realize her heart would be the biggest casualty.

I loved joining Gideon in learning what a delightful surprise Willow turned out to be. She is amazing in so many ways and doesn’t let Asperger’s or caring for an ailing parent hold her back. She is socially awkward and yet her giving and generous nature shines through into Gideon’s dark, shadowy world. He doesn’t stand a chance against the force of her blunt charm and I loved that Willow saw the real man and not just the operative even when he tried to push her away for her own good. They were sizzling together when they had the chance to catch a break while out trying to prove Willow’s innocence.

As to the mole plot that started in the previous book, the author tantalizes with glimpses behind enemy lines of the power behind the mole and the mole themselves. It didn’t diminish the suspense one iota and actually upped it. There were some harrowing scenes that had me on the edge of my seat. These people pulled no punches.

In the end, there was one series plot thread still left open, but it ended with a fabulous denouement and epilogue. I didn’t even sense the pages going by and reluctantly tapped the last page a few times nosing for more. Those who like black ops thrills with their romance need look no further than this smart and sizzling series.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ms. Rushdan was a new to me author when I read the first book in this series. I really enjoyed it and was looking forward to the next release. I was not disappointed. This book picked up right where the last one ended and kept you turning the page to find out who the mole was and if the they would be caught. Lots of suspense and action.

*Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for allowing me the opportunity to read this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After reading this fast paced romantic thriller, I believe it's my favorite series in the genre! There's just enough balance between action, suspense and romance to keep you reading in one sitting until the very end.

Synopsis
The sequel picks up where the first story left off with the mole embedded in Gray Box killing off the captured assassin before he can spill his secrets. The team at Gray Box is naturally suspicious when he winds up dead and Gideon is assigned to watch Willow, Gray Box's programmer. Gideon comes to believe Willow is being set up and the true mole is attempting to kill her off which puts them on the run from the mole, the organization the mole works for and Gideon's own people at Gray Box.

Pacing & Points of View
The overall pacing was fairly quick and I was able to read this story in one sitting. There were multiple points of view within this sequel including Gideon, Willow, the mole, Daedalus, and a few other characters. It was nice seeing other perspectives than the two main characters, Gideon and Willow, especially the villain's point of view. However, it did seem like too many perspectives to keep track of at certain times which took away from the main romantic story.

Characters
I really liked the diversity Willow's character and medical condition, Asperger syndrome, added to the series. It was done really well and balanced out the new alpha man Gideon perfectly. Willow was sweet, but blunt in her manner with people and situations. It often made her say what she was thinking which made everyone around her especially Gideon keep on their toes. I loved how this made her an odd, endearing and refreshing character that felt completely different than any other character I have read before.

Gideon was another fun alpha male character in this series and I'm glad he got his own story. He's a dangerous operative with a soft heart and slightly tragic backstory which makes you love him even more. Gideon and Willow were so entertaining to read running from one disaster to the next and forming a bond during it all. The author did a good job of balancing the action and thrilling parts with romance! I really liked both of the main characters, but I honestly wasn't feeling the chemistry throughout the entire book. It may have been a feeling of being pulled in too many directions by multiple point of views and not having enough time to dive deeper into the romantic relationship of these two characters. With this being said, there was chemistry and I did enjoy reading this installment in the series. It just felt a little less intense in the romance than the previous story. I did enjoy reading more about the villain's in this story including Gray Box's mole, their boss, and several other side villains, however some of it could have been cut out to keep the focus on the two main characters.

Overall
Overall, I really liked this action-packed sequel and I cannot wait to see what happens next! I absolutely recommend to anyone who loves romance with a lot of action, suspense and thrills. I'll definitely be picking up the third book in the series, because I can only see the series getting better as it builds on the previous book's foundations.

I wanted to finish reading Nothing to Fearby Juno Rushdan before September, but between my daughters’ hectic schedules and my migraines, I was not able to complete the book until 9/2/2019.

I love the Final Hour series by Juno Rushdan. This has been my first Romantic Thriller series, and I love the storylines and heart-pounding moments in these books. Juno Rushdan keeps me on the edge of my seat when reading the Final Hour series and I can’t get enough of it. Now, I’m counting down to the next book in the series after reading Gideon aka Reaper and Willow’s story.

There’s a mole in the Gray Box, and everyone is stunned it’s one of their own, but the person who is the mole is not the mole. There’s a traitor in their operation, and they have to find out who it is before they have more significant trouble from the government. Willow is set up to be the mole/traitor at Gray Box, and only one person in the Gray Box believes she can’t be the mole, and that is Gideon. He will do anything to prove Willow’s innocence. She’s one of the Computer Analysts/Hackers, while Gideon is known as the Reaper for his ways of interrogating and killing someone. Gideon will end up protecting Willow from the real traitors while trying to find a way to clear her name. Although, he never expects to fall for the analyst, especially after what happened to his marriage with his wife, who was killed. (I couldn’t stand his wife and what she did to him.) Truths will be revealed from both characters in this book. Willow will admit that she has Asperger’s Syndrome and Gideon suffers from not getting attached to someone due to his past.

Both characters are complete opposite’s of each other due to their jobs and personalities. Willow should be scared of Gideon, and he tries to convince Willow he’s not an average guy. These two characters end up having bullets shot at them and fists thrown at them at every turn. This is what you would call a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering who the real traitors are in the story. Readers will get not only Willow’s and Gideon’s POV but the bad guys too. There is so much going on that end up wanting more after the book is finished. I know I did.

Be prepared to be shocked at the ending, especially after finding who is the actual mole in the Gray Box. I was surprised, and so was other characters in the book. The one thing I enjoy about Juno’s writing is getting to know other characters too in the book.

If you enjoy a book that keeps you edge of your seat and keeps you turning the pages, then this book and this series are for you. Although the books each follow a new couple, I would recommend reading in order.

Story Rating: 4.5 stars
Steaminess Rating: 3.5 stars
Standalone or part of series: Part of the Final Hour Series and I recommend reading in order due to storylines.
Do I recommend this book? Yes.
Will I read other books from the author? Yes. She’s become an auto-buy author for me.
Tropes/Elements: Suspense; Thriller; Opposite’s Attract
Hero: Former CIA Agent, Former Quarterback Star; Scary Interrogator
Heroine: Computer Analyst; Hacker; Asperger’s Syndrome; Being framed for something she hasn’t done

“Nothing to Fear,” book 2 of the “Final Hour” took off from the last scene of “Every Last Breath,” the first book in the series. But this time, fearsome Gray Box operative Gideon Stone and computer whiz and cryptologist Willow Harper have taken center stage.

Hitting the ground running, Gideon and Willow found themselves in the midst of the biggest conspiracy in black ops. Any mistake they made could cost them their lives. And if they screwed up, then everyone they know – family, friends and all of their coworkers would be dead.

With action worthy of the Jason Bourne franchise and intrigues that rival those of Jack Ryan, “Nothing to Fear” brings you inside the Washington D.C. beltway, its suburbs and to the Grand Cayman. Everyone is a suspect, and no one can be trusted, even each other.

But, they have to start somewhere, so Gideon and Willow had to follow their gut instinct, which also led them to give in to the attraction they have for each other.

This sound simple, right? Not for Willow though who has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. Interaction with other people and communicating had always been hard for her. Plus, she could not tell a lie and more often than not, very literal.

So, the normal flirtations that were expected between two people just did not work, which in turn threw Gideon for a loop. So, even with their burgeoning attraction, Gideon and Willow were having a hard time relating. Add the fact that they were always on the run with bullets flying, it was hard to even get into first base!

Well readers, never fear; author Juno Rushdan ably and brilliantly wove Gideon and Willow’s unusual courtship in this mystery/thriller. There were even laugh out loud funny moments. But, don’t be lulled by Juno Rushdan’s fabulous sense of humor. Gideon and Willow’s lives were always in danger and Rushdan never made you forget that.

Nothing to Fear is only Juno Rushdan’s second book, but it is already obvious that she has mastered her craft. A wicked storyteller, her characters are so alive. And in this era of high-tech devices and AI’s, the scenarios presented are so believable that if a conspiracy theorist will have a field day.

Nothing to Fear is Rated T for Teens. Parental guidance strongly advised due to violence, black ops and some sexual scenes.
