I’m going to start with some brutal honesty here – I already own many of Colgan’s books and have enjoyed reading them on multiple occasions but I haven’t read her recent work. I feel that the descriptions and the inclusion of recipes were a bit gimmicky for me and that perhaps Colgan had moved towards a direction that I wouldn’t enjoy. So I just removed her from my essential reading list and moved on, still enjoying her previous work. When the opportunity came up for me to read this book I thought sure – why not? and got started. Now I wasn’t ready to write the book off before I started but I wasn’t either super keen to race through. Which meant I enjoyed the first third or so at a leisurely pace over a couple of days. But then, all of a sudden, I was in. Full on roquefort and baguette craving in. I raced through the rest of the book, remembering why Colgan used to be on my must read list and why she would be added again immediately.

So this book starts out in quite a depressing manner to be honest, an industrial accident add a teacher with terminal cancer doesn’t seem like the most interesting starting point, however Colgan is hilarious in how she writes. She is able to make even the most mundane interesting; the most cringey moments magical and the saddest times full of hope. We follow Anna (or AnNA) through her struggles to come to term with a loss of a body part or two, the loss of her job and the loss of her relationship. Her teacher from school (Claire) sets her up on a magical adventure in Paris with an old friend from her own youth. Full of chocolate and Parisian culture this story is heartwarming and bittersweet in equal measure. I’m looking forward to catching up on the other books I have to read from Colgan. I feel like I have hit the jackpot and found a new favourite author with a back catalogue!

I received an ecopy of this book from the publisher through netgalley.

This book will be published in the summer and is a welcome re-issue of a title by Jenny Colgan. This author's novels are always involving and heart warming.

In this one, Anna (who works in the chocolate industry in England) suffers a freak accident. While recuperating, she reconnects with her old French teacher, Claire. Claire encourages Anna to go to Paris where Anna takes a position in a very different chocolate business. Anna's ups and downs form part of the story. The other and equally engaging story is Claire's. The reader learns about the choices she made when younger and her feelings about them.

Jenny Colgan writes novels that tug at the heart strings and leave readers feeling satisfied. That is certainly the case in this novel.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks and NetGalley for a lovely time in Paris. All opinions are my own.

This is one of my favorite Jenny Colgan stories. I love the Paris theme, personalities, and plot line. As always I can’t wait for the next story and hope some of these books have a follow up.

The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris is another delightful work by Jenny Colgan. It's a charming and heart warming story about having second chances. The Paris atmosphere and descriptions were beautifully written, and I wished I were there. This story will make you smile and fill you with hope. Quite lovely read! Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I fell in love with the main character Anna. She has an accident in a chocolate factory. She's persuaded to work for a well renowned chocolatier. While there she meets someone, and she starts to fall for him. All the while you get glimpses of the past life of her boss and former teacher while the teacher was in Paris when she was a young teenager. A wonderful love story set in Paris.

Oh how I loved this book! It was filled with memorable characters and lots of places in Paris I recognized and wish I could revisit. Jenny Colgan rocks and this may be her best yet.

I loved this book. It is about lost love and finding happiness in unexpected places. I want to go to Paris and eat chocolate and just wander around Paris. I laughed and I cried then I went and ate some chocolate. This is my first book by Jenny Colgan but it will not be my last. I intend to read everything she has written.

Told in two timelines, from two perspectives, this story follows modern-day Anna and 1970s Claire through the same streets of Paris. It starts off a bit weirdly, with a freak accident and the two women reuniting in the same hospital ward, but I guess the author needed an impetus to begin the action. The descriptions of Paris were enough to make me want to visit a place I’ve never had an inkling to see before. The multiple romance lines don’t really leave much to mystery, but it’s still sweet to read. And the ending was incredibly sad. It’s a clean romance of love, loss, and overcoming…but it’s also a story of chocolate! At the end are some great recipes that I look forward to trying…

Never has a book made me want chocolate more. Adorable story, and delectable descriptions of the most amazing sounding desserts/chocolates. Jenny Colgan does it again!

Wonderful book if you are in the mood for a cute, romantic comedy.

I enjoyed the stories of Claire and Anna and their journey and developing love affair with Paris. It’s a charming story, full of romance but with that touch more so not to make it sickly sweet.

I’ve never been to Paris and yet I feel like I was able to imagine walking the streets and believe I was actually there - wonderfully written!

I just LOVE Jenny Colgan!!! One of my favorite authors. She has done it again. Such an awesome sweet romance. This story makes you want to go straight to Paris. You dive into one of Jenny’s novels and completely get lost into a beautiful world with such warm characters. I started reading this lovely book and read it in one sitting. I never have to read what her novel is about, I just see her book and pick it up right away. She never disappoints.
I highly recommend!!! Thank you so much Netgalley😊👍📚

Another very sweet love story from Jenny Colgan! I loved the two women at the center of this one and the ways each relived her story. The romances were swoon-worthy but they weren’t the entire plot, which I enjoyed. Colgan’s depiction of Paris is also dreamy and makes me want to visit straightaway!
