I can't help but think that the 101 in the title would have worked best in the title itself: F**k Plastic 101 because while this book is great, it seems almost like an introductory class in college. You definitely have to add more information in order to be well-versed. However, this does mean that it is great for beginners!

I really liked the message of this book, but wasn't a fan of the illustrations, and because of that I didn't enjoy reading this one.

This book is billed as 'The Zero-Waste Guide to Life!' Rodale Sustainability's F**k Plastic offers '101 Ways to Free Yourself from Plastic and Save the World'. Though I already do some of what's suggested here, I found many useful new tips as well as sources for items needed. Reducing use of plastics at the source can be effective ... if enough of us do, and demand, it.

"F**k Plastic" is a great read considering our current global crisis. There is a lot to be learned here and to be warned about. I'll definitely recommend this one.

This is a nice beginner book that helps individuals by helping them look at their lives and giving examples of things that can be changed. I do wish it was a bit more thorough but I appreciated that it was changes on a personal level. I enjoyed that it also showed how it's not an individual's "fault" because of the amount of packaging while letting people know about other options to cut down on plastic.

I think this is a great introduction for those who are looking to live sustainable. It's short and to the point with numerous tips and tricks that will allow anyone to approach living sustainably without too much hesitation. Although I do wish the tips and advice were a little more thorough, an example would be the tip on creating your own at home cleaning products—it would have been helpful to include a simple one, like vinegar with lemon peels and allowing it to sit in the cupboard for two weeks before diluting with water to use as an all-purpose cleaner. While helpful and informative in a way that won't make anyone nervous, all of the tips I have learned along the way over the past year from numerous bloggers and online resources for free, with far more detail.

A very basic and concise guide to reducing our plastic footprint in the world. Great ideas and solutions to minimizing the amount of plastic we bring into our homes and workplaces and what we should be asking of the retailers that insist on carrying the stuff that clogs our oceans, landfills and waterways.

Are you looking for ways to cut down on the single use plastic in your life? This book offers up 101 ideas for eliminating your need for throwaway plastic that can, and too often does, end up in our waterways and landfills. for easy reference, the tips are categorized under the following headings: food and drink, around the house, lifestyle and saving the world. Does anyone expect you to jump in and do everything at once? No, that's not sustainable change for most, if any, people. You can however start with one change and then keep adding something new as those changes become habits. Even though I've been on this path for awhile now and already follow many of these suggestions, I still found new things to try.

Thank you to Crown Publishing/Rodale Books and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

A cute little handbook for reducing plastic use and creating less waste! Lots of things I already do/know about, but also a few new things to try.

A fine book to be added to the recycling, reuse, reduce shelf! Any ways that plastic can be out of our lives is of interest to me, and this book provides some very practical means to do so. Recommended reading.

This book has good tips, but no help in implementing many of them. It reads like a BuzzFeed listicle. But the listicle would at least have links to where to buy things or how to make them.

F**k Plastic is a very informative book that has a lot of great ideas and some that are a little extreme for the average person.

You don't realize how much plastic has weasled its way into your life until you start trying to reduce and eliminate it... I know all this trash is bad, it's just so hard to know where to even start! I found a few good suggestions in this book. There were a few I found over the top, but that just means there's something I here for everyone. From the already super green to people like me who are just trying to do a little bit better than what we were.

This little volume was surprisingly informative, both on the HOW and WHY for reducing plastic usage. Some of the suggestions were a bit extreme as far as time, money or "seeking out" commitment, but many of them were entirely doable (and some I hadn't thought of before). This was definitely a thought-provoking and really usable guide - one powerful piece of information from the book:

"A plastic carrier bag is used on average for 12 minutes - but it'll still be here in 100 to 300 years. The water bottle you picked up at lunch could still be here in 450 (years).
Most plastic is recyclable, but lots of recycling plants can't keep up with the amount we consume each year, and sometimes the amount of energy required to recycle a product makes the exercise futile. This means a lot of plastic that goes in the recycling bin, along with the plastic put in general garbage cans, will end up on a landfill site. This is obviously not ideal (cue scenes from WALL-E) - but a whopping 8 million pieces of plastic also enter our oceans every single year."

I think we all know at this point that plastic is a huge issue to our earth. I love reading blogs and watching YouTube videos about how to be more sustainable, so I was excited to read this book. I think maybe because I have taken steps to educate myself in the past, I may not have been the ideal audience. A lot of the information seemed pretty basic, and while there was some good information about great sustainable companies and products to look into, a lot of it was the usual stop using plastic bags, etc. I think I wished there was more tackled in this book on bigger changes than using alternative products, like what to do if your area has very little in the way of recycling programs, or how to compost, even in an apartment. But I think for what it was, and especially for people looking for a basic intro into how to make some small, more sustainable changes, it has value.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy to read and give my honest opinion.

51 trillion pieces of plastic floating in the ocean seems to be big headlines these days and this book describes ways you can avoid filling up landfills with plastic.

What did I like? I felt like the author described plenty of ways to reduce your use of plastic, giving you alternatives to buy that are more eco friendly. Ever since a few weeks ago when a dead whale washed up with eighty pounds of plastic in his stomach I have been looking to reduce my use of plastic.

Would I buy this book? I think if you need to get all your info in one place this would be a great guide but it lists numerous online sites as reference. So as usual you can get all your info online if need be. I would start with anything your using as plastic and google eco friendly sites that will help. The book does list contacting the retailer if your finding their trash road sides and telling them, or contacting government for better laws which I agree with. You could start with the company you work for.

Thoughts for the author? I wish it had delved into more recycling efforts rather than just alternatives. I get tired of the area I live in not having better efforts for recycling and rather just sticking stuff in landfills. Or maybe a chapter on who to contact in government. Alternatives are costly so is it really an effective idea.

I gave it four stars...I think where there's a will there's a way but convenience usually wins.

This book opened my eyes to how much plastic I use in a day! I am definitely more mindful of it now and have started using metal straws and reusable grocery bags. Those are just two changes I have made and I am definitely going to be doing more.
