Princess Fuzzypants here: This is a fun, fast moving cozy which stars a basset hound and two cats. Oh yes, there are some humans and a murder and a wedding and some betrayals and scams but they are secondary to the animals. We join Daphne, her sister and future brother in law, their two diva mothers, and a wedding planner who is planning a scarper with the money from several events. The scarper is cut short when the wedding planner is strangled by a garter. Considering the fleeced brides she has left in the lurch, it is apt repayment.
Now Daphne must try to re-invent a wedding for her sister on a very tight time line. It doesn’t help that the future groom happens to be one of the prime suspects. A second death takes suspicion off him but there is still a lot to be done, including figuring out the murderer of not one but two victims. There are plenty of red herrings so that when all is revealed, there are some big surprises.
But as I say my favourite parts of the book are when the animals take over. In fact, without actually saying a word, they are quite eloquent...and very funny. It requires a deft paw to do that well. Kudos.
I give it five purrs and two paws up.

In this one Piper is getting married but the outrageous wedding planner gets murdered and things really start to fall apart for the wedding. Daphne wants to make sure Piper has a great day so she not only has to put up with the murder victim's cat who has a way of getting into weird places and not being able to get out.

Everyone finds out it seems that Abigail was committing a lot of fraud with her wedding planning, double or even triple booking venues, etc., so lots of people could want her dead.

Also Jonathan has been working out of town and has news about a new job offer giving Daphne a bad vibe as they just started dating. So she is all thinking about their relationship while trying to salvage Piper's wedding and figure out who killed the victim. Jonathan is  not on the case because he is too close to things which is one of his problems since it seems like every time a murder happens he knows someone involved, mostly Daphne being in the thick of things. I didn't think Jonathan was handling things very well throughout most of the book and it kind of made me upset a little.

I really love all the characters (now), I have wormed up to Daphne and now really like her, and also like her sister Piper, her best friend Moxie and all the rest.

I am so very proud of myself for figuring out who the murderer was before the MC did though this one was kind of tough and I thought I might not figure it out. It was a good mystery!

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Piper and Roger are getting married in the most over the top ceremony ever! An Independence Day theme complete with Statue of Liberty bridesmaids dresses, all thanks to the mothers of the bride and groom taking control. Too bad they couldn’t control keeping the pushy wedding planner alive. Abigail Sinclair is dead, dead, dead, floating in the fountain and it appears that the murder weapon was a borrowed blue garter.

Now maid of honor Daphne takes on getting her sister wed before Roger leaves the country and finding a killer since Roger seems to be at the top of the suspect list. Will the nuptials take place? They sure will! Even if Daphne has to shoot off a few fireworks of her own.

Daphne Templeton, her lovable basset hound Socrates, and her prickly Persian cat Tinkleston return in this delightful cozy mystery penned by Bethany Blake. Boyfriend Detective Jonathan Black is away on assignment working with an NCIS team in California but has promised to return to take part in the wedding. Daphne’s sister Piper is caught up in all the wedding drama as is Roger who hasn’t been a fan of wedding planner Abigail Sinclair since his mother and Piper’s hired her. Jonathan’s Chocolate Labrador, Axis, Chihuahua, Artie, along with Daphne’s best friend Moxie Bloom and her pet white rat named Sebastian also return. All the characters are well-developed and feel like old friends.

Ms. Blake wraps these wonderful characters in a mystery that kept me guessing right up until the end. Abigail Sinclair ticked off plenty of people, especially with her latest fiasco so it is not surprising someone wanted to take her down. She had a grand plan until someone nixed it permanently. I enjoyed each and every twist thrown in Daphne’s path and was utterly astounded when we reached the big whodunit reveal. The author brought in some elements from the past in an interesting way that played a big part.

Romance took a larger role in this installment, I mean it did include a wedding, but it was more than that. I can’t say more to avoid spoilers but the ending left me smiling ear to ear.

Fabulous characters, awesome pets, and a marvelous mystery! Bethany Blake takes readers on a Perfect Escape! Something Borrowed, Something Mewed is fun and entertaining, and a great way to spend a couple of evenings. I can’t wait to return to Sylvan Creek!

Review:

The characters are well developed and well rounded. Daphne is a busy person, running her Lucky Paws petsitting business and Flour Power, her pet bakery. But that does not stop her from becoming involved in a murder investigation. When her sister Daphne’s, fiance, Roger, is a person of interest in a murder investigation, she is determined to find the real culprit. I enjoy any time I get to spend with Daphne and her family (except her mother), friends and boyfriend. Moxie, Daphne’s best friend, is quirky and unusual, and I love it. And Socrates, her basset hound, is one of my favorite book animals of all time. I love the way that Daphne and him communicate.

The writing style flows smoothly and it defines the characters very clearly through their actions and words. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and this description pulled me into the story from the very beginning. I felt like I was right there in Sylvan Creek, Pennsylvania, watching all of the action taking place and listening in on conversations.

The mystery was well plotted and tightly woven. There were plenty of suspects to consider and clues to sift through and it was not easy to solve, which is how I like my mysteries.

I would highly recommend this book (and series) to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. Whenever I have a new book to read in the Lucky Paws Petsitting series, I know I am in for a great treat.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

in Weddings in mysteries always come with a corpse - in this case it's the wedding planner who turns up dead. Daphne's sister is getting married and their mother has hired a wedding planner which is stressful from day one. Tensions are high but was it enough for one of the wedding party to kill her? Turns out the lady had a list of enemies and Daphne jumps in to find the killer so the wedding can commence. This time she is investigating without the help of her boyfriend, a homicide detective.
Daphne never imagined she would be doing anything more than pet sitting the wedding planner's cat, Ms.Pebbles and helping her sister. The killer was not part of the festivities. Added to the mystery of who did in the wedding planner are an abundance of delightful animals and some equally enjoyable people. The setting is perfect for a cozy and the mystery didn't disappoint me. I'm happy that there will be another mystery coming out March, 2020.

My opinions are my own. As a animal lover I look forward to each new release in this fabulous series. This series has so many enjoyable aspects to it that you want to savor each new release. it is the definitive cozy mystery series complete with adorable animals and a fun sleuth.
This is the fifth installment in the Lucky Paws Petsitting Series. I have read the entire series and highly recommend the series for all cozy mystery fans that adore pets and a great sleuth.
In this next in series our savvy smart protagnist Daphne Templeton is busy amid fun preparations for the upcoming wedding between Daphne's sister Piper and her fiance, Roger. They are arguing with a eccentric wedding planner Abigail hired by their Mother and Daphne is trying to keep the peace.

Daphne is pet sitting Abigail's feline, Ms. Peebles during the preparations. and finds the body of his owner when she goes to check on the cat. Daphne is determined to find the right suspect by investigating on her own. She usually has the help of her boyfriend Detective Jonathan Black but he is out of town she sets out on her own to solve this case. She soon finds Abigail had lots of enemies and many had reason to want her dead.

The perfect mystery done to a pleasing conclusion and I enjoy the antics as always of the adorable Basset Hound , the cats and a mini pig which is delightful for all animal lovers. I love this series and each release is a delightful read with the perfect blend of pets, murder and great charcters. i cannot wait for the next release.

Daphne’s sister, Piper, is getting married. Piper’s mother and future mother-in-law want this to be the wedding of the year. However, when the wedding planner turns up dead just before the wedding, things take a turn for the worst.

This is my first book in this series. I enjoyed the mystery part but was a little overwhelmed with the amount the animals contributed their opinions of the activities.

Loved it! Family issues. A wedding. Cats and dogs. Romance and murder. Bethany Blake had me intrigued from the first page. I had to force myself to go to bed by noting that the rest of the story would still be there in the morning. Some sweet and predictable surprises. I know, how can a surprise be predictable? You'll see. I am eager to read the next one in this series. Lots of potential for some entertaining stories.

We all know weddings can be stressful, but this one is perhaps over the top. Poor Piper and Roger. Sometimes you can have too much help even from loving family members. How is Daphne going to handle everything that is thrown at her? What’s happening with Jonathan? These are some great characters and an entertaining story line. I love Socrates for many reasons and can’t wait to read more about him and Snowdrop. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Cozy Pocono Mystery
This cozy mystery takes place in the Poconos and is filled with pets! This is a fun story that has lots of different romances woven through the plot. There are some very humorous parts that still make me smile. I plan on reading more of this author's work. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

Daphne Templeton returns in the fifth book in the Lucky Paws Petsitting mystery series by Bethany Blake. In this latest book, Daphne’s sister Piper is getting married. Their mother insists on hiring a wedding planner who plans an extravagant wedding. When the wedding planner is found strangled with a garter, Daphne sleuths to find the killer.

This book is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I’ve only read one other book in this series, but I do plan to go back and read the others. It’s a cute cozy mystery series that has a small town setting, fun characters, and plenty of animals. Daphne is accompanied by her basset hound, Socrates, on her adventures. For the cat lovers out there, Daphne also has a cat and her pet sitting job in this book is for a cat.

One of the characters in this book is named Dorinda, so I thought that was cool. Not the same spelling as my name, but close enough. What made it even better was Dorinda’s mother’s name was Beverly. That’s my mother’s name. Weird coincidence.

A cozy mystery with humor and romance. A fun series for fans of cozy mysteries, especially cozies involving pets. I look forward to reading more of this series.

I received a free eARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Something Borrowed, Something Mewed is the fifth book in the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mysteries by Bethany Blake. This was the first in the series I have read but was able to get caught up quickly.
You have plenty of twists and turns, romance, friendship, and humor. You are kept guessing until the end. I love all the pets in the story and the pet friendly town.
I was given an ARC by NetGalley for an honest review.

This is the fifth in the series and not my first foray into the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mysteries.

There is the prerequisite death that must be investigated (the wedding planner - Abigail Sinclair) and other sub-plots. I enjoyed how these were woven together. Just made me want to continue turning the pages.

There are recipes for homemade pet treats that I freely shared with a friend who’s dog has IBS.

The pet friendly town of Sylvan Creek is preparing for their annual Wags 'n Flags Fourth of July Celebration. Everywhere old fashioned bunting drapes the historic buildings. The storefronts windows are festooned in red white and blue. The pet owners are preparing for the picnics, fireworks, and the grand finale Fourth of July All Paws on Deck Rowboat Regatta. All this serves as back ground for Daphne's main concern, her sister, Piper, is getting married.

Daphne is feeling overwhelmed. Her pet sitting business is booked solid. She has been commissioned to bake 300 hot dog or flag shaped cookies for Wags and Flags. As maid of honor for Piper, she is running interference between Abigail Sinclair, her mother, Piper and the bridesmaids. It doesn't help that her love, Jonathan, is still in San Diego.

There is a maxim "Bad rehearsal, good opening night". If only this were true. The wedding rehearsal dinner is completely over the top. Garish decorations that invite the dance sequence from Yankee Doodle Dandy, compete with a buffet where appearance seems to take priority over taste. The event planner, Abigail, single minded, imperious, demands Daphne care for Ms Peebles, a charming, seemingly befuddled accident prone cat. Then the whole event is up staged by a major thunderstorm, ending the party as the guests run for cover.

The next day, Abigail is found face down in a fountain. Apparently dead from strangulation. Piper's wedding is cancelled, the sleuthing begins. Socrates, Daphne's hound, is resigned.

Cozy mysteries feature stories written in a light humorous style. Rarely though is the author able to present the story in a highly comedic fashion. Blake successfully creates dialogue that is both funny as well as compelling, allowing the reader to choose just one more chapter before turning out the light.

This series shows special relationships between friends, couples and humans with their pets. However, my favorite thing in this story is how it is peppered with teasers that leave you hanging for a bit but not for too long and that it is mixed with fun, romance and mystery.

I have read and enjoyed all the books in this series but this could also easily be read as a stand alone. Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

Something Borrowed, Something Mewed by Bethany Blake is the 5th book in the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery series, and another great addition. Daphne Templeton keeps busy with her pet sitting business, Lucky Paws and her pet bakery, Flour Power. In this book Daphne sister, Piper, is getting married and their mother hires a event planner for an Independence Day theme. When a body is found murdered, Daphne is on the case. This book has more twists and turns, that kept me reading page after page. I love the unique people and situations in this book. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you love cozy mysteries, I strongly recommend this book/series.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Kensington Publishing. Thank you.

"Something Borrowed, Something Mewed" by Bethany Blake the fifth book in the Lucky Paws Pet Sitting Mystery series. I enjoyed this book and have purchased the previous four books so I can start at the beginning and be all caught up.

Even though I haven't read the previous books in this series, it didn't cause a problem as this can be read as a stand-alone. I must admit it did take me awhile to get into this book but that could be because I haven't read the previous books but about halfway in I was snagged and couldn't put it down.

I like the Protagonist Pet sitter Daphne Templeton as she has a soft spot for every stray and misfit who wanders into the quaint, lakeside village of Sylvan Creek in the Poconos Mountains. Her sister Piper, and Moxie are great friends to have and realistic. The characters are well developed and very likeable, and who doesn't love Socrates, her taciturn basset hound, and her tiny fuzz ball named Tinkleston. As a pet lover I really enjoyed the inclusion of all the dogs and cats.

There are plenty of red herrings, twists, turns to keep me wanting to find out what will happen next.

I cant wait for the sixth installment in this series, I recommend this to cozy lovers.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

I can't express how much I love the A Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery series by Bethany Blake. Everything about 'Something Borrowed, Something Mewed' was engaging. Daphne's interchanges with Socrates are hilarious and Daphne's family and friends are delightful. The mystery kept me guessing until the very end with twists and turns that were dramatic. I felt angst about the separation of Daphne and Jonathan so much so that when I stepped away from the book (to sleep) I had anxiety to get back. Please get this entire series. This latest entry is like a cherry on top of a delicious sundae! I need more as soon as possible!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
