I again love this book and this series. I love how Ivar falls for such a smart woman. It's really great to see him so impressed and happy to watch her mind work. One bad guy dies in this book but you know there are always more. We see more of Quade in this book though things are not looking good. We meet a new female who has had a rough life. This series just sucks me into the book that I don't want to put the book down. I can't wait for the next one.

The task continues to rescue Quade before his dimension explodes or before Ulric escapes.
Promise has a mind for math. Her brain could be the key to achieving all the demon nation has been trying to accomplish. The only problem, the Kurjan’s also know how close she is. And they want her to save Ulric.
It’s a race against time with her very own dark protector, Ivar helping her navigate this new world she finds herself in. But it will be a true test of her math mind to keep everyone she loves safe.
5 stars!!!

OMGoodness! I think Ivar and Promise are my new favorite DP couple. I mean, Ivar with his "Grunt. I am man. Listen to me. Grunt!" and Promise with her , "*eyeroll* Whatever", then goes back to her white boards and mathematical equations. They are so deliciously perfect for each other!

The danger continues to grow. Will they be able to save Quade while keeping Ulrich locked away? Or will it all come crashing down, possibly destroying the world in the process? I can't wait to find out!

I have said this before and I will continue to say it, Rebecca Zanetti, is the FREAKING BOMB!!!! I adore all of her books but none as much as, her Dark Protectors series!!!! I simply cannot get enough of these men. In this story we have the Ivar Kjeidsen or Viking, or Vike, Lol. He is known by all names and my heart truly felt for him. He has recently made it back from an endless loop of hell realms, with the help of Logan and is not the same as before he went in. We meet Dr. Promise Williams a theoretical physicist and a genius! She was wonderfully adorable and I felt a strong kinship to her on so many levels. She is also an Enhanced female and therefore a possible mate for one of them. He believes, well they all believe that she is the key in trying to decipher where to time jump back into the hell realm where another member of their Seven is stuck in. Promise has no idea what they are talking about and think they are a bunch of crazies. In her estimate it would take centuries to teleport, much less to a specific time. Well, she was in for surprise, Lol. It would really take me to long, to list everything that I loved about these characters, so I am going to tell you that this story rocks as all of her Dark Protectors do and I loved the honor and promise that Ivar made to Quade, to get him out. Unfortunately, it is not as easy as it seems. Promise and Ivar do fall in love, mate and get their HEA. Filled with all of our lovable cast and some sneak peeks of the children made for an awesome read! I cannot wait for the next book!!! Hurry please as I am not sure if it will be Grace and Adare's or Quade and Haven? And what will happen to our bad guy, Ulric? But most important of all BENJAMIN "BENNY" REESE!!! I could not stop laughing, he is the BEST and I need his book, like ASAP! Lol.

Alpha’s Promise is the tenth book in Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series. However, I considered this the third book in what I called Zanetti’s “Seven” series, which focuses on the next generation of protectors and a group ancient protectors who have been hidden for centuries. Together they work to stop the ultimate evil from taking over all the realms. This book is a romantic suspense novel with fantastic characters and a great storyline which adds to the Dark Protector World that Zanetti has created.

Ivar Kjeidsen, a viking, hybrid vampire demon, survived his trip through hell but came back changed with a promise to rescue his vampire brother. To do that he will need the help and knowledge of Dr. Promise Williams, a brilliant physicist. The attraction between them is instant and explosive, but the always thinking and logical Promise struggles with the strong emotions that Ivar evokes. Together they work to unravel the secrets of the universe and find a way to step between worlds and rescue his friend. But will they and their love survive the changes coming? Read it and find out!

This story is filled with danger and intrigue. I loved the characters. They are both strong individuals with strong beliefs and personalities. It was a pleasure to see Ivar and Promise struggle and fight to build a life together. The passion between them is explosive and I loved the gentleness that Ivar displays despite his hard, alpha-dominate personality.

All the books in this series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Ivar, a Viking, was searching for his missing brother when he got stuck in a horrible hell realm. When he finally finds his brother, he must leave him behind. Vowing to come back and save his brother, Quade, Ivar discovers a human professor that is so close to solving the unimaginable…the mathematics to jump dimensions. But the enemies of Dark Protectors are killing all the scientist that are close to solving the dimension hoping equation. Not only do they have to convince Promise, the professor, to help them solve the equation, they also need to save her from their enemies.

I always count it a great day when I get to crack open a Rebecca Zanetti book. Thrust into a world of vampires, shifters and witches of Zanetti’s imagination was utterly delightful…if you can call an action packed, pulse pounding, adventure with two damaged individual falling in love in an intense situation…yeah, delightfully awesome!

3 stars
This is the second book by Ms Zanetti I’ve started and the first to finish. (The other was a suspense I quit at 10%, but this one had me happiliy reading on at that point.) It’s the tenth installment of this series and although it can be read as a standalone, the overarching storyline will make this more enjoyable for someone who’s read more books in this series.

I loved Promise, the heroine of this book, a highly motivated math professor who lived for research and saw the world and life as a series of logical equations. Until she meets Ivar, when he abducts her. I loved how Promise reasoned with everything she had against the existence of other beings, and how she saw mating and by that gaining immortality as a logical next step: endless time for research.

Things went awry when the overarching storyline took center stage and the enemies-to-lovers storyline I had imagined turned into a far too quick, and underdeveloped love story for Promise and Ivar.

This is the tenth installment of this series, and clearly not the last in this series since some storylines are kept hanging. Based on this book alone I’m not continuing this series, even though I liked it much better than another of Ms Zanetti’s books. However, I can see that the overarching story will be more enjoyable when you’ve read more books, and some other reviewers who loved other books, didn’t like this as much. So, who knows... I might start this series from book 1 someday.

So, what did I like about it?
I have only previously read a short story by Ms Zanetti’s - a novella in On The Hunt - but I found her writing style here very easy to read. As I haven’t read any of her Dark Protectors Series before, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I became engaged into the world of vampires, demons, Fae and the various hybrid variations.

I was impressed with our heroine, Promise, from the very first chapter. I connect to a story more when the lead female character is intelligent, resilient, self-reliant and has plenty of gumption and I wasn’t disappointed here. Promise was great, what an inspiring woman! But it’s not just the heroine who has to win me over in a paranormal romance; the hero has to as well. Ivar, our hero, was my kind of alpha - damaged and dangerous but in my eyes totally deserving of Promise.

I enjoyed that the plot in Alpha's Promise is not just focused on our main romantic couple but it’s got a few threads weaving through it; it kept me guessing. What would happen next? The conflict, action and various threats in this tale felt non-stop which kept me on the edge of my seat.

So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
OK, so obviously I really enjoyed this book but there were niggles, hence the drop to a 4 star rating.

I may be doing this book a disservice but my qualms were with the character building and world building; I often felt lost throughout this book. I couldn’t picture some of the settings, the family connections had me scratching my head and re-reading whole pages and I didn’t understand some of the actions of our so-called heroes. Although Ms Zanetti weaves certain re-cap information into this book, this is a complex world with multiple species - there are a huge number of characters - and as with all long running series, a lot has happened. I’m sure that as a new reader, my lack of knowledge about the characters, understanding the dynamics of relationships and being part of the story to date has affected my perception of this book.

So, basically what I’m saying is...
I really enjoyed this book. It's got everything that I look for in a good story; action, romance, humour, a gripping story-line and some well written passion. Alpha's Promise has definitely piqued my interest to go back and see where the Dark Protectors series all started.

Due to the nature of the story-lines, the graphic violence and sexual content, I would recommend this book to adults who not offending by content of this nature and are fans of relationship and romance tales with gritty story-lines and lots of passion.

Trust, Math and love will lead the way.
Dr. Promise Williams lives for math, numbers never lie, always make sense, it’s what makes the world go round. How ever when your life is only surrounded by numbers it’s lonely, boring and plain. So why are some of the brightest is her field being kidnapped and or viciously killed.
Ivar Kjeidsen, vampire demon hybrid and member of the Seven needs the help of the beautiful Doctor. The only problem there’s something about Promise that intrigues him and pulls at his alpha protective side and makes him a tad impulsive.
When danger can no longer be denied Promise must trust her gut and not her brain and allow Ivar to protect her. Ivar needs her to get back to hell, Promise could have eternity to solve to worlds problems with math. Could they mate for convenience or are there feelings behind the numbers that could change everything or end the world.
I love this book and even more I love this series! You can’t go wrong with a Rebecca Zanetti book.

Ivar tried to kidnap Promise. Not his best decision. Promise defended herself and prevented her attempted kidnapping and in the process earned Ivar's respect for her fast thinking. That respect and admiration only increased as Promise agreed to help Ivar and the others try to save the last member of the Seven. There were several bumps along the way, but Promise did help Ivar find a way back to Quade. The question remained; however, if Ivar and Quade could make it back home.

WOW!!! I am not sure how it is possible but I feel like this series just keeps on getting better and better the deeper and deeper into this world and overall story line that RZ takes us. There is so much going on and it truly is an incredible story and world especially if you are able to follow all the little nuances of the individual races as well as the meaning and mission of the Seven. I think RZ gives us wonderful backstory throughout so it makes it easy to follow and understand. In each book, one new couple is the focus amidst the incredible plot lines. This time it is that big sexy Viking, Ivar, and the unbelievably intelligent and equally beautiful physicist, Promise. Promise is also one of the Enhanced, although she did not really know that until she meets Ivar and his brothers and their mates and learns about all this otherwordly stuff she is totally not used to. Math is her jam and it's so cool how helpful that becomes to all of them. Ivan and Promise have chemistry that defies all reason and they are so explosive together! I love all of their interactions from conversations to sexy times! I love how their very analytical transaction turns into a whole heap of feelings. I also love how we get all of the other couples involved in every story because they are all working towards a common goal.
I enjoyed this story so much and I can't wait for more.

Thank you for the early copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley.

I love Rebecca Zanetti but this was the first book of the vampire series that I read. The 3 star is because there was too much going on and referencing to the previous book to make it a good stand alone .
Promise gave me some bones vibes that I liked .But it being a romance novel I would have liked to have agreed to the mating because of love even if she didn’t understand it instead of because she wanted to research for 100s of years .
I loved the all the friendships.

Gawd, I love the Dark Protectors world! I swear, I just can’t get enough of these characters and I never will.

I love a nerdy heroine and Promise was nerdy without lacking common sense. Everything about her revolved around mathematical problems.

”Oh Ivar,” she murmured. Most women made that sound at being given diamonds. Or property. Not her. No. Markers and whiteboards made joy roll off her like heat.”

She thinks things through instead of allowing emotions to ruler her. When she addresses mating Ivar with an analytical mind, she doesn’t realize that there is no logic when mating a demon-vampire. I loved watching her grow from an emotionally stunted woman into a women who could take things on simple faith.

While Ivar appears to be all brawn and muscle, he is able to hold his own with Promise’s intelligence. He was fiercely loyal which caused him an extreme amount of guilt over leaving one of his brothers behind on a planet that is quickly deteriorating. He hasn’t felt anything since his failed trip, but with Promise’s presence in his life, he’s suddenly feeling everything. And as all heroes in this series, his driving force is to protect the heroine and not only did he do that, he also checked all my other alpha hero boxes.

Ivar meeting the man who has wanted to date Promise:

”Do you always barge in?”
Mark pulled his hand free, and Ivar let him. “Promise and I go way back.”
Pinpricks danced along Promise’s spine. What was happening? Tension filtered through the room, and she pondered the puzzle, finally reaching a conclusion. They were posturing? Over her? She leaned back against the crammed bookshelf to watch. This was new.
Ivar smiled, and the sight was a threat. “Well, Missy and I are enjoying the present.”
Red flushed through Mark’s face. “Missy?”
Ivar lifted a shoulder. “Nickname. Just mine. You can’t use it.”

This couple were so cute together! She was often in her head as she worked through problems and he found it to be arousing. Instead of being frightened that he was a hybrid, she was fascinated. They were perfect for each other! And oh my gosh! They actually have a rational discussion regarding the merits of having sex or not! It was fun and, on a cerebral level, sexy as well as original.

In true Rebecca Zanetti fashion, this has a ton of action, amazing secondary characters that feel like family, twists, and plenty of steam. This couple’s mating was intense! This is not a cliffhanger, we definitely get a happy ever after, but the overlapping storyline continues with the next book. And I simply cannot wait!!!

Yet another fantastically written book by Rebecca Zanetti! I truly don't know how she is able to get her readers more excited for each book. Alpha's Promise was a phenomenal book and I'm dying to read the next book in the series. Even though I want to know what happens next I really don't want the series to ever end!! This series just keeps getting better and better with each book and I love how every book connects yet is different and you can really hear the different character's voices throughout each book. I've read series where the characters start sounding the same in my head and I can't tell them apart and this is definitely NOT the case with this author's writing.

This book is the story of Promise and Ivar. At first glance the two definitely don't appear to be the 'typical' couple, however, they make the perfect match (in my opinion anyway). Promise is a mathematical genius that thinks logically and has troubles with personal relationships. Ivar basically lost his humanity while he was stuck in many hell dimensions and is struggling to connect with people. I felt that the two of them completely compliment each other and I really enjoyed 'watching' their relationship develop. I liked how Promise kept approaching everything in their relationship 'logically' and Ivar basically broke those barriers down and they both ended embracing the emotional connection they developed. I LOVED Alpha's Promise and think it is a great book that added important information to the series while developing a solid relationship between Ivar and Promise. There were so many parts to this book that makes the reader fall in love all over with the series!!

The Dark Protectors series is a great series and I am very excited to read the next book in the series. I love all of the characters (it's tough to even pick a 'favorite' with all of the different relationships in the series). I think Rebecca Zanetti is a gifted writer and I am thoroughly enjoying this journey. I can't wait to see what will come next!

Vampire’s Faith (Dark Protectors #8) starts the Dark Protectors series on a new arc. It brings the us the Seven. Seven warriors who scarified everything to protect the world from a religious sect of the Kurjan vampires. If their leader is free from the bubble world that they trapped him in, enhanced females all over the world can be killed. As it stands Quade, the leader of the Seven is in his own bubble world, which is balancing out the other world. But his world is about to fail.

Ivar Kjeidsen went through hell in Demon’s Mercy. Thrown through a portal, he went through a thousand years of hell in only a few weeks on earth. By the time he made it back to his brothers, he knew only one thing. He had to free Quade even if it meant taking his place. To do this, he would do whatever it took. Even kidnapping Dr. Promise Williams.

Someone has been killing Promise’s female colleagues. So when a man bursts into her car with a gun, she does what any sane woman would do. She guns the engine and runs into a police car, sending the kidnapper through the windshield. Unfortunately, he gets away. Promise has no idea what she’s gotten herself into, but she’s all about work and figures it was a fluke. Seriously, a fluke.

I really had a hard time with Promise with most of the book. She was a really hard character to connect with at first. She was all about logic and what would be best for science. She wanted to mate with Ivar because she wanted to be immortal. If she was immortal she would be able to study science forever and ever amen. Who thinks like that?

Luckily for Promise (and me), Ivar is far from logical. In fact, he’s all alpha all the way. He rips Promise out of her scientific bubble and shows her what the real world is like. When Promise is in Ivar’s world, the science looks different. Ivar is certain that she can help him get to Quade. But will she?

I ended up liking Promise by the end of the book. She ended up being good enough for Ivar, but it was a long time in coming. At first Ivar came off as a martyr, wanting to change places with Quade. That wasn’t it. Ivar is convinced that their war with the Kurjans needs Quade leading the Seven. Now they just have to find out how to get him out. It’s a good thing that Quade’s book is next.

Rating: 3.75 out of 5.

5 - "I'll come back to you..." Stars!

We return to the Dark Protectors universe for book ten in the series, Alpha’s Promise gives us Ivar Kjeidsen’s story. This Vampire/Demon hybrid has literally been to hell and back, so he is not the friendliest of people on first introduction.

"People call me ‘Viking’ or ‘Vike’… You can call me anything you want."

I’ll be upfront and say I was on the fence when Rebecca announced she would be writing more books in this series, because I was happy where things had been left at the end of the original story-arc, and wasn’t sure there was anything more that could really be added, but I’m happy to admit I was wrong, and although Ronan’s book left me wondering if we were just going to get the same tropes as previously used recycled into a different story-line, but things have really amped up with Logan and now Ivar’s books, and I love that although questions are being answered in each instalment, new ones are being raised as well, it keeps you on your toes and interested in what’s going on.

"She’s a keeper…"

I really liked Dr. Promise Williams as well, which in itself was a nice change, because it’s usually Zanetti’s heroines that leave me rolling my eyes, but she was quirky and spunky, without the expected arrogance some of them seem to have picked up in recent years. She reminded me of a female Dr. Spock as well with her blunt language and unwavering focus on things, and I liked her pairing with Ivar.

He was the epitome of alpha male… For the first time in her life, she understood the appeal.

Plenty of plot twists, imaginative locations, and page time with the rest to the Kayrs-Kyllwood clan. Hope’s story-line moves along in this one as well, and I am looking forward to seeing which direction Rebecca takes next with Quade and Haven's book; Hero’s Haven. Sadly it’s not due for release until January 2020, so we have a bit of a wait for it :(

"You came for me…"

"…I’ll always come for you."

It was okay, but it seemed more like a briefly fleshed out outline than a fully developed story in some places.

I’ve not really read a vampire book before besides Dracula. I know of the lore and of course the Twilight inconsistencies with it, but that’s about it. Alpha’s Promise brings in a whole lot of other things to do with vampires, and while I cannot say it follows traditional lore, it was interesting. Promise is a physicist and Ivar a vampire-demon hybrid who needs her intelligence to go through time and dimensions to being his friend back. I don’t know how accurate the science was but it was interesting. I felt the romance was rushed and that both Promise and Ivar were awkward and uncomfortable within the relationship. I also felt like Ivar’s personality was a bit inconsistent. I enjoyed the side characters (many of whom have already had stories) and they were good at the comic relief. I don’t know that I liked the way the vampires were portrayed, sometimes it seemed like an afterthought, but it worked well when dealing with the conflict between them and the Kurjans.

I am like most people and in love with Rebecca Zanetti Dark Protector Series. I have read them all, from book 1 to now :) This has the prerequisite alpha male, and the strong enhanced human. That being said each book is about the individuals. Ivar had it rough, being thrown into hell and back, he no longer has feelings. To me that makes total sense as to why he is drawn to Promise, a logical, by the numbers, theories allowed, persona. Even though I personally hate math I laughed with delight as Promise's brain ran on a tangent trying to piece everything together. I could feel Ivars heart swell and start to lighten as he watched Promise think things through. The steam was sizzling, more than I need, not a fan of erotic, but I could skim those. There is humor, romance, suspense and family. Yes, the Protectors are indeed a family, one I am happy to be a part of, even if its only via reading. Thank you Rebecca Zanetti, Kingston Lyrcial Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this arc. All thoughts an opinions are my own and were unsolicited.

Another great action-filled romance in this series. I really enjoyed seeing Ivar find his one true love. She was absolutely perfect for him. It felt a bit like The Big Bang Theory at times, with Promise definitely channeling Sheldon. Loved that! I also liked the humor and the bantering in this story, as well as the slightly awkward, unsuspecting way in which Promise and Ivar fall in love. I think this series is set in an ingenious, wonderful universe with great world-building and amazing secondary characters, both the kids and the grownups.
