Alpha's Promise gives the reader a new frontier as the vampire look to go where it is not safe to do so. Rebecca Zanetti continues to keep the series fresh with these new story-lines. Ivar may seem like the classic Zanetti alpha vampire but his demon and Viking blood come through at times.

It is perhaps his determination to safe his brother from hell that sets him so apart from Dr. Promise Williams. A brilliant but socially inapt human, she has a lot to learn about caring and having strong feelings for others. Ivar is just the one to teach her. Her parents seem to be the blame in the story but I also think it is part of her genetic makeup too as well as her environment. It made her difficult for me as a reader to identify with as compared to Ivar. Still what an interesting couple they make.

Also it was great to get glimpses of others from the series. While some of the books I had thought should be read in order, this one starts a different thread so it would be fine to read alone. However, the earlier books are immensely addictive so I can recommend them all.

I always love when a new Rebecca Zanetti book comes out and this was no different. She never rehashes plot lines and it doesn't feel like she's phoning it in. I can't wait to continue reading more in the series.

This series just keeps getting better as each book comes out. I loved Ivar and Promise, they just kind of matched from the beginning. Both had their feelings but would they act on them? What's going to happen next, I can't wait to find out.

I quite liked this world built in this book, although it took me a while to catch on to that world. It was my first book in this series, and I'm not sure you can read these in isolation.

But the good news is that I now plan to read the rest of the books that came before "Alpha's Promise."

Overall, the two main characters, Promise and Ivar, are good together, but I must say I was more interested in many of the side characters plots, especially Grace and Adare. I really am looking forward to their book.

I also like the subplot with Quade and Haven, another future book to look forward to reading.

I did like that Zanetti has smart, capable heroines, Promise especially among those heroines with her work as a physicist.

This book definitely made me want to read the rest in the series.

Alpha’s Promise by Rebecca Zanetti

Book 10 in the Dark Protectors series. It can be read as a standalone romance but because of the overall arc, it’s best to have read at least a couple of the preceding books.

Math and equations are Promise’s live. Drawn into the demon hybrid lives, her mind is scrambling to figure out inter-dimensional traveling. She’s in her element and Ivar can’t help watching her work. He’s enthralled and falling in love.

A quick ending that keeps Ivar and Promise together and in love but leaves others hanging. A cliffhanger in the overall arc that felt unsatisfying.
I generally love this author’s writing but this fell flat in the ending of this couples story. Up until the last two chapters I was all in. Now I want to know what happens with others including Quade.

Excerpt:
“Yes.” She tried to sound conciliatory instead of commanding, but it was difficult. “I have to see what’s happening.” She needed to feel what was happening. This ability of hers, the one dealing with teleporters, enhanced her theories so well. “You don’t have a choice.”
His smile provided more warning than an outlandish neon sign. “You don’t want to use phrases like that with me, Professor.”
She shivered and failed to conceal it. “Is it just me, or are your possessiveness and authoritarian tendencies progressing to the point of being tyrannical?”
His eyebrows lifted. “Perhaps you’re just starting to notice.”
How irksome.”

A new Rebecca Zanetti book is like getting a box of chocolates. You know you are gonna enjoy it! She always does a masterful job weaving together her interlocking characters and world filled with demons, vampires, shifters and more. Characters are always sassy - and sexy. Recommend!

ALPHA’S PROMISE is the 10th book in the series but it’s the third book in this new story arc.

I really loved the story. I loved the action and the urgency of the storyline as Ivar and the rest of the Seven fight to keep a dangerous enemy imprisoned and trying to save a brother-in-arms from a hell realm. And who doesn’t love a half-demon, half-vampire Viking? Check, check and check!

What tripped me up was Promise. I felt she was stoic, emotionless and robotic. Yes, she’s a physicist and a very matter-of-fact type person but I couldn’t relate to her. I didn’t feel any chemistry between her and Ivar until over half way into the book. The story was great, but I just couldn’t get there with Promise.

The secondary characters are what made the book for me! I always love seeing previous characters again! The action is heating up and I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

These books keep me on the edge of my seat, just waiting to see if the whole world is going to explode or if these seven warriors are going to find a way to save the world.

Viking wants nothing more then to get back and take his fellow Seven Brother's place in hell, but he didn't count on falling for the one person who can probably get him back there. Promise is brilliant scientist that looks at the world through numbers. From the outside they make an odd couple but they both compliment each other. Promise helps Viking find his way back from the hell dimensions he's still very much living in even though he made it back home. And Viking helps Promise find a whole new exciting world filled with love. And endless experiments.

This book moves the storyline along at a fast paced. We meet some new people and catch up with some familiar characters and I'm very, very excited for the next book.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Another book in the series as the Seven try to keep Ulric from escaping his prison and find a way for Quade to escape his "bubble" and here is the big problem - not cause a catastrophe to the rest of the worlds.

Ivar does not start out well with Promise as he tries to kidnap her from the funeral of a fellow scientist. Promise is one tough cookie - she manages to not only escape but cause some serious damage to Ivar. Good thing that he can heal so quickly!

There are so many levels to this story as the Seven and now with Promise try to figure out the dimensionally problem, then Ivar and Promise give in to their mutual attraction, and young Hope and Drake decide to finally meet. An old enemy makes an appearance as well as a new betrayal, so lots and lots of action and drama fill this book from cover to cover. And, I hope!! there is a set up for a new romance when Haven - the artist - is found to be the missing Fae-Demon hybrid.

You just don't know what to believe when you hear Drake say the Seven are evil and Ulric is their prophet and Hope insists that her uncles are good - is Drake lying or just misguided or is there a bit of truth in what he says?? But Drake's father Dayne is true to form when he says he did not kill the brutal murdered the scientists.

All I can say is that this is another great edition to this series, and the author cannot write the next book fast enough for me!

4.5stars
In Alphas promise, another of seven finds love. In this book, Viking Ivar finds love in dr.Promise. I liked this interesting unique love story. All the scientific mambojambo that is in this book got me thinking that author had to make a mini degree from the subject. She had succeed to write amazing story with amazing character both Promise and Ivar are interesting and likable. It is great to see how Promises mind works and how she realized that love is real between her and Ivar and it’s not just chemistry and biology between them. I loved that the story stays unpredictable and to see how it develops. SO I cannot wait too read another book from the series.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

I simply can't get enough of this series. This world that Rebecca Zanetti has created is like a faraway land of everything that's awesome. Every character is strong, important and vibrant.
Every hero is loyal from the start. She doesn't bog down or fill the pages with annoying other people drama (you know clinging exes, other women drama, those things?), no, she gives passion, suspense , action and most of all an epic love story every time.

Ivar "Viking" is true to his name. Pure strength, utter loyalty and completely alpha. Oh this guy really took me away. Promise was adorably scientific. She had a way that almost leaved towards autistic. Like getting lost in numbers like binging on Netflix for us. Brilliant heroines, strong and independent. That's the way for Rebecca and that's why I love her stories so dang much. 💞
I simply know that so far this is my #TopFav series in paranormal romance. I can't wait for more each time.
I need to know what's up with Haven and Quade.. Please gimme now! 💞

Alpha’s Promise is the tenth book in the Dark Protector series and can be read as a stand-alone but I would recommend starting from the beginning since the plot line continues from book to book.

Ivar feels guilt for leaving his brother-in-arms Quade in a hellish dimension. He made a promise to return and he plans on keeping it. But how?

Enter Dr Promise Williams, a physics professor.

Ivar hopes that Promise will be able to help him return and save Quade. What he doesn’t expect is the hunger, attraction and pull he feels toward her. Both lonely and hurting these two turn to each other for solace and love, even though they don’t know it yet.

Do Promise and Ivar stand a chance when he must ultimately leave?

I love Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors world but, this one fell a little of the mark for me. I felt a disconnect between the main characters. I didn’t truly believe in them as a couple. Throughout the book, that did not change. Although it was cute and a little funny in the beginning, how they approached sex and each other so clinically, I found the overall result made me feel there was a lack of passion and love in their relationship

The story itself was spot on with action and intrigue. I enjoy and am captivated by this world and cannot wait for future books and for so many things to happen! I need Quade’s book ASAP!

I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Zanetti is a newer author for me. I found her Deep Ops series a while back and have enjoyed it so I thought I would try her Dark Protector series as well so when I noticed this book pop up on NetGalley, I thought I would give it a try. However, I do not think I should have started my first book this late in the series. Though I enjoy Zanetti’s writing style and characters, I really felt lost with this book. There was so much back story continuing from the previous books in the series as well as a series expanding storyline with crossover characters from all the previous books I stayed confused and did not understand a lot of what was happening. I know I did like all the guys. Ivar, Ronan, Adaire and the others had a strong brotherly bond and their wit and banter were amusing and their interactions with their mates entertaining. I really liked Ivar in this story and felt bad for him with all his struggles. I am not really sure what I thought of Promise. She seemed too robotic, detached, clinical and unemotional and I was just not able to relate to her character. I know it was mainly because of her upbringing but it just felt a little too over the top and all the jargon with the constant mathematical and scientific terminology and descriptions thrown in really took away from the story for me. It felt like a constant information dump and I struggled to keep up with it all. Though I struggled with this book on different levels, I do not think it fair to give it a bad rating for what are mostly my issues (I should have started with the previous stories first); however, with that aside I did still have a problem with Promise and other things related so I feel like a medium rating would be fair overall. I will also say that even though I was confused, this book has me curious enough to go back and try the others in the series and hopefully this book will be a better hit the second time around.

Let me start by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Rebecca Zanetti. I have read almost every book that she has put out. So when I saw this one, I was really excited to get back into the Realm. That being said...I have to admit that this wasn't one of my favorites. I had a really hard time feeling invested in the main characters and the time spent on explaining quantum physics (while impressive) made my head hurt. I still love Zanetti and will read whatever else comes out, but I just didn't connect with this one.

OMG I just love the Dark Protectors series and each time I read a book I think I can't enjoy a character more than the last book....and every time I am proven wrong. Oh Ivar, poor, broken, Ivar. Our hero has been through hell, literally, and back and boy did I feel for him. I enjoyed his character and I wanted him to have his happy ending. Promise/Missy was a little harder for me, she was so logical. But then I started thinking of her as Temperance (Bones) Brennan from the TV show Bones...and I got her character. You know how logical Bones always is...that's our Promise. Logical, analytical and thoughtful. Promise and Ivar growing together was awesome. I felt the characters grew together...and that was fantastic.

The story is getting great, and I can't wait to see what happens next. Of course always getting to see the old characters is awesome! What I really can't wait for is Andare and Grace... oh and Benny, he is a hoot!! I guess I have just fallen for all these characters and I am thoroughly invested in these fictional lives. So as far as a review goes... this book has steam, suspense, great characters, a great storyline, basically it has it all! I don't think Rebecca Zanetti can write a bad book....just not possible, pick this up and hopefully you will fall for the characters just like me. I am at the point where Ms. Zanetti is a once click, must read anything she writes author for me! (Btw look up her other series too they are awesome!)

These Dark Protectors are SOOOOO amazing, I just can't get enough of them. I'll admit that it wasn't until the 9th installment of this series that I even knew about them, but I still!!!! LOL

Ivar, aka the Viking, is still mending from his "mission" threw the hell dimensions. It's been a few months since he's returned from seeing his Quade in the other dimension and he can't wait for the opportunity to get back and rescue him. But there's a problem. All of the physicists that could potentially help the Seven keep disappearing or showing up dead. So Ivar takes things in to his own hands.

Promise is a physicist. In fact, she's a pretty good one. Since she spends most of her waking time studying the universe through mathematical equations, she's not too savvy with her emotions and/or feelings. But now that the Seven have convinced her to help them, it seems like all she can do is feel. Especially when I strong alpha viking is around.

I really liked this installment. Not only did we get to watch Ivar heal from his ordeal, we literally learned about the universe and how it worked (ok, so maybe some of it wasn't real, but it sure felt that way). Bottom line is that this was great!!!

Ivar and Promise were truly meant for each other. Brilliant minds really do attract. And the chemistry? Well, that was all alpha right there. But I'm not going to lie. I was just as enthralled and captivated by the rest of the "cast", especially by the little one, Hope. It seems like this series is nearing the end and I'm honestly sad about it. But boy oh boy, I can't wait!!!

I've read several in this series, I like how the author doesn't just write the same story with slightly different characters, these two characters really spoke to me. These characters not only were not looking for love , they just logically didn't think that way but found it through math of all things lol.

Rebecca has another hit on her hands. I love this world so much. From the first moment you meet Ivar you’ll love him. I loved Promise too. They made the perfect team and she fits seamlessly into his world. I love the characters and the storyline and the hot hot chemistry between them. I love that Rebecca writes in a way that really makes me feel when I am reading these books. I can’t wait for more.

As a fan of the author's, I was thrilled to receive a copy of Alpha's Promise.

I started the Dark Protector's series a long while ago and had missed several books in between this so it was like finding an old friend when I received this.

Things have certainly gotten a lot more complex since I last jumped into this world, and I was a little nervous at first with some of the finer details (teleporting, world bubbles, and physics) that my usual fast fun Alpha male vampire romp would be bogged down but this was great.

Promise with her deeply analytical personality and mathematical genius was a bit a clinical but all the more enjoyable to see her fall in love.

Ivar was everything you want from an Alpha male, without being a total neanderthal. I would happily hang out with that viking any day!

Felt like things moved quickly towards the end, and suddenly I was done with this book but totally forgivable in that these books always feel a bit like a romance movie or hour long episode of your favorite night time soap if you ask me.

Definitely a sexy, fun, science and math talk filled, romance with vampire/demon hybrids so it checked all my boxes for a good fun read!
