Promise is a highly intelligent teacher of physics, and I must admit a lot of the math details in this book were easy to skim as I found them confusing. Overall though, it wasn't a huge distraction. Then you have Ivar, the hunky old Viking/demon/vampire who is assigned to protect her. Do not remember reading others in this series, so at times was a little confused on who was the bad guys and who was not. Again, not enough to throw me, and I did enjoy the story, but suggest you read others first to get more out of this one. Highly recommend.

This book has quite the interesting start. It's designed to grab your attention. And for me, it worked!
Before I get more into the people in this story I just need to mention something. Although a lot of the science and math ideas escaped me, there still was some great world-building. Especially what Ivar called, " Hell Worlds" I might not understand the science of it but the author still did a great job of showing just how bad some of those were. Showed how they earned that title.
Promise was all brain for most of her life. It seemed like that's all her parents demanded from her. Any imagination or even fun seemed to be ground right out of her by them. Emotion was NOT a priority in their life and didn't seem to see the need for it in her's. It didn't take long for Ivar to see what a lonely little girl she had been. I liked how Ivar saw more than just her very intelligent brain. Oh, he liked how smart she was and got a big kick out of watching her attack a problem. But he also brought out the passion in her, helped her get in touch with her feelings and even gave her a nickname. Towards the end of the book she began to realized that he had taught her that emotions and intelligence could make her smarter and stronger.
It's pretty clear that Ivar has suffered some horrific things. But he also wants to honor his vow to Quade to rescue him from that Hell World. Even if he has to take his place again.
Ivar is quite the fighting machine but aso proves to be quite the love machine when it comes to Promise. So, yes there will be quite a few HOT times between the two of them. Promise thinks that a logical decision would be to mate with Ivar. She likes him, the sex rocks her world. She also wants forever to work on all the things that her mind wants to solve. Ivar knows she only thinks she knows what that would be like being his mate.
They have plenty of time to think about it as there is a lot of dangers, and actions and problems going on.
Some pretty good supporting people in the story as well. Ivar has a lot of good people in his corner. He also has more than a couple of villains that want him dead too.
Just to let you know, not all of the problems are solved in this book but they are making headway!
There is a quick look into another book by Rebecca Zanetti. It's a Deep Ops novel called, "FALLEN."

Alpha's Promise continues the story of the seven demon hybrids whose mission are to save the world. This book would definitely not be a good starting place in this story and should be read as part of the sexy and exciting series. Dr. Promise Williams is a genius in the field of physics and may be the answer to the Seven's quest for dimension hopping .Ivar Kjeidsen is scared physically and mentally from his journey through multiple hell dimensions and leaning towards being more animal than man. A first mistaken meeting and a failed kidnapping/ rescue attempt put Promise and Ivar at odds. But the sexy Viking finds himself drawn to the brainy physicist and Promise logically sees the potential in the mating bond. The scientist teaches the Viking a thing or two about math while the Viking teaches Promise about faith and love. Sizzling with a touch of humor and a great big heap of loyalty, the mates take on Kurjans and hell dimensions while trying to save the last of the Seven. All the usual cast of characters make appearances and the youngest generation flirts with an inter-species war for loads of action and excitement. Heroines that are brilliant and strong and alpha male heroes keep you coming back for more in this addicting series in a 4 and 1/2 stars read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

Fun and fast read. I have read this series from the very beginning and though it gets repetitive, it doesn't disappoint. Loved Ivar and Promise was a great match for him. Filled with the action typical of this series and with the villains we have come to despise, this book is part of a winning recipe where the outcome is delicious. Highly recommend.

I LOVE the Dark Protectors series!! I was so excited to read this book and I was not disappointed. Alpha’s Promise is Ivar’s story and it was amazing. I loved it!

I've done myself a huge disservice by reading book #10 in the Dark Protectors series first. In my defense... I do look at the series information. I saw that it was a paranormal by Rebecca Zanetti and I was sold.

So being that I read out of order I definitely missed some information that's important, but I still enjoyed Alpha's Promise. Zanetti builds wonderfully full worlds that pull you. In so your standing next to her characters in each moment.

OK, Ivar... He hides himself, but not really well considering his brothers and their mates realize exactly what he's doing as does Promise, the woman he's pulled to and currently protecting. They're both very literal but when thrown together they become less logical and more emotional and determined to save each other.

Between the ungoong war, a sheep in wolf's clothing, trying to figure out how to rescue his brother and a physicist who thrives on math and her fiercely independent nature Ivar definitely has his work cut out for him.

I will absolutely go back and start with book one and I'm excited to see who we get next!

When I start a book written by Rebecca Zanetti, I'm filled with anticipation because I know I'm embarking on an amazing journey. In this latest novel in the Dark Protectors series, there is a serial killer murdering leading scientists in the area of physics. Promise is a theoretical physicist and appears to be the next target. To protect her, Ivar has to get her to trust him. Ivar is a centuries old Viking vampire-demon hybrid who along with 6 other immortals have been bonded in blood and bone in an ancient ceremony. They require Promise's assistance to help them figure out how to rescue one of their "brothers" from a hell dimension. The chemistry between Ivar and Promise is off the charts and becomes intense quickly. I really enjoyed this action packed paranormal romance!

I loved Ivar and Promise's story. This book was a great addition to the Dark Protector's series. Promise and Ivar's relationship started out practical and logical then Ivar's over the to alpha tendencies came into play and the rest was history. I loved that they looked at the mating as a business transaction and eventually fell in love. As per every book, their mating was explosive and off the charts as were Ivar's protectiveness when it came to his mate. We also got a visit from some out our past favorite realm characters.

As far as the 7's story line goes- this book picked up right where we left off in the last book. We learn more about the other dimensions/worlds and also their is a surprise future character we meet. I cannot wait for that book!!

This was a great book. The story line is extremely engaging and the characters are great.

ALPHA PROMISE the next book in Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series takes us on an entertaining ride, of Sciences meets Numbers. In 2005 CBS introduced this television show Numbers. It was about an FBI agent who recruits his younger brother a mathematical genius, to help solve the FBI toughest cases. Well, Alpha Promise reminded me of this program, which made this book a huge hit with me.Dr. Promise Williams a prodigy in physics is in the hot seat while leaving a funeral, of a faculty member, she was almost kidnapped by the same individual whom she assumed killed Dr. Rashad. In a panic to avoid the same fate as the late Dr., Promise rear-ended a police car. Her initial thoughts after her interview with the police were that it was just random. Until she meets Ivar Kjeidsen again.Ivar Kjeidsen is a vampire, demon whose sole mission is to save a brother from a world that is about to collapse, the only person who could assist him, is no other, then Dr. Promise Williams. Dr. Williams is the leader in her field in physics and she is also an enhanced female, which makes her even valuable to his people. His kidnapping attempt has failed, now he must try something he never did before…. introduce himself. What I enjoyed most about ALPHA PROMISE, was the banter between the two main characters. Their play off each other was captivating, which made it easy to get into the storyline. This book flew by and with entertaining characters and plot, I finished this book quickly. But then again, Zanetti makes all her books entertaining that it's very easy to zoom through one of her titles

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I happen to be a huge fan of this author and always get her books but I must say I was not a big fan of this series.
If you are reading this out of sequence it can be a bit confusing with all the characters and hybrid mixed creatures. I felt like this book tried to pack in too much and you lost the impact of the romance between IVar and Promise. Dr. Promise is a fiesty, smart woman who is powerful in her own right but IVar felt flat as a strong, Alpha lead. Disappointed.

Dr. Promise Williams is a well known physicist who studies string theory and supersymmetry. The Seven, a group of bonded brothers, need to rescue one of the team and think she has the knowledge to help them. Ivar makes it his mission to bring her into the fold because he feels responsible for his teammate being trapped. He did not expect to find Promise so intriguing. Both characters are frustrating at times and lovable most of the time. This installment is part of The Dark Protector series. While it definitely can be read as a stand alone book, it is enriched if you have read the previous books. And why would you not want to? They are all filled with worlds we only imagine, friends we long for and passion that is found in dreams. I loved Promise and Ivar. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Promise is one of the top physicists in the country. Ivar is one of the Seven and has been to hell and back. He promised his brother to rescue him but he needs Promise’s brain. So he tries to kidnap her but fails. When Promise goes to try for a Grant for her university, Ivar is there. A bunch of scientists have been kidnapped and found dead and they convince Promise to let Ivar protect her. When it becomes unsafe, he takes her to demon headquarters to save her. While trying to figure how how to teleport, Ivar wants Promise to mate with him. But he soon realizes that she is his mate when the mating mark appears on him. Can Promise help him rescue his brother or will he take his place and she lose him forever?
Awesome story. Sex, demons, hybrids, and faes. Funny and a lot of big scientific words. I totally love these characters and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Sometimes Ivar is just stunned stupid by his woman's bluntness, “why don’t you stay with me?” The blood drained out of his head and rushed south so quickly his ears rang. He glanced at the sofa and back up to her face. She pressed her lips together in an obvious attempt to stifle a smile. “I mean in the bed. With me.” She placed her hands on his chest, spreading out her fingers with a soft hum. “I like how hard you are.” Seriously the girl has no filter, “I enjoyed last night. The male dominance you exhibited during foreplay and ***.” His grin was quick. Heat infused her face. “But that was during ***. A sense of role-playing, if you will.” I liked this book, I loved Ivar.
