First it's an obituary printed in the local newspaper. Then it appears on her facebook account. Her car is vandalized. She has a night out and doesn't remember what happened. Her boss receives an email along with a 'private' picture attached.

Laura Swallow is alive and well. She has no idea who would be doing these things to do ... or why. At first, Laura believes maybe she's been mixed up with someone else with the same name.... but there are too many details to accept that.

Just getting divorced and hit with the knowledge that her ex is getting remarried and his fiancee is pregnant, her thought processes are already all over the place. What she's experiencing now is a living nightmare.

There are lots of people in her lives .... a gentleman friend she has just met ... a man she once attended school with and wasn't very kind to him .... a new gal friend ... who was actually her sister's friend before she died ..... the lady who helped her get her job as a real estate agent ... her ex-husband ... his wife? .....

Who can she trust? Who would want her to suffer like this? Who wants to ruin her life? Someone definitely wants her gone.

This is a well-written psychological thriller that gave me the willies. It goes to show that in the modern world of computers and internet, all kinds of people can maneuver around and you'd never know it ... until something strange happens. The characters are finely drawn and quite memorable. The suspense starts with the very first page and continues to the explosive, nail-biting finale.

Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author to allow me to get a free copy of this book for review. Laura's daughter is sobbing, after seeing a Facebook post of her mother's death in a car accident. But Laura is alive. Laura's young sister did die in a car accident a few years ago. Other people tell Laura they have seen the Facebook post and her obituary in the newspaper. Her ex, Ian, has moved on with a new partner and are about to have a baby. He receives an authentic death certificate of Laura. Laura is trying to move on. She is dating a nice handsome doctor and things are going great. Laura has 2 nice friends, Anna and Jenny. They are supportive but when strange things start happening to Laura, she feels she can't trust anyone. The revelation, later, is a shocker. Great story!

Laura Swallow is already having a bit of a rough time, death in the family, husband has left her for a younger woman so when she receives her own obituary she is bemused. Who wants her out of the way and why? That wasn’t very hard to work out, so just had to wait for Laura to catch up. She must have had a sore throat most of the time with the amount of screeching, shouting, yelling and crying she did! She was needy, a bit gutless and prone to jumping to conclusions too. Horsham is a lovely Sussex town so it was great to see it featured in this book and makes a change from the usual places. Loved how it started and certainly makes you want to continue, the cover was intriguing too. It’s just that Laura was slow on the uptake, made silly decisions and was really annoying.

This psychological thriller was an enjoyable read. Lots of twists and turns throughout, Laura I found was frustrating at times. A good twist at the end that you wouldn’t guess. All in all a good page turner that will keep you hooked
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read this

Laura is horrified when her daughter Mel calls her whilst on a date with new boyfriend Dr Ben. Mel is shocked her mother has answered the phone as she has just seen a post on Facebook that her mother has died after a fatal car crash!! Is this just a sick joke or is someone out to get her?

Laura’s sister Becky had died from a suspicious death and she thinks it might be linked with the update on Facebook and the death notice in the newspaper. She soon becomes suspicious of everyone around her.

Laura has had enough drama in her life after her divorce from ex husband Ian and having money problems. Ben seems like a charming boyfriend but even friend Anna is suspicious of him. Is he too good to be true!! Everybody seems suspicious could it be ex husband Ian, Jenny friend and boss, Ben the new boyfriend or an old school friend that has reappeared.

This is a book that holds you in the palm of it’s hand until the final page. It’s addictive, fast paced and keeps you guessing till the end. Did I guess who the culprit was - yes but not till nearly the end and it certainly did not ruin this book for me!!

I will definitely looking out for Miranda Rijks next book.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

A fast paced read I found to be predictable and lacking believability. I wanted to shake Laura a few times. She was way too naive, which made the reading of the book frustrating at times. The ending was disappointing and ended abruptly, offering no real resolution. I was expecting more, based on the description. Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is an intriguing psychological thriller which I enjoyed. I was drawn into the story from the start - an enjoyable page turner which had plenty of unexpected twists and turns throughout. It is fast paced and sinister in places. I was kept guessing right up to the end.

I really wanted to read this when I read the blurb and it didn’t disappoint! It is well written with a pact storyline. I did work if our before the end but that didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of it.

Okay, reading the premise of this book I got excited for it. Not too excited, but excited nonetheless.

And it started quick! I hate slow books that seem to take forever for anything to happen but this really just came out running. I got into it instantly.

However, the more I read, the more I started to come to a slower pace....

From the beginning, it's kind of easy to tell who the bad guy is. That's fine, not a big deal, but the way the rest unravels is a bit unsettling for me. I don't like the way this book handled the topic of rape, and it felt very uncomfortable.

All the characters were pretty terrible, and I felt like I was just turning page after page of fluff. By the time I got to the end I wasn't excited for the reveal, I was just glad I had finished.

Laura learns from her daughter in college that she has died. It's on social media. Her death notice has been in the papers. But how could this be? Laura is alive an well. Someone is messing with her life and her mind. Does that someone "want" her dead and it's wishful thinking? Or is it more sinister than that? And who could be doing these terrible things to scare and hurt her? It is someone close. Someone she would never have guessed. Great read!

It starts with an obituary announcing her death in a car accident, then her life starts to fall apart. She desperately tries to find out who's targeting her before the obituary comes true. This is a fast-paced thriller with a shocking ending.

Book synopsis from Amazon: The one obituary you never want to read – is your own.
Laura Swallow is dead.
A life cut tragically short, says the newspaper obituary.
But that’s a lie.
Estate agent Laura did not die in a car accident. She is alive and well.
At first, Laura thinks it’s a sick joke.
But multiple announcements of her death are followed by increasingly sinister real-life events. Already fragile, struggling to recover from a recent divorce, Laura is plunged into a living nightmare.
Who can she trust? Her new lover? Her clients and work colleagues? What about her ex-husband and his smug fiancée? Can Laura even rely on her best friends? And why is it that Laura’s present troubles are so tied up with her sister’s sudden death all those years ago?
But one thing Laura is sure of – someone out there wants her to suffer. Wants her gone.
Forever.

Review: Mysteries and Thrillers are probably my favorite genre, I love to read them, and jump at the chance when I can. I was given the opportunity to read I Want You Gone and of course I didn’t pass it up.
This one was a pretty fast paced thriller with a decent plot. It will definitely pull you in from the beginning, which is imperative when reading any type of thriller/mystery book. Unfortunately, it was very predictable for me and I was able to guess the plot and ending fairly quickly, but I still wanted to read on. (Normally when that happens, I have a hard time wanting to continue with the book). So, I would definitely call it a page turner.
The authors writing was decent, though not always the smoothest, but I would certainly give her another try if she publishes again. The main character could be a bit annoying, but that depends on your personal preference. I think I would have liked an epilogue to just wrap things up a little better at the ending, but overall, this one wasn’t bad.
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator for the copy of this book and the opportunity to review this book for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Overall, I found things to enjoy about this book and the suspense kept me invested. A book for a rainy and chilly day! That being said, I did have a several problems with plot points and believability in certain respects. 2.5 Stars. Be warned of spoilers ahead. Don’t keep reading if you plan to read the book.....

Okay, my issues:
1. Laura’s Facebook is hacked and she does nothing about it!
2. She discovers HER obituary in the paper and doesn’t call the police. At this point, she is clearly being harassed and possibly threatened.... she just goes on about her life.
3. Her death certificate is sent to her ex-husband - still no police involvement?????
4. She is drugged and wakes up mostly nude with no recollection of what happened the night before. She goes to the doctor and is swabbed and tested. She and her doctor both say it is unlikely she was raped, but she continues to tell people she suffered a rape AND accuses Ben, with no real proof. Does she talk to Ben or the police before possibly ruining his life & career? Nope.
5. She’s run off the road and her vehicle is vandalized. At this point you’d think she’d tell the police EVERYTHING - but NOPE.
6. There is a letter sent to her work accusing her of misconduct. She never contacts the sender to discuss letter. This leads to my next problem...
7. Nude and highly sexual photo sent to all her colleagues. Laura is put on leave from work. Still no police involvement?!?!?! Come on!!! Your life is being systematically dismantled and ruined, but you feel you need to handle it on your own? WHY?? Because you’ve done such a great job of that so far???
8. Laura accuses a lot of people of a lot of things with little proof. She seems to have no problem tarnishing someone’s reputation.
9. Her daughter is kidnapped and she runs off to save the day — after FINALLY involving the police. However, the police do not seem to be very responsive, which I feel was an unfair representation of how they would really react.
10. Unsatisfying ending with so much left in the air.
11. WHY is Anna so possessive and crazy? What’s the backstory??? We get hints that this is a pattern, but only hints. I want more about what made her so unstable!! Most people don’t just become stone cold killers. This would have been a really good addition to the plot.
12. The book just abruptly ends.

I think this book can be enjoyed on a surface level as long as you don’t mind overlooking all of these glossed over issues. Maybe I’m overthinking, but that’s just me. I need to relate to the characters, and there were just so many behaviors I really couldn’t understand.

A fast- paced thriller with lots of twists and puzzle pieces to keep you guessing. Some actions were a bit far fetched, but overall a good thriller and quick read.

Thrilling and intriguing from the first page! this story line made me curious and held my attention from start to finish. Poor Laura has the reader's sympathy as she is such a 'normal' person, her life is quite recognisable by a mass audience. She's a mum, divorced, grieved her sister death, albeit still quite raw; despite this, she is trying to make the most of her life as an estate agent.
It soon becomes apparent that strange things are happening to Laura, weird social media posts about her start to alarm her daughter and a string of dangerous and life changing incidents, slowly begin to drive Laura slightly unhinged.
The reader has to endure lots of twists and turns before the pieces fall into place and reveal who is behind this mission of madness.
I really recommend this book, it's one of the best reads I've had in a long time.

This book makes you have to suspend belief in reality a bit. The main character does some stupid things and you are left wondering what the hell.

Estate agent Laura Swallow gets a call from her daughter Mel, she is hysterical. There is a notice on her Facebook page saying she is dead.
Then at work, the latest edition of the Gazette has a death notice. Of her death, by car accident.
Laura is not sure what to think, her sister Becky died tragically in a car accident less than four years ago.
Is someone out to get her?
More sinister events pile up in her life. Her car is vandalized, a harassment charge by a client, her drink is spiked at a restaurant. Who can she turn to for help?
Her ex Ian, about to be a father again with his young fiancee.
Her new, possible boyfriend, Ben Logan, a handsome and distinguished doctor. Her longtime friend and business associate Jenny. Anna, Becky's best friend, who helped her through the dark time of Becky's sudden death.
Someone wants her gone and Laura needs to find out who she can trust.
This was a fun, fast thriller. I was a little frustrated with Laura at times, and I did guess who was behind all the havoc being wreaked, but it was an engaging writing style that kept me entertained.
