I remember the first time I heard Anne speak over a decade ago. As she was talking, I had this palpable overwhelming sense of the peace of God. I loved her clear and powerful way of conveying the rich love of God. This book is much the same. I could curl up in it. I have read and reread portions to simply feel the beauty of the character of the Holy Spirit. Reading his names and attributes have brought calm, joy, and resolve to my spirit.

In the last few years, Anne has lost her father, her husband, and gone through breast cancer. This book is her journey to experiencing the Holy Spirit as a constant companion. Her personal, vulnerable stories touch the heart. Seeing that Billy Graham's daughter is traversing difficult paths helps me to see that I am not alone on this journey of life.

When I opened the book, I stared at the dedication page for quite some time. It wasn't a big long list of thanks to those who helped her like most books. It simply said, "to the lonely." That got to me. Even when we are surrounded by people, we often feel lonely in our problems, perceived defects, and trauma. Anne had experienced it herself and is sharing how God himself became her best friend. We always get farther when we walk with others than when we walk alone. I know this book will speak deeply to you. I hope you read it.

Anne shares her heart candidly in this book. I enjoyed all the personal stories she shared about how the Holy Spirit has been at work in her own life. This is a great resource for learning more about the Holy Spirit and the transforming work God does in our lives through His Spirit.

Using both Biblical examples, as well as, examples from her own life, Anne Graham Lotz teaches in a clear and understandable way about having a real relationship with Jesus. She includes thoughtful and practical applications for daily life. I appreciated that Lotz shared openly about her life including the suffering and her own heartbreaks. She certainly hasn’t been exempt or sheltered from life’s difficulties. Yet she has learned to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide, protect and comfort her and I can tell that she wants that for everyone. I am glad that I had a chance to read this wonderful message. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book comes out of a deep personal relationship with the Holy Spirit, one called upon during a time of intense grief. The author wants to share her experiences with the Holy Spirit and to educate her readers about His love, presence, power and purpose in their lives. However, she obviously hopes that this will go beyond head knowledge to the readers allowing the transformative power of the Holy Spirit to work in their lives.

The Holy Spirit is often the person of the Trinity that is least acknowledged, understood, and cherished. Our nation, and the world, needs an awakening and for this we must access the power of the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to work within and among us. I thank Anne Graham Lotz for helping her readers to know Him better, and am grateful to have received a copy of Jesus in Me from Multnomah in exchange for my honest opinion. It is a privilege to recommend this book. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation. #PRHpartner

I requested and received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really couldn’t get into this book and it took me forever to sit down and read it. I am a Christian and I believe in everything that this book was about, but I had trouble following along with the information and I found myself losing interest.

I enjoyed reading parts about Ms Lotz private life, but when the writing went back to biblical quotes and theological questioning, I lost interest.

Anne Graham Lotz writes in such a personable manner that reading this book seems as if you are sitting in a small group while she shares stories about her life and also explains about the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian. I love how she presents the Bible passages about the Holy Spirit in an understandable way. There’s much to absorb as you read through the twenty seven chapters in this book. Every chapter is both challenging and encouraging, but my favorite section was on “Loving the Person of the Holy Spirit” and the names that indicate His role in our lives. This would be a good book for a book study group or Sunday School class.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion by Anne Graham Lotz is an insightful, inspirational and educational Book. A Christian Pneumatology. Ms. Lotz uses her personal experiences and her biblical knowledge to help the reader understand the....Holy Spirit, is real, not mystical, magic, he prays with us, he guides us, and comforts us, he is with us all the time.
A must read for readers who are searching for the meaning of the Holy Spirit, he is a devine necessity.

I found myself intrigued and enjoyed to be able to read JESUS IN ME. It is truly a spiritual and empowering book that I feel we all could use in our lives to have a closer walk with our Savior. I so enjoyed and look forward to using the knowledge I find with my walk with my Savior. Thank you, Ms. Lotz!! #NetGalley, #JesusinMe

I'm amazed at how awesome this book is. I'm only halfway through it right now, but I had to tale a minute to share what I think.

I can relate to Anne on a personal level from some of her stories, and I am inspired by many others. We seem to have a lot more in common than I ever would have dreamed possible, based on appearances.

Honestly, without conscious thought, I have spent most of my life behaving like I believe that some Christians are 'elite' because of their position or family.

This book levels that playing field!

Realizing that we serve the same God who is more than able to take my clumsy willingness and use it for His glory... Well, I've had that head knowledge for decades, but I think it's becoming heart knowledge finally. Not just that He can, but that He will, He is.

So far I have laughed, stared in amazement, cried, and understood a few things on a whole new level. And we're just getting to the 'good part' of the book.

Hopefully I will be updating this soon with the second half!

This book is one of my favorites by Anne Graham Lotz. I read a chapter each morning with my bible study. I love how I feel so much closer to God after reading. Anne does a great job of telling about the Holy Spirit. Lotz takes from the scriptures and explains it so the reader has a easier way of understanding. I enjoyed all the personal stories that Anne shares with the reader to help with the teaching being relatable. I was so touched by the story she shared about her father Billy graham’s funeral and all the love that was poured out by people. This book just really touched my heart and filled me with so much longing to draw closer to our Savior. I think this is an excellent book to share with my small group. I am definitely going to suggest this book to anyone I know!

This must be one of Anne's best titles yet written from her journey with Jesus. I find that the persona of the creator God is so misunderstood and mysterious to the average believer. We create a distance between this God whose name is Immanuel - God with us - and ourselves. Perhaps because we don't think we are worthy - or perhaps because we don't want to relinquish control over our lives. In either case - HE is indeed a God who journeys with us throughout time and context. Anne is has taken a tough and touchy subject and brought it into the center of a logical discussion based upon the stories of scripture. This is not a doctrinal lesson but a personal view into the history of Immanuel and his loved creatures - US! This book is a great read as you come to the table each morning or as a topic for book discussions or as an added recommended reading for spiritual formation. I recommend taking your time as you go through this great resource. Enjoy it.

Review of Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion, by Anne Graham Lotz
Anne Graham Lotz is very open and vulnerable in her book, Jesus in Me. The title comes from the simplified way she describes the Holy Spirit. She says the Holy Spirit is God, the same as Jesus without skin, living inside of me.
In her many personal illustrations, Anne is candid and vulnerable, writing about the Holy Spirit’s work in her life during some of the most traumatic and emotionally disruptive changes she has recently experienced.
Anne blamed herself for not going out to the pool sooner to check on her husband, who she found drowned. But the Holy Spirit helped her work through the false guilt. She misses her husband of 49 years, but realizes God is bringing her into a new season of relying on Him.
Anne felt like not only a widow after her husband’s death, but when her father, famous evangelist Billy Graham, died, she also felt like an orphan because her mother had passed away by then too. Anne says the Holy Spirit helps us cope with our loneliness.
Almost a year ago Anne announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She has needed to rely on her “Constant Companion” even more during this time of treatment. She has solicited prayers from Christians world-wide, and she anticipates a good outcome. She wants others who are going through similar trying circumstances to know that “Jesus living on the inside” will be there for them too.
Jesus in Me is a good resource for those wanting to learn more about the Holy Spirit, and especially for those who may be experiencing trials like Anne and want the closeness of God living inside them.

When Lotz's husband died a few years ago, she found great comfort and strength from God through the Holy Spirit. She shares her spiritual experiences and adds stories from others and from the Bible. While there is some exploration of the character and work of the Holy Spirit, most of the book is a memoir of her path of learning to enjoy and trust the Spirit more and more.

Lotz's writing style is a pleasure to experience. She is open and honest about her experiences, sharing the good times and the troubling ones. Rarely will one admit the times when she thought she heard the Spirit but things did not turn out as expected. Most of her book, however, is about her knowing the Spirit as Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, and Counselor.

Lotz includes a good bit of teaching too. She writes about how God strengthens us through hardship and how the Spirit convicts us of sin and disciples us. She also reviews the many roles the Holy Spirit has in our transformation to become more like Christ. “He is a divine necessity,” she writes. (3)

My favorite part of the book was the section on purpose, a great challenge. If we see our purpose as being physically fit or traveling or being a career success, what happens when we are diagnosed with a debilitating disease? If we make our life's purpose to glorify God, we can carry it out no matter our circumstances. (121)

Lotz has included good teaching in several appendixes. She helps us learn how to hear the Spirit by reviewing her Bible reading process. She also has good teaching on being filled with the Spirit and staying filled, a self-examination of sin, and the various gifts of the Spirit.

This is a good book for any Christian but particularly for those who have recently experienced the loss of a spouse or another loved one. Lotz wrote the book in the context of the loss of her husband and it is good encouragement that believers are never alone. The Holy Spirit is always our constant companion.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Jesus In Me
Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion
By Anne Graham Lotz

Jesus In Me delivers within the very first chapter who the Constant Companion was and is. She begins by giving us insight into his character. One of which I had never heard of before.

Beautifully, Anne weaves these truths about the Holy Spirit into the deep places of her own life experiences. Grieving the loss of her parents, husband, as well as her journey with cancer. She shares who the Holy Spirit is in every step of life’s journey. I don’t know anyone who as not been touched by being shattered by a death, disease, divorce, disappointment or other disaster. Having faced some of these heartaches, I could sense that the simple way these truths were being shared, began to fill my mind, heart and soul. On a daily bases I am seeing the Holy Spirit as I have never seen or understood before!

Jesus In Me as my Constant Companion I can have Joy in the midst of any struggle.

Highly recommended if you also are seeking Joy in the midst of your own life challenges.

This could possibly be the best book in the Anne Graham Lotz library. Impeccably written - impeccably timed - "Jesus in Me" challenges Christ-followers everywhere to pursue full-throttle an energizing, personal relationship with the Son of God. Through well-researched Scripture and personal experiences relayed as only she can relay them, Anne guides readers toward two life-altering realizations. The first is that every human is created in the image of God for the sovereign purpose of His glorification. The second, built on the foundation of the first, is that we fulfill this purpose only when we walk closely and in tandem with the Holy Spirit, who is literally Christ manifested.in us. In confusing and tempestuous times - amid what can be a confusing and tempestuous culture - "Jesus in Me" is a must-read for every person with a sincere desire to know, follow, and reflect Christ. #JesusInMeBook #AnneGrahamLotz #WaterBrookMultnomah

Oh my goodness; where do I start? This will be a life manual for the rest of my life. I want to buy books for everyone I know. I truly believe anyone who reads this book; will have a life changing experience. I never knew all the information about the Holy Spirit Mrs. Lotz gives you in this book. I have learned so much. It has changed my life. Mrs. Lotz teaches you that the Holy Spirit is Jesus who is living in us in the spirit form. She uses scripture references to support her information in her book. She teaches us all the different aspects of the Holy Spirit and how He works constantly in your life. I have just finished the book and I am going to start over and read it again. My husband is reading it and he feels the same way. If you can’t read any other book; please pick up a copy of this book and have your life enriched and changed forever.

Anne’s first chapters about the person of the Holy Spirit are very encouraging and challenged me to be more mindful of the day to day life stressors where I could be relying more on the Holy Spirit. She uses many personal experiences to show you examples of how the Holy Spirit shows up. The rest of the book is also filled with good information and points to ponder. It further encourages you to allow the Holy Spirit to mold you into pointing others toward Gods holiness.
I do, however, have some reservations in recommending this book to non-believers and new Christians. While Anne is inspirational in the strength of her faith, the description of the human condition is written in harsh manners. Jesus first and foremost showed others compassion, love, and understanding to others, irregardless of their choices. There are portions of this book that could have benefited from focusing through that lens (specifically in regard to sin). While I don’t think sharing judgement was her intent, some wording comes across rather harshly.
Reviewed on Goodreads and Christian book

As a christian, I have been taught and believe that our faith is based not in religion but on a relationship with Jesus and trusting in the Holy Spirit. All of the teaching that I base my faith on comes from the Holy Bible. Ann, through her study of the scripture, experience of personal loss, and journey through cancer, was able through this writing to help me understand how to better study the scripture myself and have a closer walk with Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

What a wonderful and powerful journey Anne Graham Lotz takes us on in her new book "Jesus and Me." A journey with a fresh look and practical approach of the wonder and impact the Holy Spirit has on our lives. Before Jesus returned to His Father, He promised to send a Helper, a Comforter, who would dwell inside His followers and empower them for ministry:
“I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth . . . He dwells with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17).
Today, that helper gives us hope and comfort in a dark and chaotic world, slowly healing it and working towards the day when it is restored to its former glory. Anne provides example after example of how we have this power at our finger tips. She reveals to us in a clear and easy method that the Holy Spirit’s role is to lead us to Jesus, comfort us, and conform us to His image—which includes being filled with His power.
Anne shares her struggles and disappointments but leaves us encouraged as she illuminates the victories she experiences as she relies on the Holy Spirit. We are to call upon Him to fill us up on a regular basis so that when we feel depleted or need strength, we are to ask Him to replenish us (Ephesians 5:18).
The book provides insight into our goal to become more Christ-like as this takes place through the power of the Holy Spirit. Anne walks us through the power of the Holy Spirit to have us focus on sanctification and the diminishment of sin in our lives.
Truly a blessing to read!
