Thank you to NetGalley and Inkyard Press for the E-arc copy of #TheSpeedofFallingObjects by Nancy Richardson Fischer.
Wow. A realistic and satisfying thrill of a book. I loved Danny, she is a strong and independent young woman, who steps up to take care of herself. I have to say that it was great to see a female character like this with common sense, grit, and intelligence. A must read for anyone who love action packed books!

This book was so surprisingly good! The plot was so real and engaging that I finished the book in one sitting! The characters were incredibly relatable and the writing style was beyond great. This is definitely not the last time I'm going to read a book by this author. I highly recommend it!

This book is about a 17-year-old girl discovering her true self and family through the hardships she went through as a child and what her parents went through as well.

I highly recommend this to those who are looking for a story where one discovers self and who needs that type of read where a character, after going through so much, uplifts herself and just realized they are worth it.

The character really finds her worth and I am really proud of her for that. What she went through, taught me a few lessons. I think more people should read books like this one to break out of that shell of insecurity. For which, I'm so grateful to have devoured this book. It was an incredible read. I can not believe I got my hands on this ARC. Everyone and their pets need to read this book. I haven't read a book as good as this in a while and I mean A WHILE. The character development was awesome. The author did an excellent job of creating the characters and the setting. I sat here and thought about how can she even think about making an adventure filled and suspenseful book such as this. Therefore, I went through all the feels while reading this. I was sad, happy, laughing, and angry. A magnificent page turner.

This book is extremely real. Like, so well researched to the point that I felt like I was in the Amazon too. From the names of the animals and trees to the need to find water and food and the threat of the rainy season, all of these things place you straight into the rain forest. It makes you feel like you are there alongside the characters. I have to applaud Nancy Richardson Fischer for really knowing her stuff when it comes to this book.

But because of this — this book is not for the faint of heart. I was so nervous for the characters the entire time. It was real and I was engaged; I wanted the characters to all be okay, and I was so devastated when things happened to them. I became so invested. Like, really, can I get my own Jupiter please? He was by far by favorite character, sorry Danny and GP.

In these 300 pages, we got to know the characters so well and they all developed so well. In the beginning, I was so worried for Danny. I knew she was going to conquer everything and she was going to get to know her father and herself, but the way her character goes from the naive and scared girl at the start to the boss, strong person she becomes — amazing. The transition to her autonomy was so fluid and perfect, I’m still in awe.

I cannot stress how much I loved this story. While it was so much about the Amazon and surviving a plane crash, it wasn’t so much about the survivalist mentality as it was about family. There was no cheesiness like in Lost or craziness like in Castaway, but a real collection of people, and a real girl who just wanted an opportunity to develop a relationship with her father.

And over the course of the novel, she learns from her mistakes, she grows and develops and I couldn’t have hoped for a better ending. Oh, yeah, and she does this all while being half blind. If that doesn’t convince you you can do anything, I don’t know what will. Really, you need to pick this book up as soon as it’s available.

And all I’m saying is: If you go on a trip to the Amazon anytime soon, bring a Stephen King book. Not only will it provide entertainment, but in case of a plane crash, it’s thick enough to last you the whole experience as a fire starter.

After losing her eye in a childhood accident, Danger Danielle Warren has had to relearn how to navigate her surroundings leaving her with a lot of fears. Cougar Warren, Danny's father and survivalist show celebrity, left her and her Mom after the accident. Danny feels like a disappointment to her father and wants to prove that she can still be his adventure buddy. When he invites her to join him in filming the next episode of his show, Danny sees it as a chance to bond...it doesn't hurt that teen heartthrob Gus Price will be there as well. When their plane crashes deep in the Amazon Rainforest, Danny will be forced to face her fears, the truth about her father, and discover who she really wants to be.

The Speed of Falling Objects is an action packed survival story that I couldn't put down. I'm a big fan of survivalist tales and the fact that the main protagonist has a physical limitation with sight just made it even more interesting. I am not going to say I liked many of the characters; most of them come across as really horrible people who you probably wouldn't miss however there were a few characters that had my heart from the start...tears might have been shed. If you don't like creepy crawly insects, animals and nature trying to kill you, and nonstop action packed adventure then this novel is not for you...there was a romance element also. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book quite as much as I did but I'm listing it as a must read for 2019.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The combination of the plot, the characters hooks you from the start. This is a must-read for fans of this genre.

The protagonist is a 16-year-old girl named Danny who end up in the Peruvian rain forest.

The premise of the book is so interesting and the book definitely lives up to that.

The story is very much a character driven one and I loved how the author wrote it to be a humorous, yet deep story about not only adventure but also about self-discovery.

The author has a great gift for showing universal fears and writing flawed, well-rounded characters. I will be keeping an eye out for more from her in the future.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The center of this book is Danny, a 16, almost 17 year old girl, who is about to embark on an adventure with her survivalist father. Her father whom she barely knows has invited her to be a part of his survival show set in the Peruvian rain forest. What could go wrong? Everything.

I read this book in two sittings because I could not put it down. I am not a young adult, but Danny's story and her struggle with her own self worth and image is everyone's struggle. This author has a great gift in identifying universal fears and doubts and showing us the wounds of several characters. People play different parts during their lifetime and oh what freedom comes from dropping them and truly being themselves!

The story itself is compelling and the setting is so vividly described that I cannot imagine anyone not being drawn into this book. I loved it!
