I've been reading a lot of "end of the world as we know it" books lately. This one has a different view of life after. The characters were realistic as they battled to build a safe, secure life. Steven Moore built a new world that the reader can easily picture while you root for the survivors. Altogether a good read.

Not a brand new take on the future but still a fun and interesting book to read on the beach or plane trip. Ill keep a eye out for other possibilities by the author.

I couldn't get past the first chapter. What a trainwreck!

1. The prose

I cannot describe the cringe I felt reading this. It's like someone took every single bad line already expressed in B-rated 90's action-romance movies and plasted it all together.

It's like the author didn't even try.

2. The characters

Why write characters, when you can just use sexy-action-lady cardboard cut-out instead.
Don't forget to make her a proud American patriot, which she surely must express at least 4 times in the first chapter. How else will the readers know how hot and sexy and American she is?

Barf

I would recommend this book to nobody. Ever.

I REALLY wanted to like this book- The Last Humans, by Steven Moore. It's my preferred genre and the blurb sounded quite interesting. Truth be told, I struggled to get through the first third and then just gave up on it. Wish it had been written a bit more cohesively. I'll keep an eye out for future work though- there's a good foundation here.

I received a free copy to read/review from the awesome NET GALLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, lets' get to it, could this be true in some way?

Steven Moore has created a believable world gone strange after a bio-weapon is unleashed on us mere humans,. He has some good character driven stuff here but then of course to "new" old thing we have super warrior Penny Castro and she becomes the "all in one" as she staves off danger. I kinda of liked it but it is written at a slow pace for me personally. You may enjoy it.

The heroine is a Navy diver and later a sheriffs diver. When the worldwide catastrophe happens it does not seem that she is able to react well nor able to come up with workable solutions to her situation. As the story develops she becomes stronger and more resiliant. Somehow the Air Force becomes the leader of the surviving humans but they too do not seem to be able to think outside the box. The author is blaming a change in the environment, mostly the reduction of drinking water for the difficulties all face. A good read but seems to be filled with defeatists.

It's the apocalypse in a virus sent by an unknown country to America. It wipes out the majority of the population. The story follows an American Mexican woman as she navigates throughout the US. She picks up a teenage boy, and a man with a disability from a head injury. They both come to depend on her for food and shelter. She provides a snarky narrative of their journey through the years. It tells how the citizens and the government cope with the challenges they face. I usually don't care for snarky narratives, but the author tells the story with a good deal of humor and truth.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was interested by the description of this book but I think that it could be sharper in how it was written.

The pacing was quite slow and the action and events don't start that fast so I lost interest quite quickly.

I felt like the subject of the book also jumped around quite a bit and it was pretty confusing to read and to follow the events of the book. The subject of the book is good, but it just didn't come together for me.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the sound of this book, but was really disappointed that I found reading it to be such hard work.It had so much potential but quite honestly it was boring and I found myself reading in the hope that something interesting would happen. The book needs to be sharper and shorter and it might work then. Doesn't work for me as it is I am afraid.

DNF...couldn't connect with the author, seemed to jump from one subject to the next...only read about 25%. The subject for the book was good, but it didn't come together for me.

The writing is terribly choppy, the protagonist doesn't act in any manner resembling an actual human at all - seriously, you come up from a dive to find everyone dead so you go get a hamburger?! Not recommended for anyone.

Really enjoyed this book and would like to read more about the characters. Feel the book needs some polishing begore it is published, quite a few text errors.
