Wow. Crossing the Line is an extremely complex romance. Kitty and Roman were perfectly happy until their relationship was sabotaged. What follows is a heart breaking tale. As the story develops, we discover how and why the couple came to be. And Kitty, wow, what a horrific thing to have happened to her after an already tragic life. I love this story.

Kitty wakes up one morning to find her hockey player boyfriend Roman gone and his sleazy agent kicking her out of Roman's house. Kitty has to find the strength to stand on her own two feet without Roman, and she finds people that she can count on. Since Roman left pretty immediately, it was tough to see the connection between the two of them. I would have liked to see them spend more time together before they split. I really liked Kitty and the relationships she made with new people in her life, but it seemed a little pathetic that Kitty is so unable to take care of herself without Roman (or a man, in general). The writing was strong and flowed well. I would read more in this series.

I enjoyed this book. I had a slight problem as usual with the lack of communication. This is a romance novel so that is what most romance characters have issues with is communication.

I loved the flash backs that gave you a little insight into the characters relationship.

I would totally read Carla Swafford again. She kept my invested and interested in her characters.

I had some difficulty getting into this story. It opens up with us meeting Kitty and Roman. Kitty is someone who attaches herself to professional sports figures and Roman is a Russian hockey player in USA. Fast forward a little later and Roman takes off for Russia, but doesn’t tell Kitty and to add insult to injury, his agent comes and takes great pleassure in kicking her out of the apartment she and Roman shared. I like sports themed books, but this one just didn’t do it for me. The writing was good, just the story didn’t connect with me. That being said, I will probably try another by this author as I did like her writing.

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sexy romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

For me this book was a little hard to get into. Once I was about 40% in it started to flow a little better for me. I liked the concept of the book, but for me, the timing and flow of the book felt a little forced and so, meh.

I did like Kitty (Katie) and the whole side arc away from Roman. And although I liked Roman and Kitty together (Although their scenes were focused more on their sex life than their life together)- I just really felt their story was forced. Roman was such a self-centered jerk and that he wouldn't know anything about Kitty after living with her for 8 months... and then to have all these doubts about her straight away was just off-putting. Just the way he rolled over his actions while in Russia like it was really no big deal and then with his attitude with his best friend too. I just was kinda over it.

I did like how he started to evolve later in the story but by then I just wasn't interested in the storyline as much as I was with the arc of Kitty with the coach and his family.

I was drawn in by the hockey aspect of the book which was touched on lightly but the story was really more about Kitty and the transformation she takes while Roman is in Russia with all his doubts.

I'm sorry to say that this wasn't the book for me. I couldn't connect with either main character, I thought Roman was a very unlikable character and I felt the dialogue in the story came across as disjointed during certain conversations. The writing style itself was fine and I would try something by this author again, however story line wise I just didn't enjoy Crossing the Line sadly :(

This has not happened in a long time but I'm sorry to say I could not finish this book. I tried many times to read this book. It was very uncomfortable to read and the characters were not likable.

There is a lot going on in this book. First Roman and Kitty are together and Kitty has always attached herself to professional sportsmen. Mostly like her mother. When hockey season is over Roman leaves for Russia but does not tell, he leaves a note which she does not see. When his agent shows up at his place the next day he kicks her out and with nowhere to go she goes to the team to look for Roman. Later she ends up living with the coach and cooking for them it is there that she finds out that she is the coach’s daughter, she also tells them she cannot read and then when Roman comes back from Russia he left with choices. To date her for real, let her go and walk away. He must choose. Now at times I liked this story but at other times not so much. Yes, the sex scenes are hot but that is not the reason to be together that is just one. The characters are all good.

Roman made a huge mistake and his puck bunny suffered for it. Now he will do anything including begging to get his Kitty back. Loved that Kitty/Kathy evolved through out the book to become a stronger women who stopped letting life happen to her. Roman had to grow up and realize he wasn't the only one in the relationship, which made for a good read.

Roman is a Russian hockey star who has been playing in the USA. He very suddenly leaves the US to briefly play in Russia. The one thing he didn’t do was say goodby to his puck bunny, Kitty before he left. He did leave instructions with his manager to let Kitty stay in his apartment and pass on the message as to why he left and where he is.

Kitty wakes up one morning to find Roman gone and his manager kicking her out. Kitty has been left on her own with nothing for as long as she can remember. She has always used her looks and sex to get athletes to take her in. Her mother got pregnant by an athlete and never told her who her father was, just teaching her to find men to take care of her.

Before Kitty knows it she is being taken in by Romans coaches family. It is here that Kitty learns how a family acts and that she has strength she never knew she had. When Roman returns will he be able to win Kitty back?

This is the first book I have read by Carla Swafford and I plan to read more.

This is pretty reprehensible crap. I... can't... even.

It's insulting to women, hockey, romance, I think it's pretty insulting to any stand up guy. Not my cup of tea.

Even when I think of not finishing a book, I try to finish the book. When I take something on from NetGalley (thanks, but no thanks this time NG), I try to see it through to give that review. But, I just couldn't even finish and deleted it from the e-reader.

This story was great. Hockey player Roman Volkov and Kitty Summerville we’re literally amazing characters and I really enjoyed the journey these characters go on to find their HEA! It’s very well written, an original story with all drama and romance, wrapped into one delicious read!! Would recommend

Katie, or Kitty, is a puck bunny for hockey player Roman. Maybe just me, as many seem to give higher ratings than me, but found it very skimmable. A lot of crass language, raw sex, misunderstanding and conniving agents. Has its moments but not really my type of story. Would recommend overall, but only if raw language and sex are what you are looking for..

First of all, this was hard book to get through. I am a fan of sports/romance stories. However, Crossing The Line was rather disappointing for me. Roman is Russian, I am not sure if I had an issue with the writing of it was the fact Roman's English was often stilted. At times even Kitty/Katie was written the same way. The heroine is a childlike woman often coming off as much younger. Later it is revealed she had a rough childhood and cannot read.
Quite honestly this is not a book I would buy and I am being generous by giving it ⭐⭐⭐.

This is a really cute story. Roman and Kitty have amazing chemistry. She’s adorably naive and he’s so predictably alpha male. As the story unfolds, certain things start to make sense. You wonder how any two people could be so dense about their relationship but it all comes together in the end.

As I was reading Crossing the Line, I came to a section where our heroine is at the mercy of the hero's horrible agent and I had Pretty Woman flashbacks. That's definitely not a bad thing. The heroine of this story is not a very strong person at the beginning, but she definitely experiences growth during. I really appreciate an author that can show change and growth through the actions/reactions of characters. The hero has his own baggage and manages to overcome them as well. I am interested in the series, as I liked the secondary characters and can see potential for their own story arcs. I look forward to more from Carla Swafford.

This one was a little over the top for me. Roman the NHL pro hockey player comes across as a dufus, with no self esteem?? Really!! Katie (Kitty) does as well. I am sorry, I know illiteracy exists, but this story just seemed impausible!! Casey, Roman's agent was just horrible, and took advantage of both of them!! Totally not my thing. I rate this a 2.5.
