I really really hate to say this, but I feel like I was on a roller coaster that does not stop, and I hate roller coasters. When I first started Crossing The Line, to me it was bad. I thought, well it can only get better. Boy was I wrong. For the first time since I started reading, I really struggled to finish a book. It was all over the place. I love a good sports romance, and this was anything but. Everything felt unnatural, and unbelievable. There was no buildup to any of the plots that occurred, and believe me there was more than enough plots to make that happen. The characters. Uh, I seriously wanted to bang my head into a wall. Roman is probably the most unlikeable HERO that I have ever read. He is anything but sincere, and treats the main heroine like garbage. Look I am all for an alpha and his askhole ways, but he seriously takes it to a new level. His attitude is crap, and he seems as if he doesn't have an empathetic bone in his body. And the heroine? I wanted to punch her in the face. She got on my nerves like no other. Also again, the most unlikeable heroine I have ever read about. She acts like she is incapable of taking control of her life. If she really was such a puck bunny, she would have had more of a backbone, because everyone and their moms know the backlash that comes with being a bunny. She was childish, and naive. She is not the heroine that I enjoy reading about. Crossing The Line is anything but a love story. More than half the book, they wasn't even really on speaking terms. I am glad to say, I am finished and I can forget about this book, because it seriously has left me with a headache.

I wasn’t too sure about this book as I started reading it, I was a little outoff by Roman’s attitude & thought that Kitty(Katie) was more like a door mat. As the book went on I got a little more into it but still had my reservations about it. The story turned out to be kind of sweet but still over the top sexy.

What drew me to this book, was the Atlanta Hockey team. While originally from Philadelphia (Go Flyers!), most of my life has been in Atlanta and I have witnessed both the Flames and the Thrashers come and go. While Atlanta has beautiful Springs (accept for the Extremely high pollen counts), and hot summer, we do not have the kind of winter weather where kids can go outside and skate in playgrounds, ponds or even backyards where hosing down can create a think coat of ice (my husband's cousins did that in Chicago.) to practise on, so it is not a surprise that hockey is not big here.
Roman is a Russian enforcer of the Atlanta team. He has a terrible agent, who is not doing much for his career. Kitty was "raised" by a mother who was verbally abusive when she was not ignoring her daughter, who grew up with no self esteem or education and only knew the life that she learned from her mother, a puck bunny. Abandoned by her boyfriend in a Nashville restaurant, Roman and his team walk in, he sees her crying and feels the need to rescue her, inviting her to stay at his Atlanta home. They become lovers, but between her lack of self esteem and his big ego, he doesn't realize how fragile she is. When he takes a trip to Russia, he leaves her at the mercy of his horrible agent, who throws her out of the house. Bewildered, she finds her way to the stadium, and is taken in by Roman's coach and his family. And there she finds what she has always dreamed about. When Roman comes back, he finds his woman has changed. Will he have the smarts to win back the woman who he now realizes that he loves?
I found the characters interesting, more so as they were developed. The provocative plot written with an appealing voice made this an engaging read. The sex scenes are graphic, but if that bothers you, they can be skipped, without destroying the story line.
I received a free, advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

I have a thing for Russians - Bratva, hockey players, whatever works. This one definitely worked for me.
I wasn't sure if I would enjoy a puck bunny transforms into legit girlfriend story or not. Kitty was an interesting character - I wouldn't say she used men to get what she wants (and that's mostly food and shelter) but that she looks for love in every wrong place that she can. She's used to being discarded by everyone and harbors a pretty big secret. She's not an "in your face" puck bunny and is faithful to whomever she happens to be with at the time.
Roman was kind of an ass for the first part of the story. He very much skirted the line of legit caring about Kitty while dismissing her as nothing more than an easy/temporary fling. He made decisions that were soooo selfish and he deserved any and all work he had to do to regain Kitty's trust.
This was really sugar sweet with some low grade angst. Satisfying HEA. I'm not sure if this is a start of a series but I'd like to see Ryan's story at the very least!

Wow, I love a good sports romance but Crossing the Line definitely doesn’t qualify as one. The story follows Roman, a pro hockey player, and Kitty, the puck bunny he’s been living with for 8 months. When there is a misunderstanding, and Kitty believes she has been thrown out of Roman’s house, they’re forced to confront what they mean to each other and if their relationship is healthy (yeah, it’s definitely not a quality relationship). Roman has not treated Kitty well, and Kitty has allowed it because she is “just” a puck bunny. I really didn’t like this dynamic, and it was hard to like either of them - Roman for the way that he’s treated Kitty, and Kitty for acting like a puck bunny and not a very strong woman. I did not warm up to either one as the story progressed. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review - and, honestly, I did not like this book.

Carla Swafford has a breakout with CROSSING THE LINE, the first book in the Atlanta Edge Hockey series.
When I first started reading this story, I wasn’t sure how I would like it. Kitty’s character rubbed me wrong. I didn’t understand why she did the things she did. I didn’t like that she considered herself a puck bunny. She didn’t seem like a stereotypical puck bunny to me. As I continued to read the story, I respected her more and felt bad for what she went through. At times, I felt she was too hard on Roman. She wasn’t blameless in the situation. I liked Roman Volkov’s character. He is a good guy. It was admiral whom he took Kitty in. He made a mistake. He realizes that he took Kitty for granted and tries to make amends.
Carla Swafford did a great job with the plot. It was clever how things played out. The story was thought-provoking and heartfelt. This is the first book that I have read by Carla Swafford. I enjoyed her writing style. I am interested in continuing to follow this series. I recommend this book to people that enjoy sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it was a very enjoyable read. I am a sucker for a good hockey romance book. This book is the first book in the series and it is about Roman and Kitty. I loved the interaction between the two them. Their story was full of romance but it also had a lot of drama thrown in which kept me guessing until the very end. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a hard review for me to write because I’m usually a fan of sports/romance stories but Crossing The Line was very disappointing. Roman, the hero, and I use that term lightly, is a jerk who treats the heroine like a temporary piece of trash to be thrown out when he tires of her. The heroine is a simpering, childlike woman. And while Kitty has a reason I for acting the way she does the back story behind her character isn’t realistic.
The writing was okay but the author who writes Roman with a Russian accent seems to forget which character is talking because Kitty especially along with others are often speaking with the Russian accent. What I mean by that is Roman will leave out a ‘s or and’s here and sometimes speaks in broken sentences. That gets passed onto other characters.
Not a book I would buy.

Kitty (Katie) Summerville is a puck bunny who never knew who her father is has been with several sports stars since she was 16 when her mother kicked her out of the house. She is currently living with hockey star Roman Volkov until he left on a trip to Russia to play in a tournament and he left her a note and told his agent to get rid of her. She stayed with her mother until she told her to get out because she wasn’t supporting her. Kitty walked to the arena to try and find someone to help her contact Roman and find out what happened. Roman’s coach and his family helped Kitty to figure out what happened. Kitty kept to herself because she had lived all over and didn’t want to make any waves with Roman so she never complained but when Coach helped her out she finally saw what a normal family actually was like.
Crossing The Line is a book that I reread parts to see where the author has given hints about Katie and Roman. Carla Swafford has taken a different approach and showed that not all women that bunnies are all different.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sexy and hot, this romance is not to be missed! I loved the characters, from Roman with his singular focus on hockey....until it wasn't, and Kitty, the throw away puck bunny who seems to be incapable of making her own way in life. The characters are likeable and their story engaged me from the very first page. Kittly, especially, showed a great deal of personal growth and changes over the course of the novel in way that I found endearing. I felt totally invested in her story and wanted her to get her HEA ending.
If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list.

This is the first book I have read by Carla Swafford and I really enjoyed it. I am a huge fan of sports romances (hockey is my favorite) and I really enjoyed this one. I also love books told in a dual POV so this book got points for that as well. This book follows Kitty and Roman's relationship. Kitty is a "puck bunny" and Roman is an NHLer from Russia. Like most contemporary sports romances, there is quite a bit of drama between our two main characters. One thing I enjoyed most about the book was the flash backs that gave more insight to the beginning of their relationship. I would have liked to have more of those since we meet the main characters after they had been together for 8 months. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking for more books from Carla!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this free ARC!

Wow, I gotta say I was surprised a few times. In a good way most of the time.
It seems that Kitty and Roman have problems communicating when they aren't having sex. It was great seeing how they reconnect and learn more about each other.

This is Roman and Kitty book, Roman is an up and coming hockey star! Kitty is a pick bunny , they meet at a bar really early in the book kitty is crying over her last boyfriend that kicked her out and Roman immediately says "your going to move in with me!" That was a little quick for me but ok! Roman gets called to Russia to play hockey in the Olympics and leaves kitty sleeping. Kitty wakes up to Romans sports agent kicking her out of Roman house! She's confused why when they got along so well?! Roman wouldn't do that to her?! This book was just ok for me it was really far fetched and the whole "kitty" thing was a bit much for me! It definitely has that porno feel for me which I do enjoy but I need a little more than that! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
