I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I really enjoyed it, I thought it had a great story and well drawn characters, a story about loss and love, would definitely recommend.

Overall great book, with complex but nice relationships between friends and family. The ending was satisfying. Would recommend.

Nice book to read. See how relationships open up a grow in front of you. The book was well written and flowed well. Was true to life. Unlike a lot of romance books where everything is always rosy in the garden . This one isn’t and shows we all have bad days

I absolutely loved this! I really liked Gemma from the start and instantly you can feel the chemistry between her and Sam so I was really excited to see where the story would go. I found the majority of the characters really likeable and I genuinely cared for them all actually. I did find the book started off a little slow but once it picked up the pace about a quarter of the way in, I was fully invested and couldn't put it down!

The book is ok at best. I found that Sam, the male lead was overly aggressive and mean to Gemma. I don't mind a little misunderstanding and mean around the edges male leads but this felt like too much. Gemma was cute and I liked her and I am happy that she found love. I cannot relate to single moms but Edwards made it easy to understand Gemma's life, struggles, decisions, and short comings. The book started very slow for me but then it picked up and while I didn't end up loving it, I am glad that I read it. Some of the humor was lost on me since I am not British but it was doable.

I absolutely adored this as a love story and really enjoyed how the story progresses. For me, I think this will be a blockbuster summer beach read! I'll certainly be including it in our library's summer reads pamphlet this year. If you enjoy Heidi Swain or Caroline Roberts, you should enjoy this!

The Summer of Wishfully Thinking by Eve Edwards

4/5 Stars

Fantastic read, warm and funny with complex characters.

This wonderful story at its core is about family experiencing love, loss and what it means to truly be there for each other. Gemma Whitehall helps people tie the knot as the local registrar, but watching express their love for ea other isn't easy for this single mother.
Although this book slowed down a bit in the middle and some of the writing was a bit choppy I rather enjoyed it. I couldn't have asked for a better ending.

Thank you #NetGalley and #harpercollins for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Gemma has a son from a brief relationship when she was a young teenager, however her relationship with his father is non - existent and has put her off relationships.
Sam has his own problems with relationships, plus he has taken on a castle t to renovate and make a living from.
When Gemma moves into a cottage on the estate this brings the two together, can they fight their mutual attraction and avoid forming a relationship? Add Gemma's alcoholic ex and Sam's father who is suffering from Alzheimer's and there are twists and turns in the story.
A sweet story, with a touch of spice, it did keep me reading all hours, ideal for a summer evening read.

I really enjoyed these characters. They were developed and even if you could see a part of the plot coming up it was still done nicely. It was well written and you felt for the characters, especially when they couldn't seem to catch a break. We've all had days (or weeks or months) where it felt like nothing was going right and I appreciated how the characters really felt 'true' in those moments.

A very sweet, well written book. Sam and Gemma were both likeable lead characters. Both had been burned by past relationships but still managed to find a connection with each other. The book also had a really good supporting cast in Di, Leo and Sam’s dad William. I would have liked more of a resolution on the Ray plot but overall this book is well worth a read.

THE SUMMER OF WISHFUL THINKING is a sweet story about family, loss, and love. I love it when a romance has flawed, but loveable lead characters and Sam & Gemma really fit the bill. I really loved how they learned from each other as the story progressed.

This book started out a little slow for me, but picked up afterwards and kept a good story pace after that. After the slow start the ending felt rushed, but was very satisfying.

I found the writing choppy in places, jumping too quickly between characters and scenes, but that was a minor issue. Overall this was a great book with complex, but sweet relationships between friends, family members, and extended family. And the ending was wonderfully satisfying.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
