Rage by Cora Carmack is the highly anticipated sequel to Roar, a book that absolutely knocked me off my feet when I first read it. Carmack has created a world based on storm magic that has captivated my imagination and her cast of storm hunters are delightful and funny. I was so excited to get an advanced copy of Rage to enjoy.

A lot of sequels suffer from "second book syndrome", especially when part of a trilogy. It can feel like the second book is all background information for the big action that will take place in the third book. I did not get that feeling at all from Rage. The second book does progress at a slower pace than Roar but is filled with character exploration, which I love. While Aurora and the crew explored the land  around Pavan and had a multitude of adventures in the first book, Rage was more contained. Most of the action took place in Pavan or just outside the kingdom. Aurora is learning to use and accept her new powers and she is dealing with the fallout of her previous actions, including lying to the crew about her true identity.

When Aurora arrives back in Pavan, she finds the kingdom in chaos. The Locke family has seized control of the kingdom and are doing little to protect the refugees camped outside the city. Aurora sees this as her chance to take back what is rightfully hers and prove to herself that she is capable of leading and protecting her people.

The thing I loved most about this book was getting to dive deeper into some of the side characters. We learn so much about many members of the storm hunter crew. I especially enjoyed getting to know more about Jinx and her unique brand of magic, as well as how her type of magic interacts with the Stormling magic. There was also a deep dive into Kiran and Aurora's relationship. I enjoyed how real their relationship feels, especially while Kiran is learning to deal with Aurora's true identity as a stormling.  There was struggle and growth in their relationship, which added depth to the story.

Overall I would give this book four out of five stars. While the book was slower-paced, I still felt like it was a solid book in the series. It was an enjoyable read the whole way through and I am excited for the next installment!

Thank you so much to the publisher for an e-ARC of this book!

I can’t say enough how much I love these books! The magic system by itself keeps me coming back for more! I love and am fascinated by storms and this just feeds my addiction for them. I thoroughly enjoyed coming back to these characters and watching them grow and develop throughout each of their journeys. I was excited that we got to go back to Pavan and now we are getting into some real dangerous and exciting rebellion type adventures! The Stormlord! Omg.....I need more! I am so intrigued by this character and I’m glad we got some different POV in this book. I am not so patiently waiting for book 3 at this point. Send help! SOS.

I don’t know how my review is gone, but here we go again I absolutely MUST talk about this book and beg for book three.

Okay I have a few things i need to talk about. Firstly:

WHY AM I FEELING THESE EMOTIONS FOR CASSIUS. There I got that out.

Okay. Back to this story. So much happens in this book. I swear Is pent half of it praying that Cora didn’t got George RR Martin on my characters because I just didn’t think could take it. Leave them be. Don’t hurt my babies, I love them.

Second of all a few different couples/possibilities pop up and I am shipping a few of these HARD CORE! I want to know everyone else’s theories because I have some interesting ones!

Third of all there are so many twists in this book that I felt like I was jumping out of my seat for half to the book! I had some words with my kindle on some of the poor life choices particular people, but it’s okay. I know they will rectify their choices in the next book. Hopefully. Possibly.

But back to the Storm Lord. I don’t think I touched on him yet. Why am I feeling conflicted over him? Why did finding out more of his story lead me to this confusion. I am unsure. But I do know that he needs a good butt whooping. So I am stoked to see that happen.

I can’t wait for what comes next for our team in the next installment for this series because this book really sets a few stages for us. It brought in new characters and brought back some we didn’t think we would see again.

I’m rambled and jumbled, but it is book two so you need to read book one and if you were in love with book one then this one is going to knock your socks off. If you were on the fence then this book will seal the deal for you because it was legit everything we were hoping for.

Probably one of the most anticipated books, the first blew me away and so did the second installment! Truly an epic story!

I'm a sucker for unique magic systems. Stormhunters...hunters of storms...HOW COOL?! Our main character is a vulnerable person who grows so much. I enjoy that in books. Flawed characters. I do see that complained about a lot so maybe it's personal preference but I adore it. Also, this is the second in the series so you absolutely need to go grab Roar and read it ASAP.

I have been looking forward to reading RAGE since I finished ROAR in spring 2017. I absolutely adore Cora's writing and I found the way she incorporated elemental and storm magic into this series to be refreshing a world inundated with high fantasy YA novels.

In RAGE we get to dive deeper into the history of the world and the magic systems. I did find that this book had a much slower pace than the first book. I'm not exactly sure why, but if felt like I spent lots of time *waiting* for the action to start. We meet new and intriguing characters and get to uncover some interesting secrets. I'm really excited to see how everything ends in REIGN next year!

I absolutely loved Roar, and for Cora Carmack to make her long-awaited return with Rage and all of it spectacular glory made reading this story all the more wonderful. The stakes were much higher, and the story itself felt richer, as it had time to take shape and refine itself into a fleshed-out tale compared to its predecessor. I eagerly anticipate the next installment, and many of the students I work with are already looking forward to the third book.

Rage picks up right where Roar left off.

The plot has a decent pace and Aurora finally steps up and owns who she is. the romance was a little wibbly for me but eventually steadied. The world building is still awesome and part of what draws me to this series. The secondary characters are really what helps this book be good.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Teen for an e-ARC of Rage by Cora Carmack.

Cora did it again with Rage! I truly love how the magic system works in this ya fantasy. The concept of storm magic is so unique, and the way Cora describes how it works and the history of it through out the series makes you crave more. Aurora truly starts finding her own place in Rage. Learning more about her family history and the Lockes' family made the plot even more intriguing. Cora made it where you wanted to know more about the Lockes, which I didn't necessarily want to know in Roar because of how evil they were. Seeing Aurora take a stand and start fighting for what she believed in truly helped drive the book. I can't wait for Reign to be released to see how the trilogy ends.

I loved the first book in this series. The second book does not disappoint. In fact, it surpassed my expectations. The love between Aurora and Kiran is captivating. The manner in which Cassius adores and honors Aurora is admirable. And the magic...well, that is simply mesmerizing. I am impatiently awaiting the next book in the series because this was an ending I did not see coming.

I loved Roar with all my bookish heart. I named it my top book of that year and I had been dying for two years to get my hands on Rage! Now that I had it and became part of the street team, I was truly blessed to be given this opportunity to review the sequel to my most favorite book.
Rage was everything I could have asked for and more. I was truly able to fall in love with these characters again and discover new ways to love them. Aurora is a very very very likable character with sooo many reasons to fight for her kingdom. It was such an honor to see her development from Roar, all the way through the end of Rage. I can not recommend this series enough. The storms, the magic, love, people, like, literally everything in these books are ideas that I love and full heartedly get excited for.

I started this one and I got about half way and was struggling. I love the prince the most and he wasn't in it as much as I hoped. I will def pick this up again though.

So, I just finished reading Rage by Cora Carmack. This is book two in her Stormheart series. Cora has given us another story that draws you in and you feel like you're a part of Aurora's world. Even if you're not a die hard fan of fantasy books, you will still enjoy this one.

Rage by Cora Cormack is the highly anticipated sequel to her YA fantasy Roar. This is a continuation of the first book so you must read it first. If you haven't then immediately proceed with buying it and experiencing its greatness. You can thank me later :)

In Rage, Aurora is returning home to deal with the aftermath of her leaving in the first place. She is a different person than she was when she left. She is stronger and more confident in her abilities. She also has to own up to the secrets she has been keeping from those who have grown close to her.

It was wonderful being back with this cast of characters, and we are introduced to some new faces as well. This book is filled with action and high stakes, anxiety filled situations. I felt like it was non-stop from the moment Aurora steps foot in Pavan. Readers are taken on an emotional ride and the whole things end with a shocking moment that will leave you DYING for more.

Oh my gosh! That was so much to take in! And Cassius! I'm going to need that next book soon. Like really soon.

Rage resumes at the end of Roar, Aurora returned to Pavan to try to save her people from the Locke and the stormlord. She will meet the rebels, she will also have to confess the truth to Kiran, Jinx and all the others about her true identity.

We have several points of view, that of Roar of course, but also those of Kiran, Novaya, Cassius and Cruze.

It was a real pleasure to find all the characters I had loved so much in the first book. They have evolved a lot and although I am quite disappointed with how long it takes Roar to tell her friends the truth, I still understand her reasons.

I loved seeing Roar take control of herself with the will to save her people, to change mentalities and not to ruin her relationship and friendships in the process. So yes, there are ups and downs, but she’s finally taking responsibility and I like it.

Kiran is a mule’s head, his objective is to protect Roar but obviously when he discovers the truth he is more or less upset. His reactions are normal even if it breaks my heart.

I really enjoyed having Cassius’ feelings and thoughts, I can’t manage to hate him totally because even if his methods are deplorable I still think he has a good heart. Now I ask to see in the last volume. Especially since I was quite surprised by the end of Rage.

We are also discovering Novaya much more, I find her very endearing and I really hope that the relationship she has managed to establish with Jinx will not end soon.

Cruze is a rather interesting character, not developed enough despite all the chapters of his point of view but we understand a little more things.

I really loved this book and I hope we don’t have to wait too long before we know the end of the story.

Quick word: A series full of action and twists and turns.

So I enjoyed this novel from cover to cover. Although I thought it would definitely take a different path, it was enjoyable nonetheless.

Old characters return to stake their claim, while other new character are seamlessly interwoven in such a way that the reader soon forgets they were not always there. Aurora begins to find her way in life only to be struck down by immovable obstacles (or guys with the power of storms at their fingertips, they are immovable too).

I really enjoyed the further exploration into why Stormlord is Stormlord, gaining insight into his flaws while also leaving parts to the imagination. Essentially though, Stormlord is still an epic jerk hellbent on dominating the (fake) royal family.

Slowing of the story is quickly remedied with epic battles and swelling emotions. Twists and turns are in abundance. And finally, there's a new romance which made me just want to take the two characters, squish them together and screech at the top of my lungs because #goals

Well and truly worth the single evening it took me to read this beauty of a book

I am 50% aghast at the cliffhanger of an ending, 50% thrilled that there will be another book, and about 67.8% now here for a Nova/ Jinx reunion.
I love the juxtaposition of the Stormlord with Aurora. Both equal and opposite? Drawn to each other, connected, and condemned to meet again and again.
I have a very strong feeling about who is going to end up being the Stormlord’s father. I also have a very, VERY strong feeling about what happened to young Cruze and his friends. And excuse me! Finn! Did you just really!!!!!
4.5 stormy stars

My Rating: 4.5 stars

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of Rage since before I even finished Roar, and I cannot believe this book is finally out in the world!

For me — a fan of YA Fantasy and a romance reader — the Stormheart Series is perfection! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the writing is amazing, the characters are captivating, the magic system and world-building are phenomenal, the story is epic, and the romance gives me heart eyes! I do think it was all just a bit better in book one, but I still love book two.

Rage is a good filler/bridge book for a trilogy. Enough happens that keeps me interested, but I’m left wanting more (which I hope to comes by way of a badass conclusion with book three). The pace is a tad slow at times, but I was still plenty invested in the story.

I think the characters are the high point in this series …moreso the secondary ones in Rage. I felt that Aurora, Kiran, and Cassius are pretty stagnant in terms of growth. Jinx, Nova, and Zephyr are SO AMAZING, though — I love what they bring to the table in this book!

I also really enjoyed the romance. I am a big fan of Cora’s NA romances, and I love how her romance writing has influenced the plot of this series.

And I can’t forget to mention that the back story of the Stormlord that we get is interesting and now I have THEORIES!

Overall, I absolutely recommend Rage! This series has one of the coolest worlds/magic systems I’ve read and characters I can’t get enough of! Check it out and suffer while we wait for book three along side me!

***I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review***

Rage was definitely more than worth the wait! I devoured this book in one sitting. I decided to start it one evening and the next thing I knew it was 1 am and I had finished the book. Oops *shrugs*. If that isn’t an indication of how riveting this sequel is then I don’t know what it is. I couldn’t get enough of these characters--especially the scenes between Roar and Kiran. Swoooonnnnnn.

Rage picks right up where Roar left off. And believe me, the action starts fairly quickly. There’s truly never a dull moment! In this book, Aurora--Roar-- still hasn’t come clean to her stormhunter crew yet even though they’ve finally reached the borders of Pavan. Meanwhile, Cassius is still trying to find Roar while he simultaneously saves Pavan from all of the storms that keep arising daily. All the while, the Stormlord is making his way to Pavan and leaving havoc and destruction in his wake.

I have a confession: my heart loves Kiran and Cassius. I love them both for different reasons! I do think that Roar will end up with Kiran, so I guess that means I’ll end up with Cassius ;)
Believe me, I’m okay with that. I’ll gladly volunteer as tribute to be his girlfriend.

Cora creates such amazing characters. I love Roar, Kiran, Cassius, and the rest of the crew. The theme of found family is executed beautifully in this book. The relationships between Roar and the stormhunters feel very organic and authentic.

However, as much as I loved this book, I do have one complaint. I wasn’t a fan of how abruptly the point of view changes. One minute I would be reading from Roar’s point of view and then the next it is Kiran’s point of view. I’m sure it will probably be fixed in the finished copy, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

That being said, I think everyone should read this book! This series is incredibly unique, well-written, and full of amazing characters!
