Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! I've been waiting what feels like forever for this book to come out and finally scored an ARC. The book was informative enough to remind me what happened in the first book, yet it was still fresh enough to not seem repetitive. Roar's continued development throughout the book creates a new experience while keeping you hooked throughout and not losing the sense of the character introduced in the first book. I was a little disappointed to find that this is another cliff hanger and I'll have to wait for another book to finish out the story, but, based on the excellence of this book and the first one, it'll be worth the wait.

I am a member of Cora's street team and thoroughly enjoyed book one, so I am probably the exact kind of reader that would love book two. I received the book in one of Cora's giveaways for participation in her read-along in July.

I think this book is really different from others because of its emphasis on character development in the fantasy genre. I have read many other fantasy series and they generally tend to focus more on plot than the characters. This series has both. It's part of what attracted me to the first book (in addition to the unusual use of magic - I had never thought of storms as an "enemy" but it is original and really well done) and Cora continues it here. You really feel like you know Cora and Kiran.

I really have little to complain about in this book. If I had to choose one thing, it would be the background on the Stormlord. At times, it felt disjointed and took away from moving the plot of book two forward. It also felt unfinished (although I suspect that it will be finished in book 3).

I plan on posting a full review of the novel on my blog the week of the release, because I fear that it is still too early. You will be able to find it at www.rosiesreads.com.

I was originally interested in this because I loved the first book in the series, but some of my students who read this on Netgalley were not impressed, and it’s just not worth investing my time right now. Maybe after it’s published!

Roar holds a special place in my heart and I had high hopes for Rage. Although, I enjoyed this title I did not love it. It is still a wonderful title and the story, writing, and characters are all wonderful. I would recommend this title, it just sadly was not for me.

Roar was one of my favorite reads. Rage gives you more storms, more action and more magic. I enjoyed this one.

I do think it suffered a bit from middle book syndrome. Some of the pacing felt slow at times. I also felt the story plot became unnecessarily over complicated.

My BBF Cassius I wish was in this one more but when he did make an appearance I was smitten and glued. The ending was fantastic.

I had some mixed feelings on this one so I am giving it 3.5 stars.

Received a digital ARC from the publisher after winning a giveaway from the author!

4/5 Stars

I recently re-read Roar and I am so glad I did, there is SO MUCH I forgot about the plot! A lot of what happens in the first book is expanded upon in this one along with the characters.

Everyone focuses on Cassius, Kiran, and Roar, but I'm really loving Novaya's character ARC and her POV and am super excited to see where her storyline goes. We also get a new mysterious POV from the past that ends up being very important and intriguing.

The development of the different types of magic and just what their powers do is getting really interesting. We learn more about Earth and Water magic. More about stormling magic, and of course more about Roar's mysterious magic.

There wasn't much I didn't like, and I honestly cannot decide if j like Cassius of Kiran more. Definitely recommend this series

I thought this was a duology, since the next book isn’t listed, so my brain was prepared for an ending and that’s not what it got, which is why I had a hard time deciding on how many stars to give it.

I enjoyed this book but not as much as the first one. It was nice to see Roar come into her own power and take the next steps into taking back her kingdom.

There were lots of discoveries, and a few theories on my end, made and I do look forward to more reveals in the next book.

I will say that I’m THRILLED with how it ended. I wasn’t expecting that but I’m so very happy she went that route.

So now we wait...

This was a good follow up to Roar. We learn more about some of the other characters but maybe don't get as much of the romance between Locke and Aurora. It is the typical 2nd book in that you have more questions than answers and now have to wait patiently for the next book. The author has had some health issues, so I hope the wait isn't too long.

I haven't read the first book in this series in a long time, so I spent the first bit of the book a bit lost. Rage was good, though it did have some slow parts that I struggled to get through. I still enjoy the uniqueness of this series and the world. It keeps me interested at a point when much of fantasy just feels like the same thing being recycled over and over again.

This was absolutely worth the wait! Ms. Carmack has been suffering for the past few years, and the fact that she was writing this during her suffering is incredible! This book was just as good as Roar, if not better.

When I read Roar, the first book in this series, back in 2017 I was in love. The storytelling was fluid, the plot clipped along at a good pace, and I was interested in all of the characters that we encountered. When Rage’s publication got pushed back due to Carmack’s illness I was a little disappointed, even though I certainly understood why, as I was fiercely anticipating the sequel.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find quite the same joy in Rage as I had in Roar.

We return to the series with the same cast that we had come to know and love in Roar and I was anxious to dive back in to their story. Aurora and the storm hunting motley crew she joined have returned to the city of her birth where she is the rightful heir to the throne to find it beaten and battered by the Stormlord who is set upon destroying the Locke family who have taken up residence.

While there were a few points in the story I truly enjoyed, like a budding f/f romance, there was also a great deal that felt very dry. It was as if the bones of the story were there to hold it together but it was missing the substance that would make it truly special.

I think it speaks highly Carmack that even despite lacking what I would call substance, the story’s bones were still enough to carry it through to a three star rating.

I found the highlights of the book to be when it focused on characters and their growth and turmoil rather than engaging only in the main plot. All of out main characters are back and we get a good look into who they are beneath the storm chasing which I felt we didn’t really see before. Except for our male love interest. He is still as interesting as a used toothpick.

Despite my love of the characters themselves, I felt like the plot was a little thin. It was technically good, the building blocks were there, but we never saw deeper into it than a passing glance. Honestly, despite having just finished reading the book I couldn’t tell you much about what actually happened. It just felt shallow.

Overall, Rage was good but not great. There was enough to keep me reading but it just lacked the depth to make me truly invested. This review is of an advanced copy so the author may make some changes in the final edition that could change my mind about it overall. I do have a finished copy preordered so once I read it I may come back and update this review but for now I’m leaving it with a 3/5.

I would give this book more of a 4.5 star rating. I read and absolutely loved Roar when it came out and so I had been really excited for this sequel to finally be released. Reading this book I realized that I don't actually like the main love interest, he is overbearing and controlling and just not my favorite. But I can't deny the fact that these books just work for me, they are a lot of fun to read and I have a great time with the story. I love the elemental magic and Aurora is a strong main character who I really enjoy. That being said, my favorite parts of this book were actually the sections focused on Nova. I love her as a side character and I love that we got to see more of her in this book. I love the side plot with Nova and the fact that there is the beautiful beginning of a female/female romance which I am always excited to find in fantasy novels plus the indications of mental health rep, I loved it a lot. I still liked reading Aurora's parts but Nova was my favorite. However, I got near the end of the book and realized that the story was not going to wrap up, for some reason I had thought this was the conclusion of the series. I'm excited that we will get another book from this series, I just hadn't seen any information anywhere on Goodreads about the next book in the series so there is no way to know how long it will be before we get that final book so that makes me nervous but I am still excited and I really enjoy this series so far overall.

I was lucky to receive an e-book from our stormlord herself Cora as being a part off here Rage street team.

This was one off my most anticipated book releases off this year and it didn’t disappoint. The story continues when Aurora arrives in Pavan and meets the rebellion. Together they want to get Pavan go against the Lockes who has taken over her kingdom.

Aurora also has to come clean who she really is to Kiran and the rest off the crew. And not everyone is really happy when they discover the Roar is Aurora, the next queen of Pavan.

Nova also learns more about her ability as a fire witch. And meets someone along the way who helps her control her fire. And learns that Aurora is still alive and not giving up on her.

We also going to meet an new character. Who is connected with the black marker the eye, and the rebellion. And is not always impressed about Aurora.

You will also learn a lot more about the stormlord. Who he is and what happend to him that makes him hate the Lockes so much that he wants to destroy them.

I absolutely can recommend this book and it leaves you breathless and in anticipation for the third book.

Oh my flipping gosh!!!!
That can't be it, right?! Like there's more to the book, right? I'm not gonna have to wait for another book again to see what's gonna happen... RIGHT??!!! Why do you hate me so Cora? Haha

Bhajdnsusgej!!!!!

This book took me on such a trip though. It picked up right where ROAR left off, and then takes you on the craziest path of twist and turns. To the point I didn't even want to put the thing down Haha.
This book was just as good if not better then ROAR was. And I loved how the progression of the story unfolded and the introduction to new plots and characters came about. It was so well developed and laid out for us as readers, and Cora had this amazing way of really creating such a beautiful new world that it just pulls you in and you feel as if you could actually be there.

One of my favorite aspects of this book is the development on the storms and charters themselves. We saw so much growth back in ROAR, but I loved having the bigger picture kinda spread out to really see and understand. It allowed for so many more emotions to be seen and explored. And just gave me that deeper connection to the story. To be pulled in and share in the excitement and fear. And the romance and adventure. And I loved every second of it.

We get to see things in such a different light now. And I just can't say enough about what that says about Cora's writing style. How she has this way of bringing you in and causing you to invest in her story and characters.

And let me just talk about the characters for a sec...
Roara especially has grown so much from those first pages back in ROAR. Shes learned so much about herself and what it means to want to help and defend people. And what it means to care about people and be cared for by them too. Shes grown so strong these books. And I loved seeing that transformation happen in her. But I love the grounding Cora gave her as well. Those changes didn't just happen and have her character all the sudden not hold true to her original qualities. But she still struggled with things at times. She still had insecurities and doubts. And I loved that, it made her more relatable and human.

And then there's Kiren (Locke).
While his personal struggles weren't as big as Roar's. He still goes though his fair share of growing and facing new changes. And while I honestly wanted to strangle the boy at times. I adored his passion and drive. And his loyalty those he loves and cares about. Plus he's a pretty big dreamboat book boyfriend haha.

And then there's the rest of the hunter crew. We really get to know some of them better then before. And I adored getting to actually see them open up and give us more into their backgrounds and personalities.
And oh man! Did I have some things about certain ones of them that I totally called even back during ROAR. Haha. *I'm not smug about it or anything though* hehe.

Overall this book was just so so good. When I wasn't at work or in the middle of something. My nose was buried in my kindled trying to devour the pages as quick as I could.

I will say I would suggest rereading ROAR again though before starting this one. It could have just been me... but it had been long enough that when I started RAGE, I found myself forgetting some of the things that happened. And since this one picks up directly where ROAR ends, it was a great refresher. Plus why pass up a perfectly good excuse to jump back into an awesome book and series *wing wink*

My only complaint to theis book though is just that it ended Haha. As the pages counted down I knew there wasn't enough time to resolve everything. But that still didn't mean I didn't pout like 5 year old when I got to the end, and officially knew I was gonna have to wait for another book haha.

RAGE was definitely without a doubt a...

This is a standard, though entertaining, sequel to a series enjoyed by many. This will appeal to fans of writers like Maggie Stiefvater and Sarah Maas.

This sequel to Roar had a lot of the same fun as the first. The side characters had a little more development and I enjoyed watching them grow. Roar grew some too. She came into her own and was less helpless and confused than in the previous book. Fans of the first will love this installment too.

The romance is wonderful and bothersome in equal measure. There is no denying that Kiran is sexy and he and Aurora have something that keeps you turning the pages into the night. However, his particular brand of domineering protection and manhandling Roar in the name of protecting her or changing her mind is not to my taste. He is constantly grabbing her or dragging her or threatening to lock her in a closet for her own good. Who is he to decide what is best for her. Although this does not overshadow their entire relationship, it eats away at my affection for him.

The bad guy was all kinds of scary and disturbing in a way I haven't really seen before. So often, a bad guy is just generically evil, with nothing original or different about him to distinguish him from any other nemesis. That is not the case in Roar. His menace rolls of the page and hits you in the face, making you shudder. Well done, Ms. Cormack. I will certainly pick up the next.

3.5 This second book in the Stormheart series picks up with Roar and her new Stormhunter friends going back to Pavan. She has different motives though, as unbeknownst to them she is Princess Aurora of Pavan and wants to save her mother the Queen and her friend who she left when she staged her "kidnapping".
I was really excited for this but when I first picked it up, I read about 20% and then put it back down for a while. It didn't grab me immediately, but I think that was because I'd forgotten the first book. I pressed on after I picked it back up and remembered a bit about why I'd liked the 1st one so much.
But I feel like this story suffers from the middle book symptom, as not much seems to happen. Or maybe it just wasn't as interesting to me as the 1st. Though I did really like some of the side characters (Zephyr, Duke, and Jade & Nova), the Stormlord interaction was a little weird, Cassius was given short shrift at the end, and I'm not sure where this is all going. But I've read enough trilogies to know that it could bounce back to be an awesome ending, so I Iook forward to the next.

When I read the first book I was unsure of how the characters would develop in the next book. After reading it, I can honestly say that I am pleased with how Aurora continued on after the events of Roar. It did have a few more moments where the the book slowed down, but I think most seconds books have this in them and I expected it. I appreciated the way Carmack did the involvement of the rebellion and it created some great action moments. I would definitely recommend reading this second book in the series if you loved the first one - it is an unforgettable story that I'm glad I've had the time to get involved with.

AHHH!!! HOLY AMAZEBALLS! I was floored how Rage ended....utterly floored! I mean I wanted it to end the way it did! I wanted Aurora to finally see what I saw and I'm sure many were waiting for. I just want to say to Cora Carmack you did an AMAZING job writing this book, every detail, every character, everyTHING! It was amazing to read. I wish I could say more, but I don't want to give anything away, other than I am obsessed with Cassius Locke and I want him and Aurora together for sure! Call me crazy but I ship them even if it doesn't happen. This book brought a lot of answers that were not answered on the first book, there are so many things that come to light that one would not expect. It was a great read, and I am so fortunate and glad to have won an arc on Cora's birthday giveaway. I'll definitely update my review once the book comes out!

It had been a long time since I'd read Roar, but after skimming it, I found myself immersed in the world of Pavan again. Although the trope and genre are not unique to the Stormheart series, Carmack's writing is appealing -- descriptive, to-the-point, meaningful -- and her characters are endearing, relatable, and likeable. The quasi-love triangle is neither annoying nor overpowering, and Kiran and Cassius are both intriguing and wounded, if not always likeable, love interests. Aurora is still flawed, insecure, yet maturing. She's a keep-rooting-her-on protagonist and I enjoy her interactions with all the characters. The Cruze flashbacks annoyed me at first, but once the Stormlord emerged, I found him frightening. I look forward to more of his story in the next book as well as Cassius' continued growth. Which way will he go? Great series, and I can't wait for the third book!
