Fabulous conclusion to what had been an incredible trilogy.
Glyn Iliffe's Heracles is probably now my favourite version of the mythical Greek hero. The author has added a depth to Heracles that i haven't found anywhere else. He is a hero tormented by his previous actions, even though he was not responsible. He is pursuing the 12 labours to earn redemption for the murder of his children, without realising that he needs to forgive himself as much as he needs the forgiveness of others.
In this final instalment, Hercules must face his toughest tasks yet, including confronting the Amazons and descending to the Underworld itself. Nothing works out exactly as planned, but the veracity of this book is the way the author draws you in and invests you in Heracles's success and survival. Every battle, every setback and every victory - however minor- leaves you exhausted from the effort!
Glyn Iliffe transports you back to ancient Greece, to a time when the divide between man and his was less clearly defined. He rebuilds the world with his stunning landscapes and beautiful imagery. This book - the whole series - is something that should not be missed.

Hero of Olympus by Glyn Iliffe, a satisfying conclusion to a great trilogy. Heracles is finally on his 9th labor but the gods are making them harder and harder, and success is not a certainty. The author has really made the characters come alive and I look forward to seeing what else gets written.

Being a fan of Greek myth I very much enjoyed this book. Not realising that I was jumping in at the conclusion of the series I did still follow the action with no issues, but that may be in part due to my familiarity with the story. As always I love the teachings between the lines of text and certainly there is a lot to learn from Heracles. I did find some descriptions of the battles a bit repetitive and sometimes overly long. For the most part though the author did a fantastic job of painting a vivid picture of heroic deeds in a legendary age.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for this book which came right on the heels of me finishing book 2 so it was perfect timing. I did miss book 1 but it was easy to keep up with the story. I did enjoy these books very much. I know history had already told us the ending but i would have liked to read about Zeus presenting himself to Hercules. I think that was the only thing lacking. This was very well written and I could not put it down once i got started.
