Crashing the A-List is an amusing, quirky read, Clara is down on her luck, having lost her job and apartment. She is sleeping on her brother's couch and cleaning out storage units while desperately trying to find another editing position. She stumbles across sensitive information about a famous actor that leads to both hilarious and cringe worthy situations. The ending was satisfactory. My two favorite characters were CiCi and Charlie. I didn't care for the main antagonist, Caspian, even after he atoned for his behavior. The author had a tendancy to have Clara use British euphemisms that no American would probably utter.

Clara lost her job as book editor and is forced to sleep on her brother’s ugly couch (as we are told over and over) – she gets a job clearing out repossessed storage lockers (most are gross) but stumbles on one that used to belong to a escort service with one escort who is a now famous actor. After leaving a drunken message on his phone Caspian thinks Clara is trying to blackmail him – he turns ups and they end up playing into a fake romance.
Not a bad read. Perfect for the beach or cottage.

10 +++ stars.. OMG I loved this book so very much. The chemistry between Cas and Clara was so hot and the way that they met was so darn funny. I loved the CiCi she was so dang hilarious and an amazing bff. I thought the connection between the main characters was so intense and made me need to finish this is one night. Thank you NetGalley ,Summer -Heacock, and the publishing house for allowing me the chance to read this amazing book. I am about to read it again.

One of my most favorite things to do is to get completely lost in fabulous Hallmark movies and Bravo or E!reality TV. Crashing the A-List was like all of those rolled into one.

The dialogue with sharp and witty. The characters were engaging and deliciously over-the-top.

I’m usually bored by when I read standard romance or rom-com, but this book hooked me from page one. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. The story was just that fun.

After Clara is laid off from her publishing job she takes a temporary job cleaning out rental storage units and accidentally finds documents linking an A-list movie star to an escort service in his younger days. Even though she decides not to do anything shady with the info, when Caspian Tiddleswitch (omg that name!) finds out she has it, he wreaks havoc on her life and career prospects. I absolutely adored the friendship between Clara and her bestie, CiCi! I also liked that the author was careful not to perpetuate stigma against sex workers. Such a fun read!!!

I went into Crashing The A-List hoping for a fun romcom style story, and I was not disappointed. This story is definitely everything a romcom and a beach read should be. Witty and quirky characters, snappy dialogue, problems that aren't too heavy and a dash of fun shenanigans. This is a delightful story that will pick you up and make you smile. I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a sharp yet laughable romance. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This will be a great summer read for the beach! Fun dialogue and quirky characters made reading this really fun. Great chemistry between the characters but not too steamy, which I like.

This one was a little hard to rate, as my feeling about it were all over the place. Crashing the A-List starts off quite rocky in terms of quality. I was pretty annoyed with the characters and writing (does 15% of the book really have to be about how ugly a couch is?). At 20%, however, I started to get really hooked. A certain character was being a fucking asshole, and I wanted to see him get his comeuppance so badly that I couldn't stop reading (I'm easy like that).

Plot-wise, the situations and reasoning behind certain actions did seem a little unrealistic and over-the-top. I think I still enjoyed it in the broader sense overall, but something was a little off for me. I will say though that I did grow to love our main character Clara (CiCi is pretty great too), despite her rough start. Overall, I was moderately satisfied with how the story wrapped up, but felt that certain parts could have also been executed much better.

What a fun diversion. Clara lives in NYC and works in publishing, so we're in familiar territory; she's also slightly foul-mouthed and a tad volatile, and she's been having a hard time of it. She's in an extended period of unemployment, camping out on her brother's couch, and taking comfort in lots of alcohol and her best friend's stellar company. A short-term job cleaning out a storage locker leads to a horrible misunderstanding with--seriously--British actor, and star of Poirot, Caspian Tiddleswich.

You know where this is going. Despite trying to give Clara a slight bit of edge, Heacock doesn't venture beyond PG-rated fanfiction in this fairytale of misunderstandings, unlikely pairings, and family. Particular strengths: an excellent female friendship (though fitting with the escapist nature of the book, the best friend has a trust fund and an extensive wardrobe and excellent makeup artist skills, all of which Clara benefits from). An adorable (and kind to service staff) Caspian, who is exactly what you might hope he would be. (Although by all accounts, the real Ben--I mean, Cas--is a superlative human being.) In a few moments, Cas puts on his villain face and is terribly mean to Clara--while this is explained away (he was operating under false pretenses!), a small piece of you might object, but I've operated under false pretenses and never been such a prat to someone else on purpose! Well, no. This is a legitimate criticism, but if it can be overlooked, and you're a 221B devotee, this should still be your first beach pick of the summer.

Crashing the A-List's heat level is just warm enough to spark your imagination, while still low enough that you could give this book to your mom. Or grandma. Overall, the book is pure escapism and shamelessly beach-worthy.

Clara Montgomery worked as a children's book editor until the publishing house she worked for went under! The publishing house was bought out by an E-retailer! Of all terrible things! She's officially hit rock bottom, she's living at her younger brother's house and sleeping on his uncomfortable couch, and working cleaning out storage units for money. While cleaning out the storage lockers she finds some scandalous paperwork on Caspian Tiddleswich. She and her bestfriend CiCi debate on selling the story but then think better of it, unfortunately for Clara her drunk self calls Caspian's phone and leaves a damning drunken message. Caspian then tracks her down with threats of reporting her to the police. Instead he does some blackmailing of his own: Clara will pretend to be his girlfriend until he leaves New York in two weeks to appease his handlers. Clara reluctantly agrees, as she doesn't want to go to jail, but has to restrain herself from hurting him at every interaction.
I really really enjoy the fake relationship and an enemies to lovers trope and boy did this deliver! There was shenanigans, crazy relatives, sarcastic and witty insults and lovable characters. I really enjoyed CiCi because she was so out there and kind of zany which I know isn't for everyone. Also Clara's inner monologue was amazing and so well written! Once Caspian and Clara get together there's definitely sparks and the laughs definitely come!
I like this read and will have my eye out for more Summer Heacock books in the future as she writes are lively character who are relatable and funny. Also Caspian is most likely based on Tom Hiddleston so that's an added bonus!

Crashing the A-List is a really cute read and I was smiling ear to ear while reading it! Summer Heacock has a wonderful beach read right here and I can imagine it being in everyone's beach bag this summer! I really enjoyed this one and am looking forward to reading more books by the author in the near future.

Quirky and fun, but definitely more of a women's lit (chick lit) book than romance. Would definitely pick up this author again and recommend the book for purchase by my library.

I picked up Crashing The A list Friday night and devoured it within 24 hours - I just got so caught up in Clara's life I simply couldn't put it down!

There are whole hosts of reasons why I love this book but let me share with you the top three:

1. Enemies to In love couple is my absolutely favorite troupe, particularly when it is well done and fully fleshed out. And Caspian and Clara's relationship hit all the right marks for me on this.
2. Clara and CiCi's friendship. It is so refreshing to see a true blue friendship written about. Genuine friends who always have each other's back and are willing to do whatever they can to help each other? Yes, please!
3. Clara - she is the real deal. Honest, hard working, and just a good individual stuck in a crappy situation. I loved that she didn't let it get her down, that she stuck to her convictions, was incredibly quick witted and stood up for herself. Not going to lie - her love of books also endeared her to me.

There are so many other reason why this is a book to add to your TBR pile, including that it is laugh out loud funny in parts. I would highly recommend you think about getting this for your beach/pool reading!

This was a deliciously dishy, silly, fun, sweet story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I read it while at the beach, and that was absolutely the perfect place for it. There are startling moments of clarity and instances of brilliant insight into The Human Condition, particularly our obsession with fame, that I found spot-on relevant to the world in which we all seem to find ourselves these days. It was a fun read, utterly entertaining, and exactly what I needed after a series of very heavy and very dramatic fic books. I'm definitely keeping Heacock on my TBR list!

When I first started reading this book, I wasn’t sure that I was going to like it. The story is told in the first person and as events are happening, and in the past I have found this style bothersome. Not this time though. I quickly moved past it due to the humour in the story.

The heroine Clara Montgomery is a down on her luck editor of young adults books. Her company crashed and with it her job, her apartment and her self esteem. She is forced to move in with her younger brother and his fiancé and sleep on a sofa she calls Gertrude. Clara has a mouth on her and her language can be rather salty at times so if you don’t like swear words you might not enjoy this one. Again, I got past it. With very little money Clara is forced to take a job clearing out storage units that have been defaulted on by their owners, a job which leads to some nasty surprises along the way. Her boss is a crusty gent who may or may not have mob connections! When she finds some potentially damaging material about celebrity actor Caspian Tiddleswitch ( how can you not laugh when the love interest has a name like that?) life starts to get very interesting, very painful and overall very funny. The story has lots of twists and turns and is full of quirky characters like CiCi, a best friend one could only hope to have. One highlight of the story for me was when Clara’s mother paid an unexpected visit to her son’s apartment only to meet Caspian. I don’t want to spoil the story but I can tell you this encounter on it’s own makes the book worth reading. I laughed and laughed and laughed as I read it!

Ultimately this book is a feel-good book. If I was in a bad mood it would quickly turn that around. It moves quickly and is well written and would make a great book for a beach read or plane trip. I would certainly be willing to read more by this author.

While doing this she discovers papers from an escort service and finds the name of a famous British actor, Caspian Tiddlewich, who once worked for the service. Her ethics prevent her from cashing in on the discovery. However, in a drunken moment, she lets him know that she has the information but has no intentions of making it public. Needless to say, he reacts suspiciously and as punishment has her bec0me his fake girlfriend. A totally delightful story told with humor.

A fun read! This book wasn't the best I've ever written but it had a charm to it which made it so fun to read sort of like your favourite soapy reality show you know it's not necessarily the best thing you could watch but it's so engrossing and fun you find yourself coming back to it again and again. The character's and the drama made for the perfect guilty pleasure read!

This was a really fun, fluffy read. It plays out like a typical romance novel, but there's some extra layers to it. It's a lot of fun to read Clara's point of view on how this whole crazy situation plays out and I totally support her in most of the decisions she made. There's some misunderstandings that can be a bit frustrating, but you know they'll figure it out in the end, but what else would you expect when the main character accidentally lets a famous actor know she may or may not blackmail him, haha. I really loved her interactions with swoon-worth Caspian and I'm quite pleased about the end. Definitely a lot of fun for a summer read!

This was such a FUN book to read. It is witty, has enjoyable characters, and I enjoyed the storyline. It was a great escape for a few hours.
