I enjoyed reading Steel Resolve. A very exciting read, a scary plot that kept me on the edge. Fiona is one woman I wouldn't want to meet. Although I did find myself feeling sorry for her. Mary and Chase were great characters and the story that unfolded was very interesting. I loved the ending and l'm looking forward to reading about Hank in the next installment.
I give Steel Resolve 4 stars for its on the edge read.
I would recommend this book to Romance/Fiction fans.

I enjoyed this action-packed homecoming romance.
There's a lot going on in this book, but it's all wrapped around the reunion of Chase and Mary, childhood sweethearts who have been apart for four years. There's plenty of suspense with a little bit of violence, a psychotic killer, a search for a unknown father, a cattle rustling ring and so much more. It's written from a third-person omniscient POV, giving us insights into each character's motivations so there aren't really any surprises along the way.
Through all the drama, Chase and Mary's love story doesn't need much to propel it along. The events that surround their renewed relationship provide plenty to keep the reader on edge and turning pages. There's no question of their feelings for each other, and once the dust settles we get a very satisfying HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I am a sucker for romantic suspense, and for second chances. This book nailed both of those faves for me.
Daniels words are powerful, suspenseful and just flow with such a grace that you feel you are right there in Big Sky along with her characters. And well, Chase being a good ol' cowboy doesn't hurt in the hotness factor either! I was enthralled from page one and was not at all disappointed!

Mary and Chase had been high school sweethearts, but Chase left town years ago. Now after a letter from Mary, Chase has returned to town. What Chase doesn't realize is that he has brought danger, a stalker, to town as well. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a suspenseful second chance romance. I like this book.

B.J. Daniels' most popular book is Crime Scene At Cardwell Ranch, which I read years ago. Dana Cardwell and Hud Savage remain one of my all time favorite couples. I love it when an author revisits her couples and writes about the next generation and that is what we have here, Dana and Hud's daughter, Mary Cardwell Savage, as the heroine. I can tell when an author loves her characters and B.J. Daniels loves these characters, they just leap right off the page. This book is one of the best she has written in a long time with several interwoven plots and a whole lot of suspense.
Mary Cardwell Savage fell in love at 15 and Chase Steele broke her heart. She wrote him a letter, never meaning to send it and now Chase is back in Big Sky, MT and he wants her back. But Chase has brought something with him that could prove deadly to both of them.

Chase Steele has loved one woman. He needed to leave to find himself. He is a hard worker, learning a trade. In the process he has become sought after but he needs to return home. He needs to make promises. Mary Caldwell Savage has measured everyone to Chase and found them lacking. She has her own business to keep herself busy. She has decided to dip her toes back into the dating pool. She couldn't have pick a better time. Chase has returned and the two are in a pissing contest. Trust has been broken and not earned again. In the midst of all that, a stranger has come to town. No one is safe Enjoyable book.

Always love a good cowboy love story... Steel Resolve does not disappoint! One cowboy who felt he was not good enough for the woman he loved.... one woman wishing her cowboy had never left... one jilted "would be girlfriend" in to win over the same cowboy! Would Chase and Mary find their way back to each other, or will Fiona tear them all apart? 4 out of 5 stars

I have read other books by B.J. Daniels and was really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately
it was not what I was expecting. Most of her books are Romantic Suspense, this one didn't seem to have much of either. Mary Cardwell Savage and Chase Steele grew up together, going from friends to lovers to ex's. Chase leaves to help his ill mother, hoping she will tell him who is father is. While in Arizona, he meets a women Lucy, who is friends with his boss who is suppose to be his friend.
What kind of friends would let a drunk man go home with a nut-case. Lucy is admirer like in the movie Fatal Attraction !!! Yet Chase's "friends" tell him nothing... strange
At this same time, Mary has a admirer in her dad's deputy Dillon, who her own father thinks maybe
involved in stealing cattle. And again he tells her nothing and lets her start dating Dillion--What?
While all this is going on, when Mary is feeling low, she writes out her feelings for Chase puts the letter in envelope, address it leave it on table in plain view, and never means to mail it? She is then
shocked when her aunt does. Really come on.
This story has lots going on but we already know all the bad guys and gals. We know Chase and Mary want to get back together, and they are attracted to each other. Yet no real "love" scene takes place, lots of talking and some kissing.
Am sorry but I had a hard time finishing it, no real Romance, no suspense except at the end which was pretty rushed. Does have a happy end and can be read as stand alone.

This is a overly simplistic romance with not much suspense. The story begins with the romance already in the past. It’s more a story about how two people who still love each other but couldn’t make it in the past try to rekindle their relationship. The villains are revealed in the beginning so not only was the romantic part skipped but also the suspense. If the writer had only started with the love story and break up and fast-forwarded to where this book begins, it would have been more enjoyable. Also, yes, Fiona is a crazy stalker but it was way too easy for her to get away with all of her crimes. The minor thread of the cattle rustling was not well fleshed out and could have been left out altogether. Overall, this was not a story for me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Chase Steele receives a letter from the only woman he has ever loved, Mary Caldwell Savage. She just meant to let him know that a woman dropped off a package for Chase with her but started reminiscing about their past. A number of years ago Mary caught Chase kissing another woman and broke up with him. She wouldn't believe him when he told her he didn't initiate the kiss. Then he left Big Sky, Montana and Mary. But he never stopped loving Mary and he's heading back to Big Sky to win back her love for him. Too bad he doesn't realize he is bringing danger along with him.
Steel Resolve by B.J. Daniels is the first book in her latest series, Cardwell Ranch: Montana Legacy. Her readers have visited Big Sky before but now it's time for the next generation. I liked getting to see some familiar characters. Mary is the daughter of Dana Caldwell Savage and Sheriff Hud Savage. I loved Chase Steele. He realized his past mistakes and is ready to make up for them. Mary is an interesting character, a little too angsty but OK. She claims to still love Chase but doesn't trust him. I enjoyed watching Mary and Chase resolve their issues and move on to a HEA. This is a good first in a new series for B.J. Daniels.

Chase returns to Montana to reunite with his first love Mary. I was drawn in from the beginning and eagerly turned page after page enjoying this story til the end. There is lots of action from a corrupt deputy to a delusional stalker.

The story is a predictable Harlequin Suspense romance. The villains are given to readers right away. Motive, reason everything is present with very little question what will happen and how the story will end. When this happens the romance and characters interactions keep readers hooked. The author isn't able to pull that off and the story falls flat.
This story feels as if readers are thrown into the middle of a story. The author fills in the background but instead bring the story up to date is slows down the progression leaving readers not caring what happens to any of the characters.
If the ending is tied up in a bow but readers will already know who, what, where, when and how. Instead of giving something new to readers it ends up filling in pages not needed.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of B.J. Daniels Steel Resolve.
This story lack suspense, lack romance, lacks mystery and lacks characters readers would like. In a nut shell a boring read.l Resolve.

A fast moving story with not one but three main story lines
This is the story of Mary and Chase they where childhood friends and they fell in love but Chase walked away when his mother was dying to go to her hoping she would tell him who his biological father was(story line 1) Now he has returned to his small Montana town but he has brought a stalker with him and this woman is obsessed in the extreme(Story line 2) Meanwhile Mary has a stalker of her own though not as rampant as Chase's (Story line 3) Will he b able to keep Mary safe will he get the answers he wants You will have to read to find out.
This isa fast paced book that takes off quickly and the intrigue and suspense never really stops allow plenty of time because I guarantee you won't want to put it down once you start it

This is the second title I've read by B.J. Daniels and I can't wait for more!
After leaving Big Sky, Montana and the love of his life, Mary Cardwell Savage, behind four years ago, Chase Steele is determined to go back and do whatever it takes to win back the woman he loves. What he doesn't anticipate is the danger of a one night stand and how far she's willing to go to exact her revenge. This story had me hooked from the beginning. The characters were great, the close knit family anyone would want to have.

Sometimes you can go home again
It’s just not always safe…
Mary Cardwell Savage never meant to send that letter to her ex, Chase Steele. How could she know her words would bring the gorgeous cowboy back to Big Sky, Montana—with an unstable and dangerous stalker following close behind? Now Chase wants to prove that their love deserves a second chance. And this time, nothing will keep him from his heart’s desire…not even a killer.
My Thoughts
The Cardwell family saga is one of my favorites in the repertoire that I have had the pleasure of reading written by this particular master of the western romantic suspense author.
This time the story is set with the oldest daughter of Dana and Hud Savage, Mary and her first real love at it’s center.
Years have passed since Chase Steele and Mary Savage were together, their love for each other however never quite managed to die.
When the two reunite in their hometown of Big Sky Montana those feelings once again prove lasting and real as the couple slowly find themselves forming a new relationship.
Unfortunately a person from Chase’s recent past has other ideas and causes as much trouble for he and Mary as possible.
The plot was easy to follow as it was also easy to predict but the renewed romance between Chase and Mary made it worthwhile to read despite that.
I do feel that the finale went entirely too fast and the outcome was a bit rushed but still enjoyed the chance to return to Big Sky once more.
A few familiar and also a variety of new characters with a familiar locale while having the story play out in this romantic suspense, was a fast reading experience.

It's been a while since I have read one of B. J. Daniels books. This one didn't do much for me. It should have been a really good, on the edge of your seat, romantic suspense. It wasn't.
There was no real suspense, because you knew the identity of the villains all along. It was just a matter of time before someone acted. Because of that, it was a waste of time to look in anyone else's direction. It was spelled out in detail who did what to whom and why. It kind of takes the fun out of reading the book, at least for me.
Next, Chase and Mary had been in love forever. I didn't get any real sense of their characters. I didn't feel any connection with them. They had no chemistry. I'm not sure why, but it all seemed very superficial. The story moved along at a steady pace, but I either didn't feel anything at all for the characters, or I was irritated by them.
Mary seemed to be extremely naive for her age. She ignored EVERY alarm bell for both Lucy and Dillion. Luckily Chase and her father, Hud had more sense than she did.
Also, what kind of friends were Chase's boss Rick and his wife Patty to KNOWINGLY let him leave with a CRAZY person when he was DRUNK???? They knew she was unbalanced and didn't tell him until it was too late.
There were so many off shoots to this story. Chase and Fiona, Chase and Mary, Mary and Dillion, Mary and Lucy, cattle rustling, crooked cops, crazy stalkers, mystery of Chase's mother wouldn't tell, etc.
I was looking forward to reading this book. I really wanted to like it. I ended up just wanting it to be over.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from the publisher via NetGalley.

Another book in the Cardwell Ranch series, and what an awesome addition it is! I loved revisiting Hud and Dana, and their daughter Mary who is one of the main characters in this book. Mary and Chase, childhood sweethearts, have some obstacles to overcome before they can be together. There are a couple of mysteries woven into their story, I hope we get to hear more about one of them in future books.

Steel Resolve is a perfectly fine story, with perfectly fine writing. The mystery has a good set up, the romance has a good set up, and generally it was promising. Unfortunately, you find out the main threat’s identity literally on the very first page. As the book developed, I understood why knowing the villain was necessary, but it wasn’t necessary to literally start the book like that when the reveal would have had much better impact by waiting even 30 pages. There is also a secondary threat whose identity is also told to the reader much earlier than it had to be. I think it just kind of ruined the tension that was supposed to be building. I did like the last climactic scene though.
My biggest complaint about this book was the treatment of Mary, the main female character. First of all, she has no personality or flaws. She’s just a pretty, feminine, non-aggressive, family oriented lady, and she’s treated like property by Chase Steele (the main male character) and the other man she is seeing. Chase continually tells her that he’s going to win her back no matter what, that she doesn’t have a choice in their inevitability, that she belongs to him and he’s not going to let her go. In some contexts, this could be romantic, but in this book it just read as creepy and aggressive. Not to mention that the romance itself left something to be desired since it felt like it developed really slowly given that this is supposed to be a romance novel.
So, this book is average at best and not very good to women at worst. Not my favorite.

Chase Steel made the biggest mistake of his life when he moved to Arizona, leaving his love in Big Sky, Montana. When he receives a letter from his love, Mary, he realizes that he needs to go home…to Montana and Mary. The woman he briefly met in Arizona, Fiona, is not happy that he is leaving and returning to Mary. She makes it clear that she will do what is necessary for Chase to be hers. Trouble starts when Chase is delayed due to vandalism to his truck. Was Fiona involved in the vandalism? Surely, she would not be that vindictive. Chase will do all that he can to prove to Mary that he loves her and they belong together. How could he know by returning home, that a crazed stalker would follow him, bringing harm to those he loves. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. This is a story of second chance romance with some suspense thrown in. I enjoyed the characters and it moved at a fast pace. This would make a great beach read.
Many thanks to Harlequin and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
