This title is a good edition to a library that may be interested in starting a dungeons and dragons group. There’s a variety of one shot adventures for players who are new to more experienced. Also a good title to have for libraries growing their collections of table top RPG instructional materials.

Liked this so much that after receiving the e-book galley I went and bought it in paper and convinced my dungeon master to do the same so we could play it.

This was an incredibly fun read about gaming. It was unique and had me hooked from the beginning. I love all the adventures in this book. I love reading or doing anything involving gaming and this book was right up my alley.

This was amazing! Each of the adventures is filled with exciting fights and funny stories. The book contains amazingly illustrated comics plus maps to accompany each module. It is a unique and great collection. As a D&D player, I found this like to be awesome and enjoyed it!

One afternoon I was browing NetGalley and Rolled & Told jumped out at me. II’ve played DND before so I wanted to see how these ready-to-play adventures would work in a graphic novel format.

Even though the synopsis is very helpful I still wasn’t 100% on what I’d see inside. I guess I thought it would be a lot more readable for casual DND players, but it really is 11 playable adventures.

To help ease up any confusion here is a lovely summary to what you’ll find inside.

Each story starts off with a lovely art page, a summary of what you need to complete the adventure, and character levels it’s aimed for.

This is handy as you can see straight away whether you’ll need to create new characters, or perhaps skip the adventure until you’re more equipped to handle it.
Ready? Let’s begin

You’re then introduced to the story; a little summary to make sure you’re interested and how the GM would start off the story. There’s information on what to expect in each room, what the players will have to do should traps are activated and how to beat them.

The same goes should there be any monsters adventurers would have to fight, with a complete info box on the monsters statistics.

When the adventure ends the book also provides information on how to end it, the rewards they’ve aquired, and loot.

As a non-DND player or GM, at least currently,my favourite element of this book was the illustrations. Throughout every adventure had illustrations accompany them to portray players on the quest.

It always follows the same team of players which adds such a beautiful collection of art. I adored seeing how each illustrator viewed the characters.

So, this wasn’t the book for me. I loved skimming through it but ultimately I didn’t have the desire to read every page. That’s totally okay because I am not the target audience, having a disconnect to it was anticipated.

If you’re looking for new games to play with your DND group, or need inspiration for story-writing as a GM this is 100% the book for you.

A wonderfully creative combo of ready-to-play DnD adventures and fun comics rolled into one (pun intended)!

As a fan of DnD games, but someone who struggles to build full, expansive gameplay, this book bridged the gap between the technical details needed to lead your own adventure and the easy-to-replicate storytelling component needed for good gameplay.

This is a great book for new and old Game Masters alike. Plus, it's a comic!!! What more could you ask for? It's great!

'Rolled and Told Vol. 1' from Lion Forge collects issues #0-6. This is a unique monthly magazine featuring a roleplaying adventure, comics and an article.

Included are 11 adventures, from a dungeon run under a bar for training and honor to a wizarding school where the students have gone missing in a portal. All the modules have difficulty levels as well as ways to modify them. There are stat charts for new characters and maps for the modules and fun drawings and comics. The back half of the book has some great articles about setting the tone and making yourself a better GM.

You will still need a core D&D rule set for much of this, but the adventures included seem like a lot of fun. The articles are thoughtful and the whole thing reminds me of all the fun I had with friends rolling dice. I really liked this book.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Lion Forge, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

A fun and unique collection of inspiration for gamers and Game Masters alike. If nothing else, the colorful and whimsical art style makes this stand out from the other dark and muted GM guides.

I'm very new to the D&D scene, with podcasts such as Hit&Crit it, and Shadow Over California being my main reason of being attracted to them, but I so much feel in love with this book and their one shots stories in the world.
I couldn't help but end up enjoying it even not being very much knowable. The art, the plots, all just amazing!

An excellent collection of ready-made one-shot adventures for new Dungeon/Game Masters! This is particularly attractive to me, as I thoroughly enjoy shows like Critical Role and have a fairly solid grasp of the 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons rules, but am completely overwhelmed as far as actual worldbuilding and lore creation. There are all types of stories, starting with a traditional dungeon delve (with a twist) as promoted in their Issue 0 published in July 2018. Again, this is not a campaign guide, or a comic book, but a bunch of creative ideas and commentary to further enhance your own home game.

A solid game guide spiced up with a few illustrated moments. Just don't expect it to read like a narrative.

Rolled and Told is a compilation of short adventures that first appeared in individual issues of Lion Forge's magazine of the same name. The adventures are written for the 5th edition of D & D for lower level characters (1-3 or 4-6) providing the setting, layout, NPCs, maps, and illustrations that can be used to provide atmosphere for the adventure. If you are looking for stand-alone adventures, you could do a whole lot worse then picking up this collection.

This was billed as a comic, but it's really a collection of fantasy role playing adventures that may have an illustrated page with the adventure.. That being said, it's a great, well thought out collection of adventures that any Dungeon Master could easily incorporate into their role playing games.

It is always daunting going into running an rpg campaign. This book is a series of campaigns that are ready to run and have fun with. It is great for anyone that is interested in giving it a go without the stress of creating your own story.

Manna for heaven for D&D players, with the kind of content you'd expect from White Dwarf or any such other publication – maps and plots for copious wacky scenarios, articles, and so on. A lot of the artwork was a little too cartoonish for my taste, but hey – that's all part of the fun.

I grew up with every issue of Dragon magazine on my parent's bookshelves - and even issues of Dungeon - that I would spend hours pouring over and reading. My dad was a Dungeon Master, but I adored reading up on stuff as a kid, filing away all the information and hoping to great my own campaigns. The magazine ended its print run in 2013 however, and from there switched to mostly digital. But Rolled and Told has taken up some of the spirit of roleplay magazine style, infused with awesome comic illustrations, a variety of articles and campaigns, and fun ideas to help a new generation of gamers and dungeon masters. I'm definitely going to pick this up - the ideas are fantastic and fun, they inspire me to try new things, and I'm sure I'll be able to rope my friends into some of the campaigns found here. I think some people are confused by this being listed as a graphic novel, since it's not a singular graphic story, but instead comic illustrations of campaigns. That aside, I don't want people to miss this book! Hopefully it will inspire new gamers and old hands alike.

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*
As a full disclaimer, I picked this one up thinking it was going to be a comic following a group playing D&D. I don't actually play the game, but have learned enough to somewhat make conversation with people at work who do--I feel like most Youth Librarians need to know the bare basics. Anyhow, I've learned [once again] not to request things off Netgalley when I'm tired.

That being said, I'm not the best person to review this material.
I will say the images, maps, and little strips that go along with the adventures are cute and lovely. The adventure themselves seem to be a good variety: different levels of time duration, severity, and setting.

There are also articles, which I read more in depth than the adventures, which I loved. Again, they deal with a variety of topics. I loved the one about featuring romance in the game and very much appreciated the sections regarding fridging the love interest and not gamifying relationships or making them a reward.

While I'm not a player or expert, this is still something I'll be considering buying for my YA collection and recommending to people thinking about being GMs.

This collection of campaigns was a delightful light-hearted fun reminiscent of The Adventure Zone and that type of humour. It was well presented and easy to follow, great for gathering friends around to play even for the first time DM. I thought it was beautifully formatted and stunning presentation. This just makes me itch to get my dice out and DM some games.
