Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish is everything you'd want in a Regency/historical novel. It incorporates the joy of the season along with a snowstorm, an abandoned baby and more than just a kiss under the mistletoe!

When Lady Sophie decides to take some time for herself, she never thought she'd get stranded in London during a snow storm. In comes Vim Charpentier to help Lady Sophie in her time of need. Not only is he handsome, he has some issues that need resolved and it seems that Lady Sophie is the only one that can help. After some steamy interactions, his feelings for her deepens, after that mayhem ensues when her brothers come for her, it causes issues for not just him, but for Sophie herself.

The passion, festivity, playfulness and charm of this book makes it stand out from others and I highly recommend it.

Lady Sophie Windham is the sensible one of her siblings, the one that they all rely on, However, before all the family Christmas festivities commence Sophie wants a few days to herself, absent of the lovingly applied pressure from her family to be the rock steady member. However, she didn’t expect to be snowed in, looking after an infant with the assistance of a very handsome and kind stranger. But, how well will her handsome helpmate feel when he realizes she isn’t just Sophie, but Lady Sophie Windham, daughter of a powerful duke? However, Sophie isn’t the only one with a secret.

Snowed in at Christmas? Is there anything more cliché during the festive season? Maybe not, but that doesn’t stop me from loving it. Especially when in the artful hands of Grace Burrowes. I’m not normally a fan of Christmas books, they seem to overly idealise the holiday, but this book was such a comforting and warm read, it was inevitable that I would fall in love with it.

Like most Burrowes’ book this isn’t a firework of passion, but rather a slower build as their relationship develops. And, as the romance develops between Vim and Sophie there’s also another character they’re both falling in love with: Kit, the orphaned baby they are both caring for. The whole thing was adorable and moving, as Sophie is convinced that she won’t be able to keep either Kit or Vim, due to their apparent class disparity.

This book had a very strong theme of family. We have Sophie, Vim and Kit forming their own little found family as well as chapters from Sophie’s brothers and parents as they worry over her. I loved seeing the interplay between the Windham brothers, and their clear regard for their sister was lovely; perfect for a holiday themed book.

This was a book showing two very nice people falling in love with one another during the festive season. With the added cuteness of baby Kit, it was a heart-warming read. So, although it felt a little flabby once they leave their snow bound situation, it’s still a great holiday read, and one of my favourites so far from Grace Burrowes

4.5*

I loved this book! I’ve always really enjoyed Christmas/Holidays related books, and this one hit all the right spots.

Sophie is the sensible sister. She doesn’t give problems to anyone. So, when she decides to spend some time at Christmas with friends, her family doesn’t worry. But Sophie has a plan. She wants to spend some of her Christmas alone. But her plans get sidetracked when she is left stranded with someone else’s baby.

Queue Vim, our hero. I’ll admit right away, I love babies. I find them adorable, and I love holding them. And whenever I see someone who is good with a baby, I just feel happy. And Vim, well, he’s perfect with young Kit. How he helps Sophie without ever mocking her, or making feel like she’s doing something wrong, it’s just perfect.

I really enjoyed the relationship between both the hero and the heroine, and them with Kit. It was adorable, with our characters stuck due to a snow storm, learning about each other, and relating in a way they couldn’t with other people. Sometimes it’s just easier to talk to a stranger than someone who’s known you forever, right?

I also really liked hoe Sophie’s brothers didn’t try to decide for her, or just beat Vim. They understood that they were in love, but apparently there was some form of impediment, so they decided to do what they could to help them. Great brothers!

All in all, a great romance, with some steamy moments, very romantic, very adorable, and it just made me very happy.

Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish by Grace Burrowes will warm even the coldest of hearts in winter! This novel is enticingly romantic. Sophie and Vim have a chemistry that just bounces off the pages and that, as a reader, is exactly what I expect and want. A great book that I recommend to all readers of the romance genre.

What is the Lady’s Wish?

What a fun and different Christmas Regency romance! I don't get to say that often. I love the parts of this book written from the hero’s point of view. He has a sarcastic (sometimes sardonic) and dry wit that shines through. And the poor abandoned baby, Kit! The author actually made him into an important character, often working as a catalyst between the hero and heroine in a very endearing way. I think it takes some skill as a writer to be able to make an infant such a well-rounded individual and a key element to the story. The hero and the heroine are waylaid because of a storm. They are strangers to each other, but the hero certainly has some mad skills with babies, especially compared to the heroine. His desire to help the lovely lady and abandoned baby is certainly sweet. Neither is telling the other who they truly are, but they're forced time together certainly reveals other aspects of their characters. A delightful holiday Regency read.

The overall plot took a bit to get into, but once you're in, you're hooked! The chemistry between the two main characters jumped off the page and kept me engaged the entire time. I have not read any other book in this series or buy this author, but I'm definitely intrigued to read further into this author's backlist.

Such a fantastic read! A wonderfully sexy and endearing story between Sophie and Vim. Reading their road to rekindling their love was a story I would visit again.

A super enjoyable romance by Grace Burrowes. It may take place at Christmas but you can really read it any time of year, it will still give you the warm fuzzies. The characters' growing love for another felt real. They become trapped in a snow storm together and have to figure out how to care for themselves and a baby. However, once the snow clears away the plot does become a little weak and the conflict feels forced. A delightful read but don't expect too much from it.

Delightful historical holiday romance. The characters are complex and compelling. While the plot is somewhat predictable, as are most holiday romances, it in no way detracts from the enjoyment of the book. Grace Burrowes is a wonderful storyteller.

This is a well-written story that will pull at your heart strings and leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy. I loved this book. The characters were interesting and very likable. The story had a blend of drama, romance and humor that I really enjoyed. I would recommend this book.

Just the thing for the season. An enjoyable read with an engaging heroine and a genuinely good hero. It's rare to find a child featured in historical romance novels, perhaps because it might seem to detract from the requisite 'steaminess' that sells these stories. However, that's not the case with this novel. Little Kit adds some humour to the story and a lovely parallel with the reason for Christmas itself.
I read this over a couple of days and it brought a smile to my face.

Lady Sophia Windham is feeling blue this holiday season and would really like to avoid all the forced gaiety of family gatherings. So, she contrives to get some alone time in her family's London home (unchaperoned time is hard to come by for a proper, unwed woman of her station). But, instead of getting quiet time to herself, she finds herself snowed in with an abandoned infant and a sexy traveler, Vim Charpentier, and she doesn't know what to do about either of them. Both seem determined to find their way into her heart and her life.

I thoroughly enjoy Grace Burrowes and especially the Windham family series. She does an irresistible nobleman very well. The falling in love part of the story (which was a delightful first 2/3 of the book) was wonderfully done. The forced proximity created by the blizzard made the tension between the lead characters tantalizing and had me hollering for them to get together already! Their inability to figure out that they both wanted to be together for more than a few days seemed a bit unbelievable - I felt like the miscommunications or emotional issues that were supposed barriers weren't adequately developed. However, overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it as a by the fire read this winter.

A delectable interlude. Sophie and Vim are lovable characters you just want to cheer for. Some of the plot points are distracting (it defies belief that a man with his travel background in this particular era should know more about infant care than a woman of similar station) and the big twist seems a bit contrived. But in the balance I enjoyed this story and anticipate reading it again in the future. Thanks for this advance copy, this review is my humble opinion.

Lady Sophie Windham has maneuvered a few days to herself at the ducal mansion in London before she must join her family for Christmas in Kent. Suddenly trapped in Town by a snowstorm, she finds herself with an abandoned baby and only the assistance of a kind, handsome stranger standing between her and complete disaster. With his estate in chaos, Vim Charpentier expected complications this holiday season, but he couldn't have predicted that Sophie Windham would be among them. His growing attraction for Sophie is the only thing that warms his spirits. But Sophie's been keeping secrets, and it will take more than a kiss under the mistletoe to make her wishes come true.
This was a decent read. I enjoyed it enough but I felt that the author threw some things in there that didn’t belong just for the sake of plot.

I loved this book!! This is the second book I read from this author and loved! Historical Fiction is my favorite genre and this book is one reason why!!

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

What a fun holiday romance as Sophie and Vim meet and she wants a few days of pleasure and Vim wishes that Sophie was not a commoner so that he could have a relationship with her. When he finds out that she is Lady Sophie, he proposes to her but she thinks he is only proposing since she is a lady. Poor Sophie wants a love like her parents and won't settle for less.

I loved that Vim finds out things were not what they seemed in the past and is able to clear up some misconceptions and Sophie realizes that she can have a love like her parents.

The path to the HEA takes a while for them to work things out but well worth it!

This is a cute Christmas romance with a fun heroine and an unusual concept: two characters fall in love while caring for an abandoned baby. The baby features very heavily, especially in the first half, so if you aren't interested in a lot of description of the behaviour of infants, and plenty of baby talk from our hero and heroine, then this may not be the book for you, but the story does eventually come to focus more on the romance. The baby is a good way to show the caring side of both the main characters, and allows them to interact with their guards down. It's a very gentle read, and though I did think that it was overly long (the conflict leading to the happy ending is blown far out of proportion; it's really a very minor thing that takes far too long to resolve), it was a sweet and enjoyable read.
