I usually enjoy this author but this book was a hard stretch for me and I couldn’t get into it. For me, it was disappointing. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC!

My favorite type of 'unusual'Christmas Regency romance!

This is probably my fourth or so reading about Lady Sophie and Vim Charpentier and it still delights and gives me the warm fuzzies. I adore Sophie and Vim!
Both of these people are endearing, loveable and different. Lady Sophie Windham has found herself in possession of a few stolen days in the family mansion, by herself! A pleasure she's determined to take advantage of. Vim Charpentier is passing through London enroute to discovering conditions on his estates. He's received urgent missives from both his Uncle and Aunt.
But fate intervenes and Vim and Sophie find themselves trapped in London by the winter storm and circumstances. The inclusion of an unlooked for baby as the piece that holds these two together is enchanting.
The 'rescue' scene and resultant journey with Sophie's brothers is humorously adorable, especially as these hulking brothers try to overwhelm Vim! They are so protective of their sister. (A tad late is all I can say!)
Grace Burrowes is one of my top historical romance writers and her Duke's Daughters series, including Lady Sophie, is right up there.
Pleasurable at the first read, this wonderful Christmas romance never disappoints.

I've been a fan of Grace Borrows and her Windham family novels for quite some time now. Sophie has been a favorite character since she appeared in The Soldier (I'm pretty sure that's where I read about her first) to her appearances in her other brothers books. Sophie's is a story I've been waiting for and boy was it worth the wait! Not only does she get a fabulous story, Ms. Burrows gives her a Christmas romance....if that isn't enough to grab you add in a sweet baby and a hot, hunky man who knows his way around an infant! Just keeps getting better, right? It really does. Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish is the best Christmas romance I've read so far this year. The storyline was plotted perfectly so that it flowed seamlessly from one scene to another. The witty banter, which I've come to expect from Ms. Borrows, between the Windham siblings, is so on point you'll find yourself laughing out loud. Every character, even the secondary ones, are given a depth that not many authors give - there are no 'throw in just for the sake of adding word's' characters.
Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish is all about love, Christmas and happily ever after. There is a sweetness to the hero Vim and his connection to the baby, Kit, from the very first page. The scenes with Vim and Kit are some of my favorite in the book. It was a nice change to see such an alpha male character written this way. It was quite sexy to be totally honest.
I'd recommend Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish to anyone who enjoys a well written, witty Christmas story with a cast of characters that will have you laughing and sighing happily from the first page to the very last.

Lady Sophie Windham has manoeuvred a few days to herself at the ducal mansion in London before she must join her family for Christmas in Kent. Suddenly trapped by a London snowstorm, she finds herself with an abandoned baby and only the assistance of a kind, handsome stranger standing between her and complete disaster. With his estate in ruins, Vim Charpentier sees little to feel festive about this Christmas. His growing attraction for Sophie Windham is the only thing that warms his spirits-but when Sophie's brothers whisk her away, Vim's most painful holiday memories are reawakened.
This is a re-release from 2011. Another well written page turning book, I love the Windhams, Sophie is on the shelf after a decade of seasons & is resigned to the fact. She has no idea what to do with baby Kit but luckily Vim is on hand to help. I love the interplay between Sophie, Vim & her brothers. I loved both Sophie & Vim , they were made for each other. My only quibble was the historical inaccuracies & the use of non English regency names
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Lady Sophie’s Christmas Wish by Grace Burrows is a reprint of her 2011 book of the same name. It is the first book the the series The Windhams: The Duke’s Daughters and it takes place after The Windhams: The Duke’s Obsession Series books 1-3. It can be read as a standalone. I had read this book many years ago and was pleased to find out that it has lost none of it’s lustre over time, it’s a delightful Christmas themed Romance Novel and one I enjoyed reading this time as much as I did the first. Lady Sophie Windham is at a crossroads in her life and she has schemed to find a little time to be by herself just before Christmas ,something that as a member of a large family she doesn’t often experience. Things get upended when she is left with a baby she has no idea how to care for. Wilhelm (Vim) Charpentier, Baron Sindal is on his way to a family Christmas with great reluctance, so he is delighted to have the excuse to help the pretty woman and baby as he has much experience with young children as a fond older brother. Of course their stolen moments must come to and end and as they return to their families a few surprised are in store and maybe wishes do come true. All she wants is a little peace...
But Sophie's holiday is about to heat up...
Lady Sophie Windham has maneuvered a few days to herself at the ducal mansion in London before she must join her family for Christmas in Kent.
His estate is in chaos so Vim Charpentier expected complications this holiday season, but he couldn't have predicted that Sophie Windham would be among them.
His growing attraction for Sophie is the only thing that warms his spirits. In the back of his mind he knows that the Windham name is familiar to him but the fact that Sophie is a Duke's daughter never entered his mind
Suddenly trapped in Town by a snowstorm, Sophie finds herself with an abandoned baby and only the assistance of a kind, handsome stranger standing between her and complete disaster.
Combine a Lady who is pretending she's not one, a gentleman who feels more than a slight attraction to her and an abandoned baby and you have a wonderfully delightful holiday romance that starts out with a bang.
This book was previously released in October 4, 2011 and later as part of Christmas Ladies: 3 Full-Length Holiday Regencies (Windham Series Book 0) in November of 2014 and is now being re-released as a separate title.
I love Grace Burrowes Windham titles this one not withstanding.
Although this is a re-release I had not previously read this delightful Christmas romance.
I loved this page turner of holiday joy and tears and highly recommend the read.
I gave this book a solid rating of 4.5 of 5.0 stars. There is some heat but the scenes aren't so explicit as to turn off a reader who prefers a closed door experience.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I enjoyed this m/f historical Christmas romance from Grace Burrowes. I did not read the original 2011 publication so I cannot comment on what, if anything, has changed in the story. Vim and Sophie unexpectedly are thrown together with an abandoned baby, due to a snowstorm. Neither knows the other's true identity - why would the daughter of a Duke be all alone and know her way around a kitchen? Why would the heir to a baronetcy be traveling alone at Christmas? None of this is discovered until after they've fallen in love. Then each has to reconcile the truth and decide what love is worth. I enjoyed the slow burn romance between Sophie and Vim. The side characters are all fun and add a lot of humor to this stuck in the snow at Christmas romance. I enjoyed it. Fans of Grace Burrowes who haven't read it yet, should pick it up.

Publisher needs to clearly identify this as originally published in 2011 and note whether the story has been updated or not. I would not have known had I not read the copyright page.

Lady Sophia Windham has managed to arrange a few days to herself in London before joining her family at the ducal estate in Kent for the Christmas holidays. But her relaxation is lost when she finds herself snowed in with an abandoned baby and only an inconveniently handsome stranger to help her subvert disaster.

Vim Charpentier didn't expect a relaxing holiday with his estate in apparent shambles, but he certainly didn't expect a society miss or a baby to further complicate matters. Sophie is enjoying the anonymity of disregarding her title for the time being, but since she's keeping secrets, and so is Vim, the impermanence of their domestic bliss rapidly becomes apparent. When Sophie's brothers arrive to fetch her to the family seat for Christmas, both she and Vim have a lot of explaining to do.

First off, I enjoyed this story and it's Christmas coziness. I loved Vim for the most part. He was fabulously sweet, even if he was entirely too determined to hold on to an old grudge that was rather over-dramatized. Sophie was likable in the beginning when she was being blunt in her interactions with Vim (apart from not telling him who she really was) and it was rather unbelievable for me that such a strong, capable character would let all that fly out the window the second her family arrived on scene and be quite content to just let the happiness she finally found slip through her fingers. Luckily Vim was more determined, even if she didn't want to hear him out and cut him off repeatedly in his explanations. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well, though I must say they had a rather strange family dynamic. I felt like there was too much time spent on Sophie's falling in love with the baby, rather than with Vim and that made the pacing feel off and slow for me, especially with the drawn out misunderstandings near the end.

Critiques aside, this was an enjoyable read and I'll probably get around to the rest of the series at some point.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was the sweetest book! Sophie and Vin are an unexpected match. They meet at a coaching inn where she is holding a maid’s fretting baby and he is looking for passage home. Vin offers assistance to Sophie with the baby and their relationship begins.
I caught myself smiling more times than I can count while reading! The tenderness displayed by Vin in taking care of the baby; and Sophie learning all about it while cooking and cleaning. They both get their Christmas wish but not without some heartache along the way!

What a fabulous book. I do not re-tell a story especially a story that was so well written. This book is a true Christmas book filled with family and when families involved emotion is involved. Our main male character has held onto an old stupid grudge. And don’t we all know someone like that? Our main female character has always been the rescue Ranger. But through many miscommunications. They Trudge along. Get your handkerchiefs out for this one you are going to need Them. And the romantic, sexual sensual side of the characters is to drool over. I cannot tell you what a fabulous book this is. You must read it

Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish gets a solid 3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed the 'snowed in' section of the book, the plot about a left-behind baby, and both Sophie and Vim stepping up to fulfill their dreams.

At times, I found the story a bit drawn out especially with the side characters (which you might likely enjoy more if you'd read the previous books in the series), and the conflict on his side a bit too exaggerated.

However, this is overall still a good Christmas story and I'd likely read more of Grace Burrowes' books.

Please be aware that this is a re-issued version of a previously released book.

P.S. I've been granted a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for a review. My above comments about the book are solely based on my own opinion.

Grace Burrowes is a reliable consistent writer, and her books are always enjoyable to read. I did enjoy this book a lot because of the characters.

Lady Sophie is 27ish and a sensible sibling in a large family of 10 brothers and sisters. Her parents have retired to their country estate for Christmas and she has implied that she wants to spend the holiday with their friends in town. She has actually decided to stay home alone, as she is feeling lonely and unsatisfied with her life.

It is a snowy afternoon at a staging post in London, and Vim ( Baron Wilhelm Charpentier)is returning from his travels to visit his aunt and uncle, as he has had unsettling reports of thefts of property from the estate he is due to inherit eventually. He has a very conflicted relationship with the estate and hasn’t been back much for many years. He is stranded by the weather at the inn, and happens upon Sophie who is struggling with a housemaids baby. The housemaid has just got on the post stage, and quite literally has left the unmarried Lady Sophie holding the baby. Vim takes pity on Sophie and shows her how to care for the baby.

Vim ends up staying at Sophie’s home to help her with the baby until the roads improve. However her dress and her practical demeanour and facility in the kitchen make him think she is an upper servant. They really bond over the baby and these scenes are charming and lovely to read. Vim would like to marry her, but isn’t sure that she would accept because of their different stations.

When Sophie is revealed as the daughter of a Duke, and her 3 protective brothers appear, how will they explain away Vims presence, and how will Sophie, an unmarried woman be able to keep My Lord baby?

The romance was sweet and enjoyable to read, although the conflict seemed a little contrived for both of them, especially Vims humiliation as a young man, this made the second half of the book a little tiresome, as I wanted them to belt up and get to their HEA a bit quicker.

I also feel that Grace Burrowes writes American style romances of regular folk ( which I also love), in an aristocratic regency setting in England. Her heroes and heroines are always domesticated, and able to cook or bake, deal with the care and feeding of infants and so forth, when usually in aristocratic families these tasks were delegated to domestic staff. There are also a lot of ‘creme’ cakes rather than cream cakes, and the overall feel is not classic regency. They are fun to read though.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

Kit is Adorable and he really made it easy to connect with the H/h. I love when authors add children to their books. This was an enjoyable relaxing read with great interesting characters who were easy to like and connect with.

This book was a littles slow for me but at the same time I was very interested in the story and I didn't want to put the book down until I was done reading it.

Sophie gives one of her maids and her baby a ride to a posting inn where the maid leaves her with her 6 month old son. Before Sophie realizes the baby is abandoned to her Vim offers to help her settle the babe and informs her he saw the mother duck out and is probably not coming back. Sophie has only every cared for abandoned animals and has no idea what to do so Vim again offers to help her. I love a man who is willing to love a child no matter whose it is.

I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Y'all, "Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish" let me tell you-
👶
Brace your ovaries!!
👶
This book is ovary sabotage in form of a hot baby-holding Hero who stands up to our Heroines protective brothers with holiday cheer sprinkled over whit and passion. Sounds delicious? Oh, it was.
👶
So basically, our story takes place a few weeks before Christmas. The timing is great because we get the Christmas spirit but it's not yet overkill in the mistletoe hunting and puddin' eatin' a lot of Christmas novels bury you under.
👶
Our H/H are stranded strangers taking care of an abandoned baby and falling in love with him and each other over his dirty diapers and drool during a blizzard. There is a bit of the ole hidden identity plot that works to add flavor to our story. Plus the meddling brothers I mentioned earlier. They are fun. A lot of maternal feels in this one. Good if you love babies. Maybe stay away if you don't love babies (also, weirdo?).
👶
So, imagine the hottest guy holding a puppy in one of those books you look at at Barnes & Nobel but don't actually buy. Now replace the puppy with a baby. Add some smoldering looks and clever conversation. That's Vim, our hero. He teaches My Lord Baby which swear words are appropriate to begin with and promises ponies to the baby if he sleeps.
👶
Lady Sophie is fine. I liked her enough to not be aggravated with her and agree with her decisions, but I didn't love her. She was a little typical for me. Wants to be independent, won't settle for being a mistress, is advanced for her time period, strong and not overly emotional. You get it. But we do like her.
👶
For all my bragging about my decade of romance reading, this is my first Grace Burrowes novel. I'll be rectifying that ra'now!
👶
Alrighty, they've kissed, I'm scheming how to get my own My Lord Baby #3 outta the hubs, and I've told you about it!
👶

This is a republishing of one of Burrowes' earlier Windham Series books. I enjoyed my initial reading a few years ago and enjoyed it equally so this time around. I did not, however, initially know that this was a reprint, so Buyer Beware, this is the same wonderful book as before.

This was a light; fun Regency read. It was a little predictable but I need that occasionally. I .loved the impact that the baby had on the story as it made everything more charming.

A terrible snow storm and an abandoned baby introduces Vim Carpentier to Lady Sophie. Vim knows about babies from his sisters, Sophie doesn't have a clue. So what does a gentleman do but escort her to her home and help her take care of a baby. As all three grow closer, old hurts and insecurities make it hard to talk about love. When Sophie's three brothers get involved the two lovers don't stand a chance. Most of all will Sophie get her wishes? Wow, and amazing book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley. I absolutely adore all of Grace Burrowes' work and she didn't disappoint. She has such a beautiful way of incorporating her characters and readers that we feel we are right there experiencing every emotion and all the ups and downs. Wonderfully described characters.... love the Wyndham family! Great work!

This is a reissue of an earlier work. Burrowes characters are well developed and the story is well done. The pacing is a bit slow, but the story is worth the perseverance.
