A Merciful Promise the sixth and last book in the Mercy Kirkpatrick series is a rollercoaster of a ride with Mercy placed in heart pounding danger. She is asked help infiltrate a group of militia in an isolated forest community. She is unable to tell her fiancé Police Chief Truman Daly anything about her mission.
Truman is kept busy with 3 bodies found in various locations in his county. Meanwhile Mercy is having an extremely difficult time with the militia, they are suspicious and their leader is a cruel hard man handing out terrible punishments for any infringements of his rules.
As things go from bad to worse for Mercy, with no means of escape or ability to communicate with the outside world it looks as if it’s the end for her.
A great story with hold your breath moments, the relationship between Mercy and Truman remains steadfast and beautiful. I was so saddened that this was to be the end, but what a wonderful and fitting end it was.
My grateful thanks to net galley and publisher Montlake for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

A Merciful Promise is the sixth and final installment to the Mercy Kilpatrick series. The Bend FBI office is approached by the ATF for assistance with an assignment - they have an agent in deep cover with a radical militia and he's obtained permission to bring in his girlfriend. Unfortunately, the ATF agent who was supposed to join him has shingles - and the ATF wants Mercy as a replacement. They are investigating the group as possibly being behind a hijacking of a weapons transfer in which two of their agents died and there is some suggestion that the group may be planning a terrorist attack. The ATF insists it has to be Mercy - she looks enough like the ATF agent to pull it off and has the background to pull off the assignment on short notice. The mission is deep cover and the militia doesn't allow phones, so Mercy has to agree to be off the grid for up to several weeks.

Meanwhile, Eagles Nest Police Chief - and Mercy's fiance - Truman Daly is investigating a series of body dumps in the area. The case involves several men being murdered with execution style gunshots to the head; then men are then stripped to boxer shorts and dumped.

In her undercover assignment, Mercy finds herself in a worrisome situation - the militia is run by a violent and charismatic leader who only trusts a small inner circle and doesn't hesitate to use barbaric, cruel methods of punishment to gain compliance from the members of the group. With no way out of the remote compound and no means of communication, the assignment is increasingly dangerous.

I absolutely flew through this book. I was captivated from the first page to the end and read it in a matter of hours. While this is the sixth installment of this series, it could be read as a standalone novel although then you would be depriving yourself of five other very enjoyable books.

I am sad that this the finale to the Mercy Kilpatrick series. Mercy is a fantastic heroine - tough, capable, prepared for anything, and badass. I will miss reading about her exploits. I'm excited to read any of Kendra Elliot's future works as her writing style is engaging, readable, and entertaining.

Sadly this is the final book in the Mercy series and I'm sad to see it go but can't wait to see what Kendra Elliot writes next! Mercy is undercover in a cult when she is found out will she be able to get out alive? The book starts a bit slow but quickly ramps up to the typical great suspense of Kendra's books! The Mercy series is ended with a great finale and a wedding (finally) . Love this series I will miss the characters they have become like family to me. If you have not read this series you are seriously missing out. A bit of romance, lots of suspense and great story lines in every single book. Highly recommend!!!

This is the 6th and final book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series. This book, like the other in the series, keeps a fast pace and doesn't take a breather. I am sad to see this series end. The author has a way of writing her characters in a way to make you want to see what happens to them, to see them grow. Its not just the main characters, either, she develops the secondary character as well. That is why I usually recommend for people to read the series from the beginning even though this is written as a stand alone.

Mercy is asked by the ATF to replace one of their undercover agents that has fallen ill. Her partner is already under and she would play his girlfriend, but they can't call and let him know of the switch. See, Mercy would be totally off the grid with a militia group. She can't tell anyone where she is going, including her fiance, Truman. All she can tell him is that she will be away for a couple of weeks and will not have any way of communicating with the outside world. While she is gone, Truman gets involved with investigating some murders, which may be connected. Will Mercy be able to get the information that the ATF needs before she gets caught?

With this being the last book, I was hoping for Mercy and Truman working a case together, not them being apart for most of the book. It almost felt as if this really wasn't the last in this series, so that was a little disappointing. The story, however, doesn't disappoint. It makes you want to keep reading to find out what happens, with both story lines. There was one mystery that wasn't solved by the end of the book, what was Mercy's reaction to Truman's wedding gift?

Another fast paced, exciting story in this series.. The characters are varied and interesting and it's good to catch up with them.

Another good story from Kendra Eliot. This time, Mercy Kilpatrick is undercover, embedded with a militia group not too far off from the survivalist group she grew up in. The difference: her parents weren't planning on killing anyone. With Truman at hime, wiling away the hours she gone - no contact allowed - and hoping she'll be back and able to get ready for the upcoming, wedding, simultaneous plotlines run thru the book. Truman has a case that may or may not be a serial killer among them, and Mercy's father's got some upsetting health news.
Told in rotating POVs this book as all the other Mercy books is a well thought out, planned and executed story.
Eliot never disappoints.

I have really enjoyed reading this series. Mercy, the preppier and FBI agent, is such a strong female character and being a part of her story of finding love and her way back to her family has been has been so much fun that I’m sorry it’s ended. This series is really about the mysteries, though, and this one is so worthy of a series finale. Mercy is undercover in a militia group and just about everything that can go wrong, does. I was reading this one long after my bedtime just to finish. I love Truman’s dedication to Mercy, his dedication to his job and how well the author brought Mercy’s story and Truman’s together in this mystery. Sad to see this series end.

Book 6 in the series, and what a fantastic book it is.
Mercy finds herself in so much danger in this book, you'll be hanging onto every word praying she makes it out alive.
Poor Truman has no idea what undercover assignment Mercy has taken on, but when the truth comes to light he wonders if he'll get to marry Mercy, or even see her alive again.
A twist involving Mercy's family comes to pass in this book as well, which adds another layer to the story.

Edge of your seat, page turner. You can't help but be drawn into the story because within minutes of starting the book you're already invested in the health and safety of the characters.
Kendra makes her books come alive in your mind.. Another outstanding book by Kendra Elliot!

Mercy is a FBI agent who has been asked by ATF to go undercover in a militia group. She can tell no one not even her fiancé, Truman. He’s a cop and knows sometimes Mercy can’t give him details. But when dead bodies start showing up, Truman thinks they are related. Mercy is trying to find out what the group is up to and where the stolen guns are. Cam Mercy keep her cover or will she be outed and punished?
Short review but I didn’t want to give anything away. A totally edge of your seat story with action and suspense. This is the last of this series and this is the first one I’ve read. This book will keep you hooked and reading until the end.

From the very first sentence I was pulled into the story and held my breath until the very end. Well not quite held my breath, but I could not imagine a better way to end this incredible series. The story once again is about Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick, who works FBI and her fiancé Eagle Nest police Chief Truman Daly. They both have “adopted” Ollie and Kaylie, who is Mercy’s niece. The blended family have tragedy in their lives that has them all brought together. Mercy is on a undercover assignment to infiltrate a militia group who is rumored to being to do something “big.” She meets ATF agent Chad and it just explodes into on your seat, heart thumping story. Betrayal, loyalty, anger and love and forgiveness is some of the emotions this story has put me through. Gripping almost to the very end, I cannot say enough about this story and the incredible series that Kendra Elliot has written. Her very best! Bittersweet due to the last in the series, but hopefully they will return in another series which I’m sure will be just as amazing or better.

The final book in the series has Mercy Kilpatrick having to go undercover in a segregated community that borders on being a fanatical cult.

There are many things about being a survivalist that Mercy still embraces but how this leader runs his community and treats the women and children is the one of things Mercy despised about her upbringing. Having to play subservient is tough for the strong and independent FBI agent. And it's even tougher for her when she is just months away from marrying police chief Truman Daly whom she could not tell where she was going or how long she would be gone for.

I remember starting the first book in the series wary of a heroine like Mercy because of her background. But it only took till the end of that book to fall in love with her and her man Truman and the rest of the series. It's always sad when a series ends but it at least ends very satisfying. Looking forward to whatever comes next from this author.
