With her upcoming wedding weeks away Mercy is tasked to infiltrate a militia group suspected in an ATF weapons heist posing as the girlfriend of an AFT agent already embedded with the group. But the hardest part of the assignment is, she cannot disclose where she is going to her fiancée Truman.
The book is written with two different viewpoints, Truman who is dealing with a number of unexplained bodies found shot execution style and nude being dumped in his jurisdiction and Mercy’s new life undercover with the militia.
This book is a pulse pounding suspense filled drama coming an epic conclusion. Loved the series and this book did not disappoint, highly recommend.

Having read the previous books in this series I was not disappointed ……………… this book is BRILLIANT .
It appears that this is the final book in this particular series ………….. but the Author has a habit of re-introducing her characters in other series ………… so perhaps this will not be the last we see of Mercy and Truman .

Without notice Mercy has been attached to an undercover infiltration of an "anti Government Militia " ………. forbidden from letting anyone , including Truman , knowing anything about her mission .
The mission will test Mercy and her 'prepper' upbringing to the core . Who can she trust ? ...……….. no one it appears . Her life is very much at stake as the mission falls apart when the Militia reveal that they have known who she was from the start …………… who was the traitor/s ?

Truman meanwhile has been drawn into the case of a man's body found on farm land ……….. who is he ? how does he connect to Mercy's mission ? As the truth is revealed it will take all his wits and strength to find Mercy alive . Will their marriage ever take place ? They deserve a happy ever after .

The story is a page turning , fast paced , full of action and suspense story with a fraught ending …………………..

I do enjoy Kendra Elliots writing. I have read a few other novels written by her and have enjoyed them all. This book started off fast paced and right to the point. Mercy Kilpatrick an FBI agent goes undercover with an anti government militia. She is not allowed to tell her future husband and police chief Truman Daly anything about the assignment. Just that she is leaving and will be gone what she thinks two weeks.


This book moves right along and keeps the reader in suspense. This is nothing I like more then a book that keeps you wanting to turn the page. This book did that for me. With not knowing where Mercy was and Truman not giving up it did have a small romantic role within the book.

I would say the only part that left me thinking "really". Was when Mercy escapes. I felt with her injuries coupled with the distance required to travel not many would make such a hike. However this is a book and lets face it Mercy is your female badass! I have enjoyed this series and sad that its the last book. I do look forward to more books by Elliot and a cameo of these two charters. .

This, sadly, is the final book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series and I shall miss the excited anticipation  of waiting for the next instalment of her and fiance Truman Daly's adventures.

Although the entire six book arc takes less than two years to unfold it has been enjoyable, traumatic, tense and romantic from the start and this book doesn't disappoint on any of these fronts. Once again it begins with a bang and doesn't let up. There are far smaller, or even non speaking, parts for many of the other regular characters but their stories have already been told and rightly the spotlight is almost solely on Mercy and Truman this last time.

The antagonists, both obvious and hidden, provide many of the heartstopping moments in this first class book as they inhabit the isolated community Mercy finds herself in and Eagle's Nest where Truman is investigating a confusing series of murders.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it highly to anyone who has read the series so far or enjoys a conspiracy based mystery. I think it would work as a stand alone story, there being only one real spoiler I can think of, but be prepared to immediately want to read the previous five outings of my favourite couple so far in the brilliant Kendra Elliot's universe.

My dismay is not for the events of the book nor for a dreaded cliffhanger but because I read in the author’s note at the end that this will be the last Mercy Kilpatrick book. That’s a shame, but Elliot does her characters justice in their final adventure.

Months shy of her much-anticipated wedding to Truman, Mercy is sent off on a secret undercover mission to infiltrate a group of antigovernment militants in an isolated compound. Needless to say, things do not go smoothly and she finds herself in deep trouble, cut off from all friends and colleagues. The story is told from Mercy’s POV, facing dangers from people and from nature, and also from Truman’s, desperate to find her and bring her home. While there are some minor incongruities in the story, the wrap-up to the main plot and the personal denouement are very satisfying.

Over the course of the series I’ve come to like and care about the characters, from Mercy and Truman to Kylie, Ollie, Rose, and others. One of the strengths of the series has been the personal growth of those characters, and this final book completes that nicely. In her afternote, Elliot says that Mercy and company might make some guest appearances in other stories. While this ending is bittersweet, I will look forward to that.

The story of Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick comes to an end in the sixth installment of the "Merciful" series, Raised by preppers in Oregon, Mercy was kicked out her home at 18 and joined the establishment, becoming an FBI special agent. Over the course of the series, she has come home and fallen in love with the local police chief, and begun to re-connect with her estranged family. In this thriller, Mercy is on her own in an undercover assignment and must rely on her wits and courage to survive. A satisfying conclusion to the story arc begun in "A Merciful Death."

Truman and Mercy are just three months away from their Christmas wedding when Mercy is tapped for an undercover assignment to look for stolen weapons and a plot to use them in a secretive militaristic compound deep in a rural area. She has less than a day to prepare since she is filling in for an agent who suddenly contracted Shingles. She can't tell anyone where she is going or how long she'll be gone.

Meanwhile, Truman who is left at home is suddenly involved in a case of his own when random dead bodies are turning up stripped to their underwear and shot in the head.

As Truman worries about Mercy, she finds herself in a compound where she isn't sure that she can trust her partner who seems to be proceeding much too slowly for Mercy's liking. Mercy's cover is that of someone with nursing experience which immediately gets her involved with a heavily pregnant woman and some sick children. Since the attitude of the group is that medical intervention is a government plot to control people, Mercy has a fight on her hands to get help for the sick child.

When her partner disappears and Mercy fears for him, she is left alone, unable to communicate with anyone outside, and with only a sixteen-year-old girl for an ally. Her identity betrayed to the leader, Mercy is in great danger when she gets help from an unexpected source that might be enough to save her. Meanwhile, after her partner's body is discovered, Truman learns where she is and the danger she's in and is determined to find her.

This was an action packed, intense conclusion to the Mercy Kilpatrick series. It was well written and fast-paced and, best of all, it looks like a happy ending for Mercy and Truman and the family that they have built.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this series and I'm so sad that this is the final book, but looking forward to whatever Kendra brings us next.

Do yourself a favor and read this series...you won't be disappointed!

A Merciful Promise by Kendra Elliot is the 6th book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series. Sadly this is the last book in the series, a series that I wish could go on and on as I love the characters so much. However, I'm so happy to say that if you have been a Mercy Kilpatrick fan since the beginning, this book will be very satisfying for you. I will also say, that this book can be read on its own, but I hope that you go back and read the entire series later this summer because each book is full of wonderful characters and the more that you learn about Mercy and Truman, the more you will love the entire series.

In A Merciful Promise Mercy and Truman are forced to work separately because the ATF needs Mercy to be a last-minute replacement on a top-secret, under cover assignment in an anti-government militia group. This means that she can have no contact once she enters the compound. She tells her finance, Truman, that she can't tell him anything about the assignment and this eats at her because they depend on each other. When Mercy finds that her undercover partner has suddenly gone missing, and she does not even know where the emergency phone is hidden, she is in a fight for her life. She was sent in by the ATF because they understand that there is a big event being planned but they have no idea what it will be, or when it will be. If Mercy is able to get the details, she's not sure that she can get any kind of warning out in time.

Meanwhile, Truman is working on his own case of men being shot execution-style. Eventually there is an indication that perhaps Truman's case and Mercy's assignment have a connection, and now Truman is on a mission to find Mercy before it is too late.  A Merciful Promise is a wonderful conclusion to this series. I can't wait to see what characters we will meet next from Kendra Elliot.

The last of the Mercy books. Again skillfully written by Kendra Elliot. I found it was well worth reading. Once again we find Mercy and Truman following their own careers as FBI and Police Chief respectively. Mercy is sent out on a undercover assignment by the ATF. An assignment that she can't even tell Truman, her finance, where she is or have any contact with him or anyone else. A dangerous assignment. Truman is called out repeatedly as partially clothed dead men are found in the fields, in his district and neighboring districts. They know the men were killed in the same manner but why and who would do this and who are the men? In the meantime Mercy is joining another agent deep undercover in an isolated compound of 40 or so individuals, men and women, suspected of being illegal-arms buying militia. The current agent needs help finding out what this group plans to do and where are the alleged stolen guns they are suspected of having and selling to get money.. Whispers of something big happening soon are floating around. But only the most trusted members know. The compound, run by a man who has the type of personality that others follow. Even if it means happily living in dirty, cold and scarcely supplied conditions. A man who forbids phones, communication with the outside and rules with an iron hand. If you do well and please him you get to be branded by him. If you do anything he says is illegal a second offense gets you whipped. Mercy challenges the leader from the beginning much to the dismay of her supposed boyfriend the other agent.undercover. It earns her food rations taken away for 36 hours for daring to help a sick child her first offense. When the other undercover agent gets sent on a mission away from the compound Mercy is on her own. She must find out what the ATF wants to know and get out of there. She is beginning to fear for her safety. Unfortunately before the other agent was sent away he didn't get to show her where the only hidden communication to the outside world and the only hope of help. is hidden. When he doesn't return she knows she's in trouble. Has her cover been exposed? How will she get out. She sets out to find answers as quick as she can without getting caught. But way too soon things get out of hand.
I like reading about Mercy and Truman and will miss them. I hope to find their characters in future books. I thank NetGalley and Kendra for allowing me to read and review this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

In ‘A Merciful Promise’ FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick is sent undercover by the ATF to infiltrate a suspected anti-government militia group living in the mountains in Oregon. Mercy is handpicked to assist the ATF because she knows the area and looks exactly like the agent that was meant to go undercover. The only catch is Mercy can’t tell her fiancé Truman Daly where she’s going or communicate with him, in case her cover is blown.
Truman meanwhile is dealing with the discovery of a dead body dumped in Eagle’s Nest which seems to have links to other execution style murders in the region.
Normally Mercy and Truman turn to each other for help solving their cases, but this time both of them have to rely on others to try and figure out what’s going on before it’s too late.
There were a few twists and turns in ‘A Merciful Promise’ that I didn’t see coming which made it a great read. The ending of ‘A Merciful Promise’ was great, just what I wanted for Mercy and Truman.
I didn’t realise this would be the last book in the series, but once I’d finished it I did think it was a fitting ending. While I am sad to see the end of the series, I think Mercy and Truman’s stories have reached their conclusion. I wasn’t sure how much more murder/mystery the small town of Bend could realistically take.
I have really enjoyed reading this series and am looking forward to the next series that Kendra Elliot brings out.

A Merciful Promise by Kendra Elliot is the last and sixth of the Merciful series. FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick, stationed in Bend, Oregon. With each novel, Mercy grows and grows. While nice to have all the back history of Mercy, this book stands on its own quite nicely.
Mercy is chosen to assist the ATF as a last minute substitute for an undercover mission where she will be out of touch and inside a guarded compound for at least ten days. She will not even be able to tell her soon to be husband, Truman Daly, Eagle’s Nest Police Chief. Eagle’s Nest is Mercy’s childhood home where her family lives, including her estranged father of many years brought on by Mercy’s decisions to go her own way and defy her father’s wishes.
Mercy is to enter the compound as the girlfriend of another ATF undercover agent already inserted inside the compound of America’s Preserve, an anti-government group with a charismatic leader. There is intelligence they are planning something big and are responsible for a recent robbery of a large amount of weapons.
As things go, they fall apart bit by bit. The story of this is engaging and captivating as we have been taught to expect for works by Kendra Elliot.
The only flaw in this book is that it is the last in the series. The good news is that is not a fatal flaw and can be reversed. Let’s hope so..

I just finished an ARC of the forthcoming A Merciful Promise by Kendra Elliot, the sixth – and sadly – final book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series.
Once again, I was captured from the first words and held enthralled until the last page. This book is another extraordinary job by Kendra Elliot.
I don’t like to give anything away in my reviews, but I will say that I love how Kendra writes from different viewpoints – Mercy’s and Truman’s – over the same time frames; managing to capture the emotions of both.
There was quite of bit of gasping, nail biting and crying on my part, particularly when I realized that this was the last Mercy book!
I highly recommend this book and encourage you, if you haven’t yet, to run out and start the ‘Merciful’ series.

I have to preface this by stating that I do not want the Mercy Kilpatrick series to end!! I believe this character has the ability to rival some of the best – a formidable female Jack Reacher type persona. Love her!
FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick is asked last minute to pose as the girlfriend of an undercover agent on an ATF mission and infiltrate a survivalist colony, America’s Preserve, long suspected of amassing and selling arms. She reluctantly accepts the assignment, unable to even tell fiancé Truman Daly of her plans. With a modified ‘GOOD’ bag, she jumps on a bus to make the pre-arranged meet, deep in the woods of Oregon.

Upon arriving at the colony, Mercy is dismayed to find that she and Chad will be separated for much of the time. Acting her role as his lover, Mercy finds that all of their interactions are monitored, and she has little way of discussing the case with Chad. All personnel are monitored, making it difficult for her investigation. No phone, no radio, no means of contacting the outside world have Mercy on edge. Then Chad is sent off the compound on an errand, leaving Mercy defenseless.

Meanwhile, back home, Truman has his own problems. A seemingly random set of deaths have him scrambling to identify their victims and find a killer. Dumped nude, and shot execution style, Truman is stymied, until a third victim is identified as an ATF agent.

As FBI & ATF personnel converge in Eagles Nest, Truman learns that his latest murder victim is linked the Mercy’s undercover mission. With one agent dead, and Mercy unaccounted for, the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team assembles to storm the compound. But Mercy is gone…and Truman will do anything to get her back…

Another edge-of-your-seat thriller from Kendra Elliot – and I don’t want them to end!!!

Being honest up front, I love Kendra Elliot and I love everything she does. This series pulled me every which way from book 1. I highly recommend reading them in order. You learn the back ground, watch the growth and along the way become their friends, and invested. Thank you Montlake, NetGalley and Kendra Elliot for this Arc. My heart is still tripping with the intrigue, the suspense and the depth of Truman's love. There is brutality which is is real in the world, there is family, dysfunctional and trying. When Truman takes her dad to task I was right there yelling go Truman! I wanted to see Eden and her mom in their conclusion. I did have sniffles and tears as Mercy made peace in heart and her and Truman step out into their lives with their version of family and I am holding on to the words that Kendra wrote we could see them pop up down the road as secondary characters. Please on please yes. I voluntarily leave this review, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I need to go reread, I miss them already.

This was a buddy-read with my GR friend, Luli. I want to thank her for introducing this author to me. We had already read the previous five stories. *I recommend reading them in order.* We knew A Merciful Promise was the final one and would wrap up the series. We were ready for closure.

After an unusual opening (I was initially confused!), I discovered FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick was recruited by the ATF for an undercover mission. Police chief Truman Daly, Mercy’s fiancee, trusted her to return safely within a few days. The operation was secret; he knew few details.

A dramatic, suspenseful novel is a favorite form of entertainment to me. It’s a pleasure to get lost in the tension. I want to be on the edge of my seat and anxious to guess what will happen next. And it is especially nice to catch my breath with a developing romance. That said, I expected some climatic twists and eagerly awaited Truman’s and Mercy’s wedding day.

It’s important to remember that this is a story. I thought some of ’the mission’ was far-fetched. For me, a few issues were a bit of a stretch. But I also respected Ms. Elliot for building the suspense in such a way that she didn’t lose me. Mercy was never stupid. Truman’s feelings in his gut were realistic. Honestly? Though the actual romance in the series was light, this couple was one of the most intelligent twosome I have read in quite awhile. And how would the story have ended without Kaylie and Owen?

In this 6th (and final) book about Mercy, there is excitement and intrigue as Mercy goes undercover among a cult-like militia group. Putting herself in danger is what Mercy does regularly, but this assignment causes her to realize how much she has to lose now. With an impending wedding to the man that brought her out of an unhealthy place and newfound connections to her family of origin, Mercy tries to balance her desire to stop an egomaniac killer and her need to stay alive in order to experience her happily-ever-after future. I was very sad when the book ended with a too quick resolution and the knowledge that there will be no more books in the "Mercy series."

Interesting mystery. It was full of suspense and intrigue. It really kept me entertained.

I really liked this story. Very interesting and complicated case for Mercy and Truman means an extremely good well written book! I’m sad to see this series end. Looking forward to Mercy cameos for years to come.

A wonderful tale and very well told. Such a pity that it's the final of Mercy's adventures. Thrill-a-minute, with the characters well drawn. The conclusion, dare I say it, was only to be expected the journey was worth it. Highly recommended.
