Thank you for the opportunity to read this. I will be posting a full review to Goodreads, Amazon, and Instagram.

The author wrote a great account of the personal journey they embarked on. The honest and detailed writing made it easy for the reader to feel invested in their journey.

I've actually read a few teaching in a men's prison memoirs over the year (I know!) and this one was a little weak. I found her personal life and narrative a lot more interesting than the prison teaching part. I would have liked it more if she didn't focus on the prison so much, I felt like her writing was weaker in those parts.

I found the author's personal life to be far more interesting than her stories about working in a prison. I maintained hope that the prison side of her life would take off in the book, or "go somewhere," but it plodded along with no real tension or arc to the story.. Her personal life was what interested me.
