It was alright, but the story and the characters were kind of meh and boring sadly.
So i did not enjoy it as much as i had hoped.

Sadly, THE HEALING JAR is the last story in The Prayer Jars trilogy. I wish it would be turned into a series so everyone in this wonderful Amish community could benefit from the beautiful messages in the jars. Oh how I love a Wanda Brunstetter story! She had my emotions all over the place. Once I started reading THE HEALING JAR it was very hard to stop! The twists and turns made it impossible to put down, as I had to know what was going to happen to Lenore after losing her grandpa and being in quite the pickle of two men wanting to marry her! What an awesome story. All of Wanda’s characters feel genuine and relatable and put your emotions on one heck of a roller coaster ride. As you are reading, you will find yourself cheering for all of them, praying they can work out their problems and be happy once again.

Once you start reading THE HEALING JAR it will be very hard to stop! Wanda sure knows how to put a new twist on Amish fiction! When Jesse and his young daughter move to their community, Lenore falls in love with Cindy, the baby who lost her mother during her birth. Lenore gets her chance at love, but will Jesse be able to move past his love for his first wife to give Cindy the mother she needs? Will he ask Lenore to be in a love less marriage that is only about convience for him? I’ve got to admit, THE HEALING JAR is the best book of the trilogy. Trust is the main lesson in this wonderful story. Can we put our trust in God to right our troubles in our lives if it is his will? This story definitely makes you think about that question.

THE HEALING JAR is without a doubt one of the best Amish books I’ve read in 2022 so far. I was instantly emotionally invested in all of the characters. When Lenore finds the prayer jar in the garden, I found myself thinking of those prayers over and over again! Wanda Brunstetter is such a wonderful and heart tugging author and she had me laughing and crying on the very same page. I am now going to read all of her previous books that I have somehow missed as she is now an auto buy author for me! THE HEALING JAR made me very sad to have to say goodbye to the Lapp family. But I’m very happy to learn who wrote the messages in the jars and who Sara’s biological father is. Grab your copy today and get on the couch!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A series of mini reviews: Having not finished the second book I am not reading this one though from the first chapter I can tell that it has an interesting story and readers of Amish fiction will love The Healing Jar!

Third book of Jar serie.
Lenore, an unmarried and young woman, lives with her granparents to help her ill granpa.
In august she'll teach at the local school in Strasburg.
The reader'll read about Lenore and the mistery of the jars, full of written papers.
Nice book, lovely story, for which I cried several times during the reading, God centered, inspring, love it.
I'm never disappointed from books of this author!
The author tells us: "Our mission is to inspire the world with the life-changing message of the Bible."

Lenore, who is approaching 30, is the lead teacher at the Amish school and is starting to be discontent. She longs for a family of her own, but love interests have evaded her, so far. Widower Jesse moves to Strasburg with his infant daughter, following the death of his beloved wife. Jesse, though in need of a wife, cannot see beyond the day-to-day care needs of his daughter.
Michelle and Sara from the prior books in this series pop in again and we have updates on their circumstances. Both married, they are making lives with their husbands. Grandmother Mary and grandfather of this clan also have challenges in this book. I liked that the author didn't gloss over the physical limits and improvements from a stroke.

The Healing Jar

by Wanda E. Brunstetter

Examples of difficult situations and decisions abound in Wanda E. Brunstetter’s The Healing Jar along with positive, Godly responses to those circumstances. Frequently the characters pray and then continue with their daily activities as they wait on God to answer their prayers by changing their circumstances or their hearts. Often He acts in surprising ways.

The main characters in these stories are all connected to the Amish Lapp family, and they all independently stumble on prayer jars hidden on the Lapp property. What remains a mystery to the young ladies, until a discovery in this book, is who accumulated Scriptures and heartfelt petitions to God on slips of paper in old canning jars.

The matriarch of the Lapp family is Mary Ruth. The other main character in The Healing Jar is her granddaughter Lenore Lapp who longs to be a wife and mother. The story of Sara, a granddaughter who was not raised Amish, continues in this book as she tries to discover the identity of her biological father. Michelle, who in an earlier book pretends to be Sara, finds happiness in her conversion to the Amish way but faces challenges when her husband wants to move away from her new family and friends.

I enjoyed this gentle book and recommend this trilogy to those who are interested in learning more about Amish life and customs and to readers looking for romance with a Christian focus. I do think this series should be read in its entirety and in sequence as it is very character based. Perhaps because of the way the series builds and the closure this book provides, it is my favorite of the three books.

I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Barbour Publishing (Shiloh Run Press) for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 5/5

Category: Christian, Literary Fiction

Notes: #3 in the Prayer Jar Trilogy. I recommend it, but not as a standalone.

Publication: August 1, 2019— Barbour Publishing (Shiloh Run Press)

Memorable Lines:

“We must learn to trust the Lord, even with things we don’t understand. As we go through troubled waters, it should strengthen, not weaken, our faith. And remember, dear one, prayer is not a business transaction. We don’t give something to get something in return.”

It was frustrating how a person could think they had worked through a situation, even felt peace about it, and then out of the blue, the pain of it all came right back to haunt them.

“It just goes to show that even when people make terrible mistakes, God can take a negative situation and turn it into something good.”

He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

Leonore Lapp is a single Amish young woman who has taken to living with her grandparents since her grandfather's stroke. She loves her grandparents as they have been a great example of marriage and family to her. Leonore and her cousin Sara from The Forgiving Jarhave come a long way in the relationship has Sara living the English life as her mother ran away pregnant many years ago. Sara's mother has passed away and she has left her family with many questions. The questions have been answered in the form of hidden jars that have been found hidden at Leonore's grandparents home. These jars are filled with scripture and notes that are a cry for help. Three stories begin to emerge with the discovery of these jars that bring hope for Leonore, Sara and Michelle from The Hope Jar.

The Lapp's befriend a single widower Jesse with a young child that has recently moved to their community. Leonore and Jesse strike up a friendship in regards to Jesse's infant daughter. Jesse is not interested in remarrying has he was deeply in love with his wife and wants to keep her memory alive. The tension arises as Leonore begins to develop feelings for Jesse that Jesse cannot return.

Sara is happily married but she misses the time she missed with her mother. Her grandparents bring her comfort but she feels the Lord directing her to find her father. Owning a flower shop and being a wife of a Pastor, she is drawn to one man that may be her father.

Michelle has everything she could ever want. After deceiving her grandparents by deception, she is now married to a loving Amish Man. Her heart longs to be a mother however, the stress of her husband work has left him wanting more. Will she be willing to sacrifice what his heart desires.

All 3 women learned about sacrifice and hope that comes from trusting in God's promises. Loved how each account was tied together and lessons shared.

A Special thank you to Barbour Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Loved this book! I love all of Wanda Brunstetter's books, but I especially loved this series. It is full of action and especially love of God and family. The story is such a heart touching one and I love how Wanda incorporates the messages in the healing jar into the books plot.

When it comes to Amish Fiction, I have one author I turn to. She never fails to create stories filled with hope and love, and renewed faith. Her characters are always magnificently chiseled and they quickly steal your heart. That author is popularly known as Wanda Brunstetter.

I absolutely loved getting to see Lenore Lapp’s story! I have loved the previous two books but Lenore’s story just truly healed my soul. I loved being a part of the story once again, and following along while Lenore thinks she’s never going to find love. Enter Jesse Smucker and his sweet infant daughter, Cindy, and Lenore just may have found that love she wanted.

Let’s not forget the center of the story: The Healing Jar. It’s a mason jar filled with encouragement and scripture. Things that will help the characters through this novel. It’s the perfect ending to an absolutely captivating series!

If you want a novel that will pull you in to the heart of the story instantly, grab this 4 star story now. It’s filled with beautifully chiseled characters, and tender messages of forgiveness, hope, love, and understanding. From start to finish you’ll be lost among the pages and before you realize it, this amazing series will come to an end. I can’t wait to see what Brunstetter has in store for us next!

The Healing Jar took me full circle into the Lapp family and uncovered a mystery. Wanda E Brunstetter always seems to find great treasures in life. Thank you for this ARC.

The Healing Jar is the third book written by Wanda Brunstetter in her series The Prayer Jar. In this book , we travel back to Strasbourg, Pennsylvania and get reacquainted with all the characters from the previous two novels.

This story mainly revolves around Lenore, but we also get to catch up with Michelle, Sara, Mary Ruth and Willis. The story is filled with love, loss, friendship, forgiveness, and second chances.

I was given the opportunity to read this book in advance of its release thanks to Netgalley and Wanda Brunstetter. I was not approached to post a favorable review in response.

I don't read many romance books because I think most of them are the same story told over and over. BUT, the Brunstetter family writes heart felt stories, that include romance, but are all about surviving life through the virtues of a good family and good deeds. Each of their characters has choices and works hard to make the right ones. They accept that they cannot always be winners yet know that in the end, they will win what they need to be happy. These books always leave me feeling better for having read them.

I am not going to read any more of these kinds of books. I am always drawn in, thinking it will be a nice, clean story to enjoy, and I always end up frustrated and feel like I wasted my time. This is another book in a really immature and unsatisfying series. The characters are so shallow it's uneblievable. Literally unbelievable. Their reactions to events are just not realistic. The whole premise behind this book series makes Amish people seem like gullible and foolish simpletons. And that just isn't true. I am irritated and won't be reading any more books from this author.

I enjoyed reading this book because of its simple storyline. There was enough to keep me wanting to read on and find out what happens to the different characters. I learned more about the Amish people and their cultures. The characters were interesting and there were no awful nasty people in the book which is a nice change. I do recommend it to be read.

Healing Verses
This is the third and final book of the series. I enjoyed reading all three books but I really loved The Healing Jar book the most. Each book in the series focuses on one character with all the same characters and new ones throughout all three books. The series should be read in order so to keep up with what is going on with all the characters. After Lenore Lapp’s grandfather suffered a stroke, she moves in to help her grandmother take care of her grandfather. Jesse Smucker is a widower with a baby daughter who moved from another community after the death of his wife. Lenore falls in love with Jesse and accepts his proposal of marriage, but then Jesse backs out because for him it would be a marriage of convenience. A mother for his baby girl. Just like Michelle and Sara, Lenore discovered a prayer jar with Bible verses in it and wonders who put them there. Finally in the third book, we find out who was behind the prayers jars and hiding them. So who is the person who hid the prayer jars, did Jesse change his mind about marrying Lenore and will she accept again? Read the book and find out. Read the whole series – The Hope Jar, The Forgiving Jar and The Healing Jar. Wanda E. Brunstetter is an excellent author and one of my favorites. I highly recommend this book and many of the author’s other books.

If you've read any Amish fiction at all I'm sure you've heard of the author, Wanda Brunstetter.
She is one of the first authors to write the genre and an absolute go to author for me when she releases a new book. I've read almost all of her books and she is not slowing down at all. Her books get better and better with each one she releases!
This is the third and I do believe final book in the Prayer Jars series because it answers all the questions from the past books. If you do read this series please do yourself a favor and read all three of the books in order to get the most enjoyment out of the series.
There is a lot going on here in this book a new man moves to town after his fraa passes away with an infant daughter . He's not ready to open his heart to love again but his daughter needs a mother. Is there a way to have both?
We meet up again with Grandma and Grandpa Lapp with his failing health Lenore moves in to help when she's not teaching at the local Amish school.
There is family moving away for new opportunities. And we finally have answers when the final prayer jar is found. Answers that have long been prayed for.
I enjoyed reading how the characters are so easy to relate to. The characters has stress and worry but they take it into prayer and work to resolve it.
This author is a true blessing to many including myself with her books.

This was such a lovely story! I loved hearing more about Lenore and Jesse, and truly hoped that they would find a happily ever after in each other. I so love the final resolution of the mystery that weaves the 3 books together, and seeing more revealed from the prayer jars. Such a sweet peek into the Amish culture and finding that they live, love, and break bread just like the rest of us.
