beginning did really hook me, but overall the plot and characters didn’t grab me as much as I’d hoped they would – except for Jason, who is an absolute sweetheart and more complex than he seems at first brush.
The sex scenes were really hot and refreshing; they were probably my favorite part of the book. Shaylie and Piper do have fantastic chemistry once they get together.
I’m honestly not that much of a fan of babies at the ending - it’s a personal taste issue - so the epilogue really didn’t do much for me.
But overall, I enjoyed this book.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. I put off reading this because I am deathly afraid of flying. Once I started though I fell in love with Shaylie. This story was off the charts fantastic and I literally did not want it to end. Even the secondary characters of Jason and Marisa were outstanding and so captivating. I most definitely will be reading this book again and soon!

It's official, I'm a very big fan of this author, Kris Bryant. Her books are all great and this one isn't an exception! From the very start, I got swallowed by the book and couldn't keep my eyes away from it until I was done. The book is well-paced, the characters are attaching and the author's plot is very well written.

This is a great book that shows how a tragic event can bring people together in the most wonderful ways. Very well done story and the relationships are done well and honestly.

Great story. It was unevenly paced though. Not her best but good enough for a light read.

The friendship was written better and the epilogue was a nice touch.

I won't be reviewing this book on my website. I stopped about halfway though. I don't usually have problems with first person POV but in this case, I didn't like the main character so it was really hard to like the story.

This romance begins with one of my major fears – flying! Although I hate to fly, I was drawn to this book because of Ms. Bryant. I have read all of her books and always find them entertaining.

The story starts with a bang. A plane crashes. There are 11 survivors. Shaylie Beck, a realtor, is one of the survivors and just wants to return home after a long and tiring conference in NYC. Piper Cole’s connection to the doomed flight is different. Her fiancée was on the plane along with her best friend and business partner.

There are many emotions displayed in this book. Initially I felt as though I was on a roller coaster zooming out of control. Raw emotions swirled. How would I feel if I experienced what Shaylie did? Then, the coin flipped. How would I feel if I were Piper and I lost two people who meant the world to me? Ms Bryant does an excellent job in presenting the feelings of Piper and Shaylie.

The plot is solid and riveting. The friendship and eventual attraction between Shaylie and Piper are very believable. Piper’s working through the grieving process is certainly realistic. The secondary characters, Marisa (Shaylie’s best friend), Jason (Shaylie’s rescuer and fellow survivor) and Jason’s family add depth to this story.

I highly recommend this exciting book but do not recommend that you read it while waiting to take a flight! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I was given this ARC in return for a fair and honest review.

it has been a few years since I last read a book from Ms. Bryant, the only one have read was Jolt her first novel I believe. So I was intrigued when this came up in NetGalley so I thought I would give it a try-I am so glad I did

The book starts right out with one of the main characters, Shaylie (and actually the book is written in first person from her POV) in an tremendous freak airline accident. From there the story is based on how she recovers and her PTSD for certain things. She then ends up meeting Piper, who lost her fiancé along with her best friend in the crash.

I found the characters well developed and could just imagine their pain (which goes to Ms. Bryant's excellent ability to frame a story). I like the sub-characters (or in one instance loathed one of them), and found the really helped to build the story line. I read this book in one sitting and given time, will be picking it up again to re-read, I enjoyed it that much.

The epilogue was something I have not really seen in other books, given that it was so many years later, but I loved it! Some may say it was a bit to much HEA, but for me, I can't get enough of that since that is one of the main reasons I read lesbian romances :-)

I will definitely be looking for more from Ms Bryant. I received an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, but would have written the same opinion if I had come across this author on my own.

To see my Amazon review, it is under CC-Great summer read

Where to start?

I haven’t ever read anything by Kris Bryant before, and I had heard nothing but good things about this book, so I picked up a copy and somewhere I think I got lost in the pages!!!!

It was so emotional that the very first chapter had me hooked, and killed me all at the same time. That is how you grab a reader’s attention!!! Seriously, never been so on the edge of my seat as I was in the moment I started reading this!!!

The story of Shaylie is charged and emotional, not for the faint hearted, and yes, just like Shaylie you will end up falling for this book…SO HARD!!!

After going through such a traumatic and terrifying experience, how Shaylie picks herself up and gets on with her life, I will never know, but I am in awe of her for it. When she meets Piper, the surrounding circumstances aren’t ideal but she hoped, and made the best of it to try and be happy and I was rooting for them every step of the way.

This romance, as with all good romance, isn’t without it’s drama but that’s what really brings this story to life. It is filled with cute moments and happiness too, and serves as a beautiful reminder that if you are alive you should live your life. A very emotional story that you just need to read! I cried so much, smiled so hard, and screamed at the pages so much that I couldn’t help but be totally emotionally invested in loving every word.

I highly recommend this book to any romance lover, you will not be disappointed.

I am a fan of this author and this read did not disappoint. Harrowing experience written with sensitivity yet for most part believable. Shaylie Beck and Piper Cole are likable characters drawn toward each other around a tragic event. In a read like this, I was pleased to read about the supportive secondary friends. In my opinion, you need caring people around you that you can lean on.

Falling by Kris Bryant is an enjoyable book. The story is based around an unusual, and topical, idea where the main characters meet and develop a relationship in the aftermath of a plane crash with few survivors. The story is well-written and flows well, as expected from Ms. Bryant, and there is a nice mix of romance and humour with some steamy moments thrown in. Nevertheless I didn't quite fall in love with Shaylie and Piper, and Shaylie's big secret really wasn't worth the angst.
A solid four stars and a worthy read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed and advanced copy of this book, received through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I had never read a Bryant book, however, I have seen a lot of positive feedback about her lesbian fiction and when I saw this on NetGalley I decided to give it a try. It was not disappointing in the least.

The story starts strong with a big tragedy, it definitely caught my attention. After the first chapter, the pace kind of slowed down a bit, but as a reader, I was already interested. What I found interesting about this change of pace, was that it could actually mirror the process of overcoming said initial tragedy until the characters felt ready to take their relationship further. As I have never lived something remotely similar, this is only a wild guess. The relationship then, developed quite slowly, but I do not think this is a bad thing. I am actually glad it wasn't another romance. book about instant love and that it actually showed the character's development.

Some of the things I really liked of Falling: the pace, as I already said, and the relationship between Shaylie and Marissa, I love bffs. Some of the things I feel could have been better: the niceness, there was definitely too much niceness, everything and everyone was nice. Also, the winking, every other action made by Piper or Shaylie seemed to end with a wink. And something I had expected to see more of: dealing with PTSD. After reading that this book centered about a plane crash survivor I expected to see more angst or guilt, or more fear. In the end, it felt as if PTSD just disappeared in the background.

Having read other works by Ms Bryant and enjoying them, I couldn’t wait to start this one. But there seems to be a problem. I can’t seem to get started. I’ve read other books where I had to read a few chapters before I started to get into it but even after eleven chapters I still couldn’t with this one.
What I know so far is that Shaylie Beck was on a flight that crashed. Although she was injured she was one of the lucky ones. With the help of another passenger, Jason, she made it out. Most on this flight didn’t including the two women who were sitting with her.
Piper Cole was waiting for this same flight to bring back her lover and her best friend home. But it didn’t happen. They were but a couple of people that didn't make it home. She meets Shaylie at a news conference where they quickly become friends. She also learns that the two women sitting with Shaylie were her lover and best friend.
As I said before, I found this book almost impossible to sink into. The characters were flat and so was the story line. That being said I still look forward to reading Ms Bryant’s next book because they are usually really good reads.

I always look forward to reading Kris Bryant's books and this was no different. Very interesting storyline and situation to meet someone in which had an extra twist based on what Shaylie saw on the plane. I really loved Shaylie's character and loved following her journey of overcoming this traumatic situation she experienced as well as following her fall in love.

Piper I will admit struggled with at times, I feel she didn't treat Shaylie as well as I would have liked which made it hard for me personally to forgive her at the end. I did love Jason and Marisa's side storyline which really added to the whole book.

Overall I feel Bryant did a really good job, not my favorite out of all her books but still very good!

Falling
by Kris Bryant
2 stars

The book starts strong with drama and tension. However it fades in the middle making the reading tough work.

Is it worth the pushing through to the predictable ending? Some will say yes, others like me believe it needs a bit more editing and some more tension.

The story line follows a plane crash that pulls together two women directly involved in the crash. There is little tension of any description.

Beautiful, amazing, tearing at my heart strings kind of book. I definitely couldn't help but fall into love with this one from the very first page.

3.5 ★

This is the story of Shaylie Beck who is one of eleven survivors in a plane crash. After the plane crash she finds herself attracted to Piper, a woman who lost her best friend and fiancé in the crash. As Piper and Shaylie develops a friendship, Shayle also starts developing feelings but is unsure of how to proceed because of the circumstances.

I liked this book a lot, as someone who's terrified of flying even though I've never even been in an airport maybe this book wasn't ideal for me but I'm happy I read it and it was worth it.

I thought the first half of the book was amazing after that I felt it slowed down a bit, it was still really good though. I really enjoyed that it wasn't bombarded with drama and angst, the whole story was pretty sweet and light (except for the plane crash obviously).

I really enjoyed Kris Bryant's writing and all the characters. Surprisingly my favorite relationship wasn't between the love interests but between the main character Shaylie and her best friend Marisa. I usually don't think a lot of the relationships between friends in novels but their relationship was just super sweet. I definitely wished I had a friend like Marisa.

I did enjoy the relationship between Shaylie and Piper as well though of course but I felt like something was missing, I don't know if it was lack of chemistry or something else.. The whole story was really well written though, there were a lot of sweet romantic scenes, funny scenes and of course some steamy scenes that will make you blush like crazy.

If you're scared of flying maybe this isn't the book for you but other than that it's a really sweet and cute story. I would love to read more of Kris Bryant's books in the future.

Kris Bryant does it again with this book hitting it out of the ballpark with her storyline and her characterizations. I am a fan of her work and she seems to get better and better with each book she releases. She writes complex characters who also know that getting counseling for whatever reason is a way to deal with a variety of issues. These two main characters Clearly have issues that would lead them to counseling one would be survivors guilt and the other grief and loss. Falling tells an incredible story of a woman, Shaylie who is one of 11 survivors of a plane crash. On that plane she was sitting next to a woman, who turns out to be the fiancé and best friend she meets at the grief meetings held by the airline. That woman is Piper who wants to know everything possible about the last hours of her fiancé and best friend who did not make it alive out of the crash. So she befriends Shaylie and little by little the two of them become close . Shaylie hates the fact that she’s attracted to Piper and would love to be more than friends with her but she knows this is a terrible time for the both of them and clearly not the best time to start a relationship. Shaylie is holding an incredible secret about Piper‘s fiancé and best friend and she is torn about sharing with Piper.
Overtime these two women do you end up falling in love and having what appears to be a fabulous relationship until Piper overhears Shaylie tell her best friend about the secret that she’s been holding about Piper‘s fiancé. When Piper over here is this she reacts in a devastating manner thinking that Shaylie has been lying to her in order to get her in bed, she wants nothing further to do with her and breaks off the relationship. Shaylie is devastated and does her best to get on with her life. Is there any hope that these two can get together again and is it possible once Piper finds out the truth she would be able to ask Shaylie for her forgiveness and get back to what they had?
This is an incredible story and even though the premise of the story is based on a plane crash it is not a sad story rather it’s the story of how to women could build their lives stronger as a result of that plane crash. I highly recommend this book.

I was a little skeptical to read this book. As someone who travels a bit, airplane tragedies are not something that makes me comfortable to read. However, though this is the catalyst of everything that happens between all four characters involved, two MCs and two great supporting, it is definitely not the focal point. The story between Shay and Piper is told from What's point of view and at times I do wish Piper's PIG was voiced. Mainly because she was going through something tragic too and it's always nice to have that other voice of the main character. I don't know if I would say this is a slow burn romance and I wouldn't say it's a friends to lovers either. It kinda falls inbetween. Regardless, it was well-written, the characters I believe we're well developed, secondary characters were really great and added to the story, and the ro!have though quick in a sense was well done. I enjoyed the book.

This book is not your normal lesbian romance. Shaylie is one of the few survivors of a plane crash. Had she not been in the bathroom when the plane began to nosedive, instead of in her reserved seat, she would have had a different ending. She attends a support group for the survivors. There she meets Piper, who lost her best friend and fiance in the crash. There are things that Shaylie saw between Piper's friend and fiance before the crash that can devastate the beginning relationship between Shayie and Piper. Things that Piper never imagined.
Highly recommend this novel.
