This book is enticing and hard to put down. The chemistry and connection is so well written it makes you feel for the characters.

An amazing read!!!

Madison and Ana were destined to meet, destined to be friends, and their love knew no bounds, apart from the fact that they are from very different lifestyles and Madison’s father absolutely forbids it. But now he is dead and Madison’s life is completely turned upside down when Ana arrives at the graveside. With everything they have been through can they be friends, but Madison quickly learns that time hasn’t healed wounds, and ignoring them won’t help either. Both Ana and Madison are completely torn by their feelings but Ana is stubborn about forgiveness, and Madison is feeling a bit overwhelmed. When the truth about the past finally comes to light, it’s a question as to whether they can put it behind them.

Elle Spencer does not disappoint in giving a Hollywood style romance fit for the big screen. It was so romantic, and lovely, even though it was laced with drama and angst throughout. I adored how angsty this story was actually, and found myself so invested in it that I really struggled to put it down. It was just that amazing! Never a greater romance than that with forbidden love, it is one of the strongest, and most emotionally moving types of love to read about and Elle got it completely right. The balance between present day and snapshots of the past slowly revealed the reasons for Madison and Ana not being together, and I couldn’t help but root for happy ever after for these two!

Not a single complaint! I adored this book so much, and I do hope there will be more from Madison and Ana in future, or maybe even the past in more depth.

Madison and Ana were both amazing characters. From their young selves falling in love, to being young women, to present day, at every stage they were absolutely fabulous. It was a bit like magic. Their emotional journey was like nothing I have experienced before and I was very much invested in both of them before I even knew about the past. You could just tell they had chemistry and it was off the charts! They had so many cute moments in the flashbacks, and then these tense encounters after the funeral that were so heated that everyone knew they were both in denial, even them. I adored that angst between them though, as they learned together about what they could do to overcome what was standing between them back then, and now.

A brilliant read that I absolutely loved, highly recommend, and can’t praise enough. This is an awesome read!

This was my second by Spencer and I absolutely loved this one. This is a second chance, bridging of social classes, sweet and sometimes sad romance. It does deliver a lot of feels. I loved the main characters but especially enjoyed Ana. These two were mentioned in my first Spencer book, 30 Dates in 30 Days which made me really want to pick this one up. I think this one was better and that was insanely good. I lost sleep wanting to finish this one and read nearly the entire book in one sitting. I hope we get many more glimpses into Ana and Madison's lives.

Sorry but I couldn't finish this one. The first couple of chapters really put me off. I didn't care for the main character's voice. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review though.

I am a big Elle Spencer Fan. However, this book left me disappointed. It doesn't even come close to Casting Lacey. The Road To Madison just seemed flat, lacking in passion and emotion. For me personally, I really missed the sexy love scenes that were in her previous books. I felt the dialogue forced and not making sense for the main characters at times. I am still a fan and can't wait for her next book! This one just didn't deliver.

Let me say that I enjoy this author’s other works and I love that she can normally mix humor and love and growth really well. But this book did not really flow for me. It focused on the flashbacks and their past so much that I didn’t get to see them fall in love all over again. The conversations were also stilted and unrealistic. For example, one time Madison is talking to her exes mother who hates her for breaking her heart then all of a sudden it seems like all if forgiven and the mother is rooting for them to get back together. There were a lot of instances like this and I just could not get into the book.

I read this in one go, overnight. I enjoyed how the memories and events were interspersed with the story. I am not a fan of this method however Elle made it work for this story.

Not sure how I feel about the end which came about rather quickly, however, sometimes it is important to listen, understand, forgive and move onwards. Life is too short.

A very good book.

Not my favorite, honestly. There were weird things with race and class that were mostly unaddressed, and prevented me from fully enjoying what should have been a fun lesbian romance.

Soul Mates Forever!
I must say that the opening chapter at the grave yard set the tone of what to expect for the rest of the book - lots of angst! Madison and Ana met when they were young and eventually fell in love. Unfortunately, because Madison's father did not approve of their relationship, they are kept apart for 15 years before they get the chance to see each other again. During this time apart, they both have been unable to move on with their lives but does the death of Madison's father mean that they have a chance of starting over?

The author does a good job of drawing you into the lives of Ana, Madison and everyone else involved in their lives. I couldn't help but ask myself, "when does it end ?" as I read about what Madison's dad was willing to do to keep them apart. Can anyone be that miserable? And as a parent, could you be so ruthless and disregard your child's happiness? Just wow!! It was also interesting to see the role Ana's mom played in both women's lives. It was good to see the change in heart that Ana's mom had once she fully understood the reason Madison was not able to continue a relationship with her daughter 15 years ago.

Overall, a well written story about love that lasts a lifetime, lies that have the ability to change so many lives and the kind of loyalty that is able to make a difference in ones life.

A good read especially if you like a good dose of angst!

Just as with the author's previous book, Casting Lacey, I couldn't put The Road to Madison down.

Childhood love, heartbreaking breakup, meet again years later.

The angst, the plot twist, and the sadness. Spencer really had me thinking Madison could be a coward but then we find out the real truth at the source of all pain. Ana was testing my patience a bit, but luckily she came through.

So Elle Spencer was a very nice addition to my author list with Casting Lacey and obviously I was very excited to read this one. There were some mixed reviews and that’s why I went in with no expectations and thank god for that because this one actually clicked with me:)
I’ve always liked the rich/poor girl storyline but this one was done very nicely! The emotions were too real , and the MCs so believable.
I totally recommend this but it’s not for you if you don’t tolerate angst because, ladies and ladies, this is FULL of angst and not the smooth kind of angst, no it’s the real deal :)
I want to keep this review short because sometimes all you gotta do is recommend it :) so go for it , go through the emotional roller coaster that I went through and ENJOY :)

My very first book by Elle Spencer and I wasnt disappointed. The pacing was done brilliantly and the characters I grew to love with each passing page and moment they had with each other.

I have read both of Elle Spencer's previous releases and when this one came out I was on the fence about reading it. Some reviews were really great but it's those few that were a bit not that kept me from really going in for the read. After reading it though, I am glad that I did because even though I didnt absolutely positively love it, it was a type of book that I do enjoy. It's a friends to lovers, second chances, rich girl poor girl, light angst, cheesy (pretty cheesy if I have to admit), drama filled with just right amount of angst, and most importantly to me, an ending that makes me happy.
Now there are flashbacks throughout the book. And I will admit that I am not a fan of flashbacks when it really lends no purpose. At the beginning, I was okay with them. It served the purpose to let the reader know, and build up, what happened between Ana and Madison. However, after that was revealed I didnt see the point of it. Reminiscing i get, actual flashback not so much at that point in the book. The secondary characters, mainly Carmen and Scott, were good additions. The Alberto (or was it Albert) character reminded me of the "bad guy" from Disney's Meet the Robinsons. Don't know why but that's what he looked like to me. Anyway, Kris was a character I wished played a bigger role and I do hope she may get her own book because she got the short end of the stick in the end.
I enjoyed this book.

Compelling, heartbreaking, sometimes infuriating, amazing read.

I thought I wouldn’t read another Elle Spencer after reading Casting Lacey. Yep I’m the odd one. Despite the hype it got when it came out I just couldn’t get into it. Probably because I wasn’t in the proper headspace that time or because I was just being irrationally picky. So when I saw The Road to Madison I said okay I’ll give Miss Spencer another try. Well, never judge a book by its cover nor the author by the first book you’ve read by her. 😄

The Road to Madison’s storyline is one of those you often see in soap operas. It has drama, tension, and thrill, and surprising revelations that will have you glued to your seats. And Ms. Spencer perfectly crafted it that no way you would wish you were somewhere else doing something else instead of just sitting there on your rocking chair and be fully engrossed in the story. The tease, the push and pull was a bit frustrating like “uughh forgive and marry each other already!” or “make out and have babies already!” And the angst? its pace and punch— I had moments when I had to pause and smile and just say ‘wow, this is good’. Yep, never again doubt the author’s writing skill.

Second chances is one of my favorite tropes and I’ve read several of them, but only a few really stuck with me and I’m sure this book will be one of them.

This is a romance between two women who have been brought up in entirely different worlds. Madison Prescott comes from an extremely wealthy family and was raised by her father, a very nasty man. Ana Perez’s mother worked for the Prescott’s family as a housekeeper. Ana and Madison meet as children and immediately become best friends who do everything together. Eventually they become lovers, but are torn apart by George Prescott, Madison’s father, who refuses to have his daughter involved in a relationship with his housekeeper’s daughter. Ana never knows the reason behind the abrupt ending of their relationship or why her mother is fired. Ana is hurt and heartbroken.

The book actually starts in present day time at the gravesite of Madison’s father. Ana arrives at the ending of the burial. Through the use of flashbacks, we learn of the history between Ana and Madison.

Now that Madison’s father is dead, Madison thinks she can renew the relationship with Ana. Ana, on the other hand, has become a very successful businesswoman and is not eager to forgive and forget their past.

I really enjoyed this story. It was well written with several emotional twists and turns. Generally, the romance in a story will keep my attention, but the suspense added to this page turner. I highly recommend The Road to Madison and rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I like this author, and I’ll definitely read whatever she puts out in the future. This one was a bit of a struggle, unfortunately.

The characters were both so...sullen. All the time. It got to a point where I felt like we were just repeating the same things over and over again. It was like angst for angst’s sake, and I wish we had a bit more of their happier times throughout the novel. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it.

Spencer uses communication and miscommunication to propel the plot to a lovely resolution. In most 20th GBLTQ romances someone had to die. The plots stories were either tragic or cloying. Spencer chooses a happier path, creating a nice summer read.

I really liked Unforgettable so I was looking forward to this book. Unfortunately I didn’t really like it. Some of the events were too over the top and really far fetched (the whole engagement thing, Albert’s change of heart, the hit man etc). The two main characters were very unappealing - one was constantly crying and the other was always angry over something she should have gotten over at some point. The supporting characters were all a bit one dimensional and stereotypical. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the two leads, and the constant flashbacks were distracting. I’m afraid this book didn’t live up to my expectations.
