an entertaining romance with a nicely independently minded woman working out that she can have everything, with the man changing his mindset and attitude for a change!

Regency era romances almost always talk about the haute ton, the fashionable group of aristocrats that is basically the social set of early 19th century London. In “One Night for Seduction,” the first book in the Wicked Dukes Club series proposes that there were members of the upper crust who broke away from the establishment to create their own club.

In today’s lingo, we might call them rebels or liberals. But, in the context of the “Wicked Dukes Club” series, these aristocrats just want to be away from the haute ton’s very strict rules of propriety. These aristocrats did not turn their backs to polite society. They just want to relax the rules a little.

To achieve that, two ducal friends, the Duke of Colehaven and the Duke of Eastleigh established The Wicked Duke club which welcomed everyone from all walks of life.

And like the established clubs of that era, betting is a favorite pastime. This time, the bet was that the Duke of Colehaven will find a match for Diana Middleton, the ward and cousin of one of the members.

Armed with his knowledge of the eligible bachelors, Colehaven was ready to marry Diana off. But when he met her, he found out that Diana was more than meets the eye. With each meeting with her, the list of bachelors kept on getting shorter until there was only one left – himself.

Problem is, Colehaven will lose if he marries Diana. And Colehaven has a 10-year winning streak that he did not want to break.

A quick read, “One Night for Seduction” is a romantic comedy at its core. The characters are developed enough to be three-dimensional while still leaving room to add to their individualities in future books. This is just the first one. There are 5 more to go.

“One Night for Seduction” is Rated T for Teens.

I thought this was an entertaining story, and while I liked Diana's wanting to better the world, there were times where her actions left me feeling frustrated, but this story fits in well with the series and I'm looking forward to reading more, both from Erica Ridley and the series overall.

If you can get over the premise that the well brought up heroine (in Regency England) devotes her secret life to ensuring that merchants give full measure (before standardised weights and measures were brought in by law), then this is a fun light read. Cole (Duke of Colehaven) makes a bet that he can get a friend's wallflower sister married off before the end of the season, however Diana Middleton has no intention of marrying and losing her freedom to run around London in disguise, threatening to 'shop' shopkeepers who don't deal fairly with their customers. While she may not like the idea of getting shackled in marriage, she is open to the idea of a little seduction, especially since the Duke of Colehaven seems to be intent on turning up and spoiling her wallflower act. Cole begins to despair of ever winning his bet since he's suddenly realised he doesn't want to see Miss Middleton married off to anyone else but him. It's a short and sweet novel with the expected ending, but still worth reading.

I loved Cole and Diana and how their characters were written.
Diana was a woman who was very intelligent and ahead of her time, seeking to maintain her independence and stay a spinster, instead of marrying, so she could continue to do the things behind the scenes that she liked to do.
Cole had a winning streak going with bets in the past but all bets were off when he fell for the last person he thought he would ever fall for.
Very good attention to detail in a period piece. Diana was smart, sassy and funny. Cole's character was written well.
Can't wait to see what happens next in the Wicked Dukes series.

I’ve been taken to England in the middle of the season with a unique debutant that has a will stronger than any. Diana was the perfect lady in this romance and I fell into a trance with both her and Cole. This was an easy read that I sped through. It was funny and heartwarming. Wonderful addition to the series. Book provided by NetGalley.

While meeting his best friends at a pub Caleb Sutton also known as “Cole,” fifth Duke of Colehaven, meets with them for fun. One of his friends Thaddeus has the worst trouble with his ward. Thaddeus then dares Caleb to marry off his unmarriageable ward. Caleb wonders what is wrong with his ward, Diana Middleton, beside her advanced age of twenty-five. When Caleb learns the true reason of Diana wanting to fix everything people’s lives especially he is up for the challenge or at least he thinks he is. When Caleb comes into contact with Diana he is intrigued and of course not willing to sacrifice the little bet he made. Caleb is determined to win and find a husband for Diana but the more he spends time with her the more he realizes she could be the perfect wife for him despite the bet. Can Caleb convince Diana that marriage to him will be the best adventure yet or is she resigned to be a wallflower?
This might be the first book in a brand new wonderful regency romance series it still manages to bring a great story and some great characters into the mix. The book is nicely told even with its short length the author keeps us engaged from the beginning to the end. There is a little choppiness to the story but it’s a sweet one filled with some laugh out loud moments that can make anyone smile. Even the cover is beautiful! Unfortunately some of the heroine and hero’s quirks aren’t really explained fully so trying to figure out their true motives is a bit shady. Caleb isn’t portrayed in the best light his introduction to Diana comes off as high-handed and pompous then again he being a duke doesn’t help matters. Diana the high strung mouthy heroine did come off as endearing but at times she also seemed a bit annoying. The best part is possibly when both Diana and Caleb learn to not only care for each other but their meddling family becoming a bit more human. It will be interesting to read the rest in the series and see if the others find their happily ever after and true loves.

I thought this was well written, and a fun historical romance. I loved the premise and thought Dianna was an excellent heroine. Her passion for improving measurements was a fantastic element. Will read the rest of the series.

I wanted to be part of the story so badly! You must read this book and follow Diana and Cole's story to the end. This book absolutely delivers!

Erica Ridley is a very talented author. This new series that she co-authored with Darcy Burke is a wonderful series. This first book seems to start out like many of her other books. I was a bit confused at first so that is why I gave it 4 stars. Once you get into this book and this series, you won't want to put them down. They are shorter stories and that allows the reader to flip from story to story rather quickly. I loved that each story takes between two and three hours for me to read. It allows me to get to know the characters, and slowly get to know all of London.
This book is very cute. The Duke of Colehaven, like most Dukes, loves a wager. When he is on a lucky streak, and a new wager comes his way, he believes that it will be a simple affair. Little does he know that the girl he is supposed to marry off, doesn't want to marry anyone. She dresses in clothing to match the walls in each of the house parties she attends. She is a new definition of wallflower, and no man is likely to give her any notice.
Can the Duke of Colehaven succeed without losing his heart in the process?

This is the start of a new series for Erica Ridley. I have to say I just didn’t love this as much others by her. DIana is a mathematician and loves trying to fix the world and denies herself a life. I think she had a good cause but her blind devotion was very annoying. She drove me crazy. The story was okay just not a huge fan of the her.

This was short but sweet love story. My first ever from Ms Ridley. Will read her more often. Like the story and characters. Great love story.

Ridley has begun weaving themes of longing for personal fulfillment into her romances. In this case, the Duke of Colehaven grew up as a poor relation, and his love for his sister Felicity helps him keep his humanity when the title and riches come his way. Still, he is given a reason to live by when he comes across Diana, a supposed 'wallflower' with a secret passion for reform of the realm of weights and measures.

You will not be disappointed as Ridley's deft insight into human nature works its alchemy on lovers and brewing.

This is a fun start to a series, written by Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke. The books can stand alone, but work okay alone. I read them out of order, which was a little disconcerting, but tolerable. I found the h a little unbelievable, as she has self appointed herself as an agent to correct the inequalities of scales and measures throughout London and then Britain. In her pursuit of said interest, she ventures into shops and markets throughout the city. The H has taken a wager to find said h a husband before the next few weeks, and in doing so, finds himself drawn to her. I liked the H more than the h, but did find it a quick easy summer read.

The Duke Of Colehaven can't pass up a wager. When he promises his friend that he will find a suitor for his ward. Cole is sure that he'll win, until he meets Diana. She's an original. She's intelligent, with a mind for numbers and a desire to help the common man. However, society would never approve of her talents. I liked her and so does Colehaven. He is drawn to her. I enjoyed the battle of wills between these two. Their dialogue is humorous. These two are worthy adversaries and lovers. I was hooked on this story. I enjoy the writing of Erica Ridley. Her characters are spirited and smart. It's easy to connect with them. The setting is perfect. It highlights the restrictions a lady faced in society. I loved seeing how Diana's responds. I can't wait for more of her signature romances.

Its a Buy Buy Buy book.
Erica Ridley does it again. She has written a wonderful tongue in cheek humorous romance. This one kept me smiling and turning the pages. It really is a very delightful start to a new series. While not completely historically accurate, who really cares as it is a fictional story. One that keeps your interest and keeps you smiling. I so enjoy her writing, she brings the characters to life and lets the reader escape into another world. For a nice relaxing time, buy the book and just sit and enjoy a wonderful escape. While there are a few things if you are extremely picky when reading a romance that could irritate you, set them aside and just enjoy the journey into a world of fictional escape and humor. She really has created a semi modern semi historical interesting story here. Not all about sex so buy and enjoy! Regards to all...... While I received a ARC via NetGalley, I also purchased a copy when this was released.... It is a keeper... for a lighter moment to reread.
