A highly entertaining and fun series. Love the characters and their interaction with each other, especially the cute skunk who only gets a mention in this book. It will be interesting to see where Verity and Ellis end up overall. Fast paced, a bit of darkness and a lot of jerkiness. Loved it.

Verity and Ellis her police boyfriend have come to the Mint Julep Asylum to get information for her resident gangster ghost Frankie to find who killed him.
When the murders start they are all trapped until the murderer is brought to justice. Will the local ghosts help Verity or will she become one of the residents. This is a good fun cozy ghost mystery. You will love Verity trying to see if she can help some of the ghosts reach the light.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Mint Julep Murders sends Verity, Ellis and Frankie to a former insane asylum and things get scary from the get go. When dead bodies start showing up they have to find the murderer before they end up as victims. This addition to the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries isn’t as light hearted as earlier entries but this is a good old fashioned mystery that will have you guessing who dunnit right up to the very end. This one had me sleeping with the lights on.

This is one of my favorite series and I happily await each new book. I love Verity and Frankie. This book is set in Mint Julep Manor which is an old asylum. Verity, Frankie, and Ellis are going there with permission to speak to Bruno who has info about who killed Frankie. The owner has turned the asylum into a haunted house and is thrilled that a real ghost hunter is coming. Then the owner is killed. This book was faster paced which I enjoyed. I liked meeting the other ghosts in the asylum. I'm a little confused about the killer and how the local police can justify that but it is fiction so alls well that ends well. Overall a great read.

Another hit! Really love this series (this is number 8). Verity is off again trying to help her gangster ghost buddy find out about his past. Going to a haunted insane asylum, full of crazy ghosts, is probably not her best idea. Taking her boyfriend Ellis along was good thinking though, and when bodies start showing up the game is on. There were only a couple of things that made me give it a 4.5. First off, wanted more of Lucy, the pet skunk, and not sure why Ellis is having second thoughts. Thought they were solid as a couple. Otherwise, highly recommend this book, series and author.

The review is not unbiased because I really love this series (even if the cute pet skunk is only referenced rather than getting a cameo)! Verity became the conduit for ghosts a few years ago, especially her (sometimes unwilling) house ghost, Frankie. On this expedition Frankie wants answers from an old nemesis from Prohibition necessitating a visit to the dilapidated old insane asylum. The police officer/boyfriend, Ellis, insists on coming along for safety, and the whole venture just keeps getting scarier and scarier. No spoilers, just expect lots of surprises! I loved it!

I received a free copy of THE MINT JULEP MURDERS (Book 8 of the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries) by Angie Fox, through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. Ghost Hunter Verity Long is determined to free her gangster ghost pal Frankie from his entrapment. Because all other efforts have failed, Verity is now seeking to solve Frankie’s murder in hope that the truth will set him free. Bruno Scalieri, a deceased mob boss and inmate at the ghost prison, witnessed the crime and can tell them whodunit. The ghost prison is now situated at Mint Julep Manor, which was historically an insane asylum and is currently a haunted hotel. Once Verity and company arrive, there’s a murder and the dominant ghost puts the facility in lockdown, which traps all occupants, living and dead, inside. Can Verity find the killer before all the occupants find themselves dead? Can Verity get Scalieri to talk without giving into his demands?

I love this series! It’s highly entertaining. This was a great book; it contained all of the best parts of classic horror movies while maintaining the sweetness of the main character. I recommend this book and this series to fans of urban fantasy, cozy mysteries, and ghost stories.

Another winner! I love Verity - she is a wonderful character that struggles to do the right thing, even to her own detriment. In this novel, she is at an abandoned insane asylum to help her personal resident ghost, Frankie, get information he needs to separate from Verity. She brings along her beau, Ellis, who is also a cop. Before long the lot of them are trapped in the asylum.

This is an entertaining read with a mystery that kept me guessing until the end. The characters are engaging and made me feel invested in their story. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all.

Fans of the genre will love this book. I'm already looking forward to the next one.
