adult graphic/relationship humor (G-rated, except for one scene where empanada takes a bite out of croquette's ass) cute illustrations, light humor based on modern relationships.

Received a complementary copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange of an honest review. All the following opinions are my own.

I LOVED IT! The book is a collection of short, humourous stories that depict the relationship between Croquette and Empanada. It's a really short read, and the artwork is very cute. The dialogue and the scenarios in the book are not new as such, but they are relatable and funny nonetheless. Would totally recommend this book if you're a fan of Sarah Anderson and Catana Comics!

Cute enough to read but not enough to buy. Color palette complements the narrative, and the snippets of the relationship are relatable.

This comic book is full of illustrations about the daily life of the author and her boyfriend (I think). Some are relatable, some are "how-i-wish-i-experienced-that". Haha The drawings are super adorbs. It's a cutesy and enjoyable read.

Thank you for the free e-copy provided by Andrews McMeel Publishing and the author itself, Ana Oncina via NetGalley.

Such cute foodie-themed comics! This is a collection of short comics featuring Croquette and Empanada, and the silly slice-of-life struggles they face together in their relationship. The artwork is a bit reminiscent of Adventure Time with a comic-like twist and I really dig it. Their facial expressions capture the satirical humor perfectly, and the different circumstances they found themselves in had me nodding my head like yep, yep, yep, can relate. I especially loved the Scary Bedtime Stories, absolute spot-on perfection. While I loved this collection, my only real gripe is that it felt very short and a bit repetitive; I would love to be able to read a full-length graphic novel. Definitely worth a read!

The main this I liked about this was the art, it was very very cute and there is a very nice colour palette used throughout the whole book, someone described it as "soothing" in a review and I think that's a great way to describe it. I think the way the main characters were drawn (as food) was cute but I didn't really understand the relevance of it, the book wouldn't really change much if they were drawn as humans.

I didn't really connect with the humour in this book, sometimes I couldn't see if there was a punchline at all so it kind of failed for me in that way. In one comic in particular the characters are at a party and when the punchline happens the people in the comic panel actually visibly laugh and I really didn't like that.

Overall, pretty cute but just not for me in plot or humour.

Croquette & Empanada is a graphic representation of a couple's relationship. Bits and pieces were cute, but overall most of the segments left me wondering if I stepped into a stereotype or only caught two words of someone else's conversation. I am sure there are readers for Oncina's work, but I can say after reading this book, I am not one of them.

Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy.

This was super cute and adorable as the title and art suggests. It’s a collection of charming couple stories. Some scenarios are relatable for me while others are not so much, but I’m sure anyone who picks up this book will find something that will make them smile or laugh. The author perfectly captures co-living shenanigans from cooking to cleaning to adopting pets.

It is fun to watch the two very different personalities of Croquette and Empanada working together to create a happy home, and grow into a small happy family. Any couple will agree that in any relationship, disagreements will be a part of life, but as long as your love for each other stays, and is nurtured by thoughtfulness and commitment, it will always be a match made in heaven—just like our yummy couple Croquette and Empanada.

That was an entertaining comic book about a croquette and empanada couple and their cute relationship, every day life and problems! It was really sweet and made me laugh and smile at parts, but for me it wasn't the extra funny comic book that you want to read again and again when you're down to cheer up. It was lovely to pass the time of course, it just was not the kind of funny that will make you hold your belly. I loved the illustrations, and I felt for the funny circumstances the food couple finds itself into. I would consider buying the book when it comes out.

First of all thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Review:
This book is a quick and sweet collection of stories about Croquette and Empanada’s life. I loved the “scary bedtime stories” with Empanada stealing all the covers and the stories about their pets.
I think it's adorable that the these characters are actually a croquette and an empanada
Ana Oncina is an amazing illustrator and when I found her account on instagram I was far from disappointed, I probably prefer her usual style over the one she used in this book, but I think this one is adorable!

This was cute enough, but I guess it just didn't really do anything for me. There are so many webcomic creators in the world doing these slice-of-life comics about their relationships right now that you really need to have something unique to set yourself apart, I think. The portrayals of the author and her partner as foods was a cute and unique thing, but everything else just felt so similar to comics I'd seen done ages ago by other artists that I guess it made it hard to get invested.

Thank you so much to the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a cute work in a delightfully surprising way - instead of the collection of sweet couple moments, that I anticipated, it was a light look at many of the common little issues that crop up naturally in any relationship.

This was really cute comic about the relationship of Croquette and Empanada. I liked the scary bedtime stories. Illustrations were really cute.

This is a cute book that would make a correspondingly cute gift for a partner. Croquette and Empanada move in together, argue about cleaning and blankets, and generally do couple things. There’s not really a plot, it’s just little slice-of-life snapshots illustrated in a whimsical manner. If that sounds like the sort of thing you’d like on your coffee table? Worth a look.

Review to be posted on several sources closer to the release date (probably in May).

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I spotted this one on Netgalley and couldn't resist. I just adore cute comics like this, featuring a sweet couple and following them as they live their lives. However, this was slightly different than I had expected. Which mainly had to do that our couple is food-related (Croquette and Empanada) but everyone else (OK, with the exception of two other food-items) is human. It was a bit off and felt weird. I am guessing it has to do with the personalities of these characters that they are portrayed as this, but it just stood out.

I also would have liked to see a bit more romance before they moved together. Now I was introduced to them and within a page or so they moved in together. Some more backstory would have been nice and would have made me root for this couple a bit more. Now at times they just felt like really good friends instead of lovers.

But it was fun seeing how they did their things and how they got along. How they got a cat and a dog, how they went to Berlin and Spain, how they went to parties and concerts, there were several cute-ish Scary Bedtime Stories (one was particularly disturbing though because of what Empanada did there), I had a laugh when he had to leave and wanted to kiss his girl only to have her let it rip while sleeping... I wonder how often I have done that to my fiance... I don't want to ask. :P I was at first worried she had forgotten the birthday and I was already prepared to write something in my review, but I didn't need to have worried.

Also, something that I didn't like... if my fiance/boyfriend was allergic to an animal, I would bring it back. Sorry, allergies are not fun. Allergies suck. Given how he reacted to the cat, he has the same thing as me, and believe me that is just fucking not doable. I just found it very rude that she kept the cat, and also allowed it on the bed, or in the places he was working in. Hello? What the hell?

I guess the characters Empanada drew in the end are how they actually look?

The art was quite adorable, I really like the style and also the colours that were used.

A very adorable book about the trials and tribulations of being in an inter-culinary relationship in the modern world. Great fun and a super interesting read.

This book was a fun collection of Croquette and Empanada’s relationship. It shows the mundane, quirky and irritable happenings of most relationships. One of the comics is about Empanada hogging all of the covers on the bed. It’s funny and sweet.

I never heard about this before... Not sure if the author is posting on social media as well. And seeing that the author is Spanish, it might be reason why I did not see her work before.
I really liked the colour scheme which was really soothing. And it was fun that some "Stories" were just a page or two and some spanned over several pages.

However, after reading all three books by Sarah’s Scribbles and the book by Catana Comics... this felt very similar to those two but unfortunately did not measure up. Or maybe all of the "funny" situations were explored for me. I'm not entirely sure.

What I can say is that I'm definitely craving some croquettes after reading this.

I thought the adventures of Croquette & Empanada were cute and funny. There were definitely some moments that made me laugh out loud (he repeats on you like garlic, lol). It some light hearted humor when it comes to relationships. The drawings are great as well.

A cute collection of comics depicting the adventures of a croquette and empanada. This was a very simple and quick read. I liked this for the most part but the humor was either on point or a complete miss depending on your sense of humor. I could definitely see people enjoying this book though. 6/10 would recommend.
