Mike and Paige's story is a sweet romance of filling needs and voids. Mike wants to become SWAT. Paige wants the white picket fence. They must overcome their differences to become what the other one needs. Throw in a new nephew that Mike is caring for and sparks fly.

I hate giving mediocre reviews, but I didn't love this book. I read it start to finish. I was teary a time or two. I laughed on occasion..... but it didn't really catch my attention. It went on and on and on it seemed... It's a sweet story - tough situation - great people, but something about it just wasn't for me. I guess for me... a mediocre opinion on a (to me) mediocre book. It could have been fabulous.... but seemed repetitive and didn't make me fall in love.

Caring for his newborn nephew was never in the cards for Mike when he had set his sights on being a member of SWAT. Paige Stedler is a social worker who seems to be burnt out caring too much for her clients seems to be bringing her down. While shes on a break she'll help out Mike and the baby as a short term nanny since he needs a bit of Baby 101. The more time spent together and with the babies make things for the future seem more complicated and different and you'd need to read this book to see what happens.

This was a little heart warming book. Mike clearly cared for his little nephew there was plenty of love there as well as for the sister. He wanted to help her so badly and find her. But there's that conflicting notion about his dream job of being a member of the SWAT team. There is so much things to work around that can make things complicated. Then there's Paige who cares a bit too much when it comes to the welfare of those shes trying so badly to help. She can only guide people, aid them in the way that she can within limits and its tough on Paige to see things go downhill sometimes with those shes trying to help. Shes burnt out and shes really got to reconsider if this is something she can really handle. It was interesting seeing her inner thoughts and turmoil of what was happening. I enjoyed seeing how this book played out, seeing how they handled things that were making times tough. There really isn't much to say other then this was a really great book I really enjoyed it.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed reading it. Paige and Mike are characters that you might find in real life. The story flowed smoothly and was easy to follow. The story is not the usual romance and was refreshingly different.
There were some “typesetting” errors at the beginning of each chapter that I found distracting but otherwise the editing was fairly thorough.
I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Mike McMann is a police officer with a new assignment. He actually wants to become a SWAT officer at his previous department. His advancement is thwarted when he is given custody of his newborn nephew. How is Mike going to work and learn to take care of a baby? His new boss recommends a social worker, who is on temporary leave, to act as Mike's nanny during his adjustment period.

Paige Stedler was reaching burnout in her job as a social worker. She has always gotten very invested in the cases she worked on. Now she is requested to help a local police officer and teach him how to care for his nephew. From the start Paige realizes that she has a huge job ahead of her. After all, the officer cannot even pick the baby up without fear of harming him.

Mike and Paige hit it off right away. However, Paige has a lot of baggage due to her job, and Mike aspires more for his career. Nonetheless, the focus must be on the baby and his future. Meanwhile, Mike is very worried about his sister. He understands why she gave the baby up but Mike is very concerned for her well-being.

This is such an emotional story. It is definitely a feel-good story to read. Actually, anything I read by Patricia Johns always makes me smile. It is very easy to be drawn into her characters and their situations, all the while knowing in the end there will be a wonderful resolution. I do look forward to reading much more by this talented author.

Many thanks to Harlequin Heartwarming and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book took a really bad situation and made the most of it. A baby born that is going through withdrawal, a brother that can't find his sister and suddenly becomes the guardian of her baby and a woman who is putting herself on the line everyday and has nothing left to give. All comes together in this heartwarming story of happiness, sadness, growth, and shattered lives. Lines are drawn, where will everyone end up?

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Wonderfully heartwarming!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I just LOVED this story. What a heart-wrenching one. Mike's sister ran away from home fifteen years earlier which she shared with Mike and their Grandmother. Mike became a cop hoping to right the wrongs and protect people with his sister. He has searched for her for years since she was gone. Mike is transferred to Eagle's Rest (kind of a demotion) from Denver. But this way he can get into SWAT training so much easier. He gets a call that his sister had a baby and signed little Benjamin over to him. What is a big, strapping man who knows how to shoot a gun and take down the bad guys supposed to do with a newborn? His chief called in the best social service worker in the Eagle's Rest, Paige. Paige is on 3 weeks of extended leave due to stress. She loves her job and is again the best but it has taken a toll on her soft heart. Paige will teach Mike how to properly care for Benjie.

This story is one that really touched my heart. It was so sad at times and frustrating at others. Both Mike and Paige want different things and are so totally different. How can they overcome such adversaries?

This story was written in my favorite dual POV. Getting into the characters' mind and seeing how they respond to the different situations is a big plus for me. I can really identify with them so much better.

I highly recommend this story to everyone.
