Sexy as sin, The Rebel and the Cowboy is the second book in Sarah Mayberry’s Carmody Brothers series set in Marietta Montana. I couldn’t help but like the characters in this story - the Carmody family is close and clearly cares about each other, while Eva King, artist extraordinaire, is dedicated and hard working and completely devoted to her craft. She is definitely a woman to admire and I certainly did, but when she’s paired with Casey Carmody, the hero of this story, she ramps it up a notch. Casey is a complex character - he’s clearly dedicated to keeping his family ranch afloat yet when he’s singing or writing his music he is obviously utterly absorbed in it. I loved the way Casey triggered Eva’s creative ideas and the way she fought for him to have a chance of living his own dream.
This story is well paced with an interesting plot. It’s a quick read and a satisfying one largely because the characters are well drawn and have just enough little issues in their lives to keep you turning the pages. There were times when I was amazed by Casey’s talent and other times when I wanted to knock some sense into him. As for Eva - well anybody could see that somebody with as much spunk and determination as she has would chase her stars and grab them with both hands. Thoroughly entertaining reading!

Cowboys are not an auto-buy for me. But Sarah Mayberry is (so consider that as you read the review). I have also read and reviewed the previous book in this series (and really liked it).

I always appreciate how Mayberry crafts her love interests. Here we have two people with an understanding and a connection because they're both artists (he's a singer/songwriter, she crafts enormous public murals). At the same time, they have telling differences: he's insisted that his music has to take a back seat to his family's struggling ranch, while she's running after her arts dream after being in the shadow of an ex for too long.

So, when fame comes knocking for him, he runs from it instead of toward it. A classic selfless hero, he doesn't realize he's robbing his family and other loved ones of their own choices. The HEA is a struggle, not a glide, making for nice, chewy reading. My only real objection is that the ending seems a little rushed.

That being said, I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

This series is a must read for me. I loved the first book (which you do not have to read in order to enjoy this one) and I think this one was even better. Eva was my kind of heroine. She was strong, smart, and saucy. She comes into town hoping to win a bid to create a mural on a grain silo against her ex. Meeting a sexy cowboy that she cannot resist is not on her agenda but Casey is the kind of of man you rearrange your plans for. When one night turns into two, which then turns into three they need to evaluate if there is more than just attraction between them. This book was steamy while still being sweet and funny. I cannot wait for book three.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I very much enjoyed this latest installment of the Carmody family. Casey and Eva made a great couple, both artistic in different ways and able to truly support each other's talents and ambitions - even when they were getting in their own way. Would have loved to see more of Eva's awful ex-boyfriend/boss. I can't wait for the remaining Carmody sibs to find love.

I really enjoyed this story!

I thought that it flowed very well and it was a really easy story to read and follow. I can say that I happily devoured the whole thing in a few hours and enjoyed every page.

I thought that the characters were strong, they worked really well together and I loved their interaction throughout the book. It is five stars from me for this one, I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it!

I'm not really a fan of Cowboys, but at this point I'll read anything Sarah Mayberry writes. She's one of my go-to authors whenever I'm in the mood for a fun, steamy contemporary romance, and she never disappoints!

This has a wonderful family (which we were introduced to in The Cowboy Meets His Match; this works perfectly as a standalone, though), hilarious bickering, two equally strong-willed and independent main characters (who are so wonderfully well-matched!), and quite a lot of steam. It was funny as well as sexy, with good character development, and all around a wonderful read! I did worry at the beginning that Casey might be a bit too macho/alpha/bossy for my tastes, but he more than found his match in Eva, and takes as good as he gives.

Pluses: enjoyed the musician plotline, loved the hero's family, liked the heroine-in-pursuit at the beginning (normally it is the hero that is in pursuit), Mayberry's voice is engrossing

Minuses: I just don't like cowboy/ranch setting, not a fan of the black moment in this book

I like Sarah Mayberry's voice a lot, but cowboys just aren't my thing. But if you are a fan of SM and enjoy cowboys, chances are that you'll enjoy this book. It was a decent read even if it wasn't my favorite.

hi, i love sarah mayberry. the end.

jk.

when i saw this on netgalley, i couldn't grab it fast enough. i didn't realise it was the second in a series, which is a bummer because i like to read things in order, even if you don't 'need' to. but no big, the characters in the first show up in this one for like 2 seconds. i can't wait to read the other books in the series, i hope sierra gets a book - even though on goodreads it says 'carmody brothers series'. anywho.

one of the main reasons i love sarah mayberry is that she's australian. i was a wee bit bummed that this book is very much not set in Oz, but i have plenty of her backlist to work through and i know there's some aussie ones in there to satisfy my homesickness :) either way, i honestly don't understand why her books aren't more popular. get it together people, read her books!

but lets get to the point of the review, the actual book! i loved it. duh. i loved casey, i loved eva. i loved them together. their chemistry was off the charts, but so was their banter. i giggled so many times. it's definitely a steamy book, especially for how short it is. the conflict is fairly predictable in that you know what's going to happen when one character thinks they are doing the right thing, but i liked that it was resolved in a less than predictable way (spoiler, can't tag on netgalley, i liked that she decided not to run away). i also liked that the ex played a part but not in the big conflict - i was worried he was gonna come back and do something nasty. overall, this was a seriously delightful read, funny, sexy, adorable, well written, great characters, fast paced and fairly low angsty read. i really really liked it and hope everyone else does too.

also, side note, had no idea what a grain elevator was, went through most of the book thinking it was, like, a random elevator just hanging out in a car park or something. then i googled it and so many things made way more sense.

The Rebel and The Cowboy by Sarah Mayberry. Book two in The Carmody Brothers series. A great addition to the series. I enjoyed reading more about Casey Carmody and when he meets Urban Artist Eva. A plot that pulled me in from the first page. Looking forward to reading next book in the series.

The Rebel and the Cowboy is part of the Carmody Family series. It is a stand alone book, I recommend reading the first book in the series. Casey and Eva come from different worlds and immediately have an intense reaction to each other. Sarah Mayberry is a favorite author of mine. She always delivers. This book is perfect for anyone who loves cowboys and a HEA.

The Rebel and The Cowboy is a steamy romance that follows Eva, an artist who travels to the country to try to secure a commission for a large work of art. When her hotel loses her reservation, she is forced to seek lodging elsewhere and winds up renting a trailer on a family ranch, where she meets Casey. Casey is the quintessential cowboy, working on the family cattle ranch and playing in a band on the side. The two meet and sparks fly immediately, but they both try to hold back because they know Eva will be leaving soon. Things turn sexual quickly, and they have what they believe is a one night stand. I really appreciated that it was Casey who was hesitant to start anything with Eva, because he knows that he is not built for casual sex and prefers feelings be involved. It was a refreshing take on a romance that I haven’t seen in the past - Eva is definitely the aggressor in the beginning. I didn’t love that things heated up so quickly (or so frequently), because it detracted from the building of the relationship, but the chemistry was obvious between the two. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I was introduced to a new author and an enjoyable romance with a sweet and sexy cowboy.

An enjoyable book to read. It was somewhat predictable but it had some nice characters (I've not read any of the series) and a decent enough storyline to keep you entertained.

The story of Casey and Eva, the latest book in the Carmody series.

They meet when Eva rents the airstream on the Carmody farm. Eva is only in town for a few days, and even though Casey doesn't usually do casual flings, he can't keep away from her.

THE REBEL AND THE COWBOY by Sarah Mayberry is the second book in the Carmody Family series. It's a wonderful series about a family of four siblings in small town rural Montana. This story is about Casey, a cowboy with an incredible voice and songwriting talent. It's also about Eva, an artist commissioned to do a mural for the town. The Carmody Family is struggling financially and Casey is fully committed to making the ranch succeed. I went through many different emotions reading this story! This is a story you don't want to miss!

This is the second book in a series about the three Carmody brothers. In this book Casey Carmody, a full-time rancher and part-time musician meets artist Eva after his sister Sierra rents Eva a trailer on their ranch for a few nights. Casey and Eva have instant chemistry and partake in what they expect to be a one-night stand. After all, Sierra only expects to be in Marietta for a few days. Well, a few days turns into a week, and then several weeks. As Eva’s career as an artist takes off, so does Casey’s as a musician. Unfortunately, Casey’s dedication to the family ranch makes him believe that he can’t have both the ranch and music. Can Casey forgive what he believes to be a betrayal by Eva as she tries to make his dream a reality?
