Wow, Bed, Breakfast & Beyond was definitely a labor of love. This memoir was written in a way that was engaging and made you feel you were right there along restoring this beautiful property.

We find a dilapidated building set at Fairwinds farm during September of 1998. Nestled on a 52-acre property Ted and JoAnn Dawson begging the restoration process. They walk us through every detail and in the end, we find a remarkable beautifully restored building that can now be shared with others.

It's a great story and I really enjoyed reading this memoir.

I wonder how many people watching the Bob Newhart show years ago where he and his television wife owned a bed and breakfast thought it would be fun to live like that? I know I did. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity to read this memoir.

JoAnn Dawson has a delightful way of spinning a story so that all the important facts are included to make it enjoyable. The intriguing details about the funny and at times, rude guests at their bed and breakfast were often so funny, I found myself laughing out loud. Human nature being what it is, you never know how people will behave.

Their experiences included animals from a small zoo showing up unexpectedly to customers who didn't quite realize that a working farm stay might come with some surprises.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book; although, I think running a bed and breakfast might be better left to someone like the Joann than me.

There are many of us who feel that running a B&B is idyllic. This story gives us the inside information on how idyllic it is!

It was always JoAnn and to a lesser extent her husband Ted's ambition to own a place of their own. Running a horse(y) type of business offering services to trainers and owners is quite a different kettle of fish to running a B&B but when they found an acreage and a house which would offer them both there was little hesitation in taking it on.

A massive reconstruction and salvage operation on the house to make it habitable, running the horse business as well saw them at their full potential. The stories on a day to day basis are matter of fact, tongue in the cheek humour as well as a lot of love and affection for their livelihood and the business they run.

Anecdotes of guests (both good and strange!) are all part of the human interest of the story. Very down to earth and hilarious at the same time this was excellent reading.

At times this book had me laughing out loud and attracting the odd glance or two during my commute to work. Although it was a relatively short book the author managed to pack it with a lot of entertaining stories involving people and animals.
I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys an easy read, stories drawn from real life, animals or just wants to laugh at someone else experiences of running a B and B come horse motel. This seemed like a really genuine story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading of the ups and downs of running a B and B.

Bed, Breakfast & Beyond is the story of a couple’s dream to own a bed & breakfast. It gives the reader an insight into the day to day operations, the variety of guests that they have hosted and the pleasures they have derived from their enterprise.

This book is a heartwarming tale about their adventures, the more humorous aspects of their job and the unexpected results that have occurred. The stories are varied and well-written. Some were laugh-out-loud and others made me pause for reflection. All in all, this is a book that the reader will savor.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

This is a memoir of a family starting/owning a B&B.
The stories told were easily relatable and fun to read. Her writing style was comforting. There are a few stories about their horses and experiences running the b&b.
