This book was such a delight to read and my only regret is that I didn't pick it up sooner! What's not to like about a book that's centered around getting ready for a Highland games festival set in the South and even involves some sexy Scottish visitors?

What starts out as an attempt from Alasdair Blackmoor to rescue is uncle from a possible fiasco that his mother was made aware of, turns into so much more than he was expecting and yet it just may be the very thing that he needed to get out of the rut he's found himself in. He won't know what hit him once he lays eyes on a certain feisty southern gal named Isabel who is equal parts clumsy, sweet, funny and just the kind of woman that Alasdair needs in his life.

I'd rather not give spoilers away since it's still a fairly new series but I highly recommend checking it out especially if you enjoy reading about modern day Highlanders, a quaint town who very much gets into the Scottish spirit of Highland games, fun antics and some very interesting sexy scenes. Looking forward to continuing this series!

Please note that I was sent a review copy via Netgalley through the publisher though it doesn't affect my thoughts in any way.

Laura Trentham had me at "A Highlander Walks into a Bar." Seriously, this is a fun read and I would read it again. The relationship between Izzy and Alasdair makes for an entertaining night of reading. I will say I thought at times Izzy was pitiful/whiney. Kind of like a spoiled brat. It was refreshing to see the romance of Izzy's mother and Alasdair's father play out. I look forward to the future reads in this series. Special thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book for my honest review!

Laura Trentham is one of my favorite authors, she never fails to get me gripped into a story, that is pretty much going to emotionally rip me apart. But with A Highlander Walks into a Bar, she took it in another direction of a fun, sweet romance, which I completely enjoyed

Isabel Buchanan is a red-headed accountant with a fiery personality and you cannot help but love her passion, not only for her Mom but also for the Highland Games her father set up in the little southern town, that her mother and Isabel had run since he passed away. You also have to imagine her shock when her Mom walks in with a new man in tow, closely followed by his handsome nephew Alasdair Blackmoor determined on protecting his uncle, and as you can imagine, the fun and games begin, and not just in their small town highland games!

A Highlander Walks into a Bar is such a refreshing story, funny, cute and romantic, one that branches out into later in life romance, and doesn't just stick to young love, and for that and many other reasons it this book warms my heart!

Really enjoyed this book - fun characters, fun plot and I like a book that sets up its next installment well.

I admit, I like bubbly romance that makes me swoon. I like historical romance, especially with a cute highlander in it. I find cheesy romances fun. This book was everything I wanted. Laughter, romance and sweet plot!

A Highlander Walks Into A Bar is a delightfully fun and swoony novel that will keep you up at night. I laughed and sighed all the way through it and I hated to see it end. My kind of romance.

Cute. LOADS of chemistry. Charming characters, predictable story, but still enjoyable. Obvious but cute setup for the next installment. The epilogue does not tie up any loose ends other than ham-handedly announce a new arrival.

This one was just pure fun I'm kinda sorry I put it off for so long...but lift got in the way. Izzy is not happy when she picks her mother up from the airport after her vacation and she has way too much luggage and has come home with a souvenir in the form of a 6 foot tall Scottish man. If that is bad enough, another man turns up looking for him. Alasdair has come to Highland, Georgia, looking for his uncle to bring him home. He has his work cut out for him. First his uncle tells them he is the caretaker when he is really the Earl and Alasdair doesn't tell them he is his nephew. Goodness! Then he tries to figure out what is really going on and looks into their finances since that is his background and his firm goes after their property. Good golly! Izzy is busy with getting everything ready for the festival and with Alasdair following her around and the chemistry between them these two are something. Twists and turns and tartans and a kilt and this was such a splendid story. I am looking forward to the next one!

4.5 stars

It's been a while since I've read a M/F story that wasn't in a series I've been following for years already so when I saw this one, I was very intrigued because I love books with Scottish characters. And I was not disappointed with this one. I loved that Izzy was a mix of sassy and clumsy and how she tried so hard not to like Alasdair or his uncle. I also really loved how charming Alasdair was and how he couldn't help but find Izzy endearing.

I really, really loved this one but it was a little too predictable, which I won't lie I did enjoy, but I wanted things to be a little more unique with these two. Also, just as a side note and maybe I'm not getting it? But Alasdair walks into a coffee shop, not a bar? So not really sure why the title is labeled as it is or maybe I missed something?

All in all, I really enjoyed this story and these characters. I loved that Izzy was so hellbent on not wanting to like Alasdair but neither Alasdair or Izzy could help but fall for the others' charms and I enjoyed seeing the two work together toward the Highland Games. I also really loved the ending and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This book is hot, hot, HOT! I was drawn in by the cheeky title and handsome man in a kilt on the cover, so I stayed for the story. So cute!

A Highlander Walks into a Bar is an adorable romance. I loved the small Southern town full of fun characters. Good romantic escape. I can't wait to read the next installment. Thanks St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC of this title for review.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author Laura Trentham for giving me this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to receive this one because I had previously read "Til I Kissed You" by this author and had loved it. The premise of this one is fantastic. I loved this book, but for some reason I'm struggling to write a review. That being said, I know I'll be reading the rest of the series as soon as they're published.

I took a break for several months in the middle of this one because I wasn't ready for it to be over. and it was incredibly easy to just step right in again like no time had passed. This story really sweeps you away.

I liked this more than other similar romance novels by a lot. One of my favorite things was that when the big fight happened the men had actually done something stupid, and it wasn't just another case of miscommunication like in so many other books.

These characters were complex and endearing and really enjoyable to read about.

Overall, I would highly recommend this one to anyone who loves Highlanders, sweet southern belles, and happy endings (where you still end up crying).

While I am still a few days from having my toes in the sand, this is the perfect beach read. Full of family, hot Highlanders, and friendship.

A fun story, if a bit predictable. An enemies to lovers story, I liked the characters, and how each was devoted to their family (sometimes to their own detriment). Protective natures come to play, leaving us fighting, then working together, then getting together. The pacing was good, and the romance developed well. Hot Scotsmen in kilts...what more could you want. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

To say this book was disappointing would be an understatement. I had high hopes going in from a cute cover to a sweet synopsis, I was excited to finally start this story. Only my excitement rapidly dwindled over the course of the novel, so much so that when I got to the end of the story, I was happy it was finally over.

So first off, I have to nit-pick the cover, which the colors are not the Blackmoor tartan which are mentioned numerous times throughout the story as green and gray. Now normally this wouldn't bother me but considering the entire story is about two Scots in America for a Highlands festival, yeah I am going to complain.

In terms of characters, the Isabel described in the synopsis and the one in the book are two completely different people. Isabel has extreme mood swings, to the point where I wondered if she was bipolar. She would be seething and glaring one moment and then reminiscing about her father the next paragraph. There was no fluidity to her character, she was fickle and unrelate-able. She is portrayed as accident proned but instead of being charming and silly, it is cringey and uncomfortable.

Alasdair, is good looking, but the romance doesn't really expand beyond a general attraction to each other. There is no depth to Isabel and Alasdair's interactions and everything happens so fast that you are left wondering how we went from animosity to steamy sex. The plot itself had so much potential, but the execution of the story was sloppy and disconnected.

The book was missing that special magic that sucks you in. I was never transported to Highland; instead of immersing myself in a new world, I read the whole story as an outsider. I think this was a combination of the writing style not being for me but also the synopsis was just so vastly different from the story I read, leaving me one disappointed reader.

I have read several books by Mrs. Trentham and enjoyed them all. I am very excited about this new series "A Highland, Georgia Novel".

Isabel and Alasdair are very different however they have one thing in common and that is family legacy. Isabels mom is constantly into something and very much a free spirit which makes Isabel have to be the responsible one. Alasdair is also one who is tied to family principles and loyalty.

Isabel and Alasdair meet when Isabels mom comes back from Scotland with a boyfriend. Her moms boyfriend is Alasdairs uncle. Once Alasdair realizes that his uncle has left Scotland to come to America with a woman he is sent by his mom to bring him back to Alasdair. Isabel instantly things something is up with Alasdair and her radar really starts pinging when she meets Alasdair. Basically Isabel and Alasdair do not trust each other but they also can't fight the attraction either.

This is a fun book with two people trying to keep their family out of trouble who end up falling in love. They are both very serious who need a little bit of fun and love. This is wrote in a dual POV.

I received an advanced copy for an honest review.

This was an interesting concept but ultimately fell a little flat for me. It wasn't a bad story, and some hot/cute/amusing/sweet moments, but I wish that Izzy and Alasdair had a little more "connection" - for some reason, their relationship felt kind of rushed to me. It was clear throughout the book that this was the first book in a series, with some additional character introductions that will clearly appear in subsequent books, which is absolutely fine, but I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of blatant "set up the next book in the series" epilogues which is what happened here. Overall not a bad story, but I wish it had been a bit "more".

Let me just say it not the type of bar you think it is. And second sometimes leaving something out is not a bad thing, but it still hurts.

Laura Trentham brings us a serious rom-com of two worlds colliding but really they are the same world just on different continents. Everything starts that one day at the airport and a surprise that was really a surprise.

Izzy's life takes a turn ten years earlier when her life's dreams were changed to accommodate a legacy. Alasdair world changed when his father died and words were exchanged that changed the course of the future. Now, today he finds that one little sexy, sassy, firecracker changes his world in more ways than one.

Trentham gives us not just one sexy highland Scotsman but two that turn around the meaning of highland games in small-town Highland, GA. Two romances, two couples, four individuals we get to know and love and give our hearts to. Along with several friends, a small-town, one replica castle, a festival, and proving worth for the love you thought you would never have.

I am most certainly looking forward to the next installment of small-town Highland, GA and the Scotsman that will find that it all can't be done alone.
