What a wonderful find.

Silenced by the Grave has demons, vampires, vampire hunters and it's set in Paris. The perfect combination for a great sci-fi novel.

Once you begin, you won't stop until the last page, it's that compelling.

Vampire hunters Jess Vandermire and John Brittain are supposed to be relaxing in the Paris , the City of Lights after putting down a demon attack the previous month .
But all is not quite as it seems - a serial killer is on the loose , a secret society is pulling strings in the background and the vampires are stirring . Jess's newly discovered twin is also in the mix - stirring up trouble - not for the better .
Jess has worries coming out of her ears - what is Britt up to helping the police , what is her brother , the Priest , keeping from her and does she need to worry about Veronique ?

This is another well crafted book by the Author continuing the adventures Jess Vandermire which I thoroughly enjoyed
I was given an arc of this book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review

Vampire hunters Jess Vandermire and John Brittain are supposed to be relaxing in the City of Lights while Jess’s brother, Regent, a Catholic priest, fulfills a three-month assignment. Only their time in Paris so far has been anything but a vacation. Last month, they managed to put down a demon uprising, but that’s nothing compared to what’s going on now. There’s a serial killer on the loose, the vampires are on the verge of civil war, and behind it all, there’s a secret society pulling the strings. If that isn’t bad enough, Jess’s newfound twin sister is stirring up trouble everywhere she goes. But Paris is a dark place, alive with shadows of the past. If Jess and Britt don’t find some answers soon, mankind could become enslaved forever.
This was a decent read. My biggest problem was that it was the second book that was a continuation from the first book and the there wasn’t explanations for those that hadn’t read the first book. That made it hard to really get into the characters and everything they were dealing with.

Jess and Britt are back and they are still in Paris with her brother Regent but someone is killing women and it looks like a vampire and Britt has been asked to help in the case. Jess knows that she can't be involved because of what she is so she will continue to watch Morana as she doesn't trust her at all. She knows that Regent wants them all to be one happy family but there is something not right with Morana and Jess wonders if she knows who is killing the tourists? Jess needs to keep busy as Britt is away helping the police so she starts following her friend Veronique as she fears that she is working with the local vampire Vlad and she wonders if he is the killer. She is worried about her brother as he is involved in something and he won't say what it is and she is afraid that Morana will take advantage of his kindness. Will Jess find out the truth about her past and will she be able to come to terms with having a sister? Will Britt find the killer and save more people from dying? Will Regent find the answers that he needs? Another good read. Can't wait to read the next one. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

I have read this series from the very beginning and have enjoyed watching Jess and Brittain grow in their relationship as they first had to learn to trust each other and as that trust gradually morphed into a deep love. In each successive book their characters have remained true to their original depictions but at the same time also matured into the respected vampire hunters they now are. The only person I didn't feel remained true to his character was Regent. He just came across as way too gullible and easily swayed by his emotions and that is contrary to how he has been portrayed in previous books.
Just who is the serial killer? Maybe it's the vampire we have grown to despise? Maybe it is someone we would never have suspected. No matter what, it will be one wild ride Jess and Britt will be on to get to the truth.

This was my first Lina Gardiner. And it may be my last. The writing did not engage me and the characters felt flat. I was drawn to the story because of the landscape. I do most of my traveling via books, and Paris is of particular interest to me. The author didn't bring the environment to life for me either. It's Paris for crying out loud. I don't need to smell the beignets, but some ambiance would have been nice.

I can't believe I'm saying this about a Vampire 'Vampire Hunter' story. It all felt a bit meh. Sorry, but I wanted more from the characters. And from the story if it comes to that. There is room in this story for a lot of excitement It's a cool premise, and I like most of the characters. But every speck of my interest vanished when I realized the MC is another female who hates herself for something she has absolutely no control over.

Yes, she's a vampire.
Does she run around bleeding random strangers dry? No.
Is she planning world Domination? No.
Does she scare small children? No.

She's a powerful force for good. A cop doing everything she can to keep dangerous vampires from running amok. A fierce partner, loving sister. But by her own edict she is evil. She has difficulty dealing with all her "evil". And all this "I am evil" BS has been going on for 6 books now. Honestly, if she can't find it in herself to accept her "inner vampire' I'm certainly not going to.

I'm giving this one 3 stars instead of the 2 I originally intended because Jess makes me so crazy with her "I am evil" crap it's possible I'm punishing the story in her place.

I received a review copy from netgalley. These are my honest thoughts.

I was given an ARC by NetGalley, thanks to them, the author and the publisher.
This is the second in a trilogy featuring Jess Vandermire, a vampire who hunts and kills other vampires. The story line is not especially original, the characters are not very interesting and the book ends with a cliffhanger. Really got tired of this girl constantly declaring how evil she was and how her behavior is so terrible, yet she is the heroine of the story. Just an ok read.

A big thank you to NetGalley and BelleBooks/ImaJinn books for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 2nd book in the series, it is my opinion that you need to read them in order. I read the first one, but it was a while ago, and I was still confused. I can just imagine coming in blind. I think there is to much backstory for this to read well as a stand alone. I found this to be complicated but interesting. Morana was a new twist. It has a little of everything, intrique, suspense, romance, paranormal and fantasy. I rate this a 3.5.

This review isn't going to be long. I'm not a huge fan of a review rehashing the entire plot and spoiling it for everyone.

This is the second book by Lina Gardiner that I have read. I was hooked from the first chapter. This is a riveting series. I now have purchased the rest of the series.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

Jess and John are still in Paris after they thwarted the demon uprising. A vampire serial killer is on the loose and terrorizing the city. A hidden vampire cult centuries old has reared its head, and it has designs on Jess. Good mystery, lots of action, very little romance. Lots of unanswered points left for the last book in the trilogy. I voluntarily reviewed this book for Netgalley.

I am happy I requested this book because I discovered a great urban fantasy series.
This book is engaging, entertaining and fun to read.
I loved the cast of characters, the humour and the plot that kept me hooked till the last page.
I will surely read the previous installment and look forward to reading the next one.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

I have read every book in this series, and I think this was the best one yet. Every book has an excellent plot, wonderful writing, and I never want to put the book down. However, in this one Jess has, for the most part, stopped being as “whiney” as she was in the others. I know she thinks she’s a bad, evil person, but she’s been this way for years; shouldn’t she have come to terms with this one way or another? She’s much better about it in this one, and that has really been my only large complaint about the series. Oh, and her boyfriend Britt’s name drives me crazy because I keep thinking he’s a girl! LOL! Other than that, this series is a great way to pass the time if you love urban fantasy! I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
