First thank you to Netgalley for allowing me the arc, which has sat in my shelf for way too long.
This book was better then I expected, after reading so many thrillers mysteries etc they start to feel like the same story just different characters, but this one didn’t do that I definitely didn’t see the twist and the person I though it could be totally wasn’t. This book kept me guessing until the end.,definitely going to continue the series now! Don’t you love when u find a new author to love

Katie Scott is an appealing character, police woman add military veteran working to help out her Uncle a local sheriff as she learns to deal with anxiety and PTSD with the the help of her amazing service dog Cisco (who's amazing)

The tale keeps you involved and turning pages, and also showcases the authors expertise in criminology and forensics. Its a solid start to what promises to be a great series.

A good solid start to a series with a likeable protagonist and interesting storyline. It was a little bit cheesy in places but didn’t detract from my enjoyment at all. Look forward to getting to know Katie better in future books

This book had me hooked from the first chapter. I read this in book in just two nights only because I had to work and was forced to put it down till the next day. What a fantastic read, This thriller kept me on a roller-coaster all the way to the last page. I wish I could have read it sooner, and I am already ordering the rest in the series!! Wonderful read, thank you!

Little Girls Sleeping is a well written, tightly plotted, police procedure with an interesting protagonist. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Little Girls Sleeping was a quick read for me because I skimmed most of it. I wasn't particularly invested but at the same time I wanted to know how the book would wrap up.
I've seen this is the first in a large series so hopefully this was a blip as the series sets itself up. I would probably give the next book a go but wouldn't be rushing.
The aspect of this book I most enjoyed was the character of Kate Scott the main detective, she was thoughtful and well written - I'd like to see how she develops over the rest of the books.

A new series with currently 6 published and one which will be published in May. I go into every new series with trepidation as current Crime thriller series I already read are always going to be a hard act to follow.

This one though started out slower than I’d hoped. It lost my interested for a few chapters but picked up again at about 50%. After that I couldn’t put it down.

I found Jennifer Chase to be a great writer despite the smal blip at the beginning but soon realised with this being a new detective series it was obviously going to be a slow burn novel as we learn about the characters, setting and team.

By the end of the novel I was just hooked and it ended on a great high! This will be a series I will definitely continue to follow. I’m going straight on to book two Her Last Whisper

This book took a while to get into, it’s different from what I’ve usually read in crime drama.
Good first introduction to a series, will be interesting to see where the future books take us with our main character

I enjoyed this and the fact that at times the writing gave me the chills. Characters were believable except the main one did seem to do as she pleased a little too much.
Had me guessing until the end

I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first book I've come across by this author but it definitely won't be my last. It reminded me a bit of the Gina Harte series by carla kovach. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading more in the series and seeing Katie solve more cold cases. I only deducted a star because I would have liked the killer to have been brought to justice. It was a great twist though!

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

The killer poses the bodies. Little girls, arms wrapped around teddy bears, appearing to sleep peacefully. When eight-year-old Chelsea Compton is discovered missing in Pine Valley, California, Detective Katie Scott is disturbingly reminded of her friend that had gone missing at summer camp two decades before. So, Katie takes Chelsea's case quite personally.

Sadly, and rather triggering, Katie soon discovers that Chelsea is not the only girl gone missing for quite some time. As a matter of fact, the cold cases of several missing girls keeps piling up. Katie is determined to find a pattern, a way to link all of the disappearances together. She truly hopes that the graves she has discovered, with the posed bodies of small children, that Chelsea will not be among them.

Before Katie can even find Chelsea, another girl has gone missing, thus raising the bar and intensifying Katie's search. Meanwhile, the constant reminders of her friend all those years ago is constantly plaguing her.

Wow! What a way to start a new series! The tension begins right from the very start, delivered in a very fast pace, even with the mix of past and present. Any time I start a new series, I look for a way to connect with the primary protagonist. That was easy to do in this book because Katie's feelings were palpable, making me think and worry just as she was doing.

This thrilling book kept me on my toes from beginning to end. I was eager to move right on to the second book in the series, Her Last Whisper.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Disclaimer: I received an arc of this book in exchange of an honest review.

I don't know what it was but this book just didn't do it for me.

It had an interesting premise but it kind of just fell flat. The main character isn't very likeable or redeeming to me - she's very one dimensional and plain. Even though we're with her through the whole book I never got a good feel for it and she seemed to lack any real personality. Actually, I felt that way with a lot of the characters. We never learn much about them so it's hard to care or really get into the story.

A lot of the dialogue also seemed cheesy to me in places it was suppose to be scary.

I personally would skip but other reviews seem to like it so maybe it was just me 🤷

My thoughts

Would I recommend it?Yes

Would I read more of this series? Yes

Would I read more by this author? Yes

This is a first in a series that main character Kaite and her dog Cisco are home for good after doing tours in Afghanistan. I should also note that the main character suffers from suffering from anxiety and PTSD , so if you think that might be a trigger warning for some of you then you might want to pass this series by but if you think you can handle it then you have to check it out. Because if your looking for a story that doesn't let go , and the right from the start the characters (at least some of them) become your favorite, as well as the pace is fast and the more you read the more you want to see what happens next then this might just be for you, plus the main character Kaite comes off as a strong yet vulnerable female character who isn't going to let her PTSD overcome her and stop her from what she wants to do, so with that said said I want to thank NetGalley for letting me read and review it.

I really enjoyed this book. Katie has just returned from Afghanistan and is not sure what her future holds. Her uncle is the local Sheriff and he arranges for her to work in an administrative position whilst she contemplates her next step. Katie accidentally sees a file on a missing girl, a cold case, which sets her imagination running and she is determined to find the missing girl and solve the case. She is not scared of anything or anyone having been in a war zone which is just as well as she uncovers some awful truths. I am hoping there will be a book 2 in the series. As a side note there is definitely more to Templeton than meets the eye!
