The description sounded interesting with a time travelling hero using old fashioned methods to "neutralise the bad guys of today's society". Sadly the book did not live up to those descriptions for me, not helped by having the title and subtitle appearing about every 10 lines in the ebook and splitting sentences. Hopefully something that was sorted in the published edition. It was bitty, the characters shallow almost comic book and the story erratic. I never knew what time I was in, why we were there or anything really. I plugged on to 48% but finally decided that it really really was not for me. It might have been better if I had read the previous Roots but I certainly can't face them now.T hanks to NetGalley and the author for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
