I did not read this book. The file did not open after many attempts to download it and open it. It crashed both Adobe and Bluefire at every step.

I read the first, Keeper so I am giving this book my rating for that.

I absolutely loved this book!
Just like with Keeper, the characters were definitely the strongest aspect of this story. They feel so real and fleshed-out, and their relationships feel incredibly genuine. I love books with strong friendships, and Lainey and Maggie's friendship was one of the best I've ever read. They're loving and supportive of each other, and it's a very equal friendship. With some stories the "best friend character" is just a side character and doesn't get much development, or it's a one-sided friendship, but Lainey and Maggie were both fully-developed characters who gave equally in their friendship. Maggie wasn't just a character development tool for Lainey, she was her own person with her own goals and flaws and personality. It was so refreshing to read!
As far as the plot goes, I really enjoyed that as well. One of my favourite things was that the characters' actions actually had consequences! This is something that's sooo often overlooked, especially in YA, but there was an explanation and a consequence to everything the characters did. Sometimes it was a good thing, sometimes it was a bad thing, but it really made the whole story feel more realistic and believable.
Although I did love Keeper as well, it was very clear to see Kim Chance grow and improve as a writer in this sequel. That's something I love to see in a sequel, not only the growth of the characters and advancing the plot, but as a writer I love seeing the author change and grow along with their story. Even though Keeper was a great book and very well-written, this book was definitely stronger, specifically in pacing. I think the ending was also stronger in this book than in Keeper, and I feel very satisfied by the conclusion.
With how much I loved her first two novels, I can't wait to follow Kim Chance throughout the rest of her career!

I don’t even know where to get started with this review! But I am just going to jump right into it and see where it goes. Since this book is not released yet (September 10th, 2019!) this will be a spoiler free review!

Ever since Keeper was released last year I fell in love with the story of Lainey, Maggie and Ty. When I heard that a sequel was in the works, I KNEW I had to read it ASAP! The wait was long, but it was 110% worth it!

Character Development- This is a huge thing for me when it comes down to if a book is going to be a 5-star book or a 1-star book. Kim DELIVERED when it comes to character development! With this being a sequel, I thought that I knew most, if not all, I needed to know about these characters, but the information and development just kept coming! The new characters there were introduced were just as thought out as the characters from Keeper.

Multi POV- I will admit that when I first heard that Seeker was going to be a multi POV story, I was a little worried. Sometimes when I read, I go too fast and don’t read chapter headings or the part where it tells you whose POV the chapter is written in and sometimes get confused as to whose POV I am reading in. This was not the case with Seeker. Going back to my first point, the character development was so well thought out that even if I did skip reading whose POV I was in, I could easily tell just by how the character spoke or the way they thought.

Plot twists- I like to say that I am someone who can usually pick out little plot twist along the way by picking up on little hints throughout the story. The plot twist in Seeker were so well planned that I didn’t see them coming. I do want to keep this review spoiler free, so I won’t be going into detail about the plot twist.

The writing in general- I know that talking about the writing in general is a weird point to use as far as a review goes but I think it is something that needs to be brought up. I LOVED Keeper. It was on the top, if not number 1, on my list of favorite books of 2018 but Seeker blew it out of the water. The detail that is put into Seeker made me feel like I was watching a movie as I read the book. Everything flowed together nicely made for a really entertaining read.

Overall, I don’t think you will be shocked to know that I give this book a 5-star rating! I enjoyed this book so much that I would go as far as to say that it has official knocked “Perks of Being a Wallflower” to the number 2 spot on my all-time favorite books and claimed the number 1 spot. So, if you have not read Keeper yet DO IT RIGHT NOW! You have until September 10th, 2019 to prepare yourself for Seeker. And trust me, you’ll want to be ready!!!!

I had not read the first book before I read this one, which is the second in the series. I did receive this book in exchange for feedback.

This book is told in multiple points of views with each chapter as a new character. It is very much a fantasy story and very enjoyable if this is your kind of book.

While I do feel it would have been helpful to read the first one, there were only a few times that I felt like I didn't really get the frame of reference.

As part of the series on the whole, I really enjoyed the story of a witch trying to control her powers and defeat the evil villain.

First of all, I want to say how proud I am of Kim. I know how much she gave this book, and it's paid off; hard moments and all. I've had the privilege of beta reading Seeker and getting an E-Arc from Netgalley, and I have some serious feelings about this book. There's drama, humour, Marvel references, love, and the ties of friendship that literally make me cry. I'm not kidding when I say that Lainey and Maggie are friendship goals.

NOW, onto the review stuff. I'm going to keep-er this spoiler free (hahaha). Seeker picks up so seamlessly from Keeper. Right away you're thrown into the thick of the consequences of Keeper (no spoilers! You gotta go read it). Kim somehow manages to balance out and maintain the tension from here while still wriggling in some tender moments between various relationships. Essentially, it's an emotional roller-coaster. My favourite part of these books though are how human the characters are. They're all in the midst of the worst situation of their lives but they still have their arguments, their moments of teenage angst, and parental conflict. They aren't written like adults, like a lot of YA authors seem to do, and I love it. I'm glad to see teens being teens.

While I'm sad to see the conclusion of Lainey, Maggie, and Ty's story, I'm completely satisfied with the way Kim handled it. I think she's left the door open enough in case she wants to see them again. This is also straight up a request: Kim, write a prequel about my gal Josephine!! I need this in my life!

If you liked Keeper, you’re going to love Seeker!

I’ll keep this as spoiler-free as I can. First, Kim Chance does an amazing job with the different points of view! So often I get confused, but the voices are so clear, I never once had to look back at the chapter heading to figure out whose head I was in.

The “can’t put it down” tension is fantastic! Don’t read the first page unless you’re prepared to get sucked in.

Kim Chance manages to weave all of the things we love about supernatural books into a new, dynamic plot that will keep you guessing until the end!

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to read the ARC, and I'm extremely excited for release day later in the year!

I thought this book nicely wrapped up the story for me. There were plenty of twists and turns, plus the introduction of a few (well-fleshed out) new characters. I particularly liked Oliver and his plot with Maggie. I think I fell a little more in love with Maggie in this book (if that is even possible!)

Lainey and Ty, as always, had me riding a crazy rollercoaster of emotions, and I struggled to put the book down. I have loved them from the comic book store in Keeper, and my heart was broken at the end of book one. I loved how we got Ty's full back-story, and I felt it really filled out the story and who he was as a person.

The ending was spectacular. I literally got goose bumps during the ending scene with Lainey and Maggie. Just amazing.

A fantastic read, and a book I'm definitely buying to put alongside Keeper on my bookshelf :)

I loved this book! It’s so hard to make a sequel be as good, or even better than the first book in a series, but Kim Chance does it with flair! One thing I was most excited about for this book was seeing Lainey come into her powers, and boy oh boy does she! An exciting finale!

When I began reading this book I didnt realize this was a sequel to the Keeper, but even without the full context. I absolutely loved the entire story. This was well written and the transition between perspectives was written with so much suspense and had me glued to the page to see what could happen. This book began with chaos and heartbreak, and turned into the epitome of the phrase "the path out of hell is through misery". I highly recommend this book of you have a love for supernatural suspense as it had enough twists and turns to glue you to the pages for hours.

The story is told from three perspectives, Maggie, Lainey, and Ty, each one struggling with finding who they are. Maggie desperate to fit in and find purpose in a team of supernatural. Ty, a known traitor trying to find his place, bit who is the betrayal really to. Lainey, with a huge growth in power, now she has to discover how to work her powers, and if she can learn to trust herself and her heart again, can she forgive herself?

My favorite part of this story, outside magic, is the relationship between Maggie and Lainey. They care so much about each other that the are too stubborn to let each other go. And with Maggie's love of all things hero/heroin, she was bound to kick butt in her own way.

With a chilling twist this story has the ability to have you looking at both sides of the coin, dark and light magic, and are the choices and mistakes you make ultimately unforgivable?

I enjoyed Seeker by Kim Chance. Pros: Kim has delivered a well-paced, fun & entertaining read. Kim worked hard to ground us in setting (which was a criticism I had of Keeper). Maggie shines brightest in terms of characterization. Comments/Cons: I enjoyed the Master's sense of (albeit twisted) humor in the final chapters of Keeper and was hoping to see more of that in this book. Since this was a sequel, Kim had to sort of "catch us up" in chapter one. Kim did this from the POV of the love interest, Ty, (a good choice)...but his voice in chapter one sounded much different than the rest of the book.
Bottom Line: Well-written, fun. I'm definitely going to buy this book and encourage you all to do the same. 3.5 stars (my scale: 5=Shakespeare, 1=FSOG).

(This review has been posted to my blog and Goodreads).

I was ecstatic when I heard that Keeper would be a duology. I loved the first book so much, and when I saw Seeker's stunning cover, my excitement only escalated.

I adore Chance's writing style. The imagery and descriptions are gorgeous, and you're easily sucked back into the world and the story with only minimal catch-up details. I was so immersed. It's the kind of story you just get lost it, the kind you find yourself dying to get back to when life interferes, and the kind you can't resist continuing even though there're only a few pages left and you know it'll be over soon. I love that kind of story. You have fun from start to finish, and I think it takes serious skill on an author's part to captivate a reader so entirely.

Chance has pulled no punches when it comes to plot. The stakes are higher, and the whole general tone of the story is darker - fittingly so. It's more mature, more sombre, and yet still consistently entertaining. I appreciated this. It's still a fun story (SUCH SUCH SUCH FUN) but it's also got a carefully administered amount of gravity. And that makes sense. The characters are in a life or death situation, and we feel this. The stakes are strong and emotional, and this is always present, keeping the reader invested and concerned.
It's an escapist story. But it's not without weight. Chance balances the light and dark perfectly.

The main difference in Seeker compared to Keeper is that we now have Ty and Maggie's narrative points of view, as well as Lainey's. It ends up being a brilliant idea, because these two characters show us sides of the story we wouldn't have otherwise experienced: Ty gives us a glance into the Master's evil operations, and Maggie gives us a glimpse into her inner turmoil whilst at the same time providing much-needed comic relief.

The much-loved female friendship between Maggie and Lainey is even stronger in this book. I love the twist at the end, and how the two girls are always, always there for each other. It's wonderful.

Lainey, fierce but impulsive Lainey, is of course at the head and heart of this story. She's struggling to deal with her grief and pain whilst soldiering the fact she's the only person who can destroy the Master, and I truly loved her character development. She learns a lot and her strength is so admirable.

The new secondary characters - Oliver, Teddy, Zia, and more - are also fantastic. Each of them has an important role to play and enough backstory and motivation to flesh them out. Everyone on the page is fully realised; however brief their appearance might be, each character is distinct, and they all make an impact.
The only disappointing character was the Master. He's the cliche villain through and through; totally the evil laugh, brooded in mystery, angry and evil bad guy we've all seen before.

Ty and Lainey's relationship has been through a lot, and in this novel their feelings are angsty but undeniable. I loved seeing them grapple with each other, watching their bond grow stronger, watching them deal with past pain and reconciling betrayals and hurt with what they know now. They grow a lot. Their interactions are also beautifully written, and their chemistry is incredible.

Seeker is a breathtaking sequel that ramps up the emotion and tension and delivers a compelling, escapist story. It's urban fantasy at its very best.
I loved spending time with these characters, and I'm so grateful for the adventure this series took me on.

(3.5) The plot twists and turns made the occasional cliche moment easily ignored. To be honest with you, I didn't enjoy the multiple perspectives, but I think it's really difficult for any author to make each character's storyline as exciting as the last.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The book is given in the point of views of three characters, Lainey, Maggie, and Ty. All of them were well written and they each had a different voice. I really enjoyed getting to see through all of their different perspectives.

The plot has a lot of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes the entire time. There were a lot of times that I had no idea who to trust. Readers who like psychological thrillers and fantasy will enjoy this book.

The writing was really detailed and vivid. The setting was also really well developed and the characters all had distinct personalities and depth.

There were some plot points that may seem cliche to some readers but I thought that the author did a really good job at subverting the tropes and keeping the reader wondering throughout the book. And although it is quite a dark read, there were some moments of humor between the characters that really made me laugh out loud. Overall, it's a great read and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first installment.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My review of Seeker by Kim Chance can be viewed on my IG account at the following link:

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bww5mi9HPJF/?igshid=1ls84yq2if8c8

It reads as follows:

Hi everyone 👋! My awesome 🎆 news is that I've luckily been granted an ARC 📖 of Seeker, written by the lovely YA author, Kim Chance. I finished it last night and I'm excited to share my review with you! 🙌

The sequel to @kimwritesbooks 's 1️⃣st 📑, Keeper (reviewed in an earlier post), Seeker releases on the 1️⃣0️⃣th of September and can already be pre-ordered on Amazon!

If you've read Keeper, you'll know a bit about the main characters, Lainey, Maggie & Ty (oh my!). In Keeper **Spoiler Alert** Lainey discovers she is a descendant of witches 🔮 and has magical powers she doesn't yet know how to control🎮. The last in her family line, she is now the keeper of the family Grimorie, which she needs to protect 🔒from an evil 👿 warlock. I recommend reading the book to find out about all the other things that happen, and so you know what is going on when Seeker comes out.

In Seeker, Lainey & Maggie band with a group of witches 🔮 and other fantasy creatures 🐺 to prepare for battle ⚔️with The Master. Lainey can't stop thinking 💭about Ty (and he keeps thinking 🤔about her) but can Lainey ever forgive his betrayal, and is Ty actually an evil bad 👎guy? Maggie finds herself making eyes 👀at the world's crankiest guy, who has some special abilities of his own, and also finds herself precariously close to death 💀 - she might not survive ☠️!

I ❤️ how this book is written from the perspectives of 3️⃣ different characters. This lets us inside their heads 🙇 and allows us to follow them all when the plot sends them in different directions↖️⬇️↗️. The work the author poured into this 2️⃣nd novel shows. I especially enjoyed getting to know Maggie better.

This fantastic YA story sticks to the innocent side of romance while still offering an exciting story for young readers to fall in love with.

Honestly, if you're a fan of Keeper, this one is defiinitely a sequel that fans will enjoy! Had some really great characters development and the characters were better overall. Had TONS of twists, bumps, and turns throughout, so it'll really keep you on your toes. There were times where scenes felt really slow, but it would quickly recover and go back to its normal pacing. Overall, it's a really great read and I'd recommend checking it out, especially if you enjoyed the first book.

ARC provided to me by the publisher in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have always struggled to find a good sequel and for me, Seeker by Kim Chance was a highly anticipated one. Her debut novel, Keeper, was a gripping page-turner and Seeker had so much to live up to.
Having just finished this sequel, I was not disappointed at all. It was so much more than I hoped it would be. The characters were unique and had such incredibly vivid depth. As a reader, I was invested from the very start. The plot took many twists and turns forcing me to stay up way too late to finish. Chance took me on a roller coaster of a journey I cannot recommend highly enough. I wait with baited breath for her next novel.

I loved this book - and couldn't put it down! The twists and turns kept me going and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I also love the addition of different factions. It is like Harry Potter, Divergent, and Twilight mixed in a pot with a little dose of Marvel magic for good measure.
