Unbroken was a perfect introduction to the Loveless, Texas series. If you've read Jay Crownover's Getaway series then you know how good she does a cowboy book and Unbroken was no different!

Unbroken was the story of a down on his luck cowboy who had gotten himself too deep into a world he shouldn't have and a successful business woman who had no interest in anything to do with cowboys. Written in dual POV through Crew Lawton and Della Deveaux's eyes, it was a perfect opposites attract novella.

It's been a good year since I've read a Jay Crownover book and I truly missed her writing style! I fell in love with her writing in Rule and with each book I've read, I've only enjoyed her words more and more. I also love seeing how her writing has developed and how with every book her writing gets stronger and stronger. Jay Crownover will always be one of my favourite authors. She writes the type of characters and storylines that are believable and so easy too relate to.

Crew Lawton is Trouble with a capital T. His addictive personality has got him in deep with the wrong people and to climb his way out he needs to sacrifice his career and possibly his soul to get himself out.

Enter Della.

Della has her own demons that she's battling. She knows what she wants and she knows what she likes and Crew Lawton is not it. Working for her dad's cosmetics company, she wants nothing more then to be recognised for her hard work and dedication and to gain acceptance from her father.

Della and Crew are thrown together at a tough time in there lives when they have to learn to rely on themselves and each other to overcome there demons. Unbroken was a short yet satisfying look at how they built there relationship and also fixed relationships with there families. Della wants acceptance and Crew wants to protect the ones he loves, forming an unlikely bond, they bring the best out in each other at a time when there best is needed.

I loved this introduction to the Loveless, Texas world and I can't wait to see where this series takes us! I loved this novella and would have loved for it to be a full length novel. I'm craving some Jay Crownover angst and this opposites attract story could've had even more crazy good angst to go along with the crazy good sexual tension. I highly recommend reading this novella before diving into Justified when it releases in June!

This was my first novella by this author. I read so many of her full length novels years ago. I remembered immediately how much I loved her storytelling. The flow is simply so smooth. The dialogue is engaging and deeply emotional. I love cowboys and always loved the rodeo. Crew and Della really caught my attention.
These characters were so vibrant and just flawed enough to make me root for them the entire time.

Crew knew Della was different, special. He rugged nature found balance in her classy and clean personality.

She was so out of my league, so above the dirt and dust I always seemed to find myself rolling around in. I knew if I put my hands on her I was going to get her dirty in a way that wouldn’t simply wash off.

I so glad to have found myself back in this authors orbit. I can't wait to see where she'll take us from here

Thanks to NetGalley for this delightful start to a series ARC. I absolutely love a story with characters that do not have insta-love or immediate connection. In this story there connections evolves throughout the book. Can't wait for more!

Unbroken by Jay Crownover is the first novella in her brand new Loveless, Texas Series.
Meet Crew Lawton. He's an ex-rodeo rider, a risk taker living on the speeding line. He's in a lot of trouble.
Della Deveaux is a city girl through and through. She works in the beauty industry and could be Crew's saving grace.
Both have this crazy through the roof high chemistry and one thing leads to the next.

Opposites attract, they say and in case of Crew and Della it's fitting. The glitz and glamour girl and the rugged cowboy make a match that leads to an unputdownable read, flaws and all.
I recommend this first book and give 4,5 stars.

Jay Crownover has kicked off her new Loveless, Texas series with an opposites attract tale that checks all the right boxes. A gambling problem has sent rodeo star Crew Lawton toppling from the top of his field. He reluctantly accepts a modeling gig, the face of a new high-end men’s line, as a means to an end. He’ll do anything to pay off his debts and be free of the bookie who is now threatening his family. Della didn’t want Crew for her ad campaign but once he’s dropped in her lap she can’t deny his good looks and charisma. It was great fun to watch as these two lowered their walls, dropped their prejudices, and found a connection they’d never experienced before. These total opposites brought out the best in one another. While I found the plot line with Della’s father a bit much to be believed, I was willing to roll with it because everything else was so on-point. With a sexy cowboy, a good girl ready to get a little bad, some sexytimes and a little danger thrown in, Unbroken is a great start to a new series and has me ready for more.

Personally, I have never understood why someone would gamble especially when they are aware of just how far they have fallen; well, I can honestly say Jay has enlightened me and help me develop my empathy for this type of addiction via the charismatic Crew.

Crew has issues, some of these issues stem from his tumultuous relationship with his father, others are a direct product of his low opinion of himself – can anyone say ‘self-fulfilling prophecy’. Crew is a contradiction where his confidence is concerned, his certainty in his abilities is founded in his talent while his belief in his betting goes against rationality. It is made clear within the narrative that the act of gambling produces a rush within the body akin to that produced by substance abuse, and that is where the addiction is based.

Having reached rock-bottom, Crew is given a reprieve in the form of a feisty, ice-queen, Della, who for some initially inexplicable reason makes Crew want to be a better man.

Della has her own baggage, fighting to prove her worth to an absentee father. Both Della and Crew have a lot riding on her success. What neither of them expect is the attraction and connection they feel to each other.

While the physical aspect of their relationship is instinctual, the emotional side is new territory for them both. Watching them come to terms with their feelings while trying to navigate their way through the obstacles in their path was compelling.

I completely loved the twist within the plot and honestly would not have expected the direction it took and the emotion it added to the story as a whole.

Unbroken is a wonderful gateway into the world of Loveless, Texas with brief introductions and background details laying a foundation for the rest of the series 😍

I loved this novella! I'm upset because I wanted it to be so much longer and this idea could have definitely been developed into a full-length novel. I suppose it did its job though in piquing my interest in this new series from Jay Crownover. I can't wait for the next installment!

4 stars — This was just a fun, solid series prequel. Novellas can be tricky sometimes, in that so often I don’t get enough to feel satisfied. But I was satisfied with this one. Both characters had a lot going on with them, they were flawed but redeemable.

I felt for Della’s struggle for her father’s approval, and I could understand how that resulted in her drive. I enjoyed watching her struggle with what she thought she wanted for her campaign, and realizing what would actually work. I loved the way her personal story wrapped up.

Crew had a lot of serious issues going on with him, I didn’t quite expect it. And I feel like while Ms. Crownover didn’t dive deep into the addiction, she didn’t gloss over it either. He actually really got to my feelz with how he saw himself and his worth…

It took me a bit to get into their chemistry with one another. I’m not sure what was stalling me, but it wasn’t an immediate grab. But I thought their steamy scenes were on point eventually, and I enjoyed their relationship once it got more established.

Obviously the action/suspense was both a little over the top, and kinda perfect for the book.

I honestly have very little to say. It was fun, entertaining, enjoyable. I wasn’t blown away, but I was certainly pulled in enough to want to read more in the series.

I love to read a Jay Crownover book. She has a way with words. This was very good considering it was a novella. I am usually not big on reading a shorter read, but this one was well done!!

Starting series of Lawton brothers. Crew Lawton, middle brother, a cowboy and an adrenaline junkie who loves competing in rodeo until his luck runs out and his gambling debt will ruin him and his reputation. He needs to pay or else. So when he finds out his manager signs him up for a male skincare model, he gladly accepts.
Della, New Yorker and ready to take over his father's company until she faces her Crew. She never understood why his father signed Crew to be spokes person for her launching skincare. She doesn't want to disappoint her father so she is doing her best to make sure Crew is the perfect face for her new skincare line for men.
Crew wanted to pay off his debt but his bookie doesn't make it easy on him and he is threatening to hurt his family. So he is trying to stay on task until he gets paid.
Crew and Della were total opposites but they are attracted to each other. Their sparks are flying and they give into their attraction until Della overhears Crew's phone call to his sister.
Della need to make sure she doesn't fall for people like Crew but she can't help herself. Crew is back in Loveless, Texas to take care of everything until he is in trouble again.
It was a quick read and I enjoy the relationship between Lawton siblings. I can't wait to read about his brother and his sister.

Unbroken is a novella, and as a series kickoff, it really does the trick. Jay Crownover sets the scene for Loveless, Texas and her character portraits are compelling and complex. The primary couple in Unbroken was so engaging, I think I might have enjoyed a full length journey with them. Hopefully they will make appearances in future books, because I feel the need to continue their story. Unbroken introduces so many intriguing characters and plot possibilities, I look forward to the first book - Justified.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

A new Novella to break us into Jay's new series. I dig it. I do have to say though, that reading cowboys from Jay is mind blowing. She just proves she can write anything...now if she would get on a Kpop story we would be golden. This story of total opposites was great, I wanted more. Much more. It introduces us to the group we will be reading about in the rest of the series.

Crew a rodeo star who has landed himself in trouble with his gambling habits that have gotten out of hand. Now he needs to make up the money he owes and fast. For a short while he needs to be a face of a skincare line that'll give him the big bucks he needs but that includes dealing the Della. This would be your classic case of opposite attract. I thought that this was a pretty good book I pretty much devoured this book in one sitting. It took a hour or two to read. It was quicker then I expected but I didn't realize that it was a novella but with in the impression this book left I am curious to see more from this author with the series.

Well, this was fun.

We start with Crew and Della. He’s a rodeo star with a serious gambling problem, and she’s the perfect solution to his latest issue.

I liked Crew, even though I just wanted to slap him for getting into such a big problem. Come on, man. The worst is that it was also touching his family, and that’s a no-no.

Della was great as well, I loved that even though she wasn’t comfortable with this situation and Crew, she gave it her best. :-)

I loved how she helped Crew and how he showed her a passionate love, something she was lacking in her life.

It was an all in all fun read and looking forward to reading more in the series.

*Thank you to Netgalley for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*

I love Jay Crownover and I love cowboys. This book was a fantastic introduction to a new series. I was hooked from the cover and could not put it down until the final word. I wanted to start over again once I finished. I could not get enough of Della and Crew but I can't wait for more of this series.

Filled with mystery and suspense about an anti-hero who lives in Loveless, Texas. Well a book that starts out that depressing can only get better. Right? Well I guess it depends on your definition of happy for now endings.
Crew is indebted to the type of guy who’ll easily make you pay with interest or else. He’s got a gambling issue and even having a new love interest with his boss Della is not quite enough to change. But when push comes to shove, will Crew man-up and finally do what is right for himself, his family, and for Della?
I received an arc from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Crew Lawton lived by his own rules which pretty much left in trouble most of the time - but he'd never been in this deep. When he finds out about the shady deal his manager made he goes ahead with it to get the money he needs to get free.
Della Deveaux couldn't imagine what her father was thinking of signing this rough around the edges Bronc Rider to represent her men's care line that was meant for men of the upper-crust.
It takes a real "Come to Jesus" moment for everything to fall into place for Crew and Della
A really great read with some twists and turns.

Crew and Della’s story was short fun and sweet. They met by chance and knowing each other changed them a lot more than they expected, they brought out the best of each other.

Della lived for her job, she was uptight in the worst kind of way, she was certain she had no idea what having fun and letting go meant.

Crew was just about the fun and the right now kind of thrills. He had no idea what he was doing or where his life was going. And by the looks of it, he probably didn’t have a lot of time left before something ended it prematurely.

Playing model was just what he needs, easy gig, easy cash. But he wasn’t expecting her, the connection they had made everything more complicated.
If he wanted to be worthy of her he had to risk it all.

Della had no idea what she was thinking, he was wrong for her, a risky bet she wasn’t willing to take, but what is life if we don’t?
