Great read. Well-developed characters. Easy to follow storyline with low drama. Would highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to pass a couple of hours.

Don’t laugh – I honestly thought this one was a book about drug cartels and such. I’ not disappointed I was wrong, but I really have to say, th way the book moved at the beginning, was an artful maneuver indeed.

Kyria needs help to save father. She ends up enlisting the aid of Ramiel, an old… acquaintance of her father’s, who is more than just reluctant to act like her savior. Still, there’s something in Kyria that really pulls him closer to her. Too bad he only has seven days of freedom before the demon queen he serves chains him back up in her kingdom…

This was such an amazing story! Not only was it fully packed with suspence and actions, it also provided hot as hell scenes between the main leads, and a cast of characters that don’t fail to intrigue the reader into wishing to know more about them.

Kyria was a wonderful female lead. I know I usually rant about the hot male leads, but Ramiel was your usual tall, dark, hot, mysterious fallen angel, and that’s OK with me, but it was nothing new. Kyria, on the other hand, was a heroine that you rarel get to see in such books. First of all, she had a pet hedgehog – me likey! Second of all, she was brilliant and steadfast, and kind in ways you can’t even begin to imagine.

And in her standoff between her and Nema? Oh, you can bet your ass I was cheering for that girl to get her man and beat that bitch! Not to mention she never lost hope, no matter how much the demoness tried to throw dust in her eyes concerning Ramiel. Nope, our girl just ignored her, kept believing in Ramiel not having betrayed her, and saw the bigger picture, never losing sight of what was really important.

By the way, what the heck was that with that creepy ending?! I’m really concerned now! You can’t tell me Bishop isn’t a fishy dude, I’m not buying it!

I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Speaking of which, can it please be Eli’s book?! He’s so interesting, and the reveal about his ‘social’ status really makes me want to find out more!

Chained to a demon queen for hundreds of years, fallen angel Ramiel has given up on his brothers and sisters—and humanity. He has seven days away from hell to replenish his power and that’s all he cares about—right up until his meeting with the much too innocent Kyria. He fell for that act before and it landed him in hell, he won’t be making that mistake again. To save her sick father, Kyria knows she must find Ramiel. He’s dark, brooding and everything Kyria should be scared of, but the haunted look in his eyes makes her think there’s more to him. The tattoos and chains don’t frighten her either, but the connection she has with him does. When strange creatures attack her, Ramiel steps in to protect her. Ramiel believes he’s reluctantly helping Kyria, but what neither of them knows is that she may be the one to save them all.
This was a great story with great characters. I hadn’t read this author before so I didn’t know what to expect. I’m glad I wasn’t disappointed. I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend.

This was a great beginning book for this author! You had all the emotional feels with a interesting new take on angels. I really liked Kyria and Ramiel and their dynamic. And the two of them and their side characters led me into wanting more stories in this world.

I just finished this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. I know i let is sit in my queue for a while but that was a huge mistake. It took longer than normal for me to finish this book, not because it wasnt good ! i had to keep stopping because it was so intense i had to take a breather. But every time I picked it up again, I was hooked. This is basically a good vs. evil love story but it didn't end there and I am looking forward to the next book. I hope i dont have to wait too long. Beautifully written and amazingly worded. I caught the essence of every scene and the details to set the scene were wonderful.

Kyria and her father have been on the run from the cartel for as long as she can remember. Once more, her father instructs her to pack up and be ready to leave the ranch that has become home. This time is different though her father is sick and isn't thinking clearly. When he collapses, Kyria must rush to find her father's contact Ramiel before it's too late.

Ramiel isn't what she's expecting, a tattooed chained man with haunted eyes hanging out in a dive bar.  When Ramiel refuses to help her Kyria and sends her on her way. When she is attacked on her way back to the hotel by frightening creatures, she is only saved when Ramiel steps in. She finds her entire world rocked when she discovers that the cartel isn't precisely human.

Ramiel is a fallen angel who has been enslaved to a demon queen for centuries. Granted seven days free from hell to replenish his power he hadn't intended to get dragged into an innocent beauty's troubles, but he can't resist the pull that is drawing him to her.

This was an okay read from a debut author. The pacing suffered at times, and while the characters were well developed, the book couldn't hold my interest.

"Unchained Desire" is R.C Alvarez debut novel and needless to say I am impressed. She was to put a lot of elements together to create likable characters and a plot that could easily drawn readers in that love to immerse themselves in paranormal romances. There was action, romance and steamy scenes that left me wanting more, and sure there were a few things here or there that bothered me during my venture but it wasn't enough to defer me from enjoying the story. In conclusion, the author ended the novel in a good note with a great cliffhanger and I am looking forward to seeing the additional books that will become a part of the "Rapture" series.

This is a debut novel for this author. I was intrigued by the synopsis but wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was please that the writing was will done, clear thoughts and good flow to the story.

I love paranormal, but the angel/demon trope is not usually something I gravitate towards. Kuddos to the author on this one, though. She brings us a bit of a twist. A sheltered heroine with lots of secrets revealed to her as the story goes on. Ramiel is a typical broody alpha but he also has some courage to try to change the outcome if he can.

Looks like there are a lot more characters waiting in the wings, hoping to find their HEA. There is still a huge good vs evil fight to come and I hope we get to see Kyria and Ramiel again.

Good start to a new series!

The 1st book I've read by R.C. Alvarez and hopefully not the last. The storyline was well-written and fast-paced. Good solid storybuilding and unique plot. Totally loved it!

Not really sure what all to say about Unchained Desire. It's a great story idea. I enjoyed the book......
I liked Ram. He was a great guy... even if he was a fallen angel. He had literally been through hell and still had his same traits that he had before.
But......
I realize Kyria was sheltered, very sheltered, but she was so naive that it actually kinda bothered me. It was like she was a child with her pet hedgehog and her head in the clouds. In twenty two years she never noticed anything? Not even a little something? Kids question everything. Test boundaries. Needle and pry until they find out something. They have more than a cursory interest in their parents. My kids want details. When you were 30 how did you... remember when I was 8? What was that all about? She was just too innocent.

I love a good supernatural romance – one where the author creates a world that you can immerse yourself in but is different than the one the reader knows.  Maybe someone with a more extensive understanding of religious/mythological history would feel differently but I really enjoyed how Alvarez introduces both her baddies and the good guys, while setting up an interesting foundation for where the series may go.

Kyria thought she understood why her life was the way it was but when her dad gets sick her eyes are opened to things she could never imagine.  Unsteady and confused, she’s still got a lot of gumption and fight in her.  She takes everything in stride, even some hard-hitting truths about herself and her family.

Ramiel has spent decades feeling alone in the world.  The last thing he wants is someone reminding him of his past and people who let him down but he’s compelled to help Kyria.  She gets past his broody, standoffish exterior and, as they work together to find her dad, truths will come out that might just set him free … but only if he can manage to trust in someone else again.

Since it is the start of a new series, with its own special world, Alvarez does a fabulous job of setting things up for the future.  There’s a lot that is going on with the underworld and what they want with our world, a special group of kids that could mean everything to our future, and a varied cast of characters who are doing their best to make sure that right wins out in the end.  With a whole slew of people that I can’t wait to get to know better, a good mix of danger & the supernatural, and a plot that wonderfully sets up future stories, I am definitely looking forward to more from Alvarez.

(When there are demons and angels involved you know that religion is going to play a part.  I'm assuming that those picking up the book will know what they are getting into but I’m throwing out a warning just in case for those that might find using God this way offensive.)

What a great start for R.C. Alvarez and her new Rapture series! I was completely intrigued by all the characters involved in this story and there were times when I found myself more interested in them than the main characters. Overall, a solid start to this series and I can’t wait to read the books to come.

Ramiel and Kyria couldn’t be more perfectly matched than they already are. I loved the bit of inner battle that Ramiel would have over Kyria. As much as he wants to stay away from her, he’s constantly being pulled in her direction and can’t exactly pin point what it is.

Kyria was definitely her own little mystery and throughout the book we’re learning what exactly she is. I loved her ferocity and tenacity towards her father and learning more of the truth about herself. She’s definitely no damsel in distress, but side by side with Ram, they definitely make a power couple.

I truly enjoyed Ram’s story as well as we’re going through each chapter, we’re learning so much about his past. And essentially why he is the broody archangel that he is.

Truly a great start with Alvarez’s debut book!

We just don't get enough stories about nephillim.
I feel like if the bible were true and some angels formed a rebellion and fell to help, others would have helped a little and fallen not to help but to earth and they would definitely take up with humans.
Tortured male lead character, Mmmm....
Very yummy 😋

As the start of a series, this book definitely paints a unique world complete with angels, demons, and anything in between.

Kyria has lived on the run all her life, presumably from something putting them in a form of witness protection. She learned early not to ask questions and always travel light. While on the run from her longest home, her father gets ill and she’s forced to follow a name he leaves behind before passing out – Ramiel. Finding him ends up throwing her down the rabbit hole of her past and her strange abilities. Turns out, she’s got angel blood in her and with it comes astounding powers.

Ramiel wants to just be left alone for his 7 day reprieve from torture and darkness. He was captured and enslaved many years ago, abandoned by his angel friends and left to become an evil demon’s plaything. As he is approached by Kyria, things change and he finds himself re-evaluating what he believed was truth. These two unlikely allies end up much more than that as they battle to do what’s right. Overall, this was a neat spin on your typical paranormal romance. I found it a little tough to get into rooting for them as a couple, but it did put a different edge to an angel storyline.

What a great debut novel! Such a unique take on the world! It's a mixture of religious and paranormal.

While it took me a bit to get into it, the pacing and some scenes were a little off to me, the characters made the book!

Ram is that kind of dama, brooding jerk, I like, with the sweet center that comes out for just Kyria.

Kyria, poor girl was way too sheltered by her father and had many rude awakening! She's fierce though!

I'd have to say my fav secondary character is Bishop! Reminded me of the crazy, allknowing Nix of the IAD novels!

This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed it! Kyria and her father have been on the run off and on. This time they have settled down for the last six years, when her father tells her that they have to leave again and he suddenly he falls sick. Ramiel(a fallen angel) has been tortured over a century and during his 7 day reprieve helps out Kyria. This story had some interesting takes and surprises, especially for Kyria. Together the two of them work together to unravel the mysteries of Kyria and fight off the baddies. I loved it and look forward to reading more from R.C. Alvarez. 4 solid stars*****

Review:
This is the first in a new series and I have to say I really liked this and cannot wait to see what comes next.

It gives a different little twist on angels, demons and nephilim and their romances, which I think must be hard for an Author to come up with a new twist on a very old subject. The Author puts in so many interesting tidbit and twists to keep the story interesting and engaging. It was exciting and tension filled from the start. I loved Kyria and Ramiel, they are an superb couple. Even though there is an instant attraction between them Ramiel fights what he knows, that Kyria is his mate. They end up making a united and formidable couple. The tension and mystery around Kyria's parentage was well-done also and adds excellent drama to the story and plot point.

Great start to this exciting and sexy series! I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

Unchained Desire is my first read by R.C. Alvarez and holy smokes it was intriguing! I loved everything about this book…the synopsis, the characters, the execution of the entire plot line…Alvarez gave us so much in this first book of the Rapture series and I cannot wait to dive into more.

Kyria has led a life on the road with her father running from the cartel, but for the last six years, they’ve lived a pretty stable life. When her father tries to run again things don’t go as planned and Kyria finds herself in need of dire help from the one man her father told her to turn too, Ramiel.

Ramiel is an unlikely hero with his own demons (literally) to fight, but something about Kyria pulls him in and he just can’t say no. As an involuntary resident of hell, enslaved by a crazy demon queen, this angel, yes, I said angel, has given up on himself and of his past life. Together, Kyria and Ramiel have to fight through the mess that is their lives, and in doing so come to realize that both of their celestial problems are somehow connected in the grand scheme of things. The entire plot was well executed and thought out; some of the pacing overall felt rushed in some areas, but it never took away from the storyline.

The characters themselves were amazing and I even found myself wanting to know more about the secondary characters as well. I was kept intrigued by all of them and most were easily liked. Kyria is a spitfire who really had to grow up quick and Alvarez wrote her in a way that felt relatable. Ramiel was broody, a mess, and made for a great anti-hero.

Also, I’d like to point out that even though this book centered around religious themes such as angels and demons, it wasn’t religious in nature or overbearing in religious content. Overall, this was a great start to what I hope is to become an amazing series.
