I had so much expectations of this book . However sadly it did not deliver to me. I found it very much lacked depth.
Thank you to both NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest unbiased review

I really enjoyed Spiritual Life Hacks. It's broken into smaller chapters, each focusing on a different hack. Because of its structure, it's easy to fit a little reading into a few spare minutes of the day--and to put it down and come back to it a few days (or more) later. The tips cover a wide variety of issues, and for the most part, are very practical.

The title and cover excited me. However, when I started reading it, I felt slightly disconnected from the words.

The title Spiritual Life Hacks really stood out to me and I was excited to read and review this book because it sounded fun. I may have went in with too high expectations for a fun, down to earth book. Unfortunately it lacked in both those traits. I struggled getting through this book.

Okay yes, I'm Jewish and not really that into organized religion but regardless, I really wanted to read this book. We have much to learn from everyone and I'm always up for discovering new ways to connect to spirituality. Recently, I'm in the midst of a Jewish religious crisis (yes, again, the Israeli elections will do that to people) and while my faith seems very fragile, I still find myself leaning on my spiritual religious rituals so I was up for learning a few more.

The advice here is good. It's a little basic but I felt like it spoke to me. We all need to remember to be more grateful and to deal with our problems better. Religious advice books usually aren't for the information but in order to awaken inside of us what we know already exists. This book does that pretty well.

I've had plenty of conversations with spiritual leaders and this guy has the lingo down. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just reads like a religious self help book, which, in fact, it is. You hear that type of mentality in the writing style.

This is nitpicking but please, consult a native Hebrew speaker. Hebrew is written from right to left so it tends to be wrong in printed books, as is here on page 66. The transliteration is also a little off. Also, there's a bit somewhere on page 100ish where the author mentions Hebrew in a way that seems a little inaccurate. So yeah, feel free to contact me with Hebrew related questions, I'd be happy to help in order to make it right.

All in all, this is a quick read and it manages to do what it sets off to do, although I'm too much of a millennial to be sold by the use of the word "hacks". If you're up for a nice book about solutions for religious problems, this could be good for you.

What I'm Taking With Me:
- Christianity, as presented here, is more reflective than Judaism.
- Honestly, I'd be so up for just hanging out with the author for coffee, he feels like a chill guy.
- I always feel a certain animosity towards Jesus, sorry.
- That story of his about getting robbed because the guy told him he's in need of religious help and everyone has turned him down. Like wow, that's a clever way to trick someone and it's so sad because I feel I would have easily fallen for that as well.

I struggled to get into this book, the hacks were laid out in a weird way and I can't get behind everything the book said but it offered some interesting suggestions!

I just could not get into this one. Not sure if it was the voice/writing style or the material itself. It's a very interesting concept though. I don't think the author really understood what a life hack is? Perhaps I am just younger than the target audience. At 30, that doesn't happen much!

While I can’t agree on every scriptural interpretation in this book, it certainly offers some interesting concepts. Thank you.
