Since I’ve heard such high praise for Christina Lauren on the “When in Romance” podcast, I was super excited to see that one of their books was available as a NetGalley advance reader copy. And I was even more excited to be approved for it, because the vast majority of my NetGalley reading has been cookbooks.

Overall, I wasn’t thrilled by the book. Yes, it was well-written and well-researched. Yes, it incorporated a number of popular romance tropes: meet-cute, friends to lovers, second chance romance, enemies to lovers. Yes, the collaborative writing was seamless. But the climaxes and dramatic reveals were predictable, so the book just wasn’t one that compelled me to read it without stop or think about the characters when I wasn’t reading.

Truthfully, part of the reason why I wasn’t thrilled by the book is that I’m not usually one for beach reads or cozy romances. And this book was unexpectedly both. Not to say that it didn’t excel at what it did, just to say I’m probably not the target audience.

What a treat. I was originally drawn to this because of the authors and the cover, but I was immediately sucked into the story because of the characters.

The pacing was excellent, and the character development was better. I read this book in less than a day, that was how absorbed I became.

I couldn't really tell if this was going to be a happy ending or not, and I did cry at the end. A true sign that I love a piece of work.

Brava to Christina Lauren for again writing something so nuanced and yet so easy.

I love the dynamic duo that is Christina Lauren, have been reading their work for years and enjoy each and every story, they are my go-to authors when I'm looking for a great romantic story and Twice in a Blue Moon is astonishing!

Twice in a Blue Moon is an excellent story of first, innocent, and young love, trust is broken, but it's more than trust, Sam breaks Tate's spirit and her life is never the same.

This story may take you back to your first love, your first heartbreak, your first betrayal, although this one is extraordinary, it may spark up those memories from your own story.

A wonderful romance by the talented Christina Lauren!

I love how they can write novels that are so deep with a touch of heartbreaking angst as well as the romcoms that they're so well known for.

Twice in a Blue Moon was such a great book about young love and second chances. I fell in love with both characters as they got to know each other on their London vacation. This is an instalove romance down right.

The heart break and the angsty had me on the edge of my seat, wondering when we would get the full story and how they would find a way back to each other.

The side-drama with Tate and her father didn't really play out the way I expected it to. It sort of felt unfinished to me. I would have loved to have seen her stand up for herself in regards to their tumultuous relationship.

I also wish we had more time to really explore the adult relationship of Tate and Sam.

Last year I was excited to read The Un-honeymooners and enjoy their hilarious take on weddings and the guys you love to hate.

Twice in a Blue Moon is different. A different style of writing. A different type of story than what we traditionally see from this team. This is not the rom-com we tend to see from them. But they still managed to get to my heart.

This is the story of second chance love. A story of your first real love and the feelings that never go away. The story of betrayal, broken hearts, tender memories, and healing.

This book has a great plot and is totally something we can all relate to. The duo once again showed their amazing capabilities with their craft to develop relate-able and likable characters that come alive in the pages. Intense feelings of all types will grab you and string you along for the ride.

Christina Lauren has a place in my heart forever because of their fabulous storytelling abilities that will leave you desperate for more.

5 STARS

A second chance romance filled with memorable moments that will have you craving for any more. The magic in this book, the way it enhances from the novel itself to the reader is pure joy.

This is one hundred percent a totally different novel from what CLo has written in the past, and I am sure that these kind of emotionally grasping romances will keep on coming from them in the future.

Christina Lauren are one of my all-time favorite author duo's. Each book/series they write is so different, but SO good! I have loved everything they have released. So, of course I was excited for this new book, Twice in a Blue Moon!
love a second chance romance., and this one takes place over the course of many years. Tate, who is on a trip with her grandmother in London for her 18th birthday, meets Sam and his grandfather, who are Vermont Farmers. Their connect from the start is so strong! However, Sam betrays Tate and they don't see each other for 14 years.

This book was SO good and I didn't want to put it down from start to finish. I can't wait to read more from these amazing authors!

My feelings are all over the place about this book. I truly dont know if I like it or not. It was a good romance but not a great romance. It was a slow burn read but it didnt hold my attention and that is what killing it for, I do love that the story finally came together in the end.

A second chance romance. This was a change from the books I’ve read in the past from this author.
Tate and Sam were ok as a couple. There wasn’t much I liked about Tate., and the fact that Sam betrays her makes me dislike him too.

Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced reader copy.

I really wanted to love this book, especially because I live all her other books, but I really just couldn’t get behind this. Everyone drove me insane! It was a betrayal for “the greater good”, but it also wasn’t his choice to make. All the people in her life, except her bestie and her mother, were not good.

An enjoyable read with an intriguing premise of betrayal that came to a satisfactory conclusion. Although not my favorite from this author team, since I felt that both the romantic storyline and characterization were a little underdeveloped as compared to a few of their other books. This was a 3.5 star read for me.

I am a huge fan of Christina Lauren’s romance novels. They have never disappointed me, and Twice in a Blue Moon was no exception. While it was not my favorite of theirs, I still really enjoyed it and had tons of fun while reading it.

Highlights:
*Tate and Sam’s whirlwind romance lasts a short two weeks while they are on vacation in London. Even though this is such a short period of time, the story really captured how, when you are young and falling in love for the first time, two weeks can seem like an eternity. CLo really managed to capture what it is like to experience this overwhelming and intense emotion for the first time, and how first love never really fades.
*Sam was the first person to ever really know Tate and the first person to encourage her to go after her dreams. In such a short period of time, they manage to help each other figure out who they are and who they want to become as adults. Because of this, their intense connection is even more profound. After all, isn’t this what love is really all about?
*The connection to the love story between Luther & Robert/Ellen & Richard was beautifully done. Through the filming of the fictional movie, Milkweed, the reader not only gets to see Tate and Sam’s love story unfold, but also the love story of Sam’s Grandparents. This added a really heartwarming connection and wisdom about love that both Tate and Sam learn from.

Drawback:
The only drawback for me was that it ended rather abruptly. I really think that the book needs an epilogue where the authors sum up all of the loose threads. For example, what happened at Tates press release? How was the movie received? What did Tate and Sam end up doing with their fame? These were all things that I think most readers will also want answers to.

Thank you so much Gallery Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read this early edition in exchange for an honest review.

Twice in a Blue Moon is another grand slam for Christina Lauren. This second chance romance has a bit of a Hollywood twist perfect for movie lovers out there. Sam and Tate's love story is truly remarkable and their chemistry is palpable from the moment they meet to the moment they cross paths again years later. Twice in a Blue Moon is one of the best new romances of 2019.

As far as I am concerned, Christian Lauren can do no wrong. They write books I want to hug and can't put down and this one was no different. Tate is the daughter of a Hollywood icon but has lived in seclusion her whole life. On a trip to London, she meets Sam, falls in love and shares her big secret. Her life is turned upside down when he shares her secret with the world. She turns that devastation into her big break and uses it to fuel her rise to stardom as an actress. She never thought she would run into him again but she does. She hates him yet, does she? Can young love turn into a new love? Maybe a love like theirs can happen Twice in a Blue Moon.

Tate Jones is the reclusive daughter of a huge Hollywood icon. When she was 8 years old, Tate's mother took them away from the madness of Hollywood and moved back to the small town in California where she had grown up to raise her daughter. Away from the lens of the Hollywood Paparazzi, Tate was said to have disappeared. The name of Tate's father is a closely guarded secret known only by a handful of people.

For her high school graduation, Tate and her Grandmother head to London. While there, Tate finds her first love. Seduced by stars and the magic of love, she tells this young man closely guarded secrets.

When he in turn sells her story and her true name to the tabloids, Tate's life is forever turned upside down. Her first true love disappears into the mists of time, and Tate forges an image, identity, and brand out of the resulting chaos.

16 years later, Tate is handed the role of a lifetime. Talk of Oscar nominations are floating before filming even begins. Tate will be working with her father in this film, playing his onscreen daughter. As Tate is preparing for the first table read, she looks up to see the man who sold her story sitting at the far end of the table. He's the screenwriter for the movie. And Tate quickly discovers that she is not as "over him" as she had led herself to believe. Unresolved feelings abound as Tate struggles to maintain her composure.

They say a deep love like this only happens once in a blue moon. But if you're given a second chance, can it happen twice? Find out is this sweetly funny tale of love, loss, and quirky relationships.

Y’all, I don’t know why I’m surprised each and every time after reading a Christina Lauren book...but they got me again! This is a sweet second chance romance that just nestles into your heart and won’t let you go. The characters are vivid and likable, and I loved getting that little glimpse into set life/Hollywood. If you’re looking for a sweet contemporary romance, look no farther! Christina Lauren has struck again and their magic continues!

Twice in a Blue Moon is a contemporary second-chance romance by the writing team of Christina Lauren. Tate (the heroine) and Sam (the hero) meet while on a two-week vacation in London and form an intense, romantic connection. Tate tells Sam her secrets and gives him her heart; Sam betrays and abandons her, shattering her trust.

The two meet 14 years later and Tate finally asks why. This is where the characters and the story lost me as a reader. The authors spend almost 70% of the novel on the first-chance backstory, using first-person single POV to put the reader firmly on Tate’s side. After Sam’s brief explanation and his sorry-not-sorry “apology,” Tate readily discards 14 years of anger and resentment and suddenly… Sam is dreamy again? The quick emotional switch and Tate’s lack of internal conflict about it made me find her attraction to Sam questionable and his character irredeemable. (I DNF’d the book at 75%.)

The character of Tate is well-written and empathetic and her experience of falling in love entirely believable. Christina Lauren has worked wonders with unlikeable characters in books like Beautiful Bastard, but it didn’t work for me here. Perhaps if the characters met earlier (at 50%), there would be greater opportunity to show Tate’s internal conflict or more of Sam’s groveling in order to make this “second chance” more believable.

Tate and Sam meet while vacationing in London and it's almost love at first sight. They quickly grew close but their romance unfortunately doesn't last. Years later, on set for a new movie Tate is starring in, the screenwriter is none other than her old love Sam. Let's just say she is not happy to see him. It was a cute love story but not my favorite from Christina Lauren but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This was my first Christina Lauren novel. After hearing so many rave reviews about their other titles, I thought I'd give this one a try. And, unfortunately, I was disappointed. It reads like a young adult novel. The main characters, Tate and Sam, are supposed to be 18 and 21 (in the beginning), but they are portrayed like 13 yr olds. And, the dialogue is dreadfully boring, no wit and humor. Also, I just didn't buy into the secret love child storyline.
